  1. Hello! So I have a problem, I'm using my UX 1's line input as mono input, I'm recording my guitar amp's line out. I can hear everything well from both sides of my headphone, but I can hear only in mono. I spent like two hours to set one of my tracks to play only in the left, and another in the right side from my DAW, and it's worked from the first minute, but I didn't noticed, because UX 1 sends mono signal to headphones. Checked every settings, can not find anything suspect, basically I can not set too much on UX 1. Already find some similar issues with UX 1, but no solution. Do you have any idea, what should be the problem? I'm using a stereo jack, so this should not be the root of the problem. Any idea is welcome! Thank you!
  2. Amigos, Where can I find a YouTube converter or a simple MP3 converter, to WAV 16 Bits 44100 Mono, official format to play in Spider Jam and JM4 Looper? It seems that iTunes has stopped to provide that and I very desperated, because I´ll must to prepare a new repertoire sooner. From now on I am very thankfull for your help. Please, help me! Hugs, Carlos Bluesman
  3. Application Q: What are the presets on my Spider Valve amplifier? A: The user presets and artist/song presets for the Spider Valve are listed as attachments at the bottom of this document (please be aware that they are identical to the Spider III with the exceptions notated in the document). The Spider Valve user presets are the 36 user-programmable presets. The artist/song presets location cannot be saved, but you can modify and/or store these setting in the 36 user-programmable presets. If you would like to return your unit to the original presets, please perform a factory reset. Q: I noticed that some of the Artist/Song Presets from the Spider III are not present on the Spider Valve? A: Yes, some of the Artist/Song Presets from the original Spider III release were not included in the Spider Valve release due to space restrictions (please compare the two lists for clarification). Q: Are the Spider Valve series amps Mono(phonic)? A: Yes, the Spider Valve series amplifiers have a monophonic output (as are most tube amplifiers). Q: How can I connect a POD unit to my Spider Valve series amplifier? Connecting to Amps and Computers, Output Settings, Floorboard Compatibilty, Fletcher Munson, Multiple Amps Q: Do the Master volume and presence control applied to the power amp section only? A: Yes, the master volume and presence control are true analog. Q: Where is the Master volume located in the chain? A: it is after the preamp, and before the power amp. Specifications Q: What speakers are used in the Spider Valve amplifiers? Spider Valve 112: Celestion Vintage 30, 8 ohm Spider Valve 212: (2) Celestion Vintage 30s, 16 ohm Spider Valve 412 cabinet: (4) Celestion Vintage 30s, 16 ohm Q: What tubes ship in the Spider Valve amplifiers? What is the power output? Spider Valve 112: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS preamp tubes, (2) Sovtek 5881/6L6WXT power amp tubes. 40 watts. Spider Valve 212: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS preamp tubes, (2) Sovtek 5881/6L6WXT power amp tubes. 40 watts. Spider Valve HD: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS preamp tubes, (4) Sovtek 5881/6L6WXT power amp tubes. 100 watts. Q: What are the function of the 12AX7 tubes? A: V1 is the booster to the output tubes, V2 is the phase inverter for the output tubes. When viewing the amplifier from the back, V1 is on the left side on the combo and the right side on the head. Q: Can the SV handle another 12A_7 style tube without damage to tubes or circuitry? A: Yes, but as these tubes act as a phase inverter and a boost to the power amp (rather than traditionally "cleaning up" the preamp section), you may not get the result you are looking for. Q: What Line 6 controllers work with the Spider Valve series amplifier? Controller compatibility chart Setup/Connection Q: Is there a bias switch to change the power tubes to EL-34s or other power tube types? A: No, the Spider Valve does not offer bias switchable options and was designed to only be used with 6L6 power amp output tubes. Q: Is the effect loop series or parallel? Is the effect loop mono or stereo? A: The effect loop is series mono. Q: Is there a headphone output on the Spider Valve series? A: There is no headphone output on the Spider Valve Series, but you can use the XLR output to go to a mixer, then use the headphone jack from the mixer. Q: Can I run my Spider Valve amplifier without a speaker load? A:No, you cannot run the Spider Valve series without a speaker load. Please see the following link for more information on cabinet connections: Cabinet Connection and Ohm F.A.Q. Q: Can the Spider Valve be run with a Variac? A: This is not recommended as the lower voltage can cause problems with the digital processing in the Preamp section of the Spider Valve. Q: Can I run a Palmer S.E., THD Hot Plate, Power Soak, etc. for speaker simulation or power attenuation? A: There are no known issues regarding the use of any direct recording simulators or power attenuators between the power amp output and the speaker cabinet, but if there is damage caused by improper connections or malfunctioning gear it will not covered under the Line 6 warranty. Q: Do the 112 and 212 combos support external speaker cabinets? If so, will the external cabs mute the internal speakers of the SV? A: Yes, the Spider Valve supports the use of additional cabinets. Please ensure that the ohm load is correct to avoid damaging your amplifier. Q: What is the bias voltage for the 6L6 tubes? A: 35 ma (or mv) Q: Does the XLR output still send signal when the amplifier is on standby? Is there an FX loop? MIDI ports? A: The XLR Direct Out (which is a POD-style output with speaker simulation) will function when the amplifier is in standby mode. The Spider Valve has a pre-amp out (effect send) and Power amp in (effect return) section. There are no MIDI ports on the Spider Valve series. Q: What do the FBV shortboard stomp, FX Loop/Function 1, and Function 2 do? A: The Stomp button activates the "boost" on both the original (Mark I) and Mark II shortboard. The FX Loop (Mk I)/Function 1 (Mk II) activates the Noise gate. The Function 2 (Mk II only) has no function on the Spider Valve. Q: Does the FBV controller (long board) work any differently that the other FBV controller switch the Spider Valve series? A: The FBV controller (long board) work just like the other controllers, but there are numerous buttons that will have no functions, such as the Stomp 2/3 buttons, tremolo, and favorite channel. Q: Where is the fuse located in the chain? A: The fuse is located between the 12AX7s and 6L6s (there is no "master" fuse). Spider Valve Cabinet FAQs Q: What are the specs for the 4x12 cabinet? A: 9 ply, ¾" wood with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. There is no ‘internal baffle`. Q: What are the ohm load options for the 4x12 cabinet? A: The switchable ohm load options for the 4x12 cabinet are 16 ohm mono, 8 ohm stereo, and 4 ohm mono. Trouble shooting: Q: What is the manufacturer’s warranty for SV? A: The warranty for the Spider Valve amplifier is 12 months from the date of purchase, the tubes are warrantied for 90 days from the date of purchase. Q: How do I perform a factory reset on my Spider Valve? A: The factory reset for the Spider Valve series is to hold the "A" button while powering the unit. Q: Will using different brands of 6L6 tubes in the Spider Valve void the warranty? A: No, feel free to experiment with other tubes of the same type. Q: My amp seems to be malfunctioning. What can I do as an end user? Amp Troubleshooting Tube Troubleshooting and Replacement *Q: Where can I download a Spider Valve manual? Line 6 Manuals Miscellaneous Q: Where can I get a cover for my Line 6 amplifier? Cases And Covers Q: In the manual's explanation of how to save patch and perform 'NAME EDIT' with the FBV shortboard: Page 45, it states to use the 'COMP' & 'MOD' button to select one of the characters of the channel name. I don't see a COMP button, what should I use? A: Please use the 'STOMP' & 'MOD' button to select the characters from left to right. This was an error in the manual due for revision. 4. As the title says, this M5 has the Right (mono) channel which is overly loud and has a lot of bad gain. Almost as if some distortion effect is always on. Interestingly, if I plug inputs and outputs into both channels, then it quiets down and behave as I expect. I've tried a factory reset with no change. I'm handy with electronics, but before I dig out my multimeter and solding iron, I thought I'd ask. Is there some setting that is causing this (that sticks even with a factory reset)?
  5. Hi Sorry if my english is not very good, I'm Indonesian I have a problem with line6 POD Studio GX The output from the line out/headphones is mono, i can't make it stereo. Pan pot doesnt change the output sound panning. Here are some things that i've done to fix the problem (but not work) Reinstall the software Change the headphone/line out jack till 6 times Updating to the latest driver/software/monkey etc Installing it on different computer Installing on different OS (Windows XP/Windows 7) Setting the line6 audio/midi setting None of the above is work. Usually i can fix some problem like this, I've been using many line6 product since 2003, and i'm working as line6 endorser for PT. Citra Intirama in Indonesia since 2005. So usually i can fix small problem like this. But this one is different, i thing i got a defective unit. Please help. Maybe i miss something. Thanks
  6. Volume Controls The overall volume is the Master Volume control. This is controlled by the 'big knob' when the LEDs are red (the default state). All of the other volumes happen before this one and it's ultimately how you control the output level while keeping everything relatively balanced by using all of the other controls. This is a global control. The Guitar Volume happens just before the master and is how you balance the guitar level against the Bluetooth streaming audio that is coming into the unit. This is also a global control and is accessed by pressing the big knob until the LEDs are white. The Channel Volume is like a Master for just the amp, and it is stored with the patch. It adjusts the output level without affecting the tone (like the 'Gain' control on the amps would). This is the control you use to level your presets relative to each other. The slightly quirky thing here is that it does live in the amp processing slot, so it happens in the signal chain before the post effects. In v1.1 firmware and later, pressing the big knob until the LEDs are pink acts as a short cut to accessing this control without the app. The Gain on the amp panel is the per-patch parameter that affects the tone of the amp (also referred to as 'Drive'.) The Volume Pedal is an additional real-time control whose value is not saved with the patch. You can see in the app where it lives in the signal path. The Master control on HD amps is considered a 'deep edit parameter' (like sag, hum, etc.) that is saved with the patch and is exclusive to HD amps. It's the output level of the preamp to the power amp. When you load one of these models, the stored value is "right" for that amp in the default state and it's usually best to leave it where it is unless you are going for a very specific effect. Speaker Modes on 1500 These modes are accessible though the app. Bluetooth streaming audio is effected by the speaker mode selection as well. Mono; Top Horn, Center Speaker. Stereo; Left Coaxial, Center Speaker, Right Coaxial *Note A Limiter is present on this mode to maintain a full stereo image. You will not get full volume in this mode. Stereo Wide; Left Coaxial, Center Speaker, Top Horn, Right Coaxial.
  7. Hi, I admittedly have not had enough time to physically test the cable to make this work but I cannot seem to find a clear answer before I go down the rabbit hole- maybe somebody has had this pop up also? I bought the HX Stomp and want to use it with a Boss MS3 for a fly rig. My goal would be to hook up the MS3 in the FX Loop of the HX Stomp for maximum flexibility of effects ordering. The MS3 is a mono TS input with 2 stereo TS outputs. I want to use those stereo outputs for some of the delays and additional signal routing possible as a result. I am well versed in the HD500 from the past, Helix Native and also HX Effects for editing tones/signals and such. On the HX Stomp, can I create an FX block that allows for the mono send but with stereo returns on it? Any special work arounds to consider on this? I am pretty certain the MS3 will not like a TRS cable at it's input which would neutralize the FX TRS send, I just don't know how a TS cable on FX Send from HX Stomp will affect the block as a return in stereo. It seems like only real work around is 2 blocks, a mono send and then a stereo return - any other ways to do this as 1 block? Thank you all in advance for the help!!
  8. Hi guys, Have recently started using the Helix LT for my live rig and there is one thing I haven't been able to figure out. Withmy old setup I had a freeze pedal at the end of my chain so that I could ring out the last chord of a song between guitar change overs etc. The Helix doesn't have a freeze type pedal so was trying to patch in my actual freeze pedal. I am facing the following problems: I run a stereo rig, with one head and cab going to left FOH and another going right FOH via XLR. I use Send 1 in a stereo send block to my onstage power amp for stage sound, I don't use a mono send as this bounces down my stereo path. If I use Send 2 of the send block block to the freeze and then return into return 1 of a stereo return block this will send the freeze pedal to the left cab only which is ok, but when the freeze pedal is turned off I am sending the dry signal back through the path which messes with the tone / volume. Using the FX loop would work better but as it's a mono pedal, when it returns I only get signal through one side of the chain. Any suggestions on how I can patch this in successfully? Hoping a freeze type pedal is incorporated into the Helix soon! Cheers, Patrick
  9. Hi there, I bought a Helix about 10 months ago but never got around to using it. My normal gigging and studio rig was/is Mesa Boogie JP2C with a 1x12 Mesa Cab and my pedal board. Nothing crazy. I usually just mic that up and it's done the job perfectly. Guitar is an Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty. The three channels in the JP2C was/is more than enough for me. I've however decided that I wanted to actually make use of my Helix for three reasons. 1) Portability 2) more advance routing without spending more money 3) Modelling has become so good. So, here is my question. I believe the answer is yes, but I am so new to this thing that I might be missing something. What I want to do is have the following Majesty Stereo output with Piezo and Mag through a TRS cable Peizo > Helix Aux In> Whatever cab, effects I want to run> Out to FOH ( MONO or Stereo or WDW..whatever is possible) Mag > Helix Guitar In > into a W D W signal path separate from Peizo > 3 outs to FOH ( Mono for Dry, L/R for wet) Is this possible to within the Helix internally? I've googled and searched to forums but anything I've seen is either 2+ years old, or simply hasn't received any concrete answers. I don't want to leave both the Peizo and Mag on at all times on the guitar, but switch between the two ( this was something someone else was doing from what I read). If it is possible, How do I go about this? Any videos? I've seen the Richie Castenallo vids and many others on YouTube but I don't think I've come across anything this specific. I want to set this up for purely FOH purposes. Sorry for wall of text and please delete if this is in the wrong place or off topic. Thanks!
  10. Hi all, I upgraded to Helix Native some time ago from Pod Farm. I must say there is a lot more to it than Pod Farm (except for the tuner!). I am having HEAPS of trouble doing something, that i could do with ease with Pod Farm.. Here's the situation: Record Rhythm guitars. Panned Hard left and Hard right respectively. Send them to a Stereo bus that has Helix as an insert. Setup a stereo patch, Left input goes to Amp head A, and Right input goes to Amp head B. Seems pretty simple/straight forward. BUT i can not, for the life of me, figure out how to prevent Helix bouncing both L & R to centre. For example. If i mute my RIGHT guitars and send only my LEFT guitars to the bus, I should only hear the LEFT guitar coming out of Helix. But i can hear that my LEFT guitar tracks are going through both my L & R speakers. And also, through both L&R Amp heads in helix. Is helix not really stereo? how do i achieve this? For the love of god, someone please help!
  11. Hello. I output signal from Helix LT via XLR L & R to my interface. I'm curious what would happen if: 1. I output only from XLR Left. What happens to the stereo effects such as stereo delay? Do the L & R channels get combined? 2. Sometimes I output XLR L & R to my interface, and then go from 1/4 L out to my guitar amp. In this case is the 1/4 L only outputting what is going out of XLR L, or do XLR out and 1/4 out function separately so that XLR L & R output as separate stereo signal, and 1/4 outputs a combined signal? Thanks.
  12. Here is what I am looking for... I'd like to run two amps (one for clean tone, one for dirty tone w/ possible tube screamer), and be able to alternate between the two. Initially, I was thinking of running dual signal path for this, and then setting everything to the same switch (pressing the switch turns on dirty amp mod and tube screamer, and turns off clean amp and vice-versa), but I would need the unused path to be muted. I would assume the other way to do it (in the same patch) would be to run the amps in series. I am running a mono output, so I don't need stereo signals. I'd rather not have to set a different patch (in each block of 4) for each different tone in a song. And I would also be concerned about the delay between switching (the firehawk was a nightmare with this, I didn't keep it long...). I'm new to the PODHD world, and I've only been able to spend a few hours with the HD500x thus far. If anyone can give me good insight into how to set this up, I'd appreciate it. For a little more info, I'll be leaning towards the higher gain amps for my dirty tone (Fireball, Elektrik, etc.), and so far I'm liking the blackface for my cleans. My amp rig is a 6505 on an 212 orange cab with vintage 30s. I love my dirty tone from the amp, but I'm currently just using it as a power-amp to see what the HD can do. I find running it into the effect return on the head sounds much better than the instrument line in on the front.
  13. I play my pod directly into my amp, using only a few effects and completely bypassing the Pod's amp model. My signal flow can be seen in the attached image. As you can see, the signal splits into stereo between the null amp block and mixer. If I'm playing directly into my amp stack, should I only use one of the 2 signal paths by centering it and muting the other one in the main mix window? Or should I keep them hard panned like in the picture? Will there be a difference in sound coming out of my cab? Thanks Edit: I dont think the image uploaded properly. The signal is mono throughout my pre effects chain, then splits into two separate paths between the null amp block and mixer, then returns to mono out of the mixer into the null FX blocks.
  14. Hello, I'm looking to buy a helix soon and have been constantly reading forums/watching videos. One thing I read about is mono vs. stereo delays and reverbs. I read that using a stereo delay on a mono speaker would sound bad. When I'm playing live, I will go stereo XLR to FOH and then mono line to my QSC K10 for stage sound. If I keep the same stereo patch, will it sound bad through my speaker? What's the best way to do this? Thanks!
  15. Hey everyone, Firstly, thanks for spending some of your time to give me a bit of help. I've recently moved country, and a friend gave me some speakers as a house warming gift. Problem is, they only have a single auxiliary input, and my UX1 has stereo outputs (quarter inch). WIth my previous speakers back in the U.K., it was simple. I had a cable which connected from the stereo 1/4 inch outputs, to stereo RCA, which I just plugged into the speaker set directly. No problems - stereo to stereo. Now I have bought an adapter to mix the stereo 1/4 inch down into a single auxiliary cable. The problem is, I think I am missing audio this way. Namely, when I test the configuration in windows sound (i.e. playback devices > line 6 UX1) and click to test the speakers, it plays the test sound for the left speaker, but not for the right speaker. However, if I take my aux cable, plug it directly into my computers port, and test, it will play the test sound through both speakers. I don't get why mixing down the stereo to an auxiliary with the UX1 causes only one speaker to work, because surely my computer is mixing the stereo into a single auxilary cable, yet it is still coming out of both speakers. Hope this makes sense. Is there any work around? Or does a UX1 just always require you to keep a stereo to stereo configuration? And buy speaker hardware which has a stereo input option? Cheers everyone. :D Joe.
  16. Hello, I have a stereo signal path that I would like to collapse to mono. When I use the 1/4 output, the signal gets collapsed automatically. However, I want the output to be set to USB and the only option I have is to make output stereo - USB 1/2, USB 3/4 etc. How can I select the output to be just USB 1, and send a collapsed mono signal through it?
  17. Firehawk 1500 arrived this morning. Very impressed. Default patches a bit eurgh, but have dialled in some nice ones of my own already. However, headphone output seems to be mono-only even when the output is wide stereo. Same headphones yield Stereo on my HD Pro X... Anyone else experienced this?
  18. The POD HD series model gallery has the following statement: "Model Types and Mono/Stereo Signal Routing It is important to note that some Models (all EQs, Wahs & Volume, and some Modulations, Filters, Pitches and Delays, as well as the FX Loop) preserve a stereo output within the signal chain, while others (all Dynamics, Distortions, all Amps & Preamps, and other various Models) are mono FX and do not. The POD HD500X Inputs 1 & 2 are fed into the signal chain as stereo (see “Page 3, Setup: Input Options†on page 2•3). Therefore, wherever a mono FX or Amp Model is inserted, the Left & Right channels of this stereo signal is “mono-ized†and heard as a two-channel mono signal at the Model’s output." The booklet does not include the vocoder that I have in my HD500X. So is there an update to the model gallery available out there? Also, can anyone tell me if the vocoder is a mono or stereo module? Appreciate the help.
  19. Hi, I have my firehawk connected to a Yamaha DXR10 speaker. Currently I am using a 1/4" cable connection but I could use XLR instead. Is there a way to stream the bluetooth music as mono through just one cable so that my speaker doesn't just recieve the left channel? If not, then would a Y XLR cable achieve the same thing? Thanks Andrew
  20. Hey guys I want to know a few things so bear with me if things go over your head. 1) can I run this head with just one output jack connected to a modded spider 4x12 that i customized to work in just 16 ohm mono operation? I read somewhere that both jacks need to be connected or the amp can blow if you crank it like this...? 2) I've been cranking this baby with 2 identically modded 16 ohm mono spider cabs will I eventually cause my amp to blow? 3) should I return my cabs to their 4 ohm mono/8 ohm stereo op? Could I remod to remain 8 ohm stereo but with a 16 ohm mono op? I just wanted to use all speakers for the sake of having a full range (jsyk not to be mistaken as frfr) tone through all speakers rather than just two speakers per side. Have I made a mistake? 3) has anyone else just used the CD/Mp3 input for the sole use of the power amp section...? I'm running a laptop w/ cockos reaper and a external usb pre amp outing to the mp3 input jack in stereo with backing tracks + amp modeing into the rig to get my desired result. What are your thoughts on this? 4) line 6 really needs to consider adding more speaker configurations, Poweramp in, and speaker cab mute switch (why mute the speaker when using the di through the amp.. wtf) to their next spider series if they still plan on selling these series later on in the future. *more of an opinion*
  21. Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has looked into the optimum way to feed the helix into FOH sound system. Should I send two channels or one? XLR vs 1/4. Pan left/right completely/partially? I'd be interested to hear thoughts and concerns!
  22. I cant get my head round this: I believe i have the amp outputs (via the mixer) panned both centre (see image) but the chorus effect is ONLY audible on the LEFT XLR out, unless i engage the "dynamics" effect which follows (which i understand sums to mono) then i can hear it on the right-XLR. I have input 2 disabled (set to variax) but changing it to "same as input1" makes no difference. Also inserting a mono-summing effect before the amp does not reveal the chorus effect on the right XLR out. I thought the summing and panning on the mixer (after the amp) would effectively run everything L+R equally. can anyone explain please. thanks
  23. Hello fellow forum members, I just bought a Spider III HD150 head (on its own) and now am looking for a 212 cab to buy. A 412 is not an option now, it may be too big for my car to carry around (we're gigging a lot). So after reading many entries, my (very n00b) questions are: - can this head be run in mono mode? I mean I just did (on a gig), I hooked it to a H&K 212 and fortunately I didn't blow the amp. But may this happen at all? - do you know any not-too-expensive 2*12 cabs that may fit with this amp (technically speaking)? It's not easy to fin 212's with two 8 ohm inputs stereo. Thanks a lot!
  24. I've got what I'm sure some will think is a really stupid question but I'm at my wits end trying to find something of any substance on the internet. I have a Spider IV HD 150 which we probably all know is stereo at 8 ohms per channel. I'm looking at getting a new cab that is rated at 8 ohms mono, 4 ohms stereo. As I understand it, it's generally a bad idea to run a single channel since the amp is designed to run stereo; makes sense. As I also understand it, while it is generally ok to run an amp with a lower impedance to a cab with a higher impedance (e.g. 8 ohm amp to 16 ohm cab), it is not good to run it the other way around (e.g. higher impedance to lower impedance). So, after doing some looking it seems that one option is to simply rewire the speakers into to 16 ohm series, deal with a little volume loss, and you're golden. However, I was wondering if it's possible to bridge the two stereo channels by way of a y adapter. It seems, in my incredibly limited knowledge of the subject, that in theory you would be left with a 4 ohm mono out that could be fed to a 8 ohm mono connection on the cab. This almost seems too simple but it make sense to me, again with my limited knowledge on the subject. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks. - James
  25. Deutsch Français Mono/Stereo Table for the POD HD Series Effects. Special Thanks to JimRyanLine6 who originally researched and created this list. True Stereo - Left input goes to the Left output, Right goes to the Right output, effect is added to each channel separately. Mono - Left input and Right input are summed to mono, effect is added to the mono signal which goes to both the Left and Right outputs. Stereo Thru/Mono Effect - Left input goes to the Left output, Right input goes to the Right output, Left input and Right input are summed to mono, effect is added to the mono signal which goes to both the Left and Right outputs. Stereo Thru/Stereo Effect - Left input goes to the Left output, Right input goes to the Right output, Left input is processed to create a stereo effect and mixed with the Left and Right outputs, Right input is processed to create a stereo effect and mixed with the Left and Right outputs. The difference between the last two is a mono effect will sound like it is in the center of the stereo field, a stereo effect will lay across the stereo field. mono_stereo.doc Mono / Stereo-Tabelle für die Effekte de POD HD-Serie. Vielen Dank an JimRyanLine6 der diese Liste ursprünglich recherchiert und erstellt hat. True Stereo - Der Linke Eingang geht an den linken Ausgang, der rechte an den rechten Ausgang.
