  1. I have hd 300. I want to know if this thing it is possible. Instead to play the guitar through pod hd 300 ,I want to play a midi file which contains guitar riffs and hear it ,with phones or an amplifier. Lot of thanks to the people`s which explain me the settings . Do I need a MIDI - OX or what?
  2. First, connect the FBV via USB to the computer and use the FBV Control software. In the File>Open menu, select the ‘Gearbox’ preset for the FBV. This will store on the FBV automatically. Close FBV Control. Then, start Gearbox with the FBV still connected to the computer. Go to the Edit>Preferences window, and in the ‘MIDI/Control’ tab, select USB Audio Device for MIDI Input. Hit Apply and then, OK. The FBV will now control certain parameters of the program including Wah/Volume sweep and toggling. If you would like to change the behavior of the switches, you should than exit Gearbox and go back to FBV Control once again to assign MIDI CC Toggle messages that correspond with what they want to control in the program. You can reference the chart for Gearbox MIDI CC messages starting on page 2.14 of the following Gearbox MIDI CC Reference Guide: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593546810e/application/pdf/MIDI%20Continuous%20Controller%20Reference%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20F%20).pdf
  3. Hi, I'm trying to do something which I think it not possible, but who knows ? I try to command my Whammy 5 with the Pod HD. What I would like, is the Pod HD to send a specific Program Change command when I select a tone, so I can set the Whammy to a specific program for that tone. I can do it by assigning MIDI to one of the FBV controller switch, but then I have to press it to make the program change. I'd like to skip that part (lazy is my second name) and have it done automatically when I select a tone. Any idea how I might achieve that ? Thanks Olivier
  4. Hi line 6 community, i'm searching for a good usb midi foot controller for Ableton Live and i would like to know if is possible to use the line 6 shortboard MK1 (not mk2). I want to control especially the loop function and effects on/off. Is it complicated to configure? I can't find the manual of that product, is there something online? Thanks
  5. I have an old pod xt that recently stopped working. The signal from my guitar was not getting through the pod at some point. Whether before or after dsp, it won't output any sound. That being the case, I was wondering at the MIDI capabilities of the board. I know that one could use a controller(s) to control parameters inside the xt, but could one use the xt itself as a controller for another unit, whether another POD or even a computer-based processor such as Amplitude or Guitar Rig? I know the ins and outs of computer audio, I just need to know if the xt itself has the capability to send MIDI triggers to another unit, whether as to recall various presets or channels, or to turn on/off affects in a separate dsp unit. I had been looking in to MIDI controllers as it was, such as Behringer's FCB1010 and Roland's FC300, but was disappointed to learn that they don't have much ability to turn effects on or off, but only to recall presets. I am hoping that the xt has these capabilities so as to simplify the completion of my current guitar setup. My thanks. J.P.
  6. I am hoping that someone can help me. I've had an HD500 for awhile now and have only just tried to use it with my old midi controller (Yamaha MFC10), and can't for the life of me get it at all to change presets on the POD. I am beginning to think that the midi input just doesn't work on the POD and never has (faulty), unless someone can tell me that there is some sort of hidden setup required to enable me to do this. All I want to be able to do is change the presets on the current setist. From what I can gather, it should be as simple as patch 0 = 1A, patch 1 = 1B, patch 2 = 2B etc. I also believe that it should be done using midi program changes = 0, 1, 2, etc, you only need midi CC's to change the setlist. I have even tried connecting the Yamaha to the POD, and then using the thru on the POD to connect to some other external midi devices to see if it is taking the signal and passing it on and it isn't. The cable and floor controller are fine when I plug it into other rack gear. I've checked midi channels (I believe the POD is supposed to receive on channel one) Using the POD as a midi controller is fine, the midi out works correctly I have updated the HD500 to the latest firmware and still the same. The reason I want to do the above is the lack of midi control from the POD. I want to sit my POD on top of my rack and control it and other rack gear from a dedictated midi controller so I can do more complicated switching for the other rack gear that can't be achieved using the POD as a midi controller. Many thanks
  7. I use the HD500 as the backbone of my rig, and have some pedals in the HD500's fx loop. The HD500 also sends out MIDI program change messages to a Strymon Timeline, so the Timeline's preset changes to the currently loaded HD500 preset. My question is as follows. When I select a preset on the HD500, can I also program the HD500 to send out some form of MIDI message that changes the preset on the Timeline just as it does now, but that it ALSO puts the Timeline preset in 'off' state, ie. Timeline's preset loaded but not engaged. If it can be done, how? It doesn't matter how I save the preset on the Timeline itself, I already tried that - no matter if I save it in off or on state, it always turns on when the preset loads via the MIDI program change message from the HD500.
  8. OK MIDI Gurus- riddle me this: I have been using MIDI since the early 90's and consider myself somewhat knowledgable in this area... this means the answer is simple because I sure as heck have overlooked something easy. :) FACTS: My band plays to a sequence during its entire performance. The sequence comes from a Yamaha Motif ES6, onboard 16-track sequencer- and it acts as the MASTER controller. The sequencer has several tracks dedicated to various MIDI 'instruments' and devices. These devices are, in order of channel assignment and physical hook-up with MIDI cables: 1. HD500 (MIDI ch 1)... changes patches, turns FX modules on/off 2. American DJ lighting mixer (MIDI ch 2) for spotlight (yes, I'm programming my lights... worked fine for the last 8 years and highly recommended) 3. Another American DJ lighting mixer (MIDI ch 3) for the LED pars around the stage. The LED lights ARE terminated. 4. TC Helicon Voiceworks Plus rack vocal processor (MIDI ch 4)... changes patches and FX 5. Roland TD-10 drum brain (MIDI ch 10).... changes patches. This set-up was working perfectly with a Podxt Live until I got the Pod HD500 and put it into the dasiy chain (yes, I selected the correct MIDI channel). Once I replaced the old pod with the newer HD500 my lighting sequence became altogether sporadic, working only at only 40% accuracy. When I put the HD500 at the end of the chain everything works fine. Go figure. So the question is: why do I have to put the Pod HD500 at the end of the chain in order for everything to work normally? Thanks for your input in advance. Chad
  9. Hi, I'd really like to know if anybody has had any joy with the above combination (tried the Steinberg forum too)... I've had some luck with the transport commands in Reason for digidesign ( an old M-Box cd ) so I know I have Midi signal, and my cubase transport bar shows midi in when I press any transport keys, so I know I'm connected at least. I've been checking out the manuals of course, Line6 and Cubase, but still no joy. I'm assuming midi is midi ,and you could map the KB37 to any DAW if you know what you are doing. If someone could even confirm or deny this that would also help, Thanks in advance, Tom.
  10. Hi. I always wanted to add some new effects to my loved spider valve, especially the octoverb and particle reverb, so, I buy a Line6 M5 and I want to show you how I use both together. Guitar -> Spider Valve -> preamp out -> M5 in -> M5 out -> power amp in MIDI = Spider valve midi out/thru -> M5 midi in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7RfXpNYWew Sorry my english, is not my native lenguage. Bye
  11. Hi, I need some help connecting up the Line 6 POD HD PRO to the Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pro and GCX switching system. I have the GCP running off phantom power from the GCX and the midi is connected like, GCP -> GCX -> POD Pro -> GCP The problem I have is that separately all modules work fine. I can use the GCP to control the HD Pro and I can use the GCP to control the GCX as per the user's manual. However when I connect everything up into a full rig the GCP and the HD Pro go haywire. The GCX active LED shows that there is continuous midi data being sent through it. normally on a program change the active LED will flash for a second then remain lit. The GCP Display starts to flash random characters and the button LED's all flash randomly. The POD Pro LED Display also starts switching between random presets. Turning everything off returns all modules to normal operation. I have tried changing midi channels for all modules and resetting everything to factory defaults. I have also tried the factory preset for Line 6 gear that is pre installed on Voodoo Lab gear. Any Help is greatly appreciated. I can probably link video if requested. Cheers, KS
  12. Hi folks, I have recently purchased an HD500 and DT25. I have flashed the HD500 no problem but I am getting the common errors with the DT25 when attempting to flash using usb-midi cable. I have tried all the suggested tricks but it does look like I need to buy a decent midi controller. I was already on the lookout for a simple midi keyboard controller to enable me to record some basic synth / percussion etc on cubase. I am looking at a :- Behringer UMX250 U-Control 25 Key USB/MIDI Controller Keyboard with USB/Audio Interface Anyone know if this will enable me to flash the DT25 or is it the wrong sort of device for that? Cheers in advance, Steve (PS any tips on a better small midi keyboard controller around the £100 mark will be gratefully received)
  13. Hi All , I have a HD500 and i want to know if anyone had built a MIDI controller template for switching Banks, programs and more control of all patches ? There are many MIDI designers and controller apps for iPhone and iPad and i think it would be convenient to have MIDI controlling the presets on the HD and M fx. There are apps like TouchOSC , Lemur , Control , Midi Designer etc that can be used to build custom MIDI interfaces. I did a quick test with Midi Designer Pro and was able to send a Bank Change and Program Change and have the HD500 swtich to the right preset. Designing a flexible MIDI controlling template would be a big effort and is there a ready template for some app already built ? Also , does the HD500 let one vary the values with MIDI also ? Can the 4 knobs be mapped to sliders in the MIDI controller interface so that it would be very easy to change presets but even parameters on the fly right from the guitar ! Any ideas / inputs welcome ! thanks pat
  14. Hello Everybody, New Pod hd300. Works perfectly with headphone connected directly into the pod. Installed all drivers in iMac, latest udpates done. Monkey is updated. Pod300 Edit installed and recognizes the pod. When I change a knob on the pod it changes at the same time on the iMac in the pod hd300 edit software. So I guess connection is ok. I also see the pod as midi device in the midi manager So far so good. But in Garageband nothing happens. Does not seem to recognize the pod. Nevertheless in preferences the I did select the pod and when I go to the amp I also see the pod as input source. What am I doing wrong. Any suggestion. Thanks in advance Markus
  15. I'm trying to configure the pod midi to control the program saved in my head H&K switchblade 100. I follow the video tutorial posted on line 6 forum but nothing. I connect on pod the midi on out/thru and on the head in input. I configure the pod to send a program change (i also try with bank change) but when i press the configured button nothing happend. Any hints? NB. I use the original cable (7pin to 5pin) used by the FSM434 MKII (the manual tells that the cable is standard).
  16. A while back I ask the question if an external sequencer could control the master volume of the POD HD500 using the MIDI CC 7 and was told that this had not been implemented yet. Just checking to see if this has now been implemented?
  17. If I was to use a midi foot controller (for example an Art X15) with the flextone 3 I know I can still access all 36 patches. However if I say access patch C3 (or any of the other, extra 32 patches not directly accessible from the front panel) and change a setting can I resave it to that patch by holding down the C button or will that resave it to the first bank?
  18. La version française. Zur deutschen Version. With the latest v2.0 update for the DT25/DT50 amplifiers, you must send MIDI parameters to the amp to change the settings such as the preamp models. Here are the links to the MIDI documentation to reference when programming your MIDI gear to send the proper parameters to control the settings of the DT series amplifiers: http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT50_MIDI_CC_Reference_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT25_MIDI_CC_Reference_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT_MIDIGuide_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf Using the POD HD500/HD500x to Send MIDI Parameters to the DT amplifiers You can use the POD HD500 as a MIDI controller to send MIDI CC parameters to change. Just connect the MIDI OUT from the POD HD500/HD500x to the MIDI IN on the DT amplifier with a MIDI cable. Then, go in the POD HD500/HD500x's MIDI assign screen (by holding the MOVE button for a few seconds) to assign a footswitch to send the desired MIDI parameters to change the settings on the DT amplifier. From here, you need to reference the DT amplifier's MIDI CC reference charts above to assign the proper MIDI CC to a footswitch on the POD HD500/HD500x. For example, on the DT50 amplifiers, sending MIDI CC# 11 with a value of 0-30 will change the assigned HD amp model set to any one of the voicings on Channel A of the DT50. So, if you want to change Voicing I of Channel A on the DT50 amp from the original Fender Blackface to be a Hiway 100 amp model instead, do the following: On any preset (blank or not) on the POD, go to the POD's MIDI Assign screen by holding the MOVE button for a few seconds. We suggest doing this on a blank new preset so that you can use this preset to send these MIDI messages to your DT amplifier. Let's assign Footswitch 1 (FS1) to send MIDI CC# 11 with a value of 003. Press on FS1 so that the arrow is pointing to it in the POD's screen. Turn Knob 1 to select MIDI CH: Base. Turn Knob 2 to select Message: CC. Turn Knob 3 to select CC# 011. Turn Knob 4 to select Value: 003. You can exit the MIDI Assign screen by pressing the View button once. Now, by simply pressing the FS1 footswitch, you will be sending MIDI CC# 11 value 003 to the DT50 amp which will change the Voicing I of Channel A on the DT50 amp from the original Fender Blackface to be a Hiway 100 amp model. Press the Save button once, rename the preset with the knobs below the screen, then press the Save button once again to store these settings to the POD's preset. MIDI CC#11 value 0-30 will change the HD amp model on Channel A of the selected voicing on the DT25/DT50 amp. MIDI CC#12 value 0-30 will change the HD amp model on Channel B of the selected voicing on the DT25/DT50 amp. Here are reference charts for both the DT25 and the DT50 from the MIDI Reference guide to help you set your values when programming MIDI to the switches of the POD HD500/HD500x. MIDI can be assigned to any of the footswitches of the POD HD500/HD500x EXCEPT for the Bank Up and Bank Down switches. Using MIDI OX to send MIDI parameters to the DT amplifiers You can also use MIDI OX software to send the desired MIDI messages to your DT amplifier when using a dedicated MIDI interface connected between your computer set to work with MIDI OX and the DT amplifier's MIDI IN port. In MIDI OX, click on the Send MIDI Controller Messages button to see the following window: You’ll want to use the drop down window to select the desired controller event (as referenced in the documentation above such as MIDI CC# 11 or CC#12, etc.) and then select the value on the right (as in the previous example above, value of 0-30, etc.) then, hit the Send button to send that MIDI message to the DT amplifier. Notice the text by the numbers which are simply part of the standard MIDI spec. These descriptors are irrelevant for the DT amps – again, just look for the number that correlates to the DT parameter you want to send. It also may be confusing that the numbers are not listed sequentially. If you wanted to change the preamp for the current Voicing of channel A you would select number 11 (labeled expression in the MIDI OX drop down) and number 3 (if you wanted to load the Hiway 100 model for example) using the up/down buttons in the field labeled Value. Hit send and the current Voicing on Channel A should be the Hiway 100.
