  1. Hi, I'm trying to use pod farm 2 with a direct connection from my guitar to my computer via a Tracklink Guitar to USB Interface USQ-110 and using ASIO4ALL for compatibility, but the latency makes it unusable. I've tried everything I can think of in order to get it down. I've tried turning the buffer rate all the way down to 64 samples and switching to Reaper, but neither worked. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Please help!
  2. I'm sorry - this is probably an old frequently asked question, but the answers I find by searching don't seem to correspond to what I'm experiencing... I've had a Toneport UX1 for quite a while now (7 years I think) but haven't used it for a while. I used to use the Gearbox software, but that appears to be no longer supported. Am I supposed to use Pod Farm instead? If so, should I expect it to work straight off or do I have to pay to get it licensed? Answers I read online suggest that as a Toneport owner the first, but when I start it, Pod Farm 2 tells me it is not authorized... this suggests to me that I need to pay. What is the current situation for owners of old(-ish?) Toneports? Martyn
  3. Hey I was wondering if anyone knows of a place or has any mp3s or wavs of guitar tracks that are unprocessed and have no effects on them. The purpose of this is to set up a recording session where i can try out different tones from pod farm on the different tracks to see how they compliment each other or sound in a mix. i would just record some simple stuff myself but i do not play any instruments i only record and im also away from my studio so i dont have my interface box with me so i couldnt record anything even if i could play something. so any information on this subject would be great. ideally id like a full part of a song on separate tracks i.e. drums, two separate guitar parts, and bass, but if there were a place to find even just one unprocessed guitar track thatd be great
  4. Does anyone know if there is a way to set up any sort of footswitch (maybe MIDI) to toggle through tones in Pod Farm? I have a ux1 running into a Mac Book Pro. I'm trying to make Pod Farm hands free. Let me know if you have any info. Thanks!
  5. hi there, i recently bought a behringer guitar link ucg102 for my macbook pro as a guitar interface, it works fine with garageband but i want it to work with pod farm 2.56 platinum, if i go to the settings and then hardware and then choose the behringer as my input device under "use this device" and then click ok nothing happens .. i mean there is still no guitar sound and when i go back to the hardware settings i find that the settings "use this device" disappeared and i have to choose my device again ... can anyone help me? that would be nice! one thing aslo, does pod farm 2.5 support retina displays?
  6. My computer bit the dust and I no longer have any use for PodFarm. I deactivated my devices and started the return process. I am greeted with an "error 8211" with no instruction on where to go from there. I have been a customer of line 6 for quite some time and intend on continuing my realationship with this great equipment. As soon as I can navigate my way around a refund for this podfarm I'll be sinking that money right back into an hd500. So, please help so I can get back to playing! ~Joe
  7. There are some pretty sweet tones out there uploaded by HD500 users and you can use these and or tweak/convert them in farm if you download POD HD500X Edit As a tip you can open farm and 500edit at the same time and mimic (as best you can), the FX and the ordering of them + settings. In 500, all the settings will be in front of you in the interface see below ....so that makes it easy. Next you need to manually adding them in farm as best you can. There was one FX in this example HD500 tone that literary does not exist in Farm. It was this "colordrive distortion" pedal. Had to google it, as I never heard of this pedal before....so learned something new I guess. Anyway, you may have to find a substitution in these cases. See next image below which is the same tone now in farm (at least a best effort). If you can match and get the ordering close, this technique may work well for you to get some additional tone by users when you don't own the HD500.
  8. So for those who have used gearbox and pod XT or X3 in the past ,here are some tips to making the transition of your tones to podfarm or using podfarm. this will also include using farm to enhance your tones and moving them back to your Pod XT/X3 hardware for standalone.playback. First, let address the volume difference using pod XT as an example: XT is a standalone unit obviously that runs on 9V DC and 2 amps, POD farm using GX for example is 5V DC and USB interface, which is .5 amp...quite a bit of difference. As such, what you might notice is that sounds in gearbox moved to farm are about 2/3 lower in volume. Yes you can move the volume up to 10 if your tone was 3.3 but who has there dialed in tone at that :)...it's just not a good formula. Next is to see what farm can do on its own to raise that level without too much coloration. the first thing to do is EQ and when that is not enough, the cleanest pre-amp can be added, which I found to be the coucel. I played with this testing over a weekend for hours and hours and will share what I found to be the best setup for trying to match output as it was in gearbox XT but without adjust volume as much as possible What I will show is how to start from a baseline and make volume changes only after you have exhausted all other options. If you find these settings add some small coloration then drop the settings equalty across all EQ bands and instead go after the master volume. You can also increase volume on your amp, but this is to get the tone the same through headphones so its as true to start as possible. Here are the tips: If your old XT/gearbox tone is a single path (which it should be, you can open that in farm and duplicate the track (doubles the volume 100%) this should get you really close. I feel that to absolutely match, you need to have 1 path get an EQ adjustment at the end and a preamp after the amp in the chain. see below screen shot for how this looks for your newly added preamp and EQ added to 1 path for additional boost. Circled in yellow is the additons that pod requires to help boost where the old tone was. Settings for preamp and EQ are as follows: -------------------------------- The next scenario I will describe: When you have two tones you really like and you want both in pod farm so you can merge them and mix each for best of each. In the case below I enhanced my "A" path tone which was darn near perfect but lacked what the tone in path "B" had. They are merged by letting Path "B" run through 10% and then 90% tone "A". Here you need to have a different setting for the pre-amp because each path is different and not a copy of the other. --------------------------------- Next is a tip for those that want to: Bring a setting into farm and want it back out for XT. Well remember that XT can not handle multi effects of the same type nor duel paths so you have to merge the two if that is the case. This may not end well, you need to choose the settings that represent the best of your new pod effect in 1 path and no dulicate pedals. You can only have 1 amp too...so the challenge is to toggle back and forth and see if you can represent in a single path of what two paths were giving. note: the different settings on the sine chorus Now the track down to 1 with sign chorus settings that represent all 3 as you can only have 1 in gearbox. Here I am merging former track "B" and finally the settings on the sine chorus as best representation of having 3 Maybe line6 will make a pod that can support the duel path of effect but until then you are going to have to do this or find a way to run from a tablet or something so pod is what you use live or you just live with a good enough scenario ---------------------------------------------------- The last thing I wanted to mention was the option to use a hardware boost to simulate the tone of XT. I have not purchased yet as it will add a clean boost up to 18DB for some but will run about ~$120.then, you don't have to fake it with an EQ or preamp in POD. This would be the cleanest purest way to boost but again will require a purchase. For the purpose of this post i am showing how to do it with the tools you already have. Note for some FX you may want to make sure POD sees all your model packs or can read the FX others have made with those model packs For that those that have wondered about running through the XT with the effects bypassed, the fact is you will get some static and it will add something to the tone. You are basically reprocessing it and pod is not clean when using this was through farm via ASIO (and with input as "Send Clean guitar". It's not horrible, but expect some static and less bass or warmth IMO.Your best bet is to use GX or UX-1 and amp your tone with effects in farm. I had to do a lot of back and forth comparison, and I will not claim this is perfect but is as close as my ears could detect without having to purchase additional boosting hardware. Even if you decide to boost buy buying some hardware, it's good to know to do it in software if you need it. Hopefully this gives others some incite to tone building and porting from favorite gearbox tweaked tones you may have had. I am still playing around with PODfarm and no doubt I will discover even more, but so far are impressed with the extra options I am getting. Be nice to have it really working with XT full to make adjustments with real knobs as opposed to a mouse and arrow keys, but oh well.....like I said maybe line6 will do something in the future with a next generation POD that really works close with farm as an interface and a tone transfer for standalone.
  9. I own pod XT with all the model packs and the I have an opportunity to buy studio GX with pod farm but the the product states "hardware comes provided with a Line 6 account that has already been made with the license registered to it. You will not be able to transfer the license to another account. You will however be provided with the email that was made to use the account to ensure the account is solely yours." My question is: if my XT and model packs are under my current email and pod farm will be under the one registered to the GX, is there anyway to use my model packs with pod farm (I would be ok if my XT needed to be attached)? or because they are separate, pod farm will never see the model packs or load them? I have so many tones with the model packs and really want to use those amps in farm The activation on all these get kind of confusing. It seems if you buy a used unit its tied to it's own account for life...unless there is a way to merge? Kyle
  10. If I own a Pod XT Pro with some of the model packs (namely MS, CC, and FX Junkie), if I were to buy Pod Farm 2.5 NON-Platinum (just the regular), will those models be available to me? I'm mainly interested in the MS pack, but I'm also interested in not paying twice for one product.
  11. Pod Farm 2.56 with reaper (DAW) through Line 6 UX1 with my guitar Today for some random reason the effects of Pod Farm on my tracks are not working. The program itself opens and functions normally, and recognizes that a recorded is playing. The volume and input and output knobs are all on, and the amps and models all seem to load, yet when i play a track back or play an instrument with immediate playback, all i get is the clean, uneffected sound of the guitar. Tried reinstalling and restarting my computer and I get the same results. What gives?
  12. Hi, My Pod X3 live is being very tempermental and I believe it will die soon. However, I use POD FARM more than the X3l - in fact the pedal pretty much sits in my studio and acts as an enourmous iLok key. Because i have paid for the Pod X3 am i still allowed to use the Pod Farm? I was told yes when i bought it. If so how can I do it without the pedal being plugged in? I have the licence manager -- has that got anything to do with anything? even when i have that running it doesn't let my audio software know (if that is what it's supposed to do). I'm running Windows 7 with nuendo and wavelab
  13. Hello, Can anyone advise me on the POD Farm plug-in, my x3 Live shows all model packs and a podfarm 1 license, although I cannot seem to get POD farm to work in standalone mode when the X3 is connected, all the packs show up as installed on the splash screen then I get told that there is no compatible device connected. I have also tried the plugin from withing Ableton Suite and nothing shows up in the plugin section. Thanks for looking. Shane
  14. Version française. Deutsche Version. We have discovered that even if you've authorized your POD Farm 2 license with Line 6 License Manager, GarageBand 10 on OSX 10.9 will not allow you to use POD Farm as an AU plug-in on an audio track. The plug-in window launches showing that plug-in is not authorized. To ensure the plug-in is working as it should, we encourage you to test it on another DAW, such as Reaper, which is a free download. GarageBand 10 changes the location where the authorization files are found. However, there's a workaround to try: 1. Authorize your computer (or Hardware / L6 Device) - using License Manager 2. Start up Pod Farm (not plugin) and see that things are working okay 3. Copy the entire ~/Library/Application Support/Line 6/GuitarPort folder into: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Application Support/Line 6/GuitarPort (create that folder path as needed) NOTE: You may get a pop-up from the OS asking you to lower your security settings to use this AU. You will not be allowed to use POD Farm, or other certain plug-ins, until this settings change is made. If you continue to have issues with POD Farm 2 after trying the workaround, please contact Apple Support at the link below for assistance with configuring GarageBand's security settings to allow POD Farm 2 to be authorized: http://www.apple.com/support/contact/ Nous avons découvert même si vous avez autorisé votre licence POD Farm 2 avec le Line 6 License Manager, GarageBand 10 sur OSX 10.9 ne vous laisse pas utiliser POD Farm comme AU plugin avec une piste audio.
  15. If I saved up around £2000, and wanted to spend it all on a really high-end guitar with top of the range pickups etc, would I be wasting money if I then only used it with Pod Farm? I'm pretty happy with it now, but its hard to tell whether the limiting factor in the sounds I can get is my ~£400 RG370DXZ, with its stock Infinity pickups, or the software. Would I be better off spending less on a guitar and getting something from the Pod HD line?
  16. This is probably a stupid question but since upgrading to Farm 2.5 I can no longer control Logic's Play/stop functions with the Space Bar (Mac 10.6 and 10.8) if the focus is on Farm. This was not the case in the previous version 1.xx Thank you.
  17. I am thinking of buying one of the add-ons for my POD Farm but Line 6's prices are in US Dollars. It shouldn't be a problem buying them in GBP, right? I am just hoping it charges me the right amount. $49.99 for Metal shop, I'm hoping it charges me £30.62.
  18. I made a couple of tones that were full and sounded great then the next day I hear fizzle and everything sounds weak. I keep loading drivers and firmware thinking something has corrupted but still the same. Also is there any special way to unplug the UX2? Sometimes I has to reload drivers because they seem to get corrupted when I unplug and the system will hang.
  19. Hi, I have an X3 Live board and purchased the Platinum pack (bass, metal, classic, fx and power), along with a license to Pod Farm 2.5. When I'm in the studio mixing, I don't like having another device running unnecessarily, using up electricity, when it's only being used for a license check. Is there any way to transfer the license to my ilok 2, or do I need to pay for another license to do so? Thanks in advance!
  20. Open Letter to Line 6 Hi, would it be possible to change the "Customtone" page to allow for more tones to show up per page, maybe a button could be added to allow seeing 25/50/100/200 etc items per page or "show all items", the current settings for the page means you can only see 10 settings/Tones per page... Thank You
  21. Hey gang! I'm a relatively inexperienced user of POD Farm, and I just had a quick question regarding footswitches. For what it's worth, I'm using POD Farm 2.55 on a Windows 7 PC with the POD Studio GX. What I need is a foot pedal that can cycle through tone presets I put together in a Setlist, and I don't need it to do much else at the moment. I know the FBV Shortboard MkII is capable of this, but at the moment I'm in a bind and can't afford to spend that much. Don't get me wrong, the Shortboard looks like a wonderful product and I definitely plan to one day invest in it! However, I have a show coming up in a couple weeks that I'll be needing this pedal for, and based on my research, it looks like I'll have to go third-party for this. So, does anyone know of such a product? I'd prefer a USB footswitch in the $50 or so price range, but I'll take whatever I can get. Any input is much appreciated! Thanks a ton, guys. Hope to hear back from you soon! Thanks, Ross
  22. I am having trouble recording vocals with a condenser microphone on my Line 6 UX2. I am using a MXL 990. I checked to make sure I had the Phantom Power on. I am able to record guitars and vocals with a dynamic microphone just fine. I am very new to recording and am very confused by this. I would very much appreciate any help/tips anyone has to offer. -Aaron96
  23. I recieved a Studio UX2 for christmas and after installing I keep getting a "No Pod Farm 2 License Found" message.
  24. Whenever I play my guitar straight from Pod Farm (Pod UX2) into logic there is no problems but when I use it as an Audio Unit / Plugin it seems to have like no noise gate and come out extremely sloppy and you hear everything like slightly sliding my hand up and down the fretboard. Also if I unplug my Pod UX2 the license is not there and I can't use any pod plug ins. Thanks.
  25. I feel compelled to post my experience regarding this issue in the hopes that it may help out those of you who are struggling with this problem. It appears that in many cases it might be believed that the device is defective. The is the second time that I have experienced a disappearing, failed detection, "no authorized device" problem on a PC (Windows 7 64bit). This is the first time, after countless hours over a period of months, that I have been able to restore functionality. Though I have over 25 years of experience in IT and I would have liked to pinpoint the very specific cause of this problem, I was unable to do so. I was able to get it working again which is enough for me. I'd like to post my scenario here and urge you to try what I tried and post the results. It's possible that someone else might understand exactly what component corrupts and where it is located and how to deal with it. Line 6 developers are in the best position to analyze this and provide us with the appropriate fix or information, but so far I don't see any such information or a fix forthcoming. Most likely this problem may be the result of a few issues, one possibly being a defective device. In other cases the problem might be remedied by all the other suggestions found throughout the forum. What Line 6 support was able to provide via the forums as well as other helpful forum members did not help me. I am pretty confident that it is more of a OS and software/driver issue than a hardware issue as both the machines feature entirely different chipsets/platforms. The first incident happened about 2 years ago, the most recent occurred a few months ago. I've spent countless hours on numerous occasions reading every forum post that might address such an issue. None of the proposed solutions restored functionality to my device. The first time this happened, I literally had to re-install Windows to get it work again. Luckily on that machine I didn't have much installed at the time. In both cases, the device and software had been installed and functioning well at one point in time. At some point, however, there must have been some sort of driver or software corruption that persists despite all efforts to uninstall, reinstall, and try different USB ports and cables. The idea of a corruption that persists despite complete uninstall and reinstall attempts has been mentioned elsewhere. I have been using these Toneport/POD Farm devices for at least the past 5 years. I have grown accustomed to some of the models and really wanted to get them working again on my main rig. I have been, however, dismayed at the handful of issues that appear to crop up in the forums and elsewhere that seem never to be solved. That, however, did not deter me. In my case the POD Farm device would be detected by Windows as a USB device and seemingly function as an audio interface. However, Line 6 Monkey, the License Manager, and POD Farm Standalone would not be able to detect it as an authorized device. Because of this, not only could I not use these each of these pieces of software, but the POD Farm plug-in would fail to authorize the appropriate models, leaving me in the "trial" mode. I have used my POD Farm device on 5 different systems. These systems run Windows XP 32 bit, Windows 7 64 bit, and OS X (Lion and Mavericks). This problem I experienced on a Windows 7 64bit AMD system (HP Desktop) and an old Windows 7 64bit Intel system (ASUS P5W DH motherboard). During this recent incident, the POD Farm device and software would work on the XP machine, the other Windows 7 machine, and the two OS X machines. But it would not work on my main Windows 7 machine anymore. So I knew that this unit was functioning. Had I only one system, someone might have convinced me that I had a malfunctioning unit. As before, I tried all the commonly suggested remedies. I tried all the USB 2.0 onboard, "non-hub" ports, I tried a plethora of different cables, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software in so many different ways and with reboots in between. I installed and uninstalled previous versions of drivers, including the Gearbox and POD Farm 1 installation packs. I tried manually identifying and deleting all the files that seemed to be associated with the each install... and then more reboots in between. On more than one occasion I spent quite a bit of time manually hunting down and deleting as many registry keys as I could find. After the second attempt at this, I gave up even trying to keep track of the keys I deleted as nothing would help. I even tried many of these things in safe mode. Finally after all that I began to even try simple uninstaller utilities. Two of the most popular utilities I have used in the past failed to make a difference. This time around I had just uninstalled POD Farm 2 and installed the original Gearbox. This, needless to say, did not work again... I then began to see if there was a utility that could attempt to analyze what an installer was installing and modifying. I found a free utility called Advanced Uninstaller Pro which seemed to have the ability to monitor an installation. The idea was to use it to create a profile of the Line 6 POD Farm installation as it installed, and then use that profile to uninstall everything that the Line 6 installer added or modified. I installed the utility and the first thing I did was use it to simply uninstall the Gearbox installation (without working with the monitoring function). After it uninstalled Gearbox it asked me if I wanted it to scan the system to identify any bits left behind, which I consented to. After that was done, I then closed all miscellaneous running programs as it suggested and then had it monitor and launch the Line 6 POD Farm installer. After some time it created a profile... which then I was going to use with the software to uninstall POD Farm cleanly and completely. Before doing so, I decided to fire up Monkey and License Manager. Lo and behold it detected my device! No need to even uninstall the monitored installation! Apparently this utility was able to remove whatever corruption or invalid information that the Line 6 Uninstaller or my own manual efforts could not. It seems like a simple solution. If all this were to happen again, I have no guarantee this would work again. I'm just happy I have everything finally working on my main system. My hope is that anyone with these detection issues gives this a go and posts back with the results. Again more might be involved here but I tried everything. I have no vested interest Advanced Uninstaller Pro other than the mere fact that it was able to solve this long standing problem. Nor can I vouch for any of it's other capabilities. I had noticed that the Line 6 uninstaller left quite a bit behind after uninstalling the software. It is unfortunate that it was unable to remove whatever it installed or modified that leaves the persistent corruption in place despite numerous installs and uninstalls. If you made it through this book and have this problem, please post back to see if this indeed worked for you. Regards, K.G.
