  1. Hello. After switching from the POD HD500x I am building my presets from scratch on the Helix and I am unsure if I should keep some free space for effect in between amp-block and cab or use the Amp+Cab cominations. Which effect should be definitely placed in between amp-block and cab? I like to try some recommandations before and after the cab for a comparison in the results.
  2. I have always used round picking when playing. I use a 1.14mm pick. So I A/B'd my Mesa versus the Helix in my headphones. Not sure why but in the headphones when using the Helix I hear my pick which I assume must be heard in the front of the house and or monitor. While this may be due to how the electronics work (which I know little about) I am wondering if anyone has tips or solutions to this in the way of microphone placement to the speakers as much as tone settings on the amp models themselves. I am not a sound engineer, just a guitarist, however, I am doing my best to learn about the engineering aspect as it appears everyone in this forum who is well versed with the Helix has a foundational knowledge of sound engineering. So I thought I'd ask the following; 1) Which choice of microphone best works for live sound 2) Which choice of microphone best works for recorded sound (or is it the same mic for both live and recording) 3) How far from the speaker should the distance in the Helix be for the various modeled microphones (1", 2", 3", or beyond) Any other help would be greatly appreciated Thanks for any direction Dennis
  3. Hi Guys and gals! I have a question about the placement of the Vintage preamp. Im running a split path Top for acoustic and bottom for mic. Originally I had the vintage pre at the start of each path but it sounded negligible and average at best. Then I shifted the vintage pre to first spot then split the paths. Wowzer it sounded amazing!! Buuuuttt I then effectively have 1 path I think as all effects (eq and boost) afterwards effect both guitar and mic even tho it's split. Why does the preamp sound so much better like this? Do I need to start with the mixer and pan guitar left, mic right (i run mono out anyway) then split paths, then have the preamps? Maybe pramp, then panned mixer, then split? Help haha! Thanks.
  4. So where is everyone placing the Eq's in the chain. Ie before or after the amp. Which seems to work best for you?
