  1. Hi All, I had a rummage through the forum and couldn't find anything similar :-/ The problem: Pedal C and Modulation pedal both don't work: no light when pressed; no change to function; i,e, Rest of the unit can't see those 2 pedals being pressed. Everything else works fine. What happened? The power supply socket on the motherboard came a bit loose, and power was cutting in and out. - I opened the POD. Got the motherboard out. HAD TO DISCONNECT THE RIBBON CABLE from the motherboard (the one that goes to the two pedal banks. Also disconnected the ribbon cable at the Volume/wah pedal end. - Unsoldered the power socket from the motherboard - it did have a broken leg. Soldered in a new one - power was all good after that. But..... Having put the motherboard back into the top half of the POD body, and reconnected the ribbon cables, although the power is fine, and all the functions work, Two pedals don't work: Pedal C and the Modulation Pedal. i.e. the LED doesn't come on, and the functions don't change. ALL the other pedals and functions are fine. I used a circuit tested to confirm that the buttons behind the two offending pedals are both fine - they behave exactly like all the other buttons when they're attached to the circuit tested and pushed. So, I suspect there's a problem either in the ribbon cable, or somewhere beyond that. ...and that's where I'm stuck. Help!! Is it time to sell this XT Live for spares? Is there an easy fix? Something else??? Thanks in advance :-)
  2. Ok there are a bunch of posts on this topic but I didn't find any with pictures, or any that were specifically for a helix LT model, so following the instructions from those posts without being able to see what I was getting into was a bit scary. If you're a smooth-brained half-wit like me and you need pictures (and you have an LT model). Here you go. Here's the summary of what you're going to do. Take the back off. Loosen the expression pedal bolt. Apply some lube to the spacers that the pedal pivots with. Put the back back on and re-tighten the pedal bolt. 1. Take the back off. To do this, you need to remove almost (see exception below) every single screw you see on the back and sides. You'll need a small phillips screwdriver and a small hex/allen wrench (sorry I don't know what size the one I used is). EXCEPTIONS DO NOT REMOVE the 10 screws around the XLR left / right outputs, Variax / Digital Out ports, and power cord port. You don't need to remove the two screws directly underneath the pedal. I zoomed in on them in one of the attached pics. It's ok if you do remove them, but know that they hold a plastic support piece in place for the pedal to rest on inside. When you remove those screws that plastic piece will come loose and you'll hear it rattle around the inside and then think you've ruined your wonderful line 6 helix. You haven't. It will just scare the crap out of you and then you'll figure out later (like I did) that it reattaches really easily. 2. Loosen (don't remove) the tension bolt that the expression pedal rocks on. You'll need a 10mm hex/allen wrench for this. I made about 3 complete turns to loosen it to the point where the pedal rocks forwards and backwards pretty loosely. Three may be too many turns for yours - keep an eye on the nut at the end of the bolt and don't let the bolt come out of the nut. You're basically loosening it just enough so some lube can work it's way in between the white spacers/bushings and the metal where the pedal attaches. Ok so at this point, you've got the back off. The tension bolt is loose and you can see the two white spacers/bushings at each end of the expression pedal tension bolt. 3. Apply a very small amount of lube to the top of the spacers right up against where they touch the metal bracket/braces. By "a very small amount" I mean try to use as little as possible. If you use something that drips, clean up the drips. But try not to apply any amount close to an amount that would drip or spread to another area of the board. Apply some lube and rock the pedal back and forth. Do this until you feel like the lube has probably worked its way in some. Re-tighten the tension bolt. Rock the pedal. Still hear the squeak? Loosen it again and apply more lube. Follow this process until you are squeak free. Worked for me on the first go. What kind of lube should you use? I have no idea. Would be nice if someone from Line 6 could answer that in the comments. Other posts on this topic reference many lube suggestions including chapstick (of any flavor), white lithium grease, bike chain oil, silicon lube, this teflon dry lube, and others. I used a really thin bike chain lube called "Dumonde Tech Original". Don't use WD40 - it can be corrosive. Don't spray anything. Whatever you use, apply it to a small q-tip or a thin piece of plastic as an applicator. 4. Put it all back together. If you did end up removing those two screws under the pedal that I referenced above, reattach that plastic piece to the back first. Then put the back back on and screw all the screws back in. Be careful not to tighten too much and strip the screw holes. Just snug, hand tight. That's it. You did it. You're officially a hero now. No one will care that you fixed your squeak, let alone on your own, but don't let that stop you. Rock on with your invisible hero cape. You earned it.
  3. I’ve had both an hx stomp, and now a stomp xl, and my expression pedal is not working for swells. I plugged it into the expression 1/2 on the stomp, and then added a volume block to my patch. I tried putting my volume block at the beginning of my signal chain, after my amp, and at the very end. I also tried messing with the global settings. My issue is that it works for turning up and down my volume, but even though it’s before my reverb and delays, it shuts off the echoes and delays when I roll it back. I want the echoes and delay to continue decaying after I turn down my volume. Instead, it starts turning off my reverb and delay instantly as soon as I begin to roll back on my volume pedal. And this keeps happening regardless of where I put the volume block in my signal chain. I also turned up my decay time on my reverb block as far as it will go, and my volume block is still shutting off the decay. What do I need to do to get the volume block to work for swells?
  4. I would like to know: if I buy an LINE 6 FBV2 pedal switch, would it be possible to work in a Spider v60 MKII? is that possible?
  5. Hi I'm trying to record a cover of "rock + roll" by EDEN(link at the bottom) and wanted to use my M5 pedals "Jumbo Fuzz" preset to record the guitar section at 1:31-1:45. However i cant get the recording to sound like the video or the output to my amplifier. It sound weirdly poppy. Like there's no sound when muting the strings but as soon as i start to play a not the volume shoots up rapidly. I have attached a sample of the recorded effect. This happens with any of the "Fuzz" presets but not with other distortion effect like "Overdrive" which i used in an earlier part of the song. My audio chain is Guitar -> M5 -> M-Audio M-Track -> Audacity on PC via USB -> Guitar amp via M-Track headphone out Guitar settings: Volume knob is cranked to max, Tremolo knob is set to zero and the pickup selector is set to the lowest setting. M5 settings: I have tried to play around with all the settings to no awail. M-Audio M-Track Settings: Gain is set to the second tick. Main and headphone volume level is maxed. Guitar amp settings: All effect are disable and all knobs have been turned to 0 except for gain and volume. M-Audio M-Track: https://m-audio.com/products/view/m-track This is my first venture into recording stuff onto my PC so any help in figuring out where i went wrong would be much appreciated. Best regards - Gentle_Chu WeirdSoundEffectM5JumboFuzz.mp3
  6. Good afternoon I would like to control global volume (like turning manually the big weel on top of Helix) using a CC# managed by a pedal. I haven't found the correct CC# Anyone Could help me ? Many thanks in advance Marco
  7. I am currently using a pod hd500x board with a variax jtv 59. Floor board us on its last legs and I’m looking for a new model with the same features my current one has. budget is under £400 uk id like some advice if possible please (need the expression pedal as I use this regularly. Also need the ability to fully control the Variax and tunings from the pedal.) Any advice is gratefully accepted
  8. Please help, I have a Helix LT and bent the built-in pedal. I purchased the Mission Engineering EP1-L6 and saw on another post that instructs to plug into the EXP1 port. I don't have a EXP1 port! When I plug in and use the pedal, its only functioning as a volume pedal. I went into HX Edit and right clicked the "position" where I can select EXP Pedal 1 and EXP Pedal 2. Pedal 2 shows Volume, I can see EXP Pedal 1 shows (Pitch wham: Position) EXP Pedal 2 now shows (Multiple 2) but when I adjust the pedal it's still a volume pedal. I am able to get Wah with EXP Pedal 2, but it seems to be a combo of Volume and Wah. Heel position is zero volume The Volume isn't selected. Screen shot attached. I don't see an easy way to make the pedal operate as the pedal 2 Wah. Please help! Thanks in advance. Ron
  9. I'm currently splitting my signal with a boss oc-3 into the helix and I have it set on the range setting where it only picks up the lower notes, I would like to switch over completely to the helix. Is there any ways to achieve this same effect?
  10. Hi, I wonder if I can use the Mission Engineering expression pedal that I normally use with my Line 6 HX Stompbox, with another brand of gear, e.g. a Fender amp. Is it necessary to involve the Stompbox ?
  11. I'm not worried about the guitar tone, that's on me since I'm new with this device, the problem is the whammy effect goes mad! when I play that chord. I made sure the guitar was in tune (D standard), the guitar is very bad and doesn't hold the tune very well, but that whammy sound produces me nightmares. The pedal seems to be alright when I use it with volume and wah, and the effect I'm using is Pitch Wham. It's a matter of having the guitar perfectly on tune or is it a software problem? Does anyone had a similar problem? It's my first day with the Pod Go and I don't know I've I should ask for another one or is it my fault. whammy out of tune_.mp3 First of all I'm a total noob, sorry for the audio. In the audio file recorded with my phone I tried to play the whammy riff from Stranded - Gojira and as you can hear isn't nearly close.
  12. So it’s just… HX Stomp, but with more touch footswitches and all the jacks on the back? For $150 more? Yes. …Why? Because customers asked for more switches. Or kept finding clever—but way less elegant or integrated—ways to add more switches. And it was relatively easy. We’re not going to pretend it’s the most innovative product we’ve ever designed but for some customers, it’s the goldilocks form factor. Thanks, but my personal needs require a Variax input, twice the DSP, and six switches, not eight. Why didn’t you give me exactly what I want? <exasperated sigh> So it’s like the size of two HX Stomps? If you omit the space required for jacks on the side (even pancake jacks), more like 1-2/3 Stomps. It’s 12.5” wide (vs. HX Stomp’s 7” width). Depth and height are virtually identical. Does it add anything else? Hands-free Pedal Edit mode (tweak presets with your feet), 128 presets vs.126, four snapshots per preset vs. three, and you can access the 6 Switch Looper without needing a MIDI controller. Other than that, it is HX Stomp with 5 extra switches. Does it have the Command Center? Absolutely. In fact, a big reason HX Stomp got the Command Center in 3.0 is because we had already done the work for HX Stomp XL. Wait, what happened to the Volume knob? We moved it to the back panel to save room. It’s spring loaded so you can recess it into the chassis to keep your cables from accidentally turning it. Can I use third-party power supplies? Yes. Any power supply that works with HX Stomp should work fine with HX Stomp XL. Can it load HX Stomp presets? Yep, just drag ‘em in via HX Edit. It can also load Helix, Helix Rack+Control, Helix LT, Helix Native, and HX Effects presets, as long as they contain 8 or fewer blocks on a single DSP path. What are the reset options? Hold these button combinations while powering up the HX Stomp XL: 1. FS ^, C & D: clears all presets/IRs 2. FS ^+C: resets presets and IRs 3. FS C+D: factory restore (globals, presets, IRs) 4. Page >: Update mode. This update mode is helpful if the update is interrupted, and the HX Stomp will not boot properly. You will see a blank screen (no visual feedback on the display). 5. Upper & Lower Knobs: Rebuild presets. Wait for "Will Rebuild Presets..." to appear and let go. Can backup files be exported/imported between HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL? No, the backup file is not compatible across HX Stomp and Stomp XL. If you would like to move your presets, IRs, etc. You would need to manually export the individual files and import them into the other device. You can also connect both devices to HX Edit simultaneously and then drag and drop the files across HX Edit windows. Both versions of HX Stomp or HX Stomp XL should be on the same firmware version for dragging and dropping to function.
  13. Hi all, In the user guide I was looking at what models each pod go amp/pedal is based on and noticed that some are shaded with a lighter shade of their given colour, others a sharker shade. What does this denote? Thanks all.
  14. Hello, I just got a Wiretap recorder pedal for use with Helix as I needed a way to just stomp and have a separate device record my ideas, without setting up computers, apps, loopers, etc. It's working great. I just include a SEND block wherever I want in the chain and I can get a wet or dry signal into it. The pedal also has a return and "true bypass" of course as it is meant to be inline with other effects on a pedalboard. And that's where the issue is: When I SEND with 1 block and RETURN with another, I get a high pitch buzz sound that indicates maybe I have a signal routing issue. Both send and return work fine separately, but when I put both blocks in the same preset and enable them both, the problem arises. This is probably a newbie mistake... Do I have to have the SEND before the RETURN or visa versa? And should I be using the FXLOOP block instead of the separate SEND and RETURN blocks? Also, because I can record dry and then play back that dry signal at the front of the sound chain, there is a really cool "tone tweaking" mode I can go into. Instead of having to pick up the guitar and play notes to hear what I've changed in a preset, I can just run the loop endlessly, and it's like I'm playing constantly while I'm tweaking. Super helpful and is saving my back the constant shuffling back and forth. Just a tip. Anyone else done this? Any tips related? Thanks, Joel
  15. I have a helix floor and I have problems with the volume pedal, the volume range marks from 0 to 100% but on the physical pedal it only travels 90%, when the pedal marks 0% volume on the physical pedal I can still lower a 10% that the helix does not recognize me, do you know how I can calibrate it? what can i do ?? video-1607103624.mp4
  17. Anyone else have problems receiving MIDI messages into the USB input from other MIDI over USB pedals? I'm using a DA Electronics iCtrl-R Mini and with the Helix floor, HX Stomp, and PodGO using USB connections, I get nada. All settings for Trasnmitting/receiving MIDI over USB are correct. Any hints/Thoughts? http://www.daelectronics.com/
  18. Hi.. I am a midlevel guitar player.. I want to buy a multieffects for play worship at the church.. i dont have enough money for get a Helix.. my budget is around $650... I want to know wish one between pod hd 500x and pod.go will you recommends for play it at church... Thanks
  19. Hi guys, well ive got some troubles with my Helix Lt recently, i found that the big Volume Knob its controlling the position value of the pedal blocks (Volume blocks and Wah blocks) and then when i move the pedal up and down it doesnt work. No matter what i do, i tried deleting the blocks and add them again and it still not working. I suspect if is the famous issue with the breaking Helix Lt pedal? What can it be? Here is a video where is shown what happens exactly: https://m.facebook.com/groups/1730763273911707?view=permalink&id=2719353501719341
  20. Hi, I am having issues connecting my Dunlop Cry Baby Wah to my HX Stomp. I have seen that this can be done, but I might be missing something. When I connect the Cry Baby directly to the Stomp, and try to assign the Wah block to the expression/FS, it doesn’t seem to work. Anyone know if this is something that can be done? I am new to connecting additional pedals to my Stomp, so I might be missing something. Thank you!
  21. Hey guys, So I have a HX Stomp, a few pedals and a Laney IRT with an FX loop. What I would love to be able to do, is run the setup using the 4 cable method, but also incorporate my existing pedals, but I am just having a little trouble wiring it all up. I have checked the forum, and watched some really helpful videos on YouTube on the 4CM and the stomp, but haven't found anything directly related to this setup I'm not sure whether I'm asking too much to get this all set up right or if its even possible, but is there a way to be able to have the HX stomp connected to my amp via 4cm, so I can use some effects before and after the Laney, but also have a my other pedals in the chain so my OD pedal is before the amp, and my reverb & delay pedals are after the amp too? I'm currently hooked up like this : Guitar => OD pedal => HX Stomp Guitar input // Hx stomp L out => Amp guitar input. Then it goes from the Laney FX send => Echo pedal => Reverb pedal => Looper => Laney FX return. This so far sounds good, I can use the drive effects and others from the stomp, but its all fed into the front of my amp. I like the flexibility of being able to use the onboard amp sims if I can because they sound great! I would really appreciate any help from anyone who has a similar set up, or knows that I'm just talking rubbish and it will never work haha! Thanks!
  22. Hi everyone, I hope you can help me. My Uber Metal line6 pedal is not turning on. The light goes green and immediately it goes red, flashes red a couple of times and goes off. I tried with a battery and a 9v adapter but the same thing happens. Any help is appreciated!
  23. Hey guys, I'm still getting used to the transition to using a multi effects unit after being used to pedals for a long time. I know generally to dial in a sound on an unfamiliar pedal you 'start at 12 O'clock and go from there.' My question is when you load an effect, are the control parameters considered "12 O'clock" when the bar graphic is half full, or when the knob is in it's default state. Thank you!!
  24. I have a problem with the volumen pedal, if I move it all, all the drive parameter of the cabinet is moved automatically to 50%. I updated the firmware to the 1.30 v and also downgraded to the original version, but the problem was not fixed. Even the pedal calibration was done. You can see the problem on the video. does any body has the same problem? Is there any solution available?
  25. Hi Guys, Would like to know if there's a way in POD HD 400 to assign an effect in the footpedal (Volume/Wah pedal) Ex. I can assign and control the level of delay, echo, modulation etc. in the pedal.. Thank you
