  1. I'm noticing when I use the on board expression pedal that there is a squeaking noise when actuating the pedal. How can I fix this? Could I use Deox IT or some other cleaner or lube? Obviously I don't want to damage it. but the noise is annoying...
  2. So my expression pedal on my floor unit is starting to squeak and creak something fierce now, and I'm not sure where to apply some lubricant to help solve this problem and I don't want to open the guy up to void warranty in the future. Anyone have any Ideas on how to solve this problem or has this problem?
  3. Hello All, I just bought a Helix rack and a L2M speaker last week. I love the Helix sound and ease of use, works like a dream in the studio! The L2M is an amazing sounding speaker! I noticed some buzzing from the L2M last night on certain notes. It seems to be coming from the fan area in the back. Upon doing some research in this forum it looks like this is a known issue but, most of the posts were from about two years ago. I also didn't see a full resolution on the problem (may be I missed?), but it looked like Line 6 confirmed it was a fan issue and they were fixing it under warranty. Does anyone know if this was officially "fixed" by line 6? Shouldn't the new units be shipping with the issue fixed already? I am wondering if I received an old stock unit from musiciansfriend? Before I try to get the unit exchanged, I wanted to get more information here. If this is not fixed then, I may have to look for something else ... may be a Yamaha DBR12 or 15. The buzzing is very annoying in the studio setting. Regards

  5. Greetings fellow forum-ites Recently bought a condenser mic to use with my Helix. Plug it in and turn on phantom power then start to bring up the mic gain and all is good..... ...plug in the USB cable and all of a sudden there is horrendous noise. This noise translates to recordings also. Moving the mouse around modulates the noise. This does not happen when using Variax or Guitar. I'm not really sure I understand why the USB input/output is involved in the gain and input for the microphone. As I said without the USB cable inserted there is no noise and everything is good. Anyone else experiencing this?
  6. Is anyone else experiencing this? When I roll off the volume I experience some noise. I can fade it in cleanly, but when I fade out there's noise. Same exact noise every time. It only occurs with the models, not magnetics. Firmware 1.03 Flash 1.82b
  7. I've recently got problems with a clicking noise when I use my POD HD500X. At first I suspected my guitar, so I made sure everything was tightened properly. It didn't help, and I also noticed that I get this noise from all of my other instruments. It doesn't matter if I use the mono outputs, headphones or use the POD as audio interface. I've tried to reinstall all software with Line6 Monkey, and the problems remain. Here's a video describing my problems: I'd appreciate all kinds of suggestions for solving this :)
  8. I noticed my presets were noiser than usual. I thought maybe it was just my house because I get grounding noises frequently in my room. As I was building a new preset I noticed the noise gate isn't working at all. Don't tell me I'm the only one?
  9. I'm still getting the hang of my IV 150 and haven't found any help elsewhere so hopefully y'all have some experience with this. I've noticed that when playing softly or when two notes are ringing out (maybe during a bend) the volume cuts in and out very subtly, like a tremolo almost. This mostly happens with the high gain models and I'm pretty sure it's happening because the strings volume kind of fades in and put while being held. I think half of the 'signal' is getting caught by the noise gate. I was wondering if anyone has a favorite setting they like for NR, Gate or Gate+NR? Or do you recommend using it at all? I've read some people just turn it off altogether.
  10. Hi everyone, I signed up to post this because I searched and couldn't find a solution, but have found something that works for me. I bought a second hand Pocket Pod some time ago. It's possible that it is a faulty unit, but I always had noise issues with it. The noise was constant and sounded like a single coil pickup in a noisy environment, even though I was using a humbucker in a quiet environment. The noise was there even when using battery power and headphones - i.e. nothing was plugged into the wall. I noticed that when I used a guitar with active pickups, the noise wasn't there. So I figured it might be to do with the impedance. I tried putting a pedal with a high impedance output in front of the Pod (EHX LPB-1 -> 10k ohm on the output) and playing through passive pickups - bingo! The noise was gone. The unit is now dead silent, like plugging into an amp. The quality of the amp sims is now much more apparent so I might even do some recording with the unit, whereas before it felt more like a toy or late night practice rig. I couldn't find anything in the manual which specifies that the Pocket Pod requires a high impedance input, so I don't know, perhaps my unit is faulty. But this worked for me so hopefully it will help someone else out there. cheers, - Steve.
  11. Hopefully I can explain this with some level of clarity ... or not but here goes, I have been reading the manuals, watching & following youtube videos, reading KBs & forums, searching via google, etc. I have invested about 35 to 45 hours over the past seven days (yep, some will say "is that all" and some will say "about normal") and finally used it today. I have learned my tones are slightly treble weighted which I can fix. But after trying many things I had a strange sound come out of the darn thing in my headphones this afternoon. The Treadplate, The Angle F-Ball 100, & Bomber Uber emit a weird sound, almost like a cross between a Jacob's Ladder & a spring only it is heard for about just a few milliseconds when I hit a power chord. So, I decided to reload the 2.62.00 firmware, which I had done last Sunday when I first bought the unit. To my chagrin I discovered that there was an odd occurrence with this reload. Now I had read that there were only 2 user set-list available upon the update when I first upgraded it from v1.00.00 last Sunday and had asked some general questions about why v1.00.00 would be on a new unit. Well, last Sunday after the upgrade, and I did not tell it to save my patches since I didn't have any, I had three user "blank" set-lists, not two. But this afternoon I had a new set-list I had never seen and only two user "blank" set-lists. Now this is a good thing, so no big deal. I did calibrate the expression pedal and found it would not calibrate quite right. I should 45 Duty Cycle instead of 0 at first then ranged between 100 and 65 during the "press A then B then C as I had it at full down, play with it, full up, wait for it, and so on. It took three power cycles to finally work. Then I created a Treadplate only patch and found the sound was the actual hum and hiss of the amp itself out of the box. I even added a noise gate and viola I had recreated the problem, if that what it truly was. So being the geek I can be at times I used Line 6 Monkey to downgrade the Firmware to 1.30 and started over. Same issue with the Pedal as far as calibration and my found set-list was now no where to be found. Well, I'll test the Treadplate. Yep, no change. So back to v2.62.00. Only tie time the Pedal calibrated perfectly. The missing set-list was now found. But Treadplate still had the off-spring of Jacob's Ladder and a '63 spring reverb sound. Hmm ... So I played with all of the following; amp parameters, master sag hum bias bias excursion drive channel vol cab parameters, early reflections resonance level thump decay Used all the microphones available as well Turns out I can reduce the noise to just about a whisper without sacrificing too much tone, and for my ears it actually sounds more factual. But I must admit I have a problem ... my ears are such that if any instrument is out of tune it physically hurts my ears ... really. Or if a group plays outside the normal laws of dissonance ... well I have never said I wasn't odd. So now the questions; 1) Are the High-Gain amps actually modeled with the hum, hiss, and spit of the amp circuits at those levels as you'd find in real world, 2) Has anyone else noticed this 3) Is it that problematic to calibrate the exp pedal 4) Should I have my POD HD500X sent in for Line 6 to look at 5) Have I been assimilated 'nough out of me Thanks for any feedback on this Dennis
  12. I bought the whole system. 2 - L2M, 1 - L2T, 2 - L2S and the M20d. Love the versatility of going with a single speaker (L2T) for small venue or adding speakers as necessary for larger halls. Still learning the nuances and working out bugs. I wanted to explore the L2T mixing board capabilities. Up till now was just using it as a monitor at low volume, so I never heard any problems with it. So, for this test I plugged in the acoustic guitar, vocal microphone, and keyboard. At less than half volume all around (master and input gains), I am experiencing an obnoxious, annoying vibration sound. The vibration is present for many vocal notes as well as lower keyboard notes. It seems to emanate from the rear input panel. It is quite prominent and can be heard by the audience as well as from behind the speaker. To be direct and to the point - It sounds like (expletive here)!!! Anyone have this experience? It sounds like something is loose in the speaker. What troubles me is that the volume isn't near what the speaker is capable of and it sounds this bad - I can imagine turning it up at a venue..... Would be the last time they hire me! Next test will be the rest of the rig to make sure they all aren't vibrating. A bit disappointing.
  13. Hi, Love my new Helix and just starting to discover it's richness and sound palets. Today I discovered something strange. I went spdif out for the first time, just because I wanted to check if this was working for me, or that I had the famous dropouts. Well no dropouts here for the moment, but strange noises coming out of my beauty! Even when the Helix was shut off ?!? Did a quick research of course where this could coming from. Check out....... weird... https://youtu.be/snvEBKZ_o6k
  14. My DT50 212 has a prominent hum, even when no guitar is plugged in. It is not affected by the master volume level. It changes level slightly when using different voicings, but is quite loud in all of them. A tech listened to it and said that it is somewhat higher pitched than a 60 cycle hum. It has always hummed and been noisy, but it was not such a problem in a band setting. Now I would like to use it more for recording and it has become quite a problem, as the noise floor is very high. I have experimented with one or two different 12AX7 tubes in the past with not much difference that I could tell. I have not tried a Mesa SPAX7 as has been suggested in other posts. I have opened a support ticket, but any help/guidance/info from the forum would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
  15. Hi, Searched before posting, couldn't find an answer so maybe someone can help. I have my XT Live connected by USB to my iMac running Snow Leopard, my monitor speakers are connected directly to the XT LIve outputs. I have my sound settings to use the XT Live as my audio output device. When I play through the XT, the sound is fine. When I hit the record button in Logic, I get really bad noise/distortion, which I also get when I play back the piece I recorded. If I change to using the built in speakers, the piece I just played doesn't have the noise, so this is definitely being generated somewhere between the computer and the XT. I have updated the all drivers for the XT, and also did a factory reset. Still the same problem. I've changed whatever various settings I can in both Mac Audio/MIDI Setup, Gearbox (record level) and the Line 6 Audio/MIDI settings in System Preferences etc. One thing I have noticed is that even though I can record into Logic, the level meters hardly move, I'm getting a very low signal - any idea why? Would really appreciate any help with this. Thanks
  16. DT50 212 --- amp went out on me after about 2 months, a quick gurgle as tubes burned out ... then nothing. Thusly, I looked at the tubes ... the EL's were glowing bright, 12AX7's were out. Went to Guitar Ctr and after being assured they'd work, I got the Groove Tube russian brand. I would avoid chinese brands also. Russian just seems better sounding to me. Easy to replace and took about 1 minute of careful pressure to install. Unplug too ... duh?! LOL. I immediately noticed that the factory 'hiss' was nearly gone (like 90%), and the sound was more colorful. I looked online and noticed the EH stock brand was much cheaper than the GT brand. As well, each topology was more defined. 3 and 4 are now my fav's. Wonder how the sound will be if I replace the EL's with a high quality brand? Bribrew
  17. I discovered something quite disturbing this week. In order to put stomp box pedals in front of the HD500, I was testing my Variax JT69US and HD500 by plugging in both the VDI and 1/4" cables to the guitar and setting the HD500 to accept only the GUITAR input. The result was an electronic sounding noise bed so loud, it was unbearable. This happened with both the Mags and Variax PUs. Unplugging the VDI connection and operating on just the battery works fine with no noise. There's obviously electrical interference causing this issue. Has anyone else experienced this or can reproduce it on their rig? Any Line 6 techs have an explanation and/or fix for it?
  18. Hi. My POD HD 500 X has a hiss noise and its hums to the tempo of the tap tempo. Why would it do this and how do I fix it ? Here is a video that shows what it does. https://youtu.be/mFg8CBlv940
  19. I just plugged my bass guitar into the Line 6 Pocket Pod 2.0. I get a lot of noise and not a lot of bass. I've looked through the settings too. Am I not doing something right?
  20. hi I have a Variax 500 and it worked well with XPS-AB until now: XLR thru PA - 1/4" trhu a Marshall Amp. Recently, if I switch XLR to PA, it works well and the 1/4" signal is mute; but when I switch to 1/4" the sound thru the amp is good, but at the same time in the XLR signal (that goes thru the PA) there is a noise and not mute. Help! Frank
  21. I bought sonic port through amazon and received last Tuesday. But, there is problem in sound quality. When sonic port is connected by only earphone (Apple ear-pod) and iPhone 5 and then I start jam up pro or mobile pod, i can here white noise through earphone. Actually, It doesn't disturb guitar playing but I doubt greatly whether it is defective product. Please tell me about your sonic port in this case... T_T
  22. Hello all, My problem with my HD500x is humming and buzzing, mostly with LED lighting and neon lightning. My first 2 gigs with the unit were all quiet, we were using my drummers Chauvet 4-bar mini LED lights. The third gig and every gig from then on, with the same setup, I got this loud buzzing through my HD500x. It was so loud, it was unusable. Shutting the lights off got rid of it. Now picking up buzzing from neon lights in the bars as well as other buzzing at different locations, some bars worse than others. I tried another power supply - no luck. Tried an Ebtech Hum x - no luck. Tried an ABS power filter - no luck. I'm running straight into the PA through XLR's and using the 1/4 inch outs to my monitor. The ground lift does nothing. Pad switch is at normal, output set to Studio/Direct. Noise gates help a little but the LED buzzing is too loud to gate. I'm running out of options here. I love the sound of the HD500x but the noise issue is killing me. It seems every place I play has some buzz issue. Anyone else have these issues? I can't understand why the first 2 gigs I played were fine and now I got noise. The only thing different is that I tweaked the patches, but that shouldn't have anything to do with it. I'm thinking I may have gotten a bad unit since I can't find a solution. Thanks for any help....
  23. My HD500X is producing a noticeable hiss when I try to add analog pedals via the effects loop, even if that loop is not active. For example, I have the effects loop programmed into a block in front of the amp(s) block. Even if I turn the effects loop off, I can still hear the noise AND a hissy version of the analog stomp pedal itself. In this case, it's an EVH Phase 90 MXR pedal. The same issue is present when I try the EVH 117 flanger pedal. Using standard instrument cables, the HD500X's FX SEND connected to the input of the stomp box. The stomp box output is connected to the FX RETURN L/MONO on the HD500X. The FX level switch is set to STOMP. Also, the stomp boxes sound better when NOT used in the FX Loop of the HD500X. For example, if I plug my guitar directly into the stomp box itself, then connect the output of the stompbox to the GUITAR IN jack of the HD500X it sounds less noisy and more natural. I use batteries to power the stomp boxes. Any advice for solving the FX loop noise issue? Thanks!
  24. Hi, On the last weeks, I can't play guitar anymore on Mobile POD and Sonic Port VX on my iPhone 5. I've had the VX for 2 months and it worked fine initially. Now, when I start playing, the VX output starts to saturate (it takes sometimes minutes, sometimes seconds) until it delivers pure white noise. I suspect that some of latest Mobile POD's and/or iOS's updates have led to this behaviour. I haven't tried on both microphones options. The switch is most of the time on the guitar position. Here's the setup: iPhone 5, iOS v8.1.3 Mobile POD v1.7.2 I've also tried with Amplitube and get the same noise. Sonic Port VX still works fine when connected to the Mac for Pro Tools I/O. Thanks in advance for your help! JM Sola https://soundcloud.com/jm-sola
  25. I recently bought a DT50 112, love the sound and feel but the noise / hum when even nothing is plugged in is very annoying. It is about as loud as a window air conditioner working hard. Since I live in a place where the shops do not do exchange or refund, I have to live with it or sell it, which I don't want to as I like the sound. Is there any way to deal with this noise? I am plugging it in the wall with no other electric appliances nearby.
