Hi folks! Having changed from tube amp to the Helix as my main "amp" now, I have a very specific question on monitoring the Helix output. I might want to add, that my band's PA is a good, compact Dynacord PA with EV FOH speakers. Most event stages in my home city are quite small, so it is optimized to save space. For this reason we have only 3 wedges, one for the keys, one for the drums and guitar (this is me) and bass have to rely on the third one. The Helix is going by XLR stereo directly into the PA. Sometimes I unfortunately cannot hear myself well in the mix, so I ordered a Yamaha DBR12 to use it as a Helix signal monitor (Helix 1/4" mono out --> DI-box --> DBR12). I am afraid, that, getting the direct blast from the Helix then, I might not be able to hear my share of the FOH mix from the wedge, I have to share with the bassist (who usually is the man on the mixer, as well). So I thought of the DBR12's second signal path. I could feed it with the monitor mix and mixing down both signal paths (from the Helix and FOH) in a way that the Helix is just slightly louder than the guitar in the FOH mix. So I could - theoretically - be in the clean. But! There is an identlical signal in both signal paths, which is my guitar. Would that lead to problems that the guitar signal could be phasing out? If so, how could I avoid this problem? Getting an individual monitor mix without guitar in it, is, unfortunately, out of reach ... Equally difficult would be a modified signal for the 1/4" output with a delay of a few ms, because on a few presets I use all of the Helix' processor power or signal paths (especially on those, where I use acoustic guitar simulator and electric guitar sound at the same time). What are your experiences? Will the phasing problem occur? If so, how could I solve it?

So I've been trying to make the JVM and HX Effects work for a week now with no success. I've got some experience setting up gear and I can't get rid of phasing issues when running the HX Effects through my JVM Loop. The amp has two loops. One series and one programmable series/parallel with a Mix knob. Phasing happens on both (fairly expected from the parallel one). I'm doing the 4 cable method as suggested by the L6 manual using a minimal setup. Guitar - HX 4cm - JVM and have one FX Loop block with a Horizon Gate and a Simple Delay after it. It's not about maxing out the mix on the delay thought I have messed with the mix settings both on the amp and the HX. The phasing is there even with no effects activated and it happens on both loops. The only setup that doesn't create phasing is HX Effects in the Series JVM Loop without the 4 cable method, which sucks because I mostly need it for the front-end effects but Gate/Delay are a must for me in the post section. Surprisingly I didn't experience the problems most people have with this combination. Setting up the channel switching was easy and I've got minimal noise. Anyone of you guys had the same issue and found a fix for it?

I've read a few useful guides (meambobbo amongst others) on the subject of using one or both inputs to get a "purer" input signal. Consequently, since i've had my HD i've run as one input only believing there is a trade-off running both inputs parallel. Obviously, the main factor being a loss of level when disabling input 2 (set to variax when using a regular electric guitar on input 1) Now i'm wondering how much of this is psychological but i will need to tweak all my patches if i change this. I'm interested to know who else feels there is any "loss" as a result of setting input 2 to "same" or "guitar" through phasing issues? Perhaps on paper or a bench test there is some time-shift, but can anyone comment on a loss of tone through setting inputs the same? What settings do the rest of you use for inputs 1 & 2? thanks all
