  1. I like the sound coming out of my amp with my m13, with a good mic it records well. I would like to know if it is possible to have the tempo on the m13 controlled by my daw so everything jives in my session. can I connect the m13 to my interface (rme ucx) and have the temp controlled this way? I love the idea that the bpm in my protools session would match my m13.
  2. Hi all, is it possible to control the volume of the looper on the M9 with an expression pedal? If so, how?
  3. I was just thinking about my pedal tonight and thought I would drop in and see if there has been any newer Firmware/s added for my M9 pedal. I see the line 6 Monkey keeps updating, but my question is: 1. Should I load the older M9 Firmware Version 2.01.00 Then Version 2.02.00 then the Version 2.04.00 OR Does the latest Version 2.04.00 have all the previous fixes for the pedal?
  4. Hi all My rig guitar rig includes a whammy, boss distortion and boss phase pedal running into a POD XT, running stereo into an M9 and out to the FoH. I use an FBV express to control my Wah/Volume and swap between amps etc. I've been experimenting with using the phase shifter and distortions on the POD preamp and want to use those instead of the pedals. Since I'm not using Exp inputs on the M9 would it be possible to attach two standard latching footswitches and send them through the M9 via MIDI to turn on and off the stomp and modulation FX on the POD. I can see how to get the POD to respond and which CC commands to use, but can't work out how to send the MIDI from the M9 and how to set the CC commands of the Exp inputs. Is this plan even possible? Ta
  5. My M9 stops to dumping after download release 2.04. Does anyone has a tip about that?
  6. I have played through my M9 for 3 years now and loves it. But a problem started now, some scenes/effects has no sound out on the Left out? Do I have to make a firmware update again, I have latest one installed already? Thank you Simon Fontana
  7. I am currently using the 4 cable method with my M13 into a JVM 215C. I would like to introduce a external analog octo-fuzz pedal, an analog bit commander (synth thing) and a Jamman solo for sampling. I want to put the octo-fuzz and bit commander between the first and second bank, and the Jamman through the effects loop at the end of the chain. The reason I do not want to simply plug my guitar into the analog pedals and have them first in the chain is because I want to have the first bank for a wah, a compressor, and a pitch shift. (Pitch shift through front of amp or loop??) Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Loving the M13!!
  8. I did trawl through Knowledge base but could not get an answer to this. Just about to buy an M9 but not certain how the 4CM applies. 4CM is used to split FXs pre and post pre-amp. I know how to plug the guitar into the M9 and the FX loop arrangement between M9 and the amp's send and return, ;) , but nowhere have I been able to find the answer to where that fourth cable (which goes to the amp's input) inserts into the M9. The only one it can be is the remaining left output, and that means you can't run the 4CM in stereo - am I right? Very grateful if anyone can help here, and has anyone used this to configure a Flex pedal for use as a wah wah so that its signal goes to the amp input direct, while mod FX go to send/return? cheers
  9. We're looking at adding a couple DT-25's to our stage rig and are curious if it's possible to get good acoustic voicing through the DT-25's? Or, is the DT-25 pretty much just an electric guitar amp? We use JTV-59's and do acoustic and electric guitar voicing in the same set (currently run direct to FOH). Thanks in advance. GT
  10. I was wondering if there are any users here that have a Boss FV-500H next to their M-series. Thing I'm curious about, is that if u use this pedal as an expression pedal, will it also still function as a volume pedal. (not the volume of the m5/m9/m13) And how does this work? If no effect is selected the pedal just works as the volumepedal it's intended to be? Or do you have to make some sort of alteration to it. Thnx ps. I know the Ernie Ball is great...but i'm not paying over a hundred bucks for a volume pedal.
  11. Hi, I'm a bass player using a Boss GT-10B and am interested in replacing it with an M9. Being a former owner of a floor POD XT, I know that the individual sounds that I'm after are possible, but there is one effect sound in particular that I've used through the years and I want to make sure that I can achieve this "signature" sound with the M9: My GT-10B has two effect busses that enable me to use a momentary switch to open my delay for as long as my foot is pressing down on the pedal. When my foot releases the pedal the delay trails while I continue with my dry bass sound. This is great for transitions and is important for my purposes. Can the switches in a scene be set for toggle or momentary? Can I configure the M9 to let the delay trail afterwards? Thanks Marty
  12. I'm new to this, just bought the M9. Did anyone ever try to use two expression pedals on the M9, each for different purposes/functions? I'd like to know if it's possible to assign expression settings (like wah, volume or pitch) to expression pedal one and switch between scenes with pedal two. Meaning I want to be able to change scenes on the fly and still have expression capabilities assigned to each effect/scene. If that's not possible, what are the two expression inputs for? What do you use the two expression pedals for? Thanks for shedding some light here. 13. Hi. I always wanted to add some new effects to my loved spider valve, especially the octoverb and particle reverb, so, I buy a Line6 M5 and I want to show you how I use both together. Guitar -> Spider Valve -> preamp out -> M5 in -> M5 out -> power amp in MIDI = Spider valve midi out/thru -> M5 midi in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7RfXpNYWew Sorry my english, is not my native lenguage. Bye
  14. I have a Line 6 M9 that is acting strange. I'm using an external 'preset' box instead of an expression pedal. The preset box is simply a latching switch with a 10k resistor. I can set min/max settings on an effect and use the preset box to toggle between the two settings. What's weird is that I can do it a half dozen times without a problem, then all of a sudden it'll stop working and forget the min/mix settings and I have to set them again to get it to work. Any ideas on what's going wrong here?
  15. Hey guys, been having a lot of fun lately setting short loops on my Line 6 M9 and having them trail out like a delay pedal. This is instant fun and can bring out some cool creativity. Wanted to share the process with anyone who would like to try it as well. Should work on the M13 as well. The key is setting up the Looper settings. I have my Looper settings as follows: LPR Post Play: about 3/4 lit Overdub: about 1/3 lit No hi/low cut used at all This allows you to set short samples of loop and treat those like a delay trail. As long as you stay in "record/overdub" mode, your loops will trail out and only the most recent recordings will play back, just like a delay pedal. --------------------------------------- Here is a breakdown of how you can use the Looper/Delay functions: (1) Delay Time: the distance in time between your first tap on record and your second tap (2) Feedback: you can get more audible repeats by raising the "Overdub" level in settings (3) Delay Mix: you can adjust more/less mix by adjusting the "Play" level in settings (4) If you want infinite repeats or "hold" on a certain section -- just move from record/overdub to "Play." This will capture the last phrase length and allow you to just play dry over it without any repeats. (5) Using the Half/Speed and Reverse switches will bring in some interesting effects. If you record Half speed and toggle the switch, it will double the "repeats" and vice versa. Same with the reverse-- just remember, it is only affecting the last phrase you played. You can tap these buttons in-time with your tempo you're playing at for some cool effects. (6) Hitting "Play Once" will stop the loop/trails completely. If you want to fade out, just stay on "record/overdub" and hold your last chord. This will trail out like a delay. --------------------------------------- Happy Looping/Delaying!!
  16. Mono/Stereo Table for the M-Series. Special Thanks to JimRyanLine6 who originally researched and created this list. True Stereo - Left input goes to the Left output, Right goes to the Right output, effect is added to each channel separately. Mono - Left input and Right input are summed to mono, effect is added to the mono signal which goes to both the Left and Right outputs. Stereo Thru/Mono Effect - Left input goes to the Left output, Right input goes to the Right output, Left input and Right input are summed to mono, effect is added to the mono signal which goes to both the Left and Right outputs. Stereo Thru/Stereo Effect - Left input goes to the Left output, Right input goes to the Right output, Left input is processed to create a stereo effect and mixed with the Left and Right outputs, Right input is processed to create a stereo effect and mixed with the Left and Right outputs. The difference between the last two is a mono effect will sound like it is in the center of the stereo field, a stereo effect will lay across the stereo field. mono_stereo.doc
  17. M9/M5 FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS NEEDED: A MIDI interface that connects to your computer via USB (download the current Driver for it if you don't have it installed) 2 MIDI cables (or a MIDI interface such as the M-Audio Uno that comes with attached MIDI cables) NOTE: Line 6 recommends a name brand USB to MIDI interface produced by an audio company that supports/updates their drivers. Good choices include: M-Audio, Edirol, E-Mu and MOTU. These interfaces have proven to be more robust and reliable when it comes to large MIDI transfers such as the M9 and M13 update. For further infomation on MIDI connectivity and interfaces, please go over the following MIDI Document Line 6 Monkey 1.35 or higher installed. Download and install the Line 6 Monkey software here Procedure Connect your MIDI interface to your computer via USB cable. Connect the M9/M5 MIDI Out to your MIDI interface In, and connect the M9/M5 MIDI In to your MIDI interface Out. Launch the Line 6 Monkey 1.35 (or higher) with the M9/M5 connected via the MIDI interface and powered on. Select the Flash Memory line item and click the Update Selection button to install the flash memory update into the M9/M5. The device will receive the firmware data and the unit will be updated to the latest Firmware. It sometimes takes 30 seconds to 1 minute to appear like the unit is receiving the update and takes several minutes to complete. The M9/M5 will re-initialize when the update is complete.
