I tried to update to firmware v2.0 using Monkey. The update threw the following error: Tyler Variax update failed. (Code 80009000) Unknown MIDI Error After pulling and replacing the 1/4 connector on the guitar to reboot it and restarting Monkey, it showed that the firmware was at 2.0 -- but ALL OF THE MODELS ARE GONE, GONE, GONE... I tried rolling back to v1.71 but it ALSO terminated with the same error message, same result - NO MODELS and it also SAYS it's back at v1.3, NOT 1.71 as when it was delivered! THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!!! PLEASE PROVIDE A FIX IMMEDIATELY OR THIS GUITAR WILL BE RETURNED!!!! I also logged this problem this morning as: "Download From Guitar Clobbering Workbench Hd Settings" -

Alright so Ive had my 500 for a while and I hear so many recordings that sound great with it. Now Im pretty good with equalizing and balancing the lows, mids, and highs. The thing is though, I can't make a great sound like those in the recordings, I mean I've tweaked but its so far out there I know there isn't going to be some magic spot where it comes alive. Point is it sounds like a solid-state not even tube like which I hear in many other videos. Ive even downloaded the tones that I thought were amazing from custom tone and still sounds like a transistor! So is it in the mixing of the recording? If so then how do they have such a realistic live sound? if you can create a great sound with this, whether you know how you came up with it or not I just ask for every little detail you use when making the tone the recording or playing live, thanks.

So i run my Pod HD Pro into a Mesa 50/50 power amp and a 4x12 V30/G12T75 Cab. On my pod, i run in stack pwr amp mode with the cab modeling off. When setting my tones up, i've always felt like i get a better tone using the full models (power amp included) vs preamp only models, but i have not tried the pre-only models yet in a band setting. Once i get to practice, i'm always wanting to test my latest tweaks to my usual full amp model patches - and i never really tweak at the gig. GRanted, i really feel like i'm getting some great, realistic tones from the full models, but i'm always looking to improve my tone. I realize in theory the "pre-only" models make more sense with my setup, but i'm going by my ears. So my question for those using the pod live with a power amp and cab - do you use the full models or preamp only models. Would love to hear some other folks' experience on this and what you think of each. Thanks!

I just recently updated my Spider IV 150 to current specs and am exploring the new Gain effects. One thing that has always bothered me with modeling amps is the slight delay when switching amp models or channels (from A to B etc.) It occurred to me that with the new Gain effects, you don't have to switch channels to switch to your dirty sound. It's almost like the difference between switching channels and stepping on a distortion pedal (which I assume is what Line 6 was going for). My only issue is that the Gain stomps just don't quite have the same feeling as the amp models with drive cranked up. I've found that Tube Driver gets pretty close for a good rock to metal sounds, when compared to the cranked Class A Red or Insane Red. The Screamer is nice too but, I don't know how to describe it... I suppose what I kept running into is two conflicting EQs between the amp model and the stomp model (which just took time to find a good balance or just pick a new FX1 option) and a difference in output level, the cleans always seem to be more full and a little louder then when I kick in the Stomp effect. In the end I guess what I'm asking is if other people run into this to, how they deal with it, how they use the Gain effects, if anybody has some tips how to apply those effects along with channel volume, gain, drive etc. and lastly do people prefer to switch from A to B for clean/dirty or use the effects? Why not open up the HD model software so that users can create their own guitars, bodies, pickups... In short Workbench on steroids. I hear the griping about Strats 1.9 and 2.0 - why not model EXACTLY the sound you want ? :-) I understand if there is IP Line 6 wants to protect - but surely "open sourcing" the HD models would be a great thing! I am sure most users wouldn't want to go to the level of sampling guitar waveforms and tweaking fft parameters - but enough might! -
When using a James Tyler Variax Guitar with a PODxt Live, POD X3 Live, or X3 Pro, the POD presets will not recall Variax models as originally saved with a Variax 300, 500, 600, or 700 electric guitars.? You would need to re-save your presets with the desired model with the James Tyler Variax plugged in. When attempting to set the Variax model with a JTV guitar using a POD X3 Live/Pro and GearBox 3.72 software, you will experience a condition where the "Don't Force Model" message appears and will not allow for you to save Variax Model associations to your X3 Live/Pro patch. The current workaround is to save JTV model associations manually (without GearBox open) after you've performed any GearBox-related patch edits/organization. This behavior does not exist with POD HD500 via HD500 Edit; only with the older X3 Live/Pro (GearBox) editing scheme. We apologize for the inconvenience to JTV and X3 Live/Pro owners wishing to use the software editing aspect for Variax model-X3Live/Pro patch associations at this time. Duoverb Specifications Setup/Connections Q: Can the Duoverb use an extension cabinet? A: You can plug into any extention cabinet, including the optional Duoverb Extension Cab (an open back 2x12) that really makes the most of the Duoverb's stereo potential. You can use the Split switch to send one amp model to each cab, or blend them together. Q: What foot controller can I use with the Duoverb?
