  1. Does anyone have advice or recommendations for pairing the FBV3 with a Line 6 Modeler? I currently have an Amplifi-TT and the PowerCab 112, along with the FBV 3 pedal board. I don't want to invest in a whole new rig setup to get the versatility that something like the Helix family provides. And I'd rather not ditch my FBV3 which works fine.
  2. Hey Guys, How do you power your Line 6 Helix modeler for Live use with a cabinet ? What is the best solution you've came across while doing your research ? Please share your experience and your perfect setup solution to make the Helix sound has legit as possible. (Amp feel and response, amp in the room feel etc.) So far I've tried many possibilities : - Tube amp Fx loop (power amp in) - Powered monitor such as EV ELX 112P - Line 6 Powercab + - Boss Waza tube expander to power a passive guitar cab with classic celestion speakers. Cheers,

Q: Can I backup my scenes to my computer?A: You can backup your scenes via MIDI. Check out the M9/M13 Scene Backup document. Q: Which expression pedals can I use with the M9? A: We recommend using the Line 6 EX-1 expression pedal. You can also use any other expression pedal containing a 10k Ohm Potentiometer. Expression pedals allow you to change stompbox controls using your feet so you can adjust the sound while you play. On the fly, you can modify the delay time and feedback, speed of your tremolo, or sweep the pitch on the Pitch Bender effect. Connect an expression pedal to your M5 Stompbox modeler. Start with the pedal in the toe position. Once you have your effect parameters settings as desired rock the expression pedal to its heel position. Now set your parameters to your desired settings. As you move your expression pedal from heel to toe, you'll see all of the adjusted parameters move between these settings. All parameters affected by an expression pedal will show a pixel notch at the top indicating a parameter's setting for the toe position of the pedal. You'll also see a notch at the bottom that indicates a parameter's settingwith the expression pedal in the heel position. Additionally, if you don't want a parameter adjusted by the expression pedal, set the parameter's knob to where you want it with the heel down, then do the same with the heel up.

    Powercab FAQ

LINE 6 POWERCAB 112 / POWERCAB 112 PLUS So are these the Helix FRFR speakers we’ve been requesting for, like, years? Nope—Powercab is waaay beyond your bog standard FRFR speaker. When paired with any modeler, it’s an active speaker system that can deliver a much more authentic “amp-in-the-room” playing experience. However, when set to Flat mode (and whether you load IRs into Powercab or your modeler), Powercab amplifies the sound of your presets as they are, similar to a traditional FRFR speaker system—but with the response and feel closer to that of an actual guitar amp. Powercab works as both a backline amp and a wedge speaker, thanks to its integrated kickstands. Oh, and it looks like a guitar amp instead of a PA speaker. So that’s cool. What’s going on under the hood? Powercab doesn’t utilize cab modeling; it has true speaker modeling. Speaker Modeling is Line 6’s proprietary method of duplicating the frequency and behavior of speaker drivers by themselves, independently of the cabinets in which they happen to be loaded. Imagine having an empty 1x12 speaker cabinet where you can swap out the Greenback for a Creamback or a Swamp Thang or an Alnico Blue—instantly—and you’re close. I don’t own Helix. Will Powercab work with my Kemper, Atomic, or Fractal box? Absolutely! And any other modeler as well, including POD HD500X. In fact, if your modeler has a 48kHz AES/EBU out (or S/PDIF out with RCA-to-XLR M adapter), with Powercab 112 Plus you can run everything digitally, with no additional D/A/D conversion or latency. And if your modeler sends MIDI messages, you can even sync Powercab 112 Plus’s presets and user IRs with your modeler or profiler’s presets. Which six speakers are the models based on? Celestion® Vintage 30 Celestion® Greenback 25 Celestion® G12M-65 Jensen® P12Q Eminence® Swamp Thang Patriot Series Celestion® “Blue Bell” Alnico What’s the difference between Powercab 112 and Powercab 112 Plus? Powercab 112 Plus adds the following: 2-inch, 128 x 32-pixel LCD display 128 user preset locations 128 user IR locations MIDI In and Out for recalling presets, IRs, and most parameters (can also be recalled via USB) AES/EBU | L6 LINKTM digital In and Out Additional input for use as an FOH monitor (post-DSP) Powercab Edit connectivity USB audio interface for jamming along with or monitoring backing tracks from your Mac/PC/iOS* device User-selectable mic modeling and distance on the XLR output (Powercab 112’s output uses an SM58 model only) Powercab 112 Plus is about 2 lb (1 kg) heavier *iOS interfacing requires the Apple Camera Connection Kit How loud do they get? 250 watts total. That's 200 watts to the woofer and 50 watts to the compression driver. Wait. 250 watts doesn’t sound like much. Aren’t there other speakers that are thousands of watts? 250 real watts, not marketing watts. The operative spec here is SPL (Sound Pressure Level). Powercab reaches 125dB SPL handily. You should have no problems playing next to the drummer. What’s the reference speaker used? Powercab features a custom designed 8Ω, 12" coaxial speaker that uses a guitar-style cone as opposed to a PA-style cone with a 2” high-temperature voice coil loosely based on the Eminence Beta 12CX format. The 1” compression driver is a Celestion CDX 1-1010, which is used only for Flat mode, monitor feeds, and user IR modes; it’s not utilized at all for speaker models. How do I load IRs into Powercab 112 Plus? From the free Powercab Edit software (Mac/PC) via USB. So I can edit presets via Mac or PC? Yes. Powercab Edit (Mac/PC, available this May from http://line6.com/software/) is used to manage, reorder, backup, import, and export your Powercab 112 Plus presets and IR files (2048-point, 48 kHz .WAV). This allows you to easily create an unlimited collection of presets and IRs stored on your computer, and transfer them as needed to Powercab 112 Plus. Can I get a cover for Powercab? Yes, Powercab covers will be available from select retailers and the Line 6 Store; expected US street price is $69.99. Dimensions/weight? Am I gonna break my back? Powercab 112—22.3”w x 18.2”h x 12”d (33.25 lbs), Powercab 112 Plus—22.3”w x 18.2”h x 12”d (35.5 lbs) What’s the price? Powercab 112—$599.99 US street, Powercab 112 Plus—$799.99 US street When are they shipping? May 2018.
  5. Hi, I got an M5 Stompbox Modeler for the pas 2 years and i really like it. Problem is, since the past few months, i have a problem. If the M5 is on and the effect (lets take heavy distortion for this example) is activated (which means the red light on the on/off is there) the sound is completely fine. BUT if i just press on the ON/OFF button, i'm supposed to hear my clean guitar settings that is coming out of my amp (its pretty much like that for every pedal in the world lol pedal effect off=amp's sound) The problem is that when the effect if OFF, i can't hear anything like if my guitar is no plugged. All my cables work fine (i tested every single one of them) and its only when the effect is OFF that it doesnt work. So i can't use it on stage now because if i just turn off my distortion, i dont have any sound coming from the amp :P If anyone can help me thatd be cool :) (btw i'm not an expert in electronic stuff so telling me codes and stuff will just confuse me xD just explain what you mean and that should be good :) )
  6. Dear all, I've a few quick practical questions. 1- I see that Amplifi can successfully separate core guitar tone and effects, so as far as I understand, if I don't use any stereo effects or reverb etc. it only uses celestion speaker right? Or it also uses other 4 speakers even you have no effects and amp modeling (like bypassing modeling section)? 2- If I connect a multi-effects processor/amp modeler (pod hd500 for example) in "guitar-in" and use Amplifi as a speaker (again by-passing it's modeler section), does it use all five speakers or only celestion? 3- Is there any difference between connecting an amp modeler through guitar in vs. aux in regarding the speaker utilization, frequency range/distribution etc? 4- Elaborating question 3, if I connect variax through guitar in and use one of acoustic models, which speakers does Amplifi use, all speakers or only celestion?
  7. Hey all, I recently purchased a DL4 but it doesen't have any of the stickers or decals on it- the knobs are unaccompanied by the names of their functions nor does the preset knob have any labelled presets. I was wondering if there was a way to obtain these stickers or decals. Thank you!

A: Distortions/Comps/EQ/Volume: 30 Modulations: 22 Filter/Pitch: 26 Delays: 19 Reverbs: 12 Registration & Warranty Q: How do I register my M13? A: You can register any Line 6 product to your account here: Registration. For more detailed registration help, please see the Product Registration F.A.Q. Q: What is the warranty on the M13? A: Twelve months from the date of purchase. Authorized Line 6 Service Centers, will need you to provide a copy of the purchase receipt to validate date for warranty processing. Please be sure to have those materials ready, should you need to get your unit serviced under warranty. Troubleshooting & Service Q: How do I perform a Factory Reset on the M13? A: You can perform a factory reset by entering the Setup screen and turning the Model Select knob on FX UNIT 4 until the corresponding parameter displays ‘RST FACT?’ You can then press down on the Model Select Knob twice to reset the unit. You can also re-install the flash memory to return the M13 to factory settings. Q: Does Line 6 M13 Stompbox Modeler include guitar amp or cab modeling? A: Nope. Just stompboxes. Q: Will the looper still work while I'm changing sounds and scenes? A: Absolutely. Once you have captured your looped creation, leave it repeating and go back to using any of the effects. Q: Where's the tuner? A: Press and hold down the TAP TEMPO button to activate the tuner. When activated, the tuner shows up in the LCD. By default, once the tuner is activated all signals are muted. Q: What is a "Scene"? A: A "scene" is a pedal board arrangement on your Line 6 M13 Stompbox Modeler with 12 available effects, up to 4 at once. Q: How does Latch Scene mode work? A: You can switch between the different Scenes (presets) of the M13 with a single button press. You must first go into the M13’s SETUP menu (hold the Looper Controls button for a few seconds), and in the FX3 screen, turn the middle knob in the bottom row clockwise to change the SCENE mode to ‘LATCH’. Now exit the SETUP menu (hit Looper Controls again) and press the SCENES switch to view the different Scenes of effects. Now, when you press on each of the Scenes footswitches, it will call up the Scene, but you will remain in the Scenes view allowing you to change to a different Scene of effects with a single button press. Q: How many scenes are there and how do I access them? A: With the 2.01 update, you can create and save up to 12 different scenes in one Scene Folder. With 4 Scene Folders, you get 48 total scenes on the M13! Press the scenes button to access the scenes and turn the MODEL SELECT knob on FX Unit 1 to access the additional folders. Q: Can I backup my scenes to my computer? A: You can backup your scenes via MIDI. Check out the M13 Scene Backup document. Q: Where can I get the factory scenes for my M13? A: You can regain the factory scenes on the M13 following the reset procedure described above, or you can download the individual scenes from the Institute of Noise website. Q: Which expression pedals can I use with the M13? A: We recommend using the Line 6 EX-1 or the Mission Engineering EP1-L6 expression pedals. You can also use any other expression pedal containing a 10k Ohm Potentiometer. Expression pedals allow you to change stompbox controls using your feet so you can adjust the sound while you play. On the fly, you can modify the length of your delay time, dial up the reverb mix, or change the depth of your tremolo. Q: One of my LCD screen's color appears to be different than the other LCD's that have the same model family selected. Can I adjust the color to match the other displays (i.e. I have 4 cascading Delay models and screen #2 appears to be not quite as "green" as the other 3)? A: Yes. Power off the unit. Hold down the "Model Select" knob of LCD screen #3. Power on the unit. You can now adjust the relative color of each LCD display screen relative to the other ones.
  9. Q: Will the Stompbox Modelers work with other instruments besides guitar? Yes, the Stomp Box Modelers will work with just about any "instrument level" device including bass guitar. Q: How can I reset my DL4 to the factory presets? A: You can reset your pedal to the factory settings by powering it up with the A and D footswitches held down - the power is turned on and off on the modeler pedals by inserting a plug into the left mono input jack. Q: How can I set up my DL4 in an effects chain? What kind of power supply does the DL4 require? A: For information on setting up your DL4 in an effects chain or power supply information, please click here. Q: Does the DL4 have reverb? A: The DL4 delay Modeler does not have reverb. It has 15 different delay models and a loop sampler. Q: What are some features and functions of the looper? A: The DL4 Loop Sampler function operates at 14 seconds to summed mono outputs at regular speed, and 28 seconds at half speed. A loop sampled and played at normal speed, then switched to half speed, will drop the pitch an octave. A loop sampled and played at half speed will play back at normal pitch. If the speed is then returned to normal, the pitch will be raised an octave. When the DL4 is in 1/2 speed mode, the sampling rate and consequently the bandwidth have been halfed. This shouldn't be very noticeable though as this halfed bandwidth is still wider than most standard electric guitar amps. If you were using the unit with a very clean, bright electric guitar (or acoustic guitar)and monitoring through studio monitors, you may notice the change in bandwidth. While in "Loop Sampler" mode, the DL4 will receive signal through each of its two inputs simultaneously. The input signal will then be summed to mono, sampled and then sent to the two outputs. In order to sample both inputs separately (or in stereo), the unit would have required two separate sample processors and a lot more RAM. Needless to say, this would have increased the cost of the unit dramatically. All other DL4 "Delay Models" will however have a discrete left and right stereo output. Q: How can I use an EX-1 Expression pedal with my DL4? A: For information on using an EX-1 expression pedal with the DL4, please click here. Q: How is the Expression pedal implemented in the loop/sampler portion of the DL4? Can you adjust the feedback level of the loop (so loops start to fade), or just the mix of loop in the output signal? A: The expression pedal works the same way in the Loop Sampler mode as it does in the regular delay mode. You can set the toe-down position of the pedal to one setting of the knobs (excluding the model selector knob) and the heel-down position to another setting. For example you could have the toe-down position set for the loop mix (mix knob) at maximum, the delay level (tweez) at medium, the delay modulation (tweak)at minimum, the delay repeats at half-way, and the delay time set fast (say 3 o'clock). You could then put the pedal in the heel-down position and set the knobs for the loop level at minimum, the delay level at maximum, the modulation at minimum, the repeats at minimum and the delay time long (say 9 o'clock). Now when you're playing (and the play/stop button is switched on), putting the pedal in the toe down position will give you the loop at full volume, pre-loop delay that is of medium volume volume with no modulation and a fast time. When you switch to heel-down, you'd get no loop (even with the play/stop button switched on)with a long single delay that is very loud. Yes it will remember your settings after you turn the DL4 off. The loop sampler can either play the loop indefinitely (until you hit the stop button)or play it one time only then stop (Button C). It will not trail off on it's own. You would have to use the expression pedal to ride it's level. Q: On the stomp-box modelers, how do I turn on the alternate (delay trails) bypass and what does it do? A: Alternate Bypass will allow the delay to remain in the signal (fade off into the distance) when the pedal is turned off, where True Bypass will stop the delay as soon as the pedal is turned off. Alternate bypass mode should prevent any drop in volume level when the pedal is engaged. In addition, it will not cut off delay trails in a long delay setting. To switch between true bypass and alternate bypass mode, you will need to hold down the a and c buttons at the same time for at least three seconds while inserting the left mono input(which will turn on the unit) to initialize alternate bypass. It will remember the selected bypass mode. Since it's a simple toggle, if you want to switch back, just repeat the process. Q: I'm having a hard time getting my bass loops to sync up with my drum tracks. It almost sounds as though the bass loops are slowing down. Is that possible? Or are there some tricks to getting the loops right on the money? A: What you are experiencing is caused by the fact that it is very difficult to record a perfectly timed loop. Even if the original loop is off by the slightest amount of time, that time will be compounded with every repeat of the loop. Example: if the end of the loop is 1ms off, after 10 loops the guitar parts are now 10ms faster or slower than the drum parts. After 15 loops it will have a 15ms difference etc...You may need to re-sample the loop if after using it 6-8 times it doesn't match perfectly. With practice, you will get the feel of the correctly timed loop. Q: Can I make the sampled loop louder without overpowering my guitar? A: While in the LOOP SAMPLER mode, a simple turn of the MIX knob should enable you to control the level of the initial loops. Also, using the DL4 with a Line 6 EX-1 Expression Pedal will enable you to "morph" between two different MIX settings on the fly, from the floor, in real time. Simply place the EX-1 in the "heel down" position and program the pedal to your first desired setting. Next, put the EX-1 in the toe down position and program your second desired setting. Now, move the pedal back and forth and morph away baby! More information on the DL4 can be found at our Stomp Box Modelers product page. Q: What is the "suppressed carrier" frequency of the ring modulator patch? Is it fixed, or does it change with the variable waveform control (tweak or tweez)? A: It is variable and controlled via the tweak knob. 0 = sine, 10 = square wave. Q: How do I get the "Alvin Lee" dotted eighth note rhythm or "U2/Edge" delay from the DL4 pedal? A: The Alvin Lee Dotted Eighth Note Rhythm: The "Alvin Lee" sound is a single slap-back repeat. To set it up: 1. Tap the dotted eighth rhythm into the Digital Delay model. 2. Set Repeats, Tweak and Tweez to zero and the mix to 1:00. It may seem difficult to tap that rhythm in with your foot, but with a little practice, it becomes pretty easy. There is no preset delay value of a dotted eighth rhythm in the Rhythmic Delay model. The "U2 / Edge" Delay: The "U2/Edge" sound has 1.5 to 2 repeats on each of the stereo delays. To set this up: 1. Set the delay model to stereo delay and the unit automatically defaults to the "U2" sound. The Edge delay is actually a dotted eighth rhythm on the left side and a quarter note rhythm on the right side. The way to adjust the delay to this sound is to set the delay time to 11:00, repeats to 7:30, Tweak to 11:30, Tweez to 7:30 and mix to 1:00. If you want the tempo to be faster, just move the Delay Time and Tweak knobs a little counter-clockwise. You will have to make adjustments by ear to get that perfect "dotted eighth and quarter note" sound. The default Tap Tempo rhythm for the models is a quarter note. It is not possible to change this default rhythm. The only solution would be to save the presets with a different rhythm. This would allow for six presets if you used the optional expression pedal.
  10. NOTE: Because they also use 10k pots, the EX-1 Expression Pedal can be substituted with the Mission EP1-L6 or SP1-L6H Expression Pedal. Q: How do I use an EX-1 Expression Pedal with a Stomp Box Modeling Pedal? A: Power off your stomp box modeler by unplugging the left/mono input. Next, plug in your expression pedal and set the expression pedal to the full heel down position. Plug the left/mono input back in and dial up a sound you like. Now press the expression pedal forward to the toe down position, and set one of more of your knobs to another setting. Rock back and forth on your expression pedal and you'll hear your sound blend between the two sound settings you just made. Store this sound into one of your pedals memories and the toe down and heel settings will be saved as well. Example of EX-1 connected to a DL4 Modeling Pedal: - Move EX-1 to heel down, adjust the delay settings on DL4. - Then move the expression pedal to toe. - Now change only the parameters that you want to be affected. - Heel to toe sweeps between those two settings. Q: Do I need to reprogram my changes with the EX-1 every time I plug the pedal in? A: You do not need to restart your effect unit everytime you want to reset the expression pedal. Your expression pedal settings will remain the way you set them up regardless of effect knob settings. Your expression pedal settings can be saved to the effects parameters saved by the footswitches. Q: Can I use one EX-1 Expression Pedal to control two modeling (4x4) pedals? A: There are a couple ways to approach running two modeling pedals with a single EX-1. Both methods require modification (as the ohm resistance will be cut in half): - Replace the 10k pot in the EX-1 with a 5k pot, and use a mono-split instrument cable to each modeling pedal. - Remove the second jack hole cover (labeled "Output") and install a second 1/4" mono jack here. Replace the existing mono 10K pot with a double-ganged or stereo 10K pot. Install the leads from each side of the pot to it's own dedicated output jack, then use one mono 1/4" cable per jack connected to each expression pedal input on the 4x4 pedal(s). Q: How can I get replacement stickers for my Stomp Box Modeling pedal? A: The stickers for the MM4 and DL4 are attached to this document for download and printing. DL4/MM4 labels are also found at https://shop-us.line6.com/hardware/parts-and-accessories/dl4-mm4-tweak-tweez-label/.
  11. Q: What real life pedals are modeled on the DM4 Distortion Modeler? A: All of the pedals that are modeled are descibed in detail in the DM4 owners manual. You can view or download the owners manuals for all Line6 products at the Line6 website Q: What are the factory presets for the DM4? A: The factory presets for the DM4 are as follows: A: Line 6 Drive B: Line 6 Distortion C: Sub Octave Fuzz D: Jet Fuzz
  12. Q: Are the effects mono or stereo? A: The dry audio path and several effects are stereo, but many effects are mono - just like the original effects they were modeled after. Q: In which order should I connect multiple Studio Modelers? A: This is a matter of personal preference, but the general consensus is the Filter Pro first, then Mod Pro, with Echo Pro last. This configuration will allow you to use different Filter and Mod effects on different layers of a loop in the Echo Pro. Q: Can the Studio modelers perform spillover? A: To a certain extent you will be able to shift between programmed presets and maintain your signal. However there is a bit of time warp that is going to happen when switching between delays. It's kind of like changing the speeds on a multi-head delay unit. If you select a program from the delay select knob your signal will be interrupted. Q: Will the Studio Modelers respond to note division? A: Yes, all of the effects modelers have the ability to perform dotted and triplet quarter, eight and sixteenth notes. Q: Can I connect headphones to the studio modelers? A: It is possible to connect your headphones to the Studio Modelers 1/4 inch L/Stereo output. However, because this is a line level output intended for connection to an unbalanced input, there may not be enough volume level for a satisfying experience. We recommend using a mixer with a headphone amp for this type of application. Q: Can the studio modeler synch to a MIDI clock? A: Whether you are sync'd to MIDI clock or simply tapping in beats with the TAP button, a single press of the TAP button will set the running effect's "downbeat" (the time at which it starts moving). In other words, if you are using a tremolo effect and want to hear audio on the first beat, and nothing on the second beat, press the TAP button on the downbeat. Now, if you're locked to MIDI clock and want the computer to do it for you, simply send a single MIDI Continuous Controller #64 (Sustain Pedal) message to the Mod or Filter Pro on the downbeat and the units will start on their downbeat as well. Although the Studio Modelers will sync to external MIDI clock from your sequencer, drum machine, or what have you, as well as pass it along to other devices (providing the MIDI port is set to 'Thru'), they do not generate or transmit their own MIDI clock. Q: How can I control the Studio modelers? A: The Studio Modeler series are fully MIDI mappable and will accepts program change and continuous controller messages from any MIDI device. It is possible to connect and control a single or multiple Studio Modelers via MIDI. You can connect the MIDI Out of a POD, Flextone or other MIDI device to the MIDI In of the first Studio Modeler in the MIDI chain and control one or multiple units from the other MIDI device. The Line 6 EX-1 pedal will work with all of the Studio Modelers. allowing you to control your effects in real time. You can use this to morph from one set of parameters (toe-down) to another set (toe-up) within a given model. The expression pedal function can also be controlled on the Pro Modeler series by using a third party MIDI foot controller. You will need to program your expression pedal to send MIDI CC #4. Q: How do I synch to the bit rate in a recording program such as Protools? A: Bit depth and sample rate choice has to do with what your final media will be, i.e. CD, DVD, etc. Also, if you're working on a project with other people, it's good to have a game plan, for instance recording a project at 24 bit, 44.1khz, then dithering down to 16 bit for the final mix. Typically, this is a good way to go for CD projects (recording at 24 bit, 44.1khz) as you have a greater dynamic range for mixing with the 24 bits, and you don't have to do a sample rate conversion, as you already at 44.1 khz. If you choose a higher sample rate, try to choose a multiple of your final product, i.e. 88.2 khz for a 44.1 khz final product. Q: How can I go into bypass mode using MIDI? A: If you have setup a foot controller to send a bypass CC# or program change to the Studio Modeler, you will need to first engage the bypass by pressing on the footswitch once, and then dis-engage bypass by pressing the footswitch a second time. If you select a different program by using another footswitch, the Studio Modeler will also come out of bypass mode. You can also program and save a preset with your mix level set to 0%. Use this program as your bypass and then you will be able to access bypass and then proceed to another program without having to do a little dance on your foot controller. Q: Can I use a Line 6 FBV or floorboard to control the Studio Modelers? A: The Line 6 FBV or Floorboard will not work with the Echo Pro. However you can take advantage of the numerous MIDI mapping capabilities of the Studio Modelers used in conjunction with a third party MIDI foot controller. This would allow you to control program change, continuous controller parameter functions, tap tempo, and loop / sampler functions from your foot controller. Q: What are the dimensions of the Studio Modeler unit? A: Width: 19", Depth: 5.75", Height: 1.75", Weight: 6.2lb.
