  1. So, I've been working on putting together some bass tones for a big recording project. I've got a distorted tone I really like (a kind of TesseracT/Periphery distorted upper mids sort of thing), but I can't seem to nail the kind of clean tone I'm going for. I want something very crisp/glassy sounding, basically something like this with reverb optional. Everything I've tried has sounded really thin and lifeless or kind of "honky." Anyone got any pointers?
  2. A walkthrough of my Pantera/Dimebag tone!
  3. Has anyone managed to replicate Amos's (TesseracT) bass tone in the Helix? If so, how is it done?
  4. Hi Everyone, I've created two patches on my Spider IV 150HD head to emulate the Drive and Metal sounds of a restored 1992 vintage Crate Blue Voodoo BV-120H head plugged into a Blue Voodoo 4 x12 speaker cab (with the Crate speakers). The Spider IV is connected to a Line 6 4 x12 speaker cab with Line 6's custom Celestions. The patches can be found in Custom Tones as "Voodoo Drive" and "Voodoo Metal", dated 5/25/18. They were created so that the Gain, Tone (Bass, Mid, Treble), and Reverb knobs will match on both heads. The Metal patch sounds slightly better on the Spider IV than the Blue Voodoo, while the Drive patch might be better on the Blue Voodoo. This is with a passive EMG humbucker in the bridge position. Interesting. As you recall the all tube (4 -6L6 and 4-12AX7 Groove Tube) Blue Voodoo head has a very bright, glassy sound, almost too bright. The mid frequencies are very scooped. You control the brightness with the Blue Voodoo's Presence control. Set it to less than 40%. Since the Spider IV lacks a Presence adjustment, we use the Treble control of the Boost+EQ effect (FX1) to tweak the brightness, and the Tone adjustment in the Lux Reverb model (set it to max, 100%). Other details below. Use Spider IV edit with firmware 1.52 (minimum) or setup in Manual mode. Voodoo Drive: Metal Red Gain/Drive: 40 (same as on Crate BV) Bass: 65 (same as on Crate BV) Mid: 40 (same as on Crate BV) Treble: 65 (same as on Crate BV) Channel Vol: 60 FX1: Boost+EQ (post) Gain: 66% Mid: 25% Mid Freq: 40% Bass: 55 Treble: 85 Reverb: Lux Spring (post) Dwell: 20% Tone: 100% Mix: 50% (same as on Crate BV) Voodoo Metal: Metal Red Gain/Drive: 70 (same as on Crate BV) Bass: 90 (same as on Crate BV) Mid: 15 (same as on Crate BV) Treble: 65 (same as on Crate BV) Channel Vol: 60 FX1: Boost+EQ (post) Gain: 66% Mid: 25% Mid Freq: 40% Bass: 55% Treble: 85% Reverb: Lux Spring (post) Dwell: 20% Tone: 100% Mix: 50% (same as on Crate BV)

  7. A detailed walkthrough of my Pantera/Dimebag tone!
  8. Hey guys, Today I have a “Dimebag” Darrel / Pantera inspired guitar tone. I threw together some fun Pantera riffs to demo the tone. It’s more of a hybrid of Dime’s tone as it evolved through Reinventing the Steel. This was a lot of fun. I used Ownhammer impulses on this one. Their stuff is the best. I used a blend of: OH 412 ENG V30 421-FRED OH 412 ENG V30 421-EDGE FRED for cutting through and the EDGE for the chunk and low end. I used the LINE 6 Fatality model. CHAIN: PRS Tremonti SE loaded with Fishman Fluence Moderns Line 6 Helix Rack using the Line 6 Fatality amp model and Ownhammer Impulses Into the Universal Audio Apollo Twin which feeds Persons Studio One 3 Drums are Toontrack Superior Drummer 3

  11. Hey Guys, Today I have a Helix tone inspired by the Mighty Metallica. Dream No More is a heavy track off of Hardwired with a great groove and a, “Thing that should not be,†feel to it. I choose it because it’s one of my favorites of the album AND, it’s in D Standard so I didn’t have to mess with my tuning very much. CHAIN: PRS Tremonti SE loaded with Fishman Fluence Moderns Line 6 Helix Rack using the Cali IV Lead, based on a Mesa Boogie Mark IV Lead Channel for guitar and the SVT Beast Brt, which is based on an Ampeg SVT for bass IRs for guitar are none other than the OWNHAMMER OH 412 TRAD V60 MDRN-05 IRs for bass are the OWNHAMMER OH 410 AMPG SVT-10 CUT MIX and OWNHAMMER OH 410 AMPG SVT-10 PORT Into the Universal Audio Apollo Twin which feeds Logic Pro X all the lovely tones. 12. I'm new to Line 6 and playing around with my Spider IV HD150. Can anyone recommend a preset or setting to get close to the tone of this song? I did a search and didn't see much in regards to any Godsmack tones.
  13. Hey Guys, Today I have a Slipknot guitar tone for you. I took inspiration from the song Before I Forget off of the Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses album. 22. Hi guys! I just uploaded this new video. It's a Helix Native demonstration in 9 different styles ranging from clean to 8-string metal. I used different amp models and OwnHammer IR's for each tone. Helix Native is such a wonderful tool and I've been a fan ever since it came out. Working wth this plugin is just so easy and I get great results every single time! If I get enough requests I could do a tutorial for all the tones. Please enjoy:

  24. Hi everyone, Two years ago I purchased the Metal Pack for my HD500X, and haven't used it ever since. Today I turned on my HD500X and realised that all the content of the aforementioned bundle have disappeared. I checked out thoroughly even via the HD500X Edit programme, but no way - none of the following amp models was there: Peavey® 5150® (Block logo) Bogner® Shiva Remastered Marshall® JCM800 (Model 2204) Line 6 Insane Line 6 Big Bottom Line 6 Variac'ed Plexi Line 6 Purge Line 6 Aggro Line 6 Smash Line 6 Octone I also checked the purchase log on my Line6 account, and noticed that the invoice and activation key for the Metal Pack are still there. Is there a way to activate the Metal Pack again with the old activation key or am I supposed to spend another 50$ again for the same bundle? How can I bring back the amp models that I paid for? Please help and sorry in advance if a similar topic has already been opened in this forum.
  25. Hi guys, I installed Helix Native and I am very impressed! I had to make a metal video to see how well this plugin performs in a full band mix and I am VERY impressed. You just can't beat the functionality of this plugin. The fact that you can keep tweaking your Helix settings right until the very end without re-amping is a huge benefit. Not that it needs a lot of tweaking because it already sounds very good with minor tweaking. I'm using an Emperor 4x12 IR for the upcoming Heavy Hitters Collection by OwnHammer. The release of this amazing pack is coming very soon so stay tuned for that. I love this Emperor cab for huge rock and metal tones, it just sounds great. I'm using the C65 speaker option. I believe that's the stock speaker that came in this cab. Hope you enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI10V7JLeDU
