  1. (Preset + IR in attachment) Hi all (some older members may know me as VTM, when i created metal patches for the good'ol podXT). Today a title which was fully recorded with the HX Stomp (all guitars and bass). This one is special as it allows the guitarist to also play a bass line at the same time, using a signal split and a pitch shifter ! A quick taste of this tone here : StrongBBBAAAACK.wav DIR_Deasil_REC.hlx
  2. Hello everyone! This is the new thread dedicated to bass presets for Pod HD series. The original thread was located in the community "Long forgotten bass players", but I think it will be better here. I hope that this thread will become a place to share experiences, knowledge, and above all, our presets for bass! To start the discussion, here's my Bass Setlist for HD500 with 20 patches: HD500 Setlist V3 - "High Output Bass Amps" (16-Jan-2013) http://www.mediafire.com/?h4yta8468nawfzt How to convert Setlists: If you have a different Pod HD, you can use this tool: http://www.jzab.de/content/pod-hd All this presets are set on a "single arm chain": What you get with this Setlist is a high volume of output using a Bass, forget the messes that involved the dual input configuration, and make the pod HD works in a very similar way to how the Bass Pod worked (regarding to mono wet and dry outputs). But here you have the advantage of being able to play your bass in true stereo, too. Now you can have a balanced sound between the bass and guitar, and record comfortably in your sequencer. I left the presets configured as inputs Guitar:Same, but please, I do not want to contribute to this confusion. Using this new configuration (let's call it "single arm chain"), the input 2 has absolutely no effect on the sound (when using the config 1 mentioned below) If you want to record two mono tracks (wet and dry, panned all the way L/R), then it makes sense to use the second input as "same" (when using the config 2 mentioned below). Unmuting the Channel 2 you actually obtain a completely dry signal from your instrument. Of course you can also use a combination of both if you want to use another instrument on channel 2. But most important is to understand that in this way we have two inputs completely separated from each other without causing strange effects in the other, or interfere in any way. As I said before, for me this has been a great discovery. Thank you very much to Meambobbo. This is the structure for v3 patches: 1- Noise Gate. I'm currently using noise gates, until I learn how to use the hard gates. I'm a little slow! More details here: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/ampTone#noiseGates 2- Tube comp. Almost same settings than before. 3- Classic Distortion. Still here, for now. You could also use a wah pedal or whatever else here, if you prefer. 4- Analog Chorus. I removed the ugly delay in front of the amp, and now I have a chorus. I like this effect for bass, and I think this is the best sounding of the three possible. The Dimension and Triple chorus does not sound bad, but have far fewer parameters and are therefore less controllable. In contrast, analog chorus has many controls, a vibrato mode, a tone control, etc. For now I used a basic setting, but it sounds pretty good with the reverb. 5- Studio EQ. Still here, for now. I'm not using it much now, because I have found that it can be a specific setting for each bass you use. Maybe try a parametric EQ, but it seems much more complicated for me: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/eq 6- Mid Focus EQ. Hi and Low pass filters, now with settings 5%-65%. Gain between 0-30% 7- Spring Reverb. I used a reverb that is noticeable, but not annoying. Sounds great alongside the chorus. At least I like to use them together to have a good time. Note that when using chorus+reverb, overall volume will also rise up! I have had this in mind, so that the volume is not excessive when active. Still, if you play too hard, this could produce clip, so look first at gain settings I put into the Mid EQ. 8- FX loop. I´m using a Boss RC-300 loopstation here. About the Inputs and Mixer settings using the config above (single arm chain): Config 1: Just to play (Stereo) Input 1 - Guitar Input 2 - (Doesn´t matter, since PathB is muted.). Mixer - PathA +12 dB center, PathB Muted (panned 100%R just for convenience when using config2) Config 2: Recording (2 mono channels, Left Wet (processed), Right Dry (unprocessed, or DI) Input 2 - Guitar Input 2 - Same Mixer- PathA +12dB 100% Left, PathB +12dB 100% Right So you can: Record a stereo track selecting the stereo input, and then split the track on two separate mono tracks on your DAW. OR, arm two mono tracks on your secuencer selecting each separate mono input, and record both at the same time. Personally I like best the second approach, becouse I´m using Logic Pro, maybe in your secuencer there is an easier or practical way to do the first one.
  3. Does anyone know if this is possible? I bought an HX stomp to use with physical pedals. I already have great sounding patches on my PodGO, but would love to find a way to convert PodGO patches (,pgp) to the HX format (.hlx) without having to manually recreate them. Is there a JSON hack to achieve this? Thanks!
  4. Hi, I'm new to the Helix LT and I'm looking for links to download presets. I have seen here a topic where a lot of links to download IRs and cabs are included and I wonder if there is something similar for the presets Thank you! regards!
  5. I picked up a Helix a couple days ago and am loving it. Been using a Kemper for a while but that will more than likely be sold soon. One glitch I am running into that I can't find on the forum... There is a noticeable drop out when I change patches. Has this been identified by anyone else yet ? I updated to the latest firmware but am still getting the delay. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
  6. Hi. I have a Helix floor and Helix Native. I don't know if this has been asked before. But is there a way I can transfer all my Helix floor patches to Native and Hx stomp? Thanks
  7. I'm making the transition from the Boss GT-100 to the HD 500. One of the things I LOVED about the GT was its ability to switch patches and THEN toggle the individual effects on and off inside your new patch. Switch patch and then go into stompbox mode. Having trouble figuring out how to do that on the HD. From what I understand you have to be in ABCD mode to toggle between patches and 5-8 mode to toggle FX on and off. Is there a way to switch modes on the fly like on the Boss unit - change patch and then go into stompbox mode?
  8. I have a problem with my helix that's been bugging me for weeks and which I can't seem to solve by myself. I use the helix for rehearsing with my band and have a patch for every song, with the snapshots being controlled via midi. My clean tone has a split in it, where I have a clean signal with only amp, ir etc. in path A and the reverb and delay on path B. The reason for that is that I like to heavily EQ those (I have a high cut set to 2.0khz because I like the effects to be rather mellow and dark and feel like that without EQ, they are way too bright), but don't want those EQ settings on my general guitar tone. Now, since I only need the split for the clean tone, I'm wondering about what to do with said split for the distorted tones. Even with all blocks on path B turned off, I still have two (identical) signals going into the merge block, which would make the tone more muddy I suppose? Correct me if I'm wrong. I could just turn down the volume down for path B, but that affects the volume of the tone in general (it is louder when I simply delete the split) and doesn't seem to be the ideal solution. Isn't there a way to decide for each snapshot if the split is active or ignored? There does seem to be a power button on the switch block, but when I turn it off, I still have two signals going into the merge block, so I guess all it does is deactivate all blocks on path B. Does anyone have a solution for this? Any help is very much appreciated (tldr: what I basically want is that when I have a clean snapshot, the split should be active and when it's a distorted snapshot, the signal should simply go from input to output, completey ignoring the split and path B). I attached a screenshot of the rhythm and clean tone for one of my patches.
  9. Hi, I am new to all of this so I apologize if this is an ameteur question. I recently purchased a Helix LT and I downloaded a patch made for a Helix (10 Footswitches). When I drag the patch into the HX Editor, it doesnt work well with the Helix LT. I am assuming because the LT only has 8 footswitches. Is there a way for me to edit the patch I downloaded to only have 8 footswitches? I basically want to delete a couple effects that I dont really need. Thank you!
  10. Hi everybody....To keep the forum less cluttered, I will be posting all of my 'Artist' and 'General Multi-Purpose' preset announcements and demos in this thread. It will make it easier for anyone that is following this thread to keep updated. Thanks, Moke
  11. i bought a pod HD500x a few weeks back, as like everyone else i'm in lockdown, i was going to go for the Helix, but i didn't need all the ins and outputs and the IR, so i bought a brand new 500x and saved £900 pounds or a $1000. what a brilliant effects processor , and to say its about 14 years old, brilliant. all the tones that come with the 500x are no good, enough to put you off the 500x, but i made some myself and heres the download link, i also had a old unopended audio cassette so i used one side of it as a screen protector see pictures. enjoy the tones, i use an american fender professional strat with HSS pickups and headphones, and if using an amp i have a basic marshall 50w, 500x pluggen in front. all tones sound brilliant, even my killer of giants tone that can be used for the intro to killer of giants on neck pickup selector 4 single coil may look basic screen protector but it works if something ever dropped on it http://www.mediafire.com/file/4884tgyovajrfe5/fav_tones_500x.rar/file some tones here , use headphones, american professional HSS strat used, https://line6.com/customtone/profile/6six6 stay safe, stay 2 meters apart and rock and roll

  13. Olá, amigos! I´m looking for the primarely sound of Big Muff inside a patch. That´s why I pointed some as 271."Lazy", 285."Smoke Water", etc. For example: 51."Hands Down" is too crunchy! 265."Godzilla" is himself in black&white. I know that you can change some parameters in the patches, but I used not to change them. I do prefer to call them in the factory mode. See? I am still with the good ol´ Spider Jam of my heart! Working all nites bringing joy to the people of town. When the pub have P.A. I carry my JM4-Looper, my lovely "pedaleira"!.. Afterall, many thanks for your attention. Happy Days! 14. Hi, why is it not possible to convert the patches from helix to spider or vice versa? They are all Line6 products. It would be good if that were possible with a Line6 converter that only converts Line6 patches with each other. The converter should then be available for download on the Line6 homepage. Thank you.
  15. Hi, fellow Helixoids! I've just released 13 new Helix sound sets, available at the Helix Marketplace. I've taken an unusual approach: While we all know that Helix is great at mimicking classic analog gear, I've been exploring Helix as the unique and powerful instrument it is, with an emphasis on startling new tones that could only have been created in Helix. I think these sounds will appeal to restlessly creative players in search of new tones and textures. (Admittedly, they're probably not suitable for REO Speedwagon cover bands.) Each board sell for $13 and has its own demo video at the above link. There's also a combo back offering all 13 sets at a 40% discount. Its demo video, which provides a taste of all 13 products, is a good starting point if you're curious. Thanks for listening! :)
  16. I would like to be able to manage / edit my patches for my legacy POT XT PRO device. I am seeing there was a tool called Line6 Edit that appears to do what I want. I can't find any evidence if that product still exists anywhere or is usable today? What is the best way for me to manage / edit / configure my XT PRO device patches from a current windows 10 laptop? I am able to open my saved bundle of patches in POD FARM 2.0 but it appears it does not recognize most of the models and it did not seem functional to me.

  18. Hi I am pulling the plug on a Helix LT. Can't wait. I currently am using a Boss GT100. What I like about BossToneCentral is that there are professional patches that are made by world-renowned guitarists. Is that the case for Helix Patches. I know it comes with some standard patches but I have only seen patches from users, which is great but I would like some standards if possible. David Gilmour patches. 50's guitar sounds etc. Can someone enlighten me on the sounds that come with the Helix or downloadable from world-renowned guitarists? Thanks
  19. I'm looking at buying a Firehawk FX. However, I'd really like to be able to use some patches that were made for the Pod HD500x. Is this possible? If not this is going to make my decision between the Firehawk and Pod very difficult.
  20. Hi I've downloaded several great patches for the POD HD500X, but they don't seem to respond to the volume pedal. Some of the patches such as Luke, Luke2, Bogner Shiva Distortion Fusion don't have the volume pedal listed in the effects view. However, even when I add volume pedal as a selection, it doesn't seem to affect the volume. The patches work great if I'm in a controlled environment (like my basement), but I can't use them in a live gig because I can't adjust the volume on the fly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks - Steve
  21. Sorry to bother y'all, I know this is a basic question... I bought my Helix July 14th and want to start downloading patches from the site but, after watching videos and looking at other forums, I still cannot figure out how to properly set things up. I have downloaded the Line 6 Updater as well as the Helix sidebar thing for dragging and dropping patches. However, after hooking the helix up to the computer and trying to drag and drop a few patches, errors kept coming up and failed to download. Clearly I technology is not my strong suit... do I just need to update something? Please help! Thank you
  22. Hi, I've been successful in changing patches on my Pod HD500 using Cubase LE AI Elements 8, but the Pod just doesn't toggle the effects on/off when a midi command is sent to it. The Pod is sending and receiving signal as I have even recorded effect toggles from it to a MIDI track, but the Pod only responds to the patch changes, not the effects toggling. I'm not sure if I need to change any settings in the Generic Remote Settings. Can anyone help please? :)
  23. Hello everyone! Merry Christmas and happy new Year to all of you! I can finally say that thanks to my new Shuriken Sr250, the Helix lt and 2 frfr speakers i found my final setup! I tried everything, heads, combo, pre + power amp rack etc etc but nothing holds up the comparison, you just have to spend some time to set and program everything. I made this patch Acoustic Paris Patch Video I use only the helix blocks, without any external IR, let me know what you think ;-) Gio
  24. Hello y'all! I am new to the world of Digital Sound. I am a veteran here in my local music scene. I'v played through a Mesa Boogie F50 and Laney GH50 for the last 14 years. Using different setups from rack to floor fx setups. Like many on this forum I've gigged extensively, have written and have recorded many a track and tune. I took a break for the last 5 years. I stepped back in a year ago through a couple friends who wanted an EP produced, which I am hoping both will be complete within the next few weeks. The reason I decided on Helix and to enter the world of digital sound are many. One it's where the market is progressing towards. 2. I needed to hear and feel the difference myself as a guitar player. 3. I am hoping to be venturing in to my creative disc in the coming weeks after I finish said artists production. So, I thought maybe this unit will offer some inspiration. Finally I decided this against the KEmper, Axe and Headrush. For the money my research found this unit is a solid overall machine for the value. We'll see. I purchased the Helix rack, the controller and a Headrush power cab a few days ago. I am waiting on the power cab. Since my purchase I have started a journal documenting my journey with the machine. I thought I'd post the journey here in hopes to A) Meet some incredible people, musicians and creative talent. B) Learn something from the community and finally C) If I can offer help that would be cool too. With this said; Please chime in, offer anything such as direction, feedback and ETC. I'm here to be a part of everyone's creative journey as I frolic through my own. Cheers. Below is my Journey through Day 1 through 3 with a couple pics. Day 1: Not impressed with the machine, but all I have played through are the presets it came with, and I'm running through a pair of JBL 2300's. I'll need to create some patches using it as my source. Day 2: Helix update: Jumped on it this morning after beginning my fun diet of smoothies, boiled eggs and tuna. (I have officially acknowledged that my age dictates my weight. Therefore I must fight the battle of aging so that I may live longer, play more and do all of our favorite thing to do... How can I say this politically correct? Headboard against wall. ;) So back to subject at hand. My goal with this machine is to emulate a tube amp's characteristics. Such as touch response, harmonic clarity, string articulation, textures of gentle compressed lows, warm mids and pleasant highs. While offering that 3d visual one gets when listening to a tube amp. So out of the box the Helix is very very digital sounding. There is no love out of the box for an experience player. However, the interface is very intuitive. There are a few parameters that are new to me. Such as Sag, Ripple, Bias along with a couple more options. These are suppose to control an amps "characteristics". They do, but ummm.... Not as noticeable as one may think. What I have found is like in music production a little goes along way when one is mixing. Same goes for the Helix rack or it seems. For example: Right now I am using the emulation of an Bogner Shiva connected to its Uberkab 4x12 loaded with V 30's. This has a high gain and dark sound from the get. I have a Ribbon 121 mic 8.5" away from the grill giving it about 30% of room ambience. Initially it sounded good, but nowhere near the goal I'm looking to obtain. The first thing my ears notice were harsh grainy highs and muddy lows. (Remember my source. I am pushing the Helix through a pair of JBL 2300 studio nearfields. They are loaded with a 5" wolfer and 1" tweeter. A guitar cabinet is at least a 12" speaker. So, I am asking a lot out of the JBL's. I basically want the Helix to come across as a well mic'd 4x12 cabinet. Think about this, I want it to sound like 4 12" speakers out of 2 5" speakers. I am pushing the Helix. ;) After eq'ing and compressing with emulated gear such a LA Studio Compressor, the MXR 10 band EQ, a low and high filter along with a noise gate. Spending about a half hour on it by figuring how each parameter, and piece of emulated gear react with each other. I have come very close to the sound being acceptable. Almost there. If I can reach what my ear is asking for I'll post a video of it if you're interested in listening. I'm learning a tune from Metallica called "and Justice for All" I believed they used Mesa Mark IV's on that LP, but I decided to use the Bogner. Which is probably a fault since my ear is accustomed to that Mesa sound. Either way I started with the Bogner so I'll finish with Bogner. Day 3: ;) 3rd Day with the Helix. Today I am running it through my recording rig. It's a modest set up with a couple Focusrite 18i20's and Pro Tools. I recorded the patch I spoke of yesterday. An emulated Bogner Shiva with its 4×12 Uberkab. Thus far I am digging the tone. Both through the 5" JBL's and the recorded track through a pair of Tonnoy 6" nearfields. I'm still missing the touch response and 3D sound you can hear through a tube amp. I do not expect this unit to nail it. However I'd like to be able to feel as if I am playing through a tube amp. I'm sure some of this is physiological and a mental obstacle to I need to accept the LIne 6 Helix is what it is. Today I am going to learn the cool features Sag, Ripple, Bias and ECT. Hoping to find that "touch response" I'm looking for. I know this will not nail a tube amp, but I'm sure I can get close, or am I asking to much. Today my goal is to find it. Below are pics of my modest jam room/studio, the axe I am using to workout my first patch and the patch I've started to build.
  25. Everything is okay with (old) workbench, updating Variax 300 with new firmware, reflashing, etc. Except: I cannot update any of the patches. As soon as I start uploading a patch to the Variax 300, UBS interface starts flashing on UBS side, no flashing on Variax side (just green) and then error with connection and also connection to workbench is lost. Happens on Mac and on Windows. So problem must be on Variax side. Does anybody know what the problem could be? (I got the 300 recently, second hand. Only had JTV's so far)
