Hey guys, Im having trouble with my XLR microphone that is hooked up to my UX1 interface. The green light is on indicating that the computer has detected the device (and yes I downloaded the drivers from this site) but it is still not picking up sound. I have tested this mic before and the interface but it doesnt seem to be working this time. PLEASE HELP THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Greetings fellow forum-ites Recently bought a condenser mic to use with my Helix. Plug it in and turn on phantom power then start to bring up the mic gain and all is good..... ...plug in the USB cable and all of a sudden there is horrendous noise. This noise translates to recordings also. Moving the mouse around modulates the noise. This does not happen when using Variax or Guitar. I'm not really sure I understand why the USB input/output is involved in the gain and input for the microphone. As I said without the USB cable inserted there is no noise and everything is good. Anyone else experiencing this?

So sorry if this is a newbie question but i've tried for days to try to find an answer before posting and I cannot for the life of me figure it out. So I have Live 3x. I have an external microphone pointed at my amp connected to the 3x ( As my audio interface.. the usb cable is connected to my windows 10 laptop)... I also have external pedals that I am trying to use WITH the Live 3x... wanting to use some delays from the live 3x with this boss distortion pedal... I am also trying to recording all of my pedals and the live 3x from the amp. Using the microphone I have connected to the 3x.... Now... I have Ableton Live 9 .. I cannot figure out how to 1. Get the external amps to work with the live 3x and 2. How to recording all of these things using the external microphone that I have.. I know my questions are all over the place but i'm just really cluster f#$%# and I can't figure anything out.. Really any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot.

So I have owned a UX2 with a MXL 990 mic for awhile now but recently I've noticed an issue, namely that after about 5 to 10 minutes of playing a video game, with PodFarm open, the microphone no long picks up my voice. The meters on podfarm move half a bar or so, if I tab out of the game and wait, sometimes the mic will come back, only to cut out again when I tab back in. I've tried multiple usb ports Using both Mic inputs I changed my power plan for both the USB and Hard disk I raised the buffer size I updated drivers But nothing seems to do the trick. It only seems to happen when playing a game, it doesn't effect skype or anything else that would use my microphone. Is there something I missed? I hope someone can be of help Thank you.

Does anyone know if my HD500 will work with a condenser microphone? I'm pretty sure I have set the inputs up correctly on the HD500 but am wondering if the XLR microphone connection does not provide the phantom power supply the mic needs I looked around to try and find the technical specifications for the HD500 but couldn't find it anywhere

I tried to provide some background as to why I am using this routing scheme but if you prefer not to read about my opinion on DSP limitations and want to get directly to how to get the max processing power available for the electric in a "hybrid" preset please feel free to skip right down to the "Method for using more DSP intensive electric guitar patch and also setting up acoustic guitar or Mic patch within the same preset:" You can also download the Template from the Line6 CustomTone library for this preset at http://line6.com/customtone/tone/1460280/ . Well, I just hit my first DSP limited issue. I know DSP limitations are currently an issue on every manufacturers equipment be it Boss, Axe, Line6 or whoever, but man are they a drag! The DSP limitations force you to pick mono where maybe you wanted stereo, not use certain effects, and not be able to utilize all of the slots available in the routing paths. I look forward to a time when we look back at DSP issues as an obsolete and ridiculous hardware problem. It just seems inane to get a "Not enough DSP" message or have effects grayed out. In essence the system is telling you, "I don't have powerful enough or adequate hardware to allow the full potential of the operating system"; despite the fact that the Helix is using state of the art hardware. Either that or even worse, other manufacturer's multi-effect units will limit you as to which effects you can double up on or use such that you never see the "Out of DSP" message even though the DSP is maxed. I am not picking on Line6 as this is a limitation on all current hardware platforms available. Line6 definitely made the best choice regarding DSP limitations, opting for maximum flexibility for the user instead of hiding the message by limiting what you can do. I can only get about 12 out of the 16 available blocks on a single Serial path (Path 1) loaded up. After block number 12 the Helix tells me there is not enough DSP to load block 13. Your results may vary depending on what you are trying to load up. I realize certain effects, stereo effects, and amp-cab blocks use more DSP but I am loading mono versions of whatever I can. Has anyone tried to load up 16 blocks on Path 1? I think you will find that depending on which effects you choose, even in mono, you will be challenged to be able to actually use all 16 blocks without getting an 'out of DSP' message or seeing an all gray screen when you try to add another effect. Yes, you can get more processing power and available blocks when you add Path 2 for a "Super Serial" setup but I was hoping to use Path 2 solely for my acoustic guitar or a microphone. And of course, even if you run in Super Serial you probably won't be able to use even close to all 32 blocks (not that I can ever see needing that many for one input/patch). I like having both guitars set up in one preset as I have found that when I have a separate preset for the acoustic guitar, when I am switching guitars during a gig, every once in a while I forget to either switch to the patch for the acoustic or forget to switch back when I go back to the electric. Of course, having a separate preset(s) for the acoustic is a perfectly acceptable solution as well and should get you around any DSP limitations. However if you are trying to use an electric guitar and a Mic in the same patch this routing scheme may be your best option. Method for using more DSP intensive electric guitar patch and also setting up acoustic guitar or Mic patch within the same preset: The following is a routing scheme that devotes up to the maximum DSP power and 24 blocks to the electric guitar while leaving 8 blocks available for a second input such as acoustic guitar or mic. I use this for presets where Path 1 alone does not have enough DSP for my electric guitar patch. This routing scheme gives me all the available DSP for the electric but also allows me to have a separate path for my acoustic or a mic : You can download the Template from the Line6 CustomTone library for this preset at http://line6.com/customtone/tone/1460280/ Note: You can use the Line6 Super Serial x2 template as a starting place for this routing scheme. Make sure you turn the 1A Output block's "Level" all the way down per the manual's instructions for "Super Serial". You will also have to drag down the split and merge blocks on the 2A path to get the separate route for your mic or acoustic. I also set the split blocks on Path 1 & Path 2 to "A/B" split and sent 100% of the signal to the B path. I ended up using a Super Serial x2 setup (Path1 routed to Path2) where the first three "bars" of the paths are used for my electric and the last bar is used for my acoustic. There is a method (drag down the split and merge blocks in Path2) when using Super Serial that allows you to separate out the last path "bar" such that you can route the acoustic or a mic into, for example, the Aux or "Mic In" input, and send it to a different output than the one you are using for your electric. In other words you can route the first three bars (24 blocks) of a Super Serial output for electric and use the last bar (8 blocks) with a separate input and output for your acoustic guitar or a microphone. This is what I am doing and it allows me to pick up and play either my electric or my acoustic without changing the preset. You probably won't use all 24 blocks for your electric patch but bridging from Path1 to Path2 will give you enough DSP to run more complex DSP combinations for the electric. I set up a Template for this routing scheme. I am thinking that ideally rather than each Path (Path 1 & Path 2) being allotted exactly half the DSP processing power on the Helix, that it would be much better if each path was dynamically allotted as much of the total combined power of the 2 DSPs as it required; limited obviously by the total power of the two DSP chips on the Helix. That way if you require more DSP for Path1 than Path2 you would not potentially be forced to use a Super Serial route. This would allow for much more flexible path setups. It would be really helpful to have a screen showing how much DSP each block uses so I could do a more effective job of balancing and figure out where the DSP "hogs" are I am wondering if there optimizations to the code that will allow the amps and effects to use less DSP without losing resolution or sound quality? If so, are these part of the future firmware revision plans?

Any experiences with the M5 as voice processor? I'd like to have it between a dynamic vocal microphone and the mixer in live gigs. Specifically, does the M5 have balanced inputs and outputs? And can it cope with microphone levels? Thanks a lot!

Hi. Can you use a microphone with Sonic Port. I read on another thread that you could, indeed, plug a mic into either the quarter inch jack or the 3.5mm input and it would work. Is this accurate? Thanks.

Just got the L2t and I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. All the videos I've see show that you simply plug a microphone into the front panel (input 1 or 2) and away you go. I've tried two different mic's and I don't get any sound out of the speakers. Do I need to go through a phantom power setup or something, or do I have a bad rig? The mic's are brand new too and work with my PreSonus.

So I just bought studio ux1 yesterday and downloaded POD Farm 2 after long time of researching (seems like it isn't be working on yosemite but I managed to download it), Line 6 Monkey, and license manager. The problem is not matter how I set the settings on the computer itself's or POD farm 2, guitar and microphone won't sound yet they are plugged in. For guitar, I thought I'll just have to plug it in to ux1 and open POD farm 2 for it to work, right? For microphone I really don't have a clue, please help me :( Also I can't download GearBox, is that a long term problem for mac yosemite already?

I've got a small diaphragm matched pair condenser mic set and I've been trying to figure out how to get the M20d mixer to let me convert two XLR inputs (from these mics) into a stereo input. I'm wanting to do this so I don't have to switch back and forth on the Tweak page between the mics. I want to set them up identically essentially with one panned to the right and one panned to the left. Any ideas on the best way to do this?

A few months ago, I got a new microphone and preamp and did a handful of recordings though my old TonePort KB37. The preamp has a balanced TRS output and an XLR output, so I connected it with a balanced TRS cable to the KB37's Line 1 input. Because I just wanted a dry vocal signal, I didn't install Pod Farm or any of that stuff, just the driver. Recently, I've switched to recording on my POD HD500X. To record dry vocals, I just switch on the tuner (in bypass mode) or use an empty preset. However, I noticed that my recordings sounded very different. So, I did some side-by-side comparisons. I also tested the Mic input on the KB37. What I found out is that everything sounds exactly the same except the KB37's line input. I've attached some samples for comparison (the HD500X recording was connected with a TRS cable via the Aux input). Is there any explanation as to why the line input on the KB37 sounds this way? Hey I bought my UX1 a few days ago and well, i dont have a clue, how I record my vocals with the mic. My guitar works perfectly, but the mic (shure sm58) doesnt.. Do i have to choose the mic in pod farm or something? And if so, how do i do that? btw sorry for my englisch, im german^^

Hello I have a question. I have this preset for my mic on pod farm and it sounds great, but there is a slight hiss or a buzz that can be heard at the end of sentences. It is very very slight, but I would like it to be gone. The pre set is made up of a noise gate with the threshold at 70 db and decay that 0. A male De-Esser frewuency set to 3.5 and the amount set to 65. the vintage uk set with the drive at 90 and the volume at 100. And last but not least is the 4 band eq which is the gains and frequencies are A:9.2dB,455hz B:-0.1dB,250hz C:5.9dB, 100hz D:-0.1db, 3.0khz freq. That is the exact preset now I have fiddled with the noise gate and the gain on the acutal interface I have,but nothing. Could it be something in the EQ? If you have any idea how to fix this please let me know. That or if someone could redirect me to a new preset settings. I was going for just a clear,warm, almost raido like quality when speaking.

Hey there. I tried searching around for a topic that might help me resolve the issues I seem to be having,but everything I have tried seems to be failing. Im using Reaper with my UX2.I have a Seinheisse E825 S running in with an XLR using either Gearbox or PodFarm I was trying to run the channel in dry,as I want it sound as natural as possible as I have it mic'd up to my HD147,but when I record,the volume seems to be incredibly low on playback. Can anyone tell me if I might be doing something worng? I also seem to get latency issues through my headphones when playing. Im completely stumped,but if any other info is needed to help me get up and running (I'm kinda new to this,so I could even be wrong with some of the terminology Im using) I can provide it,and I'd be grateful for any help

Hi there, I am a solo musician based in Spain and I have a couple of question. I have a few g30 systems for my show as It was a similar price to buy the whole system as it was to buy the transmitters separate. I want to connect the v75 mic with the g30 receiver. I plan on going from the g30 receiver, which is placed inside a large pedalboard, to a vocal pedal. It says on this site that the v75 is compatible with the g30, but are there any flaws I will run into if I use a g30 receiver instead of the proper kit? will I need anything else to make it work properly? and also what benefits will I get if I use the normal xd-v75 system instead of the g30 receiver? Hi, just looking for some quick help. I'm currently using a Line 6 UX1 with PodFarm 2.5 through Logic Pro 9. I've had no issue with recording guitars, but when I went to use the microphone, I noticed there was no input. I have looked through a few other forums and seen where the option to change input is meant to be found and have had no luck within Pod Farm (Please see screenshot for view of problem area) I have tried running Pod Farm in standalone mode too and also had the same issue. I have all current drivers and licenses installed and authorised, this is my only issue with any of the Line6 software I currently have. Help much appreciated, thankyou Tom

Right , so I got the Line 6 Po Studio GX and tried to install the thing . It was all good until I reached the point when it asked if I allow the program to use the speakers/microphone . When I pressed 'allow' The installation froze . I also tried 'don't allow' to see if it makes a differance , but nope the same thing happened again.... A reply would be very much appriciated.

Hi everyone, I've recently got a mic/headphone headset, the kind you'd use for Skype or gaming, with the intention of using it with my TonePortGX, so I can listen to myself sing while I play. I can't seem to get the TonePortGX to recognize the mic, although it works fine with the headphones part of the headset. There must be some singing guitarists out there, so I was wondering if anyone uses the TonePort in this way. I also tried to get the TonePort's signal to go out of my laptop speakers (in which case I could just plug the headset into the laptop, which would recognise the mic) but no success either... Hi all, I´m just experimenting with the best channel strip Setting for my bass cajon. Just imagine my bass cajon is a double sized cajon mounted to a plate and played with a special foot pedal like a bass drum. Right now I placed a bass drum Micro (Shure pg52) on a stand in front of the other side of the cajon just like you would do with a normal bass drum. I´m using the Country bass drum channel strip. Somehow I don´t feel like I´m getting the kick I would like to have. Has anyone suggestions on how I can improve the sound? Maybe by using the Cajon preset instead of a bass drum one or placing the mic right at the foot pedal side pointing it to the Point where the pedal hits the cajon? I don´t Need the high slap Sound because I use two cajons (devided to the bass cajon played by foot and a Cajinto used like a snare (where I´m satisfied with the Sound using a snare preset, just not satisfied with the tbone CD35 mic (cheapest you can get out there :)), have to replace it soon also to a shure, maybe pg56 or SM57)

Hello guys! I'm interested in this nice product, but still have a question about the input of Sonic Port. As I can connect with a electric guitar/ acoustic guitar with pickup/ or a synth, but is it possible to use a microphone with it? I think on the item site, line6 doesn't mention it. Just wonder if anyone knows that :) Thank you all!

not sure how to adjust microphone volume on presets. Tried the trim nob, menu system, all and any external volume knobs. Also some of the preset pairs, I can't get any volume at all.

I have been using my POD Studio UX1 to record electric guitar DI with great success (or at least with very few technical issues) for the past few years. More recently I have ventured into the scary world of recording acoustic guitar and vocals. For this I have been using a rather low-budget dynamic microphone (Superlux TOP-258) running into the UX1 XLR input. It has always frustrated me that I cannot seem to get sufficient gain when recording my acoustic guitar this way. I have cranked the mic gain rotary nob all the way, hit the +18db boost button in POD farm, etc. I previously used Cubase to record, but have since switched to Cockos Reaper. Needless to say, the low mic gain issue persisted despite the DAW switch. Suspecting that the low gain might have something to do with my low-budget mic, I decided to invest in a Shure SM57 (the fact that I use the word "invest" in this context should give you a clear indication of my budget...), hoping that results would improve. To my dismay, however, the low mic gain issue not only remains unsolved, but actually seems worse with the SM57 than the Superlux mic. I feel somewhat at a loose end. I have seen reviews of the SM57 where it is plugged directly into some USB audio interface (just like I do with my UX1) and the artists manage to record acoustic guitar with tons of gain (or so it seems from my perspective). To make it clear: I am running the SM57 directly into the XLR input on the UX1 via an XLR-XLR cable, gain is turned up 7/8ths of the way, directly into my DAW (any more mic gain and the white noise becomes rediculous). The gain when recording vocals (using only a pop-filter between the vocalist and the mic) is acceptable, but still not fantastic. The noise to signal ratio when recording my acoustic guitar, though, is atrocious. Can any one offer advice as to what the problem may be? Could it be the XLR cable? Could there be something worng with my UX1? Is the amount of maximum amount of gain I can hope to get out of the UX1 simply to little to ever be able to record acoustic guitar with a dynamic mic at an acceptable signal-to-noise ratio? Any inputs are appreciated, though may I kindly request that you refrain from suggestions that I purchase a condenser mic (I have noted a trend on these forums to recommend condenser mics as a sort of panacea to any type of mic gain query, even when the purchase thereof is not an option (for whatever reason) to the OP. Given the UX1's lack of phantom power, purchase of a condenser mic would in any case neccesarily imply purchasing a different audio interface, in which event I may as well consider getting an entirely different interface with better preamps and, more importantly, more input gain than the UX1.)

Hi all, I'm wondering what's the best way to use the HD500 for microphone. We'll be recording on PC so what's the best input output settings? We'd be recording guitar separate so Input 1: mic., input 2: Variax? Output: Studio/direct. I suspect HD500 is used more for FX than amps so what FX do you find to be best and in what order? After doing a search for 'microphone' on Customtone, no patches come up. Keen to see how others have set their patches for microphone. s
