  1. Hey - I've been having problems getting the volume pedal to save with patches when sent to the pedal from the edit software. There has been a large amount of discussion on the forums with solutions such as "reset whole pedal" to change the bypass volume on the amp setting even if you're not using an amp (that works in some cases) - but with SOME patches, if you send the patch to the pedal, it works until you click away to another patch - but when you click back - it stops working. Here's some video that clearly shows the problem: http://youtu.be/kKe94GaAWtc Hopefully, this will result in a solution that works every time! Let me know if you have a fix for this issue - I like to have a volume control with every patch.
  2. Have two Vettas. (Wolf now only has one!!) 1. 2.03 unmodified with all of my patches backed up none of them with anything Armin on. 2. 2.05 with Armin's toolkit. I wish to use my bulk patch backup from amp 1 to load on amp 2. Can I? Have read horror stories of edit freezing Vettas when working with patches BUT IS THIS JUST PATCHES WITH ARMIN'S CABS IN??? Would consider just reloading 2.5 without Armin but monkey appears not to see any firmware since Line 6 have removed it although I have a copy of 2.5. Have also read that Edit 3 and Armin's toolkit cause freezes; this appears catastrophic to me if there is no way of reinstalling unmodified firmware. Answers need not necessarily be on a postcard but it would be great to hear from someone who has experience of the issues involved and sorted them. I am assuming Armin himself is nowhere to be found?! Thanks in advance for your help. Mike.
  3. Hi All, I got a problem with my X3 Live (MIDI settings) and Reaper. I use my POD for playing live along with backing tracks set in Reaper. I have created track for sending MIDI to POD and it works great BUT..... when I stop my DAW, my POD changes settings by itself (tap tempo is much faster, lower reverb mix). Is there any option to program MIDI to retain same settings while playing and while stopping? Please help. Thanks!
  4. I'm terrible at making patches... Idk how to tweak settings, etc. So I'm wondering if there's anyone out there kind enough to create a patch for me.. I have a link to the site of someones gear that I want to replicate. He has a pedalboard, there is a picture of it and on the site, it says what order he uses each pedal in and etc. So at least you will have some sort of foundation to work on! Here's the link to the website: http://jeffreykunde.com/gear I really want that tone! Idk if there is anyone willing to work on this, but if there is, I'd really appreciate it! I use a humbucker pickup guitar, if that helps...
  5. Hello, Since many of us use dirty and clean sound mostly. I tried to create a patch with dual amps (eg treadplate and blackface) and dual volume controls to switch btw dirty/clean. As if I had only a stompbox to activate dirty. Trying to keep it simple. However it gets too much DSP if I want to add noise gate, reverb, chorus, pitch etc. (pod hd 500) Now, I need some ideas to solve DSP limitation. My first idea is to keep treadplate and remove blackface and try to tweak "noamp" signal with EQs etc to be as close as possible to the blackface removed. (sure it wont be the same) However it doesnt seem easy to tweak with only EQ block, so I got 3 or 4. Therefore, no big change here. apart from using external stuff (reverb of an amp or EQs pedals). have you guys done something like this? any new idea to help me? or should try another approach? or maybe theres a document somewhere that says x can be replaced by y; xyz replaced by w suggestions will be appreciated.
  6. Hi there, I have a little problem with my pod hd500: When working with patches in the ABCD mode the postion of the effects assigned to the footswitches 1-4 always stay the same. What I mean is: I have saved a patch with a effect on fs1 that is activated. I turn it off. Then I change to preset 2 and back to the first one (with the effect pedal). The effect will be turned on again, even if I left it deactivated. When switching to a preset the footswitches always return exactly to the positon in which they are saved. :( I find that really annoying. Any possibilties to change that, so that the pod will remember if I turned the effect on or off without saving it everytime (which isn't possible while playing of course). I hope you understood my question, :) Steven
  7. Hello. For 3 months, every time that I save a patch the Pod X3 Live saves it in the D slot. It doesn't matter if I'm in the 24A or 22B or 13C, etc, it saves the current patch and overwrites the respective D slot at the same time. I try to update the flash memory, firmware and every looks ok in the Line 6 Monkey, but the problem is still happening. Any suggestions? PS: Sorry for the english
  8. Hi There.. Can someone help me? I have a HD 500, and found a video on youtube. kelly simonz did a cover of "the loner" by gary moore. The patch/tone is downloadable from his website, but i cant get it into my EDIT list. Is it so that i have to purchase more line 6 products to get this sound? Link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_MJQdX7zMA
  9. I am also using a fbv express pedal board. I am trying to figure out how I can go from a patch with a delay to a (lets say) a distortion with the delay ringing out and not just cutting off when I switch patches. Can this be done? Please help. Thanks.
  10. I've just completed my Dream Rig with the purchase of a shiny new L3m, no DT. I was playing around to get my patches to sound right when it occurred to me that there are a lot of you guys who have already gone through that pain and nailed their tones. I have looked through Customtone and a lot of the Dream Rig patches are to be used with a DT amp so are only of limited use. It would be great if there was a resource for us 'Stagesource Dream Riggers'- there is no apparent way to search for this type of thing in Customtone so how about sharing in this thread? I will get some of the patches I have tweaked on the thread when I get home from work. I'm currently on a (ahem) break......
  11. Hey just a quick question. I just started using the edit software and whenever my usb is connected to the computer, the patch switching is very slow and hiccups...the patch switches, but then there is a moment, perhaps half a second, of silence, and then the patch finally kicks in. I just wanted to make sure this is normal......however, ideally I would like to be able to leave the board connected so I can edit on the fly and save quickly as I go. Is that gonna be a possibility? One thing worth noting is that my computer is a MacBook Pro, but a 2007 model that is in otherwise perfect running order. Thanks!
  12. So I've got a POD HD500 and I'm pretty dense about using it. Haven't really put the time into it I should, to reap the potential. I digress. In addition to my relative ineptness using gear, I've got a terrible ear. But I'd really like to set up a few patches that ape/steal the tone of a few, certain, probably obscure, players out there (including a bass tone). I was able to find information on their gear/rigs online, but translating them to what's available in the POD is where I get lost. That said, my question is could you use the AMPLIFi app to pre-build the tone, then recreate it in the POD software/on the unit itself? Kinda take my guesswork out of it? I know the AMPLIFi probably has considerably more amp options than the POD, but is this feasible? This is working under the assumption that you could use the free app for research without having to pair it to the amp itself. Thanks! I appreciate you lending me some of your know-how! --gsorkin
  13. Hello Recently I got a POD HD300 and I can't seem to get ahold of a decent tone for my 6string baritone tuned to Drop E. It's really muddy and undefined,I want a more digital tone, similar to Meshuggah-Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza-Periphery etc. I have a .85 for a low E with on a 27,2'' with an EMG 81. A good example of what I'm after(or similar) is this https://soundcloud.com/thelivingdoorway/frederipoff-thordendal Any preset/info will be gladly appreciated. Thanks a ton and happy new year John
  14. Hey everybody, Is there a way to set up my foot pedal on my Shortboard MKII to be able to switch from Wah to Pitch Shifting on the same preset/patch? Maybe set up Func 1 to be pitch shifting, and Function 2 to be wah? not sure if this is possible.. Thanks, Shawn
  15. i'm really upset with line6, after changing a piezo, spending time and money i found why sometimes i cant ear the sound of a cord. as you can see from pic1 there is an almost fully cut between letters A and N of the word BANDO from the other side you can in pic2 what line6 did, instead of changing the part (that i think it cost about 0.20$), they made this: thank you line6!
  16. HI EVERYBODY!! I've just watched on youtube a very nice patch to make "dubtep music". this is the link: Can anyone help me to get a sound like this?? If you have this patch link it!! thank you :D
  17. For the longest time I have had huge problems with my Pod HD 500. I am constantly hearing excess and un-needed noise whenever I am playing on a clean patch (and I can only assume it is happening on distorted patches although you can't hear it). No matter what amp model I'm using, the noise is persistent. I always thought maybe the pickups on my guitar are too hot, but as a raise or lower the pickups, the problem still occurs, even if I enable the PAD switch. I do not believe the pod is clipping for I have the volume knob at about 60% and the mixer volumes (VOLUME A & VOLUME B) set at -5 db. I have all the latest updates and I honestly do not know what to do. I have recorded an example the sounds I am hearing so it can give a clearer indication of what I mean. I will post the link. I recorded a direct signal with a clean patch from the Pod to my interface. Then I recorded the same riff, but with everything on the signal chain disabled. Lastly I recorded my guitar directly into my interface. When it is the completely dry signal from my guitar, i do not hear any additional noise so I can only assume its my Pod. Please help. I am getting awfully fed up with this issue. Thanks Here is the recording: http://puu.sh/3rr3I Clean problems.mp3
  18. These instructions come to us courtesy of user timowens. NOTE: We cannot tell you how to manipulate ZIP files. Google probably can, though. I think the problem is you have to add the .x3m extension to the file; you should also use GearBox for better versatility. I use Windows but here's how it worked for me... Note: In GearBox you can load bundles or individual presets from from your hard drive and it does not actually save them to the POD until you click on Put All or Put Selected. Download the zip file. Open it and save the file LB-PODX3-V1 to your hard drive. Rename the file LB-PODX3-V1.x3m Open GearBox. In the Hardware Memory Window click on Open Bundle. Find the file you just saved "LB-PODX3-V1.x3m" and click open. Now all the presets are loaded into GearBox (but not the POD). You can double click on the presets in the Hardware Memory Window to load them into the GearBox window and audition them. When you find a tone you want to save to the POD, click on the preset in the Hardware Memory Window the highlight it and click on Put Selected to save it to the POD. When you are done, click on Get All in the Hardware Memory Window to reload the presets that you didn't just overwrite from the POD into GearBox. As an alternative, what I like to do is load the bundle into GearBox, find a preset that I want to save, double click on it in the Hardware Memory Window to load it into the GearBox Window and click on the File menu, click on DualTone and then Save As, give the preset a name and save it. This will save only this one preset to my harddrive. When I've saved all the presets that I want I can either close GearBox and restart it or click on Get All in the Hardware Memory Window to reload GearBox with the memory from the POD. Now I can find a preset in the POD that I don't want to keep, double click on it to load it and then use the File/DualTone/Open command to load one of the individual presets that I just saved on the harddrive. Now you just have to use Put Selected or Put All to commit the changes to the POD. Hope this helps.

  20. 2x12 and 4x12 are not showing up on PODxt series Q: My manual refers to output modes "4x12" and "2x12", or "VIBE", but I can't find them on my POD XT Live A: We decided to use more intuitive, user-friendly terms on the POD XT Live, but unfortunately the manual was not updated. Where the manual mentions "4x12" and "2x12", it is referring to "Stack mode" and "Combo mode", respectively, in the Pod XT's "What am I connected to?" mode. Each of these modes offer the option of connecting through the "Front" of the amp or the "Pwramp" (back) section of the amp. When using the "Front" option, tone correction options are made available to shape the overall PODxt output to sound good in front of a combo amp. The "What are you connecting to" page previously offered an option for "Live: Front of 2x12 Combo", which was basically a "2x12 power amp with speakers" setting with some additional filtering to compensate for the sound of your combo amp's preamp section. This setting was replaced by the VIBE setting, which split out the speaker configuration and the combo preamp compensation into two different adjustable parameters. Incidentally, the VIBE setting that mapped to the old "combo mode" setting is "MIDHVY - 480Hz" when used along with the "Live: 2x12" DEST setting. PODxt set to MONO Q: How can I set the Podxt to mono if I'm connecting the Podxt to a mono amp? A: You will have to set the Podxt to "Live" mode. To do this, select the tuner button, turn the select knob until you see "What are you connected to" page. Turn the "Effect Tweak" knob to "Live 4X12 or 2X12" or "Stack" or "Combo". This will alow the Podxt outputs to be mono. EX-1 control parameters on Podxt Q: I am having a problem getting my PODxt to allow me to control the effect parameters via the expression pedal on the FBV Shortboard. A: The EX-1 expression pedal will control some functions and this is how you get them to work. Press the "Edit" button then turn the "select" knob until you see the "wah | volume" page. On the volume side, select or highlight "Assign" with the third soft button located under the main display. Turn the "Effect Tweak" knob to change from volume to Tweak. In the updated PODxt, these parameters are changed on the page after the "wah/volume" page. By changing from volume to tweak you have engaged to EX-1 to control any function that comes under "tweak". To find out what's under the tweak selection, turn the "Select" knob to the next page where you will see "FX Tweak | tempo". on the FX tweak side you may scroll through the stomp tweaks, delay tweaks, mod tweaks etc. Make sure if you select say the delay time, the delay button light must be on and so with the other effects. PODxt three stomp with FBV Q: Can the PODxt actually play three stomp box sounds when conected to a FBV? Section 9-7 of the pilots handbook seems to indicate that. A: These buttons are for the Vetta series of amps. With the PodXt, the Stomp2 button controls Compression on/off and Stomp3 controls Gate On/Off. This is explained in the documentation that ships with the FBV. Connecting any POD unit to an amplifier POD Connections, Routing and the 4 Cable Method Amp bypassed on PODxt Q: How do I bypass the Amp Models? A: In preset mode turn the amp model knob counter clock wise to Bypass with all the effects buttons off, this will put the Podxt/Bass PODxt in bypass, then "save". You are really making a bypass channel or bypass preset. Q: If I set the PODxt to bypass the amp sounds, is the preamp of the PODxt bypassd, will I get the pure tone of my amp? A:Yes, you can also save your setup as a preset (no amp model, just effects). Can you adjust the S/PDIF or AES/EBU output volume level? Press the I/O & Dig Select button on the right hand side of the POD / Bass PODxt Pro. Then press the Soft Button below GAIN and spin the EFFECT TWEAK knob to add up to 12 db of gain on the digital outs. This is useful to help cut down on excessive use of normalization after recording in the digital domain. Pod XT Input specs: Q: What is A.I.R. II? A: A.I.R. II is Line 6's second generation Acoustically Integrated Recording technology. It expands your sonic choices and creative options by allowing you to choose a variety of microphone models and adjust their placement in front of the cabinet. Microphone choices and placement options include models based on Shure SM-57, Sennheiser MD-421 and a Neumann U-67 - on- and off-axis. Line 6, GuitarPort, POD and Vetta are trademarks of Line 6, Inc. 21. On POD X3L, physical expression pedal positions, when assigned to a TWEAK parameter, will not be stored upon saving the patch. However, the position or value of the effect parameters in Edit Mode (UI) that the TWEAK Pedal is assigned to, will be stored upon save. This means that when you recall a patch with your expression pedal in the heel position, assuming the expression pedal is set to control a tweak parameter (IE: delay mix), the patch will recall the value you saved the tweak at (IE:Delay Mix 80%) and not the PHYSICAL PEDAL POSITION of the expression pedal (IE: Heel position or NO DELAY MIX) This behavior is similar to the way the POD XTL and Vetta works.
  22. So you got the perfect sound... Now you want to save your own patch... Press 'SAVE' to bring you to the "SAVE TO:' screen. The bottom 4 knobs are critical to this process as they change the values that are directly positioned above. The first knob alternates between saving in Tone 1 and Tone 2, the third knob moves the cursor left and right, and the fourth knob changes the character that the cursor is positioned under. Use these knobs to select whether you want to save the patch to Tone 1 or Tone 2 and to change the name of the patch itself. Once you have set the name and tone position, use the save knob to choose which bank you want to save this to, then press the save knob again to save it.
