  1. helllo my fellow man, definitely have been dying to create my first pod post and im already a year old user, procrastination is a harlot but uh this here sitiuation had to be brought up to the boys for this here noobeh. thanks aton. so here is my desired signal chain: ---PODHDPRO--crownXLS1500 rack'd amp--PeaveySP-2 600wPA speakers--- First question: shall i run the outputs of the pod hd into the crownXLS using balanced(XLR) or unbalanced(1/4) i plan to use the pa speaker for all around use, from band practice, to live, and to just me riffing off on myself. i want clarity like most and im playing an electric guitar with a back track from desktop btw... Second question: i also have a yamaha emx 640 6channel mixer i could put in the signal chain right after the power amp and then into pa speakers but honestly i have no clue if thats is useless or necessary..? (i have been using studio monitors when writing but im just tired of it sounding like runny shards when i plug into my spider iv combo amp or our other pa system for practice) Third question: would you guys recomend using an old arse pa like the peavey sp-2ti 600w for this setup or should i go with another rig setup approach. i always thought just my pod hd pro to pa system would do but apparently not but im not to sure on this point, so far im just following directions of a god-like guitarist friend of miine (refering to new power amp addition). id like to say the help would be for the greater good lol but i appreciate all who read this.
  2. Hey all. So I've got a 6 channel interface. I use all 6 inputs for drums. Would I be able to utilize the S/pdif connections on both my interface and the pod? What input, in logic, would I have to pick in order to record what my Pod is sending through the s/pdif?
  3. My UX2 came in a few days ago. I got some decent Bose headphones with a 1/4 inch adapter so I could hook it up to the phones jack, and I noticed something strange. When I plug it in all the way there is no sound or it is at extremely low volume. I've checked knobs and settings and it doesn't make sense why it isn't working. But then, I noticed if I plug in the phones about 3/4 of the way in I can manage to hit a "sweet spot" where the sound actually comes in, but this is bothersome as it doesn't always like staying in place. EDIT: Resolved. It was just a crappy adapter.

    Helix output

Can someone tell me how to connect the helix straight to the mixer . A pictorial representation would be great because i'm a newbie. i want to use helix straight through a mixer .
  5. Hello, I can't find the specifications for my HD500x outputs... Does anyone know what is the impedance and max output of the unbalanced output (at "Combo/Stack power amp" output setting)?
  6. My HD500 is connected to a PA system (with power amplification) via XLR cables, and the other day, the HD500 failed to put create an output signal. The only difference I saw between the time it was working and now is that both of the EXP LED's are lit next to the pedal instead of just one. Pressing on the pedal to try to alternate EXP modes does nothing. I would greatly appreciate any help! Thank you, Jon
  7. I've been using a POD HD500X and Variax through a PA for about 6 months. Yesterday I bought a DT25 combo and my mind was blown by the possibilities. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing. My rig is at the rehearsal room so I can't test this. Can someone tell me if the following is possible or if there is a workaround. I have the POD connected to the DT25 via L6 LINK. I have the Variax plugged into the POD via VDI. When I was playing with acoustic patches they sounded like crap going through the DT25. Acoustic guitars (even models) never sound good through a guitar amp. Can I specify for the Acoustic patches, that the output is the XLR (to the FOH mixer) and for the guitar patches, the output is the DT25? Is the output setting "GLOBAL" or is it by patch? I thank you in advance for your help. Nick Paonessa
  8. hey... i just expirienced one more problem with my m20d. it seems that monitor "a" dies after 20 minutes of playing. the cables have been checked and the active monitors run very fine on all other monitor outputs of the m20d. suddenly, without any reason, the signal is back on but much too loud and the feedback destroys the running song. this is not cool!! after updating the system to the actual firmware the "screenfreezings" seem to be away but now i got that monitor problem instead. anybody else experienced that problem? since the device is more than 1,5 years old i guess i will have no chance to get it repaired within the guarantee-period. and i'm not willing to pay hundrets of bucks for crappy software-workings. sorry.
  9. I cant get my head round this: I believe i have the amp outputs (via the mixer) panned both centre (see image) but the chorus effect is ONLY audible on the LEFT XLR out, unless i engage the "dynamics" effect which follows (which i understand sums to mono) then i can hear it on the right-XLR. I have input 2 disabled (set to variax) but changing it to "same as input1" makes no difference. Also inserting a mono-summing effect before the amp does not reveal the chorus effect on the right XLR out. I thought the summing and panning on the mixer (after the amp) would effectively run everything L+R equally. can anyone explain please. thanks
  10. I know there's a few topics already on this sort of thing but I am the ultimate n00bie when it comes to this. I was wondering how to go about recording with my HD Pro via my UX2 into my DAW, YES I realise you can record direct with the HD Pro connected via usb to the computer but I heard that you can't re-amp/change tones on the fly once the track is recorded. Here's what I tried POD HD PRO -> (14")OUTPUTS L & R -> UX2 INPUTS L & R - > UX2 -> COMPUTER(via USB) I know I'm clearly doing something majorly wrong here so any advice would be very much appreciated. I'd also like to know if you can open HD Pro Edit in your DAW or simply have to have it open outside of the DAW to record. I know these are probably otherwise stupid questions but forgive me, I'm used to recording with the simplistic luxuries of pod farm. ALSO Is there a way to record both dry and wet signals(simultaneously of course) in your DAW(mine is mixcraft 6.... I know) without connecting the HD Pro via an interface?
  11. Sound Sample Below https://soundcloud.com/haeya/help Hi, This is my first time recording with an audio interface and I'm finding it very stressful.... I was struggling with this problem for the whole day!!! please help :( when I play and record guitar in clean channel, it turns out to be really distorted.. (Sound Sample Above) I tried to find out what's wrong... but I have no idea. I found out that when I play, the dB level needle shoots to the maximum point. I tried to lower the output, but it's the same whether the output is 0 or max. Is this normal? What's the purpose of the output knob? Also, after playing a note/chord for a second, the needle drops down again, so the recording cuts off quickly. No sustain. When I play a note lightly, it doesn't even catch it. I am really frustrated. I doubt(try not to believe) that my UX2 is broken because this was in "like new" condition in an open box; the previous owner never used it. But still, could this be a mismanufactured product? the dB measuring and the output levels... are just so weird! Really tired and lost.. Please help! :( I would really appreciate it.. Thank you
  12. Hi there, I used to connect the unbalanced 1/4" OUT of my HD500X into the line input of my M-Audio M-Track. With this configuration I was able to adjust the gain one the soundcard linearly, using the whole stroke of the knob. Now I'm using the HD500X connected with the M-Track with the XLR balanced outputs and with this configuration the first 3/4 of the gain knob have no influence on the signal, only the last 1/4 daoes, and it's obviously very sensitive. I don't know if it's a soundcard issue or if there are differences in POD signal using balanced vs unbalanced outputs. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance
  13. Hey guys, first time post. I'm using the POD HD500 to record in Ableton via USB, just as a standard interface, and I'm getting really low output volumes. I've tried tweaking things and maxing out both the master and amp volumes but nothing works. It will sound fairly loud when playing back, and the right volume when listening to it through the headphones I have connected, but when I export it the guitar track is barely audible. This has happened with both Reaper and Ableton so I know it isn't the software itself. any reccomendations? At max output I am getting around -18 Db
  14. Hi all, Just got the sonic port vx, and am really excited about it, but I have been unable to get any output from the 1/4" L (mono) output while going to a guitar amp . My setup is : iPhone 5s or iPad 4th gen on IOS8+ to sonic port via lightning cable, guitar to input, and L 1/4" output to Vox AC30. After I make all the connections, I open up Mobile POD, and I see a signal going into the phone/ipad, but am unable to get a signal out to the amp. I can plug in headphones into the sonic vx, and hear sound, but nothing through the mono output. Am I doing something wrong?
  15. Hi! I just got a used POD XT Pro and I am looking to get a floorboard for it for live use. I was just curious if it was possible for the two outputs [XLR and PL] of the POD XT Pro can have separate cab/mic settings. I am asking this because given the gigging situation in the Philippines, it may be a good thing to have a cab-sim'd signal out to the PA board and a non-cabsim'd [but amp-modeled] out going to the house guitar amp's FX return. Using this system, I would route the non-cab'd sim to the PL outs, while the XLR outs would be cab-sim'd and be routed to the PA. Is it possible on the POD XT Pro, or even the POD XT Live? If not, is this feature possible on the newer HD series? Thanks!
  16. Hey guys, as many of us use a digital amp like a Pod, AxeFx or Kemper in combination with some wireless system (e.g. a relay...as you read this post ;) ), our signal path is quite full of AD and DA conversions. Therefore I'm thinking of a wireless unit that has digital outputs as well as the good old analog jack. Most of those digital amps have spdif (coax) in- and outputs, hence a spdif-out in the wireless receiver would be nice to have. Are there already plans for such a wireless systems? (Haven't found any topics regarding this with the board search  ) I hope there are some of you, who would like that kind of wireless system as well - if so, raise your voice :) ...the Sennheiser Digital 9000 with its AES-outputs is pricey for a "normal" user :D Greetings Stefan
  17. Hello people! Long story short ive gotta get through about 2 or 3 function band practices without my amp. I have a POD X3 bean for recording. Although I don't have the shortboard pedal to switch about sounds I can easily reach over as its just practice - but how do I rig up my POD X3 bean to the rehearsal studio's PA system? Thanks guys. Lenny
  18. I have been playing through the POD X3 via a nice set of Bose noise-cancelling headphones for a long while now as I've lived in apartments for the last few years. That will no longer be an issue soon and I was hoping somebody could provide some advice on output alternatives (i.e., speakers, amps, etc.). I feel like this topic has been covered to death, except that I couldn't find any great posts or advice that seemed to answer my exact question. I'm also relatively new to the world of amplification so please excuse my lack of understanding. I play solely as a hobby, not in a band and not live. My typical day of playing would involve a lot of backing tracks at home. I play a couple Strats and a nice PRS. As far as music, I'm a huge David Gilmour fan, but I would be playing anything from Clapton to the Chili Peppers. I previously played a POD 2.0 through a low-end (literally bottom end) Marshall half stack. I was always really disappointed with the tone, especially compared to how great the POD sounded through a nice set of headphones. I knew a guy a while ago who played the original POD through a PA system and I was astonished at how great it sounded (he turned me onto the POD in the first place). So, basically, I am looking to replicate as much as possible how great the POD sounds through a pair of headphones. That probably isn't very descriptive, but I believe (just a guess) that the headphones are not processing the sound as much as other output alternatives would. I recall reading the instructions with the Marshall half stack on how best to set it up with the POD and I felt like I was hearing the POD tones very much modified when they were coming through the amp. Granted, the Marshall was a terrible, terrible piece of equipment. What would be my best option for "outputting" the POD's tones with as little modification as possible while retaining some power? In other words, taking the tones I would hear through a nice pair of headphones and producing those through some kind of speaker? Would a PA system be my best bet? If so, anything specific I should look for or avoid? I've read elsewhere that not all PA systems would be appropriate for this kind of thing. Any specific gear you could mention that would be a good example? Thanks in advance for any replies. As I said at the top, apologize if this is the 1000th time you've come across this question but it's an answer I've been looking for for a while. Thanks.
  19. I have a Pod hd pro and i'm trying to record the dry output but it's not working can someone please help? I have my guitar plugged into the dry output and the pod is connected to my laptop by usb and in my daw there is no sound or signal.
  20. I recently started recording vocals with my POD, and I want to turn the XLR outputs (connected to my studio monitors) off while I am recording so that I don't get any bleed into the mic. I want the headphone output to remain on so I can monitor with headphones while recording, Is this possible, or can someone recommend some kind of external controller that will allow me to do this? Thanks, Tyler
  21. Hey guys, I have an annoying problem that's just started this week with my UX1. It's not transferring sound to the right speaker in my headphones, despite showing output levels on both sides are fine. This isn't just with the guitar tone either, this is a problem as a whole soundcard. Itunes, Youtube, even general system noises all come through the left headphone only. I've tried using three different sets of headphones and updated all my drivers but the problem is still here. Help!
  22. Has anyone had success in connecting the Sonic Port to studio monitors for sound output? I can hear fine through headphones. I have KRK Rokit 5's. They have a volume knob on the back and if I crank it I still barely hear anything. The product description implies this should be possible: "You can even connect powered studio monitors via the 1/4†mono/stereo guitar/line-level output." Has anyone had success trying this and how?
  23. Hello guys. I bought line 6 ux2 and I want to hear my guitar through my pc speakers. How can I connect them?
  24. I've had my HD 300 for a year and I truly do like it a lot. All of the reasons that I tried to come up with to justify upgrading to an HD 400 or HD 500 don't pan out for me. I don't have to have an external pedal, and I don't need extra foot switches to go up and down through my banks. The HD 300 is an awesome powerhouse. Well that's my promo. What I really wanted is to get a survey on what the optimal channel volume and master volume should be? Thanks
  25. I use my Bass Pod XT live as a guitar preamp by the DI output for my EMU 1212m, it works just fine. But I also want to use the same Bass POD XT as a MIDI controller. But as soon as I plug in the USB into the Bass POD XT, the DI output turns into model output. I know it works like that with the headphone but hre there's just no way there's a common wiring between the USB and the DI output. Any way I set the thing within the control panel, it only affects the sound for (and of) the computer, not the outputs. a.) is this normal? b.) If so, why? There's no reason why USB should affect the outputs. It doesn't turn the bass pod xt into a stereo soundcard or anything. c.) Is there any way I can get the unprocessed sound through the DI output while using the pod as a MIDI controller without unplugging the POD from the USB (so neither Bypass nor a 5-pole MIDI cable is a solution)? Thanks in advance.
