  1. This post is for those who use a PC to trigger MIDI events in Helix. Since I updated to the 2.8 firmware, my USB connectivity for MIDI is not working. I’ve checked all of my settings, reinstalled the ASIO audio driver and validated my USB connection to the PC as I’m able to control Helix perfectly through HX Edit app. I also validated the issue by reverting back to 2.71 and testing and everything worked fine. I also copied all of the global settings so I could reset them all in 2.8. Well, the issue is back and I don’t know what to try next. Any known issues or ideas you can share with us? I really need to resolve this before my upcoming live performances, thanks!
  2. Hi. I own Helix LT with the latest firmware. I use it with my DAW. The Helix is set to receive tempo from the DAW via midi cable connections. It works but the issue is the tempo in Helix is not in sync with the DAW. Sometimes the tempo is spot on and in sync. Most of the times the tempo is correct but not in sync. Sometimes the tempo doesn't match by 1 or 2 bpm. Does anybody use this feature and working correctly? Is there a workaround? The exact same thing happened with my POD HD500X and I never got it to work. I ended up sending MIDI CC messages of tap tempo to the pod.

    DT50/DT25: FAQ

    Zur deutschen Version. La version française. Please read through the DT50/DT25 Terminology FAQ first, to familiarize yourself with the terms that will be referenced here. Application Q: Are there any presets on the DT50/DT25 amplifier in the manner of previous Line 6 amps? A: No. The DT50/DT25 behaves like a traditional amp where the user simply dials in a tone to the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) functionality. Q: Are the DT50/DT25 amplifiers Mono(phonic)? A: As with most tube amplifiers, yes. Q: Which type of amp modeling is using with the DT50/DT25? A: Line 6's newest HD amp models (same as our new POD HD). Q: How does the power amp tubes contribute to the DT50/DT25's sound? A: The EL34's (DT50) or EL84's (DT25) are the main source of distortion in the amp. The guitar signal is actually being amplified at every progressive stage in the circuit, but the power tubes are the first to truly "clip" and provide the distortion that most tube amp devotees desire. Q: How does the modeling of the DT50/DT25 contribute to the overall tone? A: In the DT50/DT25's "normal mode", the modeling performs the function of the preamp: mating the digital preamp with the analog power amp so the whole system creates the sound of the amp modeled. This is different than our previous Spider Valve amps, where we modelled the entire amp model (pre-amp and power amp) and then fed that signal through the output tube power section. In "low power mode" (pulling the master volume switch out on the DT50 or on the DT25 flipping the switch on the back panel), the digital modeling section will assume duties for the power amp section and the Master Volume has been scaled so that you can have the sound of a driven power amp at lower monitoring volume levels. If you turn the master volume knob all the way up in this mode, you will have Spider Valve-like tones behavior (where the pre and power amp software modeling signal is pushing the EL34 or EL84 tubes). In both Normal and Low Power modes, cabinet modeling is applied to the output signal fed to the power tubes. When using a POD HD device connected via L6 Link, you must use the default cabinet model that is recalled on the POD HD 'pre' amp model when using the L6 Link connection with the DT amp to get the same type of sound as using the DT amplifier by itself with the same amp model. Lastly, when using Low Volume Mode on the DT amp with a POD HD connected via L6 Link, the sound of a 'Pre' amp model selected on the POD preset will sound slightly different if an identical amp model is selected on the DT amplifier (on Channel B ). This is because when using the Low Volume Mode on the DT amp with L6 Link, Channel A on the DT amp with the POD modeling is still using the just the PRE amp model with the scaled Master Volume knob, whereas Channel B on the DT amp uses the preamp AND power amp modeling with the scaled Master Volume. The inclusion of the power modeling is what makes it sound differently. Q: What is the difference between the DT25 and the DT50 amplifier? A: The DT25 operates at 25 watts maximum output using two (2) EL84 power tubes vs. the EL34's found in our DT50's. Otherwise, it is essentially the same as its big-brother, the DT50. DT50/DT25 Voicings Switch I Negative Feedback Loop (NFL) setting is high; channel control behavior much like that of a West Coast American amp of the 1960s. Recommended settings: Class AB & Pentode. II NFL is medium; channel control behavior much like that of a classic British amp of the 1960s known for it's "glassy" yet warm tones. Recommended settings: Class AB & Pentode. III Zero Negative Feedback Loop operation (a very open/dynamic feeling amp); channel control behavior much like that of a 'chime-like tone' British amp of the 1960s. Recommended settings: Class A & Pentode (clean) or switch to Triode (for rounder, more vintage feel). IV NFL is low in value, with an added low frequency resonance ideally suited for modern high-gain voicing; channel control behavior much like that of a more recent West Coast American amp of the 1990s. Recommended settings: Class AB & Pentode. Class A & Class AB Switch Class A: Cathode biased. Provides the player with more dynamic with touch sensitivity. DT50 operates at 25 watts. DT25 operates at 10 watts. Class AB: Fixed biased. Provides greater headroom and power than Class A. DT50 operates at 50 watts. DT25 operates at 25 watts. Pentode & Triode Switch Pentode: Clearer tone and more headroom. Triode: Rounder tone, less output and more vintage feel. L6 Link L6 LINK is a proprietary Digital Audio connection developed for exclusive connection between the POD HD series modeling processors and the DT50/DT25 amplifier(s). Do NOT connect any other sort of analog audio device that appears to have a standard 3-pin (XLR) connector to the L6 LINK, as damage will occur. Connect a digital XLR cable (AES/EBU cable) from the POD HD L6 LINK jack directly to the DT amp's L6 LINK IN jack. Most XLR cables should provide sufficient performance, but use a digital XLR (AES/EBU) cable for best performance and signal to noise ratio. When linking two DT amps, all controls including master volume work independently on both amps. The only thing that syncs is the channel switch, i.e. switching the channel on amp A switches it on amp B as well. There is a jack labelled for "Footswitch" on the back of the amp to allow for switching between Channel A and B. Please use a "tip-sleeve" (mono 1/4") latching-type footswitch to use this feature. Setup/Connection Q: Is there a headphone output on the DT50/DT25 series? A: No. Q: Is there a bias switch to change the power tubes to 6L6's or other tube types? A: No, the DT50/DT25 series do not offer bias-switchable options and were designed to operate with the EL34 (DT50) or EL84 (DT25) power output tubes. Q: Can I run my DT50/DT25 without a speaker load? A: No! You should always run a tube amplifier with a speaker load present. Please follow the properly load connection requirements as silkscreened on the back of the amplifier chassis. Q: Will installing casters on a DT50/DT25 112 or 212 combo chassis void my warranty? A: No, correctly installed casters will not void the warranty. However, if you are not 100% sure on how to correctly install casters, please take your amp to a qualified amp/service technician and have them install the hardware.   4. Hi there! First post here! Been a happy L6 user since X3 days until my Helix LT and this community has been a source of inspiration. Now I recently got a HX Effects to use with my JVM410H, and everything sounds killer but I wish I could assign different midi messages to different snapshots so that I can switch the amp channels. What I'd like to do is assign snapshot 1 to my clean channel, snapshot 2 to crunch and so on. I've search the forum and only could find info about EXT AMP switching (TS cable) but nothing about midi and snapshots. I guess it has something to do with INSTANT COMMANDS but can't find an answer. What am I missing? Is there a way to do so? Thank you very much, any help will be appreciated.
  5. When I've got my Helix connected to ableton, every time I select a new patch, it sends a pitch bend signal to ableton, which makes programming buttons across multiple patches really obnoxious. Any idea how to stop this from happening?

  7. Hi, I bought an HX Effects yesterday, absolutely loving the tones and functions. Now I am looking to delve into using MIDI to change the channel on my Blackstar Series One 45; to change from 'Warm Clean' with an Orange LED to 'Super Crunch' with a Red LED, changing between these two on a footswitch press. Any advice please? This is the first time I've ever used MIDI and I'm not fully sure what to do. Thank you all.

  9. Hi Folks, Just got a HX Stomp. Great pedal! One seemingly silly question I have is: will a 3 or 4 button midi amp footswitch work with the HX Stomp? (Like a Peavey or Randall 4 or 5 switch for amps) for turning fx on and off? Or would I be better off with a Midi Mongoose. I don't want to spend any more than $125 if possible. Whats an inexpensive way to add foot switches. -Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. Just joined. Thanks!

  11. Can the midi input be used with the eidtor program for spider valve MKII? I can get the program running with a midi connection and it recognizes the amp but when I try to send a patch nothing happens. So, is the only way to edit the amp from the front face because this is really tedious and you can't download anyone else's patches to the amp.
  12. Hi I have Line6 Pod Hd500x as a multi-effect unit when I play with my guitar. At the same time, I want to use Ableton Live 10 during live performances to launch midi clips (e.g. a Violin part). I know how to map midi keys from controllers or laptop. So, I know how to do this using a dedicated midi controller (e.g. M-AUDIO Keystation32) or my laptop keyboard. My question is can I also map the knobs of POD HD500x (e.g. FS2, FS3 etc.) as midi “keys” in Ableton so that I don’t have to use a separate midi foot controller for this purpose? Has anyone done this with Ableton Live and Line 6 POD HD500x? Thanks in advance George
  13. Hi there, I have benn using my Helix LT for a year or two now and one of the feature I use the most is midi remote control from Cubase 10. We play to a clic and follow a Cubase project and all my preset and snapshot changes are triggered from a midi track in cubase assigned to helix through midi over USB. What I would like to do now is to get rid of the FBV shortboard MKII that I use to start, stop and navigate through Cubase markers and use Helix to do that instead. The problem I run into is that whenever I go to a certain marker using Helix as my midi remote, Cubase then sends back a midi program change command to Helix in order to go to the appropriate preset. When this happens, Helix then transmit back a midi command to Cubase telling it where it's at and releasing the footswitch now that I'm in a new preset also sends a midi command back to Cubase... this gives some weird behaviors like midi feedback and dual commands (press once but feels like I pressed twice) and most of the time all will fail. Is there a way to seperate the midi channel from the DAW remote from the midi channel from the preset/snapshot control? Thank you!
  14. I just got a Helix and I'm liking it ok by it's self, but I'm running into some midi issues that are getting a little frustrating. I want to set it up to control my Strymon Mobius, TimeLine, and BigSky with midi without having to dedicate a loop to each. Here's where I'm at and maybe someone can suggest a way I can get this to work. I did have the Helix set up using the 4 cable method with my amp in loop 1. The 3 strymon pedals above are in loop 2 all assigned to their own midi channels. I also have a poly tune set up in loop 3 to be always on (the Helix tuner isn't that great). I have a Riverside OD set up in Loop 4 with the favorite function being controlled using the CV connector on Helix. With it set up like this I can get everything to work in stomp box mode without any problems excluding the lights on the Helix sometimes getting out of sync with the pedal. For example pedal is bypassed but the Helix light for that channel is illuminated (no big deal, I can live with this minor issue). I used midi CC# 80,81, and 82 to toggle the Strymon pedals A and B (and C on BigSky) buttons. The problems began when I started to set up Snapshots. I tried using the Instant commands to bring up a patch on a desired pedal using the midi program function 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. That method would bring up patches ok but when I toggled through the Snapshots some of the presets would be on when I didn't want them to be and would then toggle off when I wanted them to be on etc... After a little more research I found out that I needed a bypass command to apply before the new preset could be commanded on. After research I found out that Helix can't change CC# with snapshots, only the values within a CC. After finding this out I decided to go a different route. Now, Try 2... I've got the Helix completely reset to factory defaults. I cleared all blocks on the first preset and started fresh. I wired all strymon pedals in their own FX Loop so I can toggle off by bypassing the the block (I hate to loose the 4 cable method here, but I guess I can live with that for now). Ive set them up in stomp box mode and got everything working just as I had last time. Now on the the Snapshots I run into problems again. I would save each snapshot by going into stomp box mode and toggle on what I wanted then save each accordingly. Doing that I got the Mobius and Timeline to work, BUT the BigSky wants to be a BigPain in the ....... !! This pedal will not respond correctly no matter what channel its on, what program# I choose, even the CC80, 81, and 82 for the bank buttons. For example, If I toggle on a preset in bank A it will toggle that on and off when commanded to toggle Bank C. If I press the Bank A button on the Bigsky to switch it back to that bank it will work for a couple of snapshot changes and then back to the wrong preset. Sometimes it works fine going from Snaphot 1 to 2 to 3, but when I go from 3, to 2, to 1 it gets all messed up again. It's completely erratic behavior and I can't duplicate the issue to track down a solution. I've checked the commands on each snapshot and they are correct and set up the same as the TimeLine and Mobius. I've gone into global settings on the BigSky and Helix and tried different combinations as well as a factory reset on the BigSky, same thing. Any ideas??? I'm really hoping to get this resolved because I really want to keep the Helix as part of my rig. If not I'll ditch it for a Mastermind PCB. Sorry for the novel!
  15. Hey guys. My band recently got a program called Showbuddy which will be controlling our entire lightshow and backing tracks. All of our songs have been pre-programmed with cues for the lights. This program also does midi cues as well so I thinking of using it to cue up all of my patch changes within my hd500x so I never have to touch it all show. Has anyone done with this specific program before?
  16. Hi, I just got my Helix Rack yesterday and i bought an used FCB1010 foot controller to go with it, because I needed the Rack version and can't afford the Helix Control right now. I would like to configure it to work with the Helix but having absolutely no experiences with MIDI and amp modelers, I really don't know how to do it and where to start, or even what is possible to do beside switching presets. I pretty much only find informations on how to use the Helix AS a midi controller but that's obviously not what I want to do. So, If someone could help me, and/or point me to good documentation about this, It would be greatly appreciated!
  17. I’ve had the HX Effects for a while and I’ve loved it so much I decided to get the Stomp for the amp modeling. My question is can I use the FX to midi control the Stomp? Specifically I would like to be able to change between snapshots and presets on the stomp and blocks within a preset on the FX. I’m new to midi and I am totally lost. Thanks in advance for the help.
  18. Is anyone aware of and can point me to a tutorial on configuring my Helix Rack to be controlled with my DAW? I know the information is available in the manual(s) if you know what you're doing and how to use it, but I don't. I'm using Presonus Studio one pro for my DAW (win7), a Presonus sutdio 18/24 for my interface. I've also downloaded and installed HX edit. Hooking up cables, establishing midi channels is easy enough, but getting things to talk to each other, not so much. I'm a reasonably tech savy kind of guy and can probably figure it out eventually but finding a tutorial and some tips and tricks to speed that along would be nice. In hindsight, I probably should've gone with the helix native plugin, and will probably go ahead and get it, but, I've got the rack so here we are. :)

I've been writing some tunes that for live use I could really use a the looper on the helix but we play with a click and I've been working on midi clocking my preset for the set list and it got me thinking if I could set it up loops to match up with the click.
  20. Hi all, I'm Chris. A couple days ago - and completely on a whim - I put in an offer on an HX Stomp and won it for a price I didn't expect. After a weekend spent searching for answers on how to make it work for my rig, I give up and this is my first post. I have a couple amplifiers and I've been looking for somewhat of an "all in one" pedalboard solution for a while. My main amp is a Mesa Triple Crown 50, which (as I'm sure many of you are aware) has MIDI channel switching capabilities, an FX loop, all that jazz. I've been looking at replacing a good chunk of my pedal board (SA Nemesis Delay, Boss DC-2w, Walrus Audio Lilian Phaser, EHX Pitch Fork, Wampler Ego Comp) for a while and don't doubt the HX series, on a high level, has what it takes to do the job. I intend on fully utilizing the 4-cable method to make the most of it. Here's my dilemma. The TC-50 is a three-channel amplifier and has MIDI control over channel switching, FX loop, reverb and solo boosts. In a perfect world, I would have access to all three channels and solo boost in various combinations along with various effects from the HX. Ideally, I'd be able to access 6-8 presets encompassing channel switching/effects combinations readily. I was sold on the HX Effects (due in part to the additional loop to add a fuzz/drive/gate pedal on top) until I read about latency when using MIDI to switch amp settings. The snapshot workaround isn't something that'd work for me when limited to 4 per preset. So, enter the need for a MIDI controller. I've looked at them all at this point, from Disaster Area to BOSS to Morningstar. It seems as though the Morningstar MC6 MKII is the gold standard. Here's the big question - can I use an external MIDI controller to switch amplifier channels while simultaneously pulling up different effects combinations on the HX Stomp/Effects without lag/latency issues? And, as an alternative, would there be any benefits to adding a Boss ES-8, if for nothing else, to be able to switch amplifier channels while sorting effects placement, if I added an overdrive/boost/etc pedal to the mix? Would an HX Effects/Morningstar combo make more sense for that? Agh! Thanks in advance -- I should also note that there's a decent chance I'm overthinking this. :)

  23. I cannot get the midi clock from my sequencer to affect the tempos in Helix. What am I doing wrong? Where can find good documentation? I'm using an MPC 1000 sequencer - it's midi out is plugged into the midi in of the Helix. Nothing is happening at all.
  24. Hi everybody. I have an issue. I recently bought the Behringer V-amp pro and i will like to use it with my Line 6 M13 as a midi controller. I can do that, when i am in the mode scene, i can change the presets right on the v-amp pro, but when i try to add an effect of my M13 the settings on the v-amp are changed too... Can somebody explain me how can i solve this mistery?? Connections: M13 into the loop (stereo) of the V-amp for all my modulations/effects, and also connected by a midi cable to change the amps.   25. Hi, Just got a Helix rack and I'm new to this forum, but since Helix is so new to the world, I couldn't find any suggestions on Google. So far I've been very pleased, but *I think* I've discovered quite a limitation. Am I right in thinking there is not a MIDI command that can bypass or engage an effect block? I know there are CC49-58 which act like the footswitches, but they toggle the bypassed state, not set it explicitly. Every other effects processor I've used (inc the M13) was able set an effect "on" or "off" using MIDI. For example, on the M13, setting CC11 to 127 turned the bottom left effect "on", setting CC11 to 0, turned the effect "off". Am I right in thinking that with the Helix, we can only toggle effects? This means if I'm doing a song and an effect is toggled accidentally, or a MIDI command is missed, then that effect will be in the wrong state for the rest of the song, not just until it is next bypassed/activated. This just seems kind of crazy to me!? I've tried setting the footswitch assignment to momentary instead of latching, but then CC49-58 have no effect (which I believe is by design). I also know you can use controller assignment on the "mix" of an effect, then dial it down to 0% when you want it off and 100% when you want it on. But that's a workaround at best, and many of the effect blocks don't have a "mix" parameter (amps, cabs, EQ...). I was kind of disappointed with the MIDI implementation on the M13, which was a fabulous piece of hardware, but lacking thorough MIDI control. When I looked through the manual of the Helix, I thought "Oh man, this thing can do it all!". But if I'm now going to find you can't reliably turn effect on and off with MIDI, I'm going to feel a bit robbed :( Cheers, David
