  1. Hi guys, Man, Line 6 did an INCREDIBLE job with that Badonk amp model. I honestly feel that for heavy music that amp model is my favorite amp in the Helix now. I used to be a big fan of the Big Bottom amp so naturally this one suits me well. The improvement however is definitely there. To me it feels and sounds more realistic and warm while still maintaining that HUGE crunch! Paired with the OwnHammer 412 Recto V70B it's just incredible..... I'm also digging the new Obsidian 7000 (Darkglass B7k) bass drive pedal. Anyway, so I made a video about these new features. Hope you enjoy this one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhdb2LUHATc
  2. Hello Folks, here is a little video about a song from the upcoming instrumental Fuge album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VutvvaLIykU played with my good old POD XT! enjoy! :)
  3. Hi everybody! I just finished a new tune with my new LTD Baritone guitar into the Helix and it's sounding pretty darn massive! Someone suggested that I try the Fatality Line 6 original amp with this guitar and it is a great pairing. This guitar is tuned to drop-Ab so the amp model has to handle the low tunings well. I did use a tubescreamer model up front though, to tighten up the low end more. For the Cab sound I used some new OwnHammer IR's from the 412 Recto cab which is available now at http://ownhammer.com/412-recto I used the V70B for the main rhythms and a couple of the other ones for the additional parts. It's safe to say this is by far my favorite cab to use now so I highly recommend checking it out! Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfaPyhrBkRA
  4. Hi everyone, Just released a new video. This one focuses on (modern) Metal sounds with the Cali IV amp model. I tried to make it as heavy as possible... After the song I also explain the preset and OH IR's I used. If you have any questions I'd be more than happy to answer them! Note that the bass parts were also done with the Helix. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN6hIRc9nv8
  5. Hey guys, I recently bought my Helix and so far I'm really happy with it. The song is the first I wrote with the Helix. Every guitar and bass you hear comes directly from the Helix with some Ownhammer IRs. For the drums I used Superior Drummer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQD5-HzWnLw Hope you enjoy it :) I'm glad about any kind of feedback. And happy new year of course!!
  6. Hi everyone! I'm new here but definitely not new to Line 6 as I have used their gear extensively for the past 15 years or so. I got my brand new Helix a few days ago and I am very happy with it! I made a video for my YouTube channel in which I give my initial impressions, show off some sounds (in a full mix, bass included) and I also talk a bit about using IR's with the Helix. I hope you enjoy this video, I sure had a blast making it. I'll be doing way more Helix videos in the future so if you are interested in seeing more please hit subscribe. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them all. Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYv_oCBCQ2M
  7. Has anyone tried the Fat Lazy Cabs pack on the Helix? Demos sound pretty good. http://fatlazycabs.b...t/fat-lazy-cabs I'm looking for good metal tone and considering: 1. Ownhammer 2. Redwirez 3. Fat Lazy cabs 4. Rosen Digital 5. 3 Sigma. What do you guys think?
  8. Hi There , I'd like to open up this thread as a repository for great metal tones to use with the Helix. I would also like some important criteria to be indicated when sharing presets. 1. Mix ready or stage ready 2. Suggested Pickup configuration 3. Sub-Genre (Progressive/ Death/ Djent etc.) 4. Suggested IRs (possibly direct share if free) 5. General tips/ improvements 6. Link to tone/ preset (possibly direct share if free) 7. Sound Sample if possible. There are of course in no particular order. Please upvote the tones you like as well.
  9. Hi there! I am using a Pod HD500 for live performance and a POD Desktop at home. They are running through 2 harley benton GPA-400 power amps wich connect to 2 seperate cabs. My question is, what is the best way to connect the pod to the power amps and what is the best for the settings. I connect the pod to the HB power amps via the normal left/right outputs. For the stereo effect the power amps are connected to 2 seperate Bugera cabs. Amp settings in the pod: I am using 2x threadplate pre amps w/412 blackback 30 cabs. Would it make more sence to skip the cabs in the threadplate and only use the actual cab (in this case my bugera cabs)? Also in the setup of the pod I put the output mode to: Stack power amp. Would this be the best way for this setup? For me this is the best I can get out of it right now, but I wonder how others are doing this. Thanks in advance! Floor/Korpse
  10. Hey everyone, I just recently got a 7-string guitar and I have been playing a ton of Northlane lately. Problem is I can't dial in the tone that they use so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help by creating a Northlane tone. I'm not experienced enough with the Pod to dial in the tone that they use so if anyone is a fan of Northlane and would like to help me out I would greatly appreciate it!
  11. Model: JTV-89f Firmware: 2.21 Pedal: POD HD500X and Helix I typically play rock and metal. When palm muting, I am trying to achieve a nice crisp sharp attack with heavy distortion. Even with the high gain pack, I cannot seem to achieve this sound. The notes all sound muddy. I have tried positioning the pickups in minor increments up and down in workbench HD and while the tone definitely changes from brighter to darker tones, the mud is present regardless of placement. Am I missing some settings? Is this style of sound simply not the intended aim of the JTV (it seems most of the models are for vintage guitars)? Just looking for some help / information on getting modern metal tones out of the guitar. Thanks!
  12. Hello people. I just bought a line 6 hd 500, i was playing on a POD 2.0 (the bean) and it´s so crazy screaming like a demmon, so i was wonder, if this bean sound like this, how can be the sound of a hd500? so i bought it.... But .... one of two, or i´m so silly to configurate this one or my amp is not giving the goal..... My Amp is a line6 spider 4 120... i hace been watching videos, i read the manuals.... and i can´t to fine the right sound for a distortion for death metal.... The mine is so dirty.... i´m searching for crunch, weight and definition.... somebody over here posted a setting for download.... i did it and its works fine, but...i´d like to try something better.... There someone who share some configurations for download and i could try this ones? Thanks
  13. Hello, I have had my Pod HD 500x for over 2 years and I am very happy with it. I have learned many things regarding the wonderful world of tech knowledge and effects. I have always been more of a player than a gear head. So my understanding of certain effects and specs is very limited. I run my Pod through my Soldano Lucky 13 Tube Amp and it sounds great on many of my tones. I am happy with my Blues Overdrive tones and clean tones. I even have a decent classic rock AC/DC sounding patch I created using a Plexi Lead Bright Amp. My downfall in tone creation is my limited understanding of Compressors, Noisegates, EQ, and things like that. My goal is to try to create a tight sounding Metal tone. I am looking for a Lamb Of God kind of sound (obviously I don't expect to play or sound like Mark or Willy from Lamb Of God) however, that is my desired style of tone. I have a pretty plain patch created where the only thing in the chain is the Treadplate amp with a good amount of drive and basic configurations of the amp knobs. It sounds good but it's lacking good sustain and it's not very clear when I play leads. It sounds muddy and I know I can change it but I am not sure where to start. I gave up on noisegates because it clips my leads when I try to sustain. I'd rather just deal with the amp buzz than sacrifice tone. My real question is about compressors. There's the blue comp, Red comp, Vetta Juice... I have zero clue what these do and how to use them but obviously they are useful because I see many people have them in their effects chains. What do each of them do? And where do I start? I know I am a total tech dummy but I figure the only way to learn is to ask people who do know and experiment with it. I noticed there is different types of EQ's I can use too. Why is that? I normally use Global EQ but my understanding of that is limited. Also where do I put these effects in my chain? Before or after the amp? Do add extra distortion to an already overdriven amp? I've seen people add overdrives to amp models that are already overdriven. It just sounds awful when I do it. But I assume there is a good way to do it. This piece of equipment is very deep in details and I do love it however, I find myself confused a lot. I figure I can also improve some of my current tones if I learn more about EQ and compressors. One of my biggest complaints with my Marshall tone is that there is hardly any sustain of my bends. The tone just goes flat. I am using a Gibson Les Paul and Gibson SG by the way. Thanks in advance for answers. I realize there is alot to answer in my post.
  14. Hi everyone, really hope someone can help. I best start with my live setup... Krank Revolution series 1 head Pod HDPro Marshall 4x12 Ibanez RGD 7 string Basically, I'm looking for any help getting a high gain, dual amp sound. I literally just read that the best sound for the setup I'm using would be to use pre amp models instead of full, but I won't have chance to test this theory til our show on Saturday. At the moment, I'm using the Angel F-ball with parametric EQ in front (I've got the usual tube screamer, compressor, gates etc as well) with no cab sim for the first chain. Second part of the chain I'm using the Uber (pretty much same setup on the f-ball with different gain, eq and bias settings). It all sounds pretty thin and fizzy and super processed. That heavy saturated, dual amp Arch Enemy style tone is similar to what I want to achieve. Thoughts on whether pre would be better? My clean channel is also dual (clean) amps (no cab sim), but it's still super quiet. Lead is similar to my rhythm channel with more mids, tiny bit more gain, delay and a chorus. I was looking into the 4 cable method and using the tone from the Krank (best scenario), but I don't have a midi foot controller to be able to change patches and amp channels. Plus that thing is LOUD... Another thing I was going to mention was the whole delay trail thing while switching channels, but I guess that's something I'll have to live with. I do miss having that little trail off after a solo when switching back to rhythm. Bit too static with the HDPro :( Anyway, if any of you can make sense of this immense mass of words, it would be a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge help! Thanks in advance!
  15. Hey guys, Just wanted to share this piece of music we released about a year ago. Have a nice thursday everyone.

  17. So I had it all set up to get a new rig and yesterday my car decided to lollipop out on me and I had to pay a huge bill to get it repaired. I now only have a 2x12 cab and my HD500 and I've been reading around and found I can get a power amp to get a good signal from my HD500 to my cab, but mostly I see XLS1000 or so which put out 1000w of power so how is it that people can use this without blowing there speakers? Do they just crank the HD500 master and just leave the power amp at maybe 2? And if we're having a loud practice or playing shows how could I turn it up without blowing anything? I'm really looking for as much info as possible on this because now my dream rig is out of my reach and this is the only other thing I can do with having a brand new 2x12 sitting around collecting dust. I've been looking at an XLS, QSC, and my buddy at GC was looking around at his used stuff and saw an Altec Lansing 1210 and said it maybe awesome to try and only cost $60. Thanks for looking!
  18. I tried my best to get a Line 6 Helix - Metal video up as soon as possible so people can know what to expect and how it performs in a studio setting. Here's what I came up with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVRS-Z9Eb34 I used the stock noise gate, screamer 808 and ANGL Meteor with a downloaded Impulse Response (Engl Special Edition) from here (http://www.freemusiciansresource.com/VST-detail/huge-collection-of-metal-cabinet-impulses/) (follow the relink in the article comments). I used an LTD Vampire Biotech M guitar with an EMG 81 bridge pickup Settings are: Noise Gate: Threshold -30db, Decay 188ms, Level 0.0db Screamer 808: Gain 2.6, Tone 0.0, Level 6.7 Amp: Drive 9.1, Bass 4.8, Mid 7.1, Treble 5.2. 19. Here is a video I did showing the difference changing only the cab from stock to 3rd party can make. There is no post processing on the guitars at all so you can hear the real difference. All amp settings were kept the same.
  20. Here is a video I did comparing the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier (Red Channel) vs the Pod HD Pro X Treadplate model. I just did this as a comparison video just to see how close I could get the Pod to sound like the Rectifier using only the effects, amps, and cabs available in the Pod. They are somewhat similar, but I like both the sounds and would have no problem using either one on a recording.
  21. They appear on my pod but not in hd pro x edit. Help?
  22. As mentioned in the title, I humbly seek ye veteran “Pod heads†for advice on dialing in a tone specifically for double tracking. Looking for something like Tesseract’s rhythm tone. I think they are using 6505s. I would be helpful if someone can suggest the best amp/cab/mic combo for this, and the settings on them. I’ve been messing with the 5150 (PV Panama) with a Screamer and hard gate before the amp, and mid-focus EQ after the amp. Sounds pretty good when playing alone, but double-tracked in a mix (plus drums and bass), it’s maybe 70% of a solid rhythm tone; sounds good, but maybe lacking a bit of punch, or a little something that I can't put my finger on. From what I gathered, for double-tracked guitar parts, I should lower the gain a little to increase clarity. My Mid on the amp is currently quite high at around 80%. Exactly how different are double-tracking tones compared to single ones, and how differently should I approach this? Is there a recommended process for dialing in tones specifically for this? Right now the only reliable way I can hear the end result is to record the sound double-tracked and listen to the playback. Quite a long, incremental process. I don’t really play metal, but need this for my latest project. And it feels like a great opportunity to learn something different. So, any help will be greatly appreciated.
  23. Hi Can i use a wah pedal between the guitarra and Ux2? Is that the correcta way to connect a wah pedal to Ux2? Thanks
  24. Hi. I play heavy metal and used to record with Abelton live lite 7. I'm about to buy a new Ux2, bit the new ones only comes with Reason Limited software, and no Riff Works or Abelton. 1) Is Reason Limited abel to record as Abelton? 2) What's the difference between Reason Limited and Reason Adapted? 3) Does Reason Limited allows plugins like Ezdrummer and Isotope Ozone? Thanks
  25. Hey guys, Check out my latest video showcasing the new 5150 amp model.
