  1. Hi, I just bought Peak FCB4N2 to use with my HX Stomp. I thought that I would be able to assign pedals to Peak's footswitches but I still can't find a way to do it. Right now I can only change presets. I've tried the learning function in bypass assign but it still doesn't registered to the FS. Is it Possible at all since Peak labeled it as midi switching product? I'm quite new to MIDI control stuff. Please excuse my english, it's not my native language.
  2. I have the Helix set up to send midi program changes to my Bias Amp to switch amps per snapshot. Problem is, when I switch presets on the HX EFX, I still have to go in and hit a snapshot to send the program change. I would like to change the amp when I change presets. Is there any way to send a PC message on preset change?
  3. Hi! I'm sending this message regarding the Variax setup of a friend. First he bought a Line 6 Variax JTV 69S (sunburst strat) and played it through his HD500 pod into a 2x12 clean amp. But he read, heard and saw so many good things about the new Variax equipment that he decided to give it a spin. Over the last year he picked up a DT25 (1x12 combo) and a DT50 (2x12 combo). About a month ago he completed the setup with buying the main processor, the Helix Floorboard. Everything seems to be working fine. We followed the manual while setting up and it's all registrered in his Line 6 account. It's up and running in Monkey 6, line 6 updater and the Helix firmware is updated to the latest version. But we can't get the amplifiers to work from the floorboard. The 69S is connected to the floorboard through Variax Digital Interface cable. Then we hooked up the L6 line from the board to DT25 and then DT50. No result. Then we added the Midi cables (brand Roland black series) from Floorboard out/thru -> DT25 in & DT25 thru -> floorboard in. Just to see if it would work on 1 amp. No result. Plus when changing the pentode/triode switch on the amp it started to make loud burning, crackling, buzzing noises. (I think that was caused by the connection of the L6 AND midi.) We disconnected the L6 link. Also without result. Tried the same with the DT50. After not getting any result we tried to update the amplifier's firmware through midi, but it didn't get recognized. This guide: Everytime we get the same 'undefined error'. Midi device is the Helix Floorboard of course. We have absolutely no idea how to fix this and get the amps to respond to Helix floorboard adjustments. Already tried A/B'ing some settings in the floorboard menu. Hopefully somebody has any idea what can be wrong and how this can be solved. With kind regards! J.
  4. Hi all, I've added an MIDI controller to expand the controls so that I can move between presets and snapshots without leaning down to use the control wheels and/paging buttons. It's also allowed me to move the tap tempo function off the third foot switch. I'm using the Disaster Area Designs DMC-3XL Gen 3. A great product and incredible customer service. Super excited, went back to my presets and learned that, well, I have lost the ability to toggle between expression pedal 1 and expression pedal 2 on the Mission Helix expression. Understand how/why that happened. I cannot find a MIDI CC & # to execute the toggle between expression 1 and expression 2. If it is there an MIDI CC & # and I am missing it, does anyone know? If not, is there a way to suggest it as a product improvement to Line 6? I see reserved and unassigned CC#/values so I am optimistic... Thanks in advance.
  5. hello everybody! i'd like to try the following: put a VST synth with arpeggiator on a track play sound on it with my usb master keyboard keep vst in sync with a midi pattern on another track I.e.: vst track must generate sounds only when pressing the master keyboard but the sync time must be given by another midi (silent) pattern/track. I basically would like to replicate on Cubase what this guy does in analog (synth octave bass pattern): can somebody help me? thanks
  6. I'm using the hx stomp in as a send/return block in the hxfx so allt the effects are placed in the hxfx. Also using Midi from hxfx out to hx stomp in. What I'm aiming at though is from hxfx:s snapshot mode, switching amp models but I don't get it to work as I want it to. If I'm on preset 001(01A) on the hxfx, the same preset is set in the hx stomp. I want to be able to have whatever preset on the hx stomp from whatever preset on the hxfx. What bothers me is that if I want to change snapshot on the hxfx and snapshot or preset on the hx stomp it doesn't work because the hx stomp is only using the preset that corresponds to the one the hxfx is on. Any help would be very appreciated. Cheers from Sweden / Kristoffer
  7. How to turn a modest MIDI device on a monster controller for your HX STOMP!! https://gumroad.com/l/bcZWg Maybe the iCon G-Board has ever called your attention as a possible partner for your HX STOMP. It's small, light, and has those typical guitar switches ... Oh no! It connects via USB and has no power connector, what a disappointment! You also can't store presets banks, and... don't even have a screen! But it can be powered through the Apple CCK USB 3 (also feeding the iPad), it is in a Class-Compliant device, it has eight beautiful LEDs on board, and the most important thing: it also receives MIDI! Therefore, we just need a brain for it, something like an iPad, the wonderful MIDI Designer Pro 2 app, a wireless MIDI interface, and spend several dozen hours to create a semi-decent MIDI template. Or you can spend a few bucks to have this one: https://gumroad.com/l/bcZWg The top row controls the presets, which you choose from your iPad by sliding your finger on the selectors. Only one of the four LEDs will remain active, both on the pedalboard and on your screen. You can also automatically save 8 banks of 4 presets (A-H), each of them identified with a funny icon in the upper right of the screen. The lower row contains the three Snapshot footswitches. Again, only the LED from the last selected FS will remain active. The button in the lower right corner of the pedalboard is something special: it works in momentary mode and can act as any of the HX Stomp footswitches, from one to five. There is a 5-position selector around this footswitch, whose buttons also function as momentary push-buttons, so you can also activate them from the screen. The large preset marker at the top center of the screen receives MIDI from the HX STOMP, as well as the looper buttons (remember that for the looper to work, it must be included in the effect chain) You will also find other usual controls such as the mode selector, the Tap Tempo button, tuner, bypass, etc. All this in a single-screen, colorful interface. No configuration is required by the user. Perhaps the easiest way in the world to use your HX STOMP. Seriously. So easy to use that even a child will want to do it. The requirements are: HX STOMP Apple iPad Apple CCK USB 3, cable and charger iCon G-Board (cable is provided) Yamaha MD-BT1 or Quicco M.1 (wireless MIDI-BT interface) MIDI Designer Pro 2 (IOS App) This MIDI Layout (Now available) We could consider that it is a form of semi-tethered connection, in the sense that we will connect the iPad and the pedal board to each other, and both to an AC connector through the USB3 CCK, on the one hand, and the data will travel wirelessly to the HX STOMP, which It can be a few meters away, sitting calmly on top of your amp, while your iPad faces the stage. Sit on your couch with your iPad and your G-Board, and enjoy your HX STOMP with this superb controller. It also works without the G-Board! (so you can use it right now, while ordering your G-Board at your nearest store) See you soon! Ed.
  8. Icon G-board for HX STOMP (iPhone version) https://gum.co/ALVVU New Premium MIDI Layout for MIDI DESIGNER PRO 2 ( IOS App, sold separately) - Works as an enterely wireless MIDI controller (using the yamaha or the Quicco MIDI-BT wireless adapter) - Also works with USB cable (using an Apple CCK connected to the HX STOMP USB) - Provides full hardware support for the iCon G-Board (MIDI footcontroller), including the eight onboard LEDs. Requires the Apple CCK USB3 and the Wireless MIDI-BT device to work. Main Screen: - Covers almost all HX STOMP MIDI implementation. (the "Play Once" button was deliberately ommited in this version) - Adds memory for 8 banks (A-H) of 4 Presets. (no more running correlative presets Up and Down!) Performance Screen: - Once you have set your banks in the main screen, load this Performance view to have a real Head Up Display for your HX STOMP. Includes the most relevant performance controls and a funny icon for each Bank! Icon G-Board: - Upper row: FS 1-4 (selectable Presets on the iPhone Screen) X 8 Banks (A-H) 1/4 LED active - Lower row: Snapshots 1-3. Super FS momentary footswitch (selectable FS 1-5 function) 1/3 LED active + 1 momentary
  9. Hi gang, It seems the Helix Rack's looper can't stop playback and start a new recording whilst in playback mode unless it receives a stop-playback MIDI CC message first. It also seems the stop-playback message needs to be received 20-21ms before the start-recording message, otherwise the latter is sometimes/often not acknowledged. Is there any way to have the start-recording function override and force playback to stop? Or alternatively is there an adjustable setting that'll make the Helix process the pair of stop/start of messages quicker? I'm looking for immediacy with this so I can emulate glitching effects. Sending the two messages within 15-20ms is useable yet unreliable, and anything under 15ms registers only the stop-playback message, leaving the start-recording message overlooked. Anything above 21ms is consistently reliable, but the latency is off-putting. What are my options? Cheers! Dawes
  10. Hello together, i come from Germany and my english is not so good. I have Issues with the Midi Implementation with the Helix and my JVM 410 HJS Head. In Preset and Stomp Mode I can teach Midi Commands from Helix to my JVM. Good so far. But in Snapshot Mode i can't teach the Helix to change CC# Commands. I instruct the Instant Button to learn the CC# Commands for my JVM. So well, the Value are working and move but the CC# Commands parameters do not move. Its still the same on all Snapshots. Presetmode not working fine because of interruption by switching Presets. I need the Snapshot Mode, definitely. I hope somebody can help me
  11. According to page 49 in the Stomp's manual "Synchrozining Tempo via MIDI", I should be able to synchronize the "beginning" of my modulation effects by tapping the tap tempo button once (e.g. the tremolo wave starts loudest on 1 of the song and not between beats). This works great when not using an external MIDI clock. But somehow the TAP once is ignored when using a MIDI clock and the modulation does not reset / is likely off because I cannot sync the MIDI clock of my controller with the band's click. Am I missing anything or is this currently not working with a MIDI clock? It is specifically mentioned in the MIDI section though
  12. Hey, Came across a weird midi snag which has only occurred on one preset (so far). I've got around it but I would love to know what was causing it if anyone can help. I've set up automation from Ableton using CC69 to change snapshots and PC messages select presets. It's fantastic. Just one of my presets did not want to behave. The PC message selected the preset but... at the beginning of the song, with the CC69 demanding snapshot 1; the light on the helix was indicating snapshot 2 with the actual sound being kind of snapshot 1 but with some differences. As the song progressed and other snapshots were demanded, the sound changed but the indication remained on snapshot 2. My fault diagnosis: I've tried a different midi track which works perfectly on another preset and got the same results. I saved a different preset into the offending preset's slot and it works perfectly. I saved a backup copy of the offending preset into the slot and it misbehaves. Therefore, there is something wrong with this preset and I can't even begin to imagine what could be wrong with a preset to make it not like midi. I've got around the issue by just creating a new preset, I just want to understand. Any ideas? To reiterate... there is nothing wrong with the midi implementation, I've proved this by substituting other presets. It is the preset at fault... somehow. Oh, and I'm on latest firmware etc. PSA the offending preset if anyone wants to take a look. Thanks Shut up & dance.hlx
  13. Hi! I have a Helix LT, a Keith Mcmillen 12 step with Keith Mcmillen Midi expander, and a Roland Integra-7. I am mainly a guitarist, but I use the 12 step as a midi controller to play keys/synth through the Integra-7. Because I have different patches for different songs on both the Helix and the 12 step, I would like to set up my helix to do all the preset changes. So basically what I want to do is to send a midi program change to the 12 step when I select a spesific preset on the Helix, so I don't have to change presets on a lot of devices between the songs in a live set. Does anyone know how I can set this up on the helix?
  14. Hi, New HX Stomp user here! I'll try to ask this question as clearly as possible.... I know that there is an option to tell the HX Stomp to send a PC command when calling a preset to external midi devices. I was wondering if you could set specific PC commands, depending on WHICH preset you activate? I have a Soleman midi controller (4 footswitches), with many many songs already programmed. Out of 50 songs in our set, maybe 30 need a specific set of presets (combinations of drive pedals, delay/reverb and modulation), and those are already programmed in my Soleman with song sections (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.). The rest of the songs are more "generic" tones, for which I typically use a general set of presets that get me through many songs that "fit" these tones. Now, I would like to create a preset on the HX Stomp for each and every song we play, and have it send a PC message to the Soleman ONLY when I want it to recall the "panel preset" that I already previously programmed. Which would give me greater flexibility and more swtiches to control my other pedals that are midi, but not in the HX Stomp (SA Nemesis, SA Ventris, Whammy 5). Please help. This has been spinnning in my head for days now.....! Ps. My other solution was to do it the other way around, with the Soleman calling presets on the HX Stomp, but it'd mean that I would have to do a lot more programming, and it's not ideal, I think.
  15. Hello on my Helix-Floor, I would like to control the looper using an external switch. Is this possible? If yes, is there any guideline on how to connect and configure the external switch? Much appreciated
  16. I've been experimenting with creating a midi track in Logic to control the patch and snapshot changes on my Helix LT in time with my backing tracks, and I've got a question that I can't seem to find the answer to in any documentation. When I create a programme change event in Logic to select a patch on the Helix, the patch only selects momentarily before switching back to patch 1B. I've found a workaround that make the selected patch stick - I have to also create controller change event to select a snapshot (cc69 0-7) - but I don't believe that should be necessary. My question is, what have I missed (or is this actually normal behaviour)? Many thanks in advance.
  17. After connecting a MIDI cable from my Helix to my Powercab 112 Plus, I noticed that whenever I changed to a new preset on the Helix, the Powercab would change to its preset with the same number. Very cool! Turns out this is expected behavior according to the manuals, using MIDI Program Change messages. The Helix manual says: "When navigating Presets from the Helix hardware (PRESETS encoder, preset footswitches, PRESET ^ / PRESET down, etc.), Helix automatically transmits a MIDI Program Change message corresponding to the selected preset." The Powercab manual says: "The Powercab 112 Plus active guitar speaker system responds to traditional MIDI Program Change messages from an external MIDI device (or from MIDI software via USB) and will recall presets 000-127 accordingly." In my own Helix setlist, I have each preset displayed with a three-digit number (000-127) rather than numbers and letters (01A-32D). For each Helix preset with a modeled cab, I have set the same-numbered Powercab preset to Flat FRFR. For each Helix preset with an amp only and no cab, I have set the same-numbered Powercab preset to a speaker model that I like with that amp. In a very short time, I have set up several Helix and Powercab presets which automatically change together every time I select a new Helix preset. Super cool!
  18. My Helix crashes when I try to load a snapshot that has Midi Notes commands set up in the Command Center. I am running Firmware 2.82. Has anyone been able to find a solution? Here are some more specific details and examples:: If I am in snapshot one's Command Center and assign a foot switch to a Midi Note On command, I can load snapshot two just fine. I then can then make changes to the Midi Note On command(s) in snapshot two Then when I try to load snapshot one again, my Helix crashes, the screen is dark, and I have to reboot. The Helix would have a lot more value to me if I could use the same Midi Note Commands assigned to the same foot switches in all my snapshots for a preset. As it stands now, I have the Midi Note Commands set up only in snapshot one. I would appreciate your experience, insight, and suggestions!
  19. Hey fellow musicians! Well, the question is kinda simple. Can I/how do I make the Digitakt trigger the Line6 Helix’s looper to start and stop via MIDI? If it is possible please explain it to me in details as I am pretty new to the MIDI world and really have a hard time understanding all the CC messages and so on… Note: I already have my Digitakt sending MIDI cloc, so that the Line6 Helix’s tempo is in sync - I just need it to make a loop that fits(starts and ends) perfectly in grid. Thanks in advance!! <3
  20. Line 6 Powercab Plus MIDI Control with Helix MIDI This works with Firmware Version 2.20 and later. Have your Helix Floor, Helix Rack, Helix LT or HX Effects automatically switch to any desired Powercab Plus channel Preset or combination of settings when pressing any Helix Preset or Snapshot button. You can easily change the Powercab Plus’ configuration from Helix’ Presets or Snapshots. For example, you may want the Powercab Plus in LF Flat mode for a particular Preset or Snapshot, then switch to Speaker Mode with a Vintage speaker model for a different Preset or Snapshot. A word about Powercab Plus Preset management. There are two basic ways to implement MIDI control for Powercab Plus with Helix MIDI. 1) Program Change using MIDI PC (Program Change) messages, and 2) Control Change using MIDI CC (Control Change or Continuous Controller) messages. 1) Program Change - In this scheme, when changing Presets or Snapshots on Helix, the Powercab Plus switches to it’s corresponding Preset. For example, switching to Preset 004 on Helix would switch Powercab Plus to it’s Preset 004 or whatever Preset you programmed in Helix. With this method there is only one setting in Helix that has to be programmed. All of the Powercab Plus settings are set and saved in Powercab Plus using the onboard screen or Powercab Edit app. 2) Control Change - In this scheme, Helix transmits all of the desired Powercab Plus settings to Powercab Plus using CC messages, regardless of what Preset Powercab Plus is currently on. No settings are required to be set or saved in Powercab Plus. For example, switching to Preset 004 on Helix could switch Powercab Plus settings to use a Green speaker model. Then, switching Snapshots within Preset 004 could switch the Powercab Plus speaker model to Vintage. Or, a Helix Preset could be configured to tell Powercab Plus to use a speaker model and then switching to different Helix Preset could then tell Powercab Plus to switch LF Flat mode. The advantages of using Control Change is, you don’t have to maintain individual Presets in Powercab Plus, it doesn’t matter what Powercab Plus Preset you are currently on, and it works when plugging into any Powercab Plus, even somebody else’s (as long as Helix and Powercab Plus are set on the same MIDI channel). IMPORTANT - When using MIDI Program Change or Control Change switching for Presets and Snapshots it is important to note that Powercab Plus will always remain it it’s last state unless it is sent a message or messages to alter that state. For example, if Powercab Plus had been set on a Preset that called for a Green speaker model, then you switched to a different Helix Preset, unless you send Powercab Plus either a PC message or one or more CC messages to change that, Powercab Plus will remain in it’s last state, set on the Green speaker. Getting Started DO THIS FIRST Connect a standard five pin MIDI cable from the Helix ‘MIDI Out/Thru’ connector to the Powercab Plus ‘Midi In’ connector. DO THIS SECOND Connect a USB cable from Powercab Plus to your computer and launch Powercab Edit. This is only to monitor the status of Powercab Plus to make sure your Helix MIDI settings are doing what you want them to do. Changing Powercab Plus Presets with Helix Presets and Snapshots If you prefer to use Powercab Plus Presets and switch between them using Helix Presets and/or Snapshots, this is for you. You can have your Powercab Plus switch to any of it’s Presets when changing Helix Presets or Snapshots. This is done with MIDI PC messages. Here’s how. 1. Go to the Helix Preset you want to program. 2. Navigate to Menu > Global Settings > MIDI/Tempo > Page 2 > MIDI PC Send - set this to MIDI or MIDI + USB 3. Navigate to Menu > Command Center 4. Highlight an Instant Command (Lightning Bolt) You should see five settings. Set them like this. Command: Bank/Prog Midi Ch: Base (or whatever MIDI channel you have Powercab Plus is set on.) Bank CC00: off Bank CC32: off Program: 4 (or whatever Powercab Plus Preset you want to use.) SAVE SAVE Repeat for Snapshots if desired. Check Powercab Edit to make sure it is working as expected. In this example, when you recall the selected Helix Preset, Powercab Plus will switch to it’s Preset 004. Done. Now, every time you press that Helix Preset button, Powercab Plus will switch to it’s Preset that you have programmed into Helix. Repeat for other Presets. Changing Powercab Plus Settings with Helix Presets and Snapshots If you don’t want to have to maintain Presets in Powercab Plus, and you want to change Powercab Plus settings with Helix Presets and Snapshots, and you don’t mind a little extra programming, this is for you. 1. Go to the Helix Preset you want to program. 2. Navigate to Menu > Global Settings > MIDI/Tempo > Page 2 > MIDI PC Send - set this to Off 3. Navigate to Menu > Command Center 4. Highlight an Instant Command (Lightning Bolt) In this example we will Program Helix to send two CC messages to Powercab Plus, telling it to switch to Flat Mode with LF Flat Voicing. With the first Instant Command (Lightning Bolt) highlighted, you should see five settings. Using the MIDI tables from the Manual to set the following as desired. This first Instant Command will send a CC message to Powercab Plus telling it you want Flat Mode. Command: MIDI CC Midi Ch: Base (or whatever MIDI channel you have Powercab Plus set on.) CC#: 20 Value: 0 With a second Instant Command (Lightning Bolt) highlighted, set the following values. This sends a CC message to Powercab Plus telling it you want LF Flat Voicing. Command: MIDI CC Midi Ch: Base (or whatever MIDI channel you have Powercab Plus set on.) CC#: 21 Value: 2 SAVE SAVE Up to six Instant Commands can be used per Helix Preset. Check Powercab Edit to make sure it is working as expected. In this example, when you recall the selected Helix Preset, Powercab Plus will switch to it’s Flat Mode with LF Flat Voicing. Done.
  21. Hi, As I find very difficult to control the volume (home usage) of Powercab 112Plus specially when placed at an angle using the back slide legs , what kinda of options I have? e.g. using a volume pedal (or expression pedal with midi) e.g. using the HX stomp (volume knob) with my foot without obviously affect the volume of the USB interface? e.g. using old blood noise express volume etc. only asking cause i don't know how volume pedals work (why would I add a boost maybe dirty my signal/sound) and yes I don't like the back control panel despite liking the clean front design.
  22. I am currently building an HX effects into a rack for someone. They will be using 4 cable at the amp. For the most part the drive will be coming from the amp but, they were asking if they could have 1 boost in front of the amp that they could click off/on from the front of stage. All that will currently be at the front of stage is a Voodoo Lab Commander. This will only have MIDI to the HX Effects. I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a switch that can be run to the expression jack that can be assigned to an effect. I've so far tested a regular switch and a hard switch, both TS/TRS and nothing seems to work. I see that Mission has a pedal that has a toe switch (not sure if that's Helix/Stomp only) but, I don't need an expression pedal. Thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction of a product or the how-to (switch type, cable type, etc.)!
  23. This post is for those who use a PC to trigger MIDI events in Helix. Since I updated to the 2.8 firmware, my USB connectivity for MIDI is not working. I’ve checked all of my settings, reinstalled the ASIO audio driver and validated my USB connection to the PC as I’m able to control Helix perfectly through HX Edit app. I also validated the issue by reverting back to 2.71 and testing and everything worked fine. I also copied all of the global settings so I could reset them all in 2.8. Well, the issue is back and I don’t know what to try next. Any known issues or ideas you can share with us? I really need to resolve this before my upcoming live performances, thanks!
  24. Hi. I own Helix LT with the latest firmware. I use it with my DAW. The Helix is set to receive tempo from the DAW via midi cable connections. It works but the issue is the tempo in Helix is not in sync with the DAW. Sometimes the tempo is spot on and in sync. Most of the times the tempo is correct but not in sync. Sometimes the tempo doesn't match by 1 or 2 bpm. Does anybody use this feature and working correctly? Is there a workaround? The exact same thing happened with my POD HD500X and I never got it to work. I ended up sending MIDI CC messages of tap tempo to the pod.
  25. Hi there! First post here! Been a happy L6 user since X3 days until my Helix LT and this community has been a source of inspiration. Now I recently got a HX Effects to use with my JVM410H, and everything sounds killer but I wish I could assign different midi messages to different snapshots so that I can switch the amp channels. What I'd like to do is assign snapshot 1 to my clean channel, snapshot 2 to crunch and so on. I've search the forum and only could find info about EXT AMP switching (TS cable) but nothing about midi and snapshots. I guess it has something to do with INSTANT COMMANDS but can't find an answer. What am I missing? Is there a way to do so? Thank you very much, any help will be appreciated.
