  1. Hey guys, I bought the HD500X a couple of weeks ago and I was wondering how you use it to record your stuff? When recording, do you just run the HD500 directly to your PC/Mac using the USB connection or do you connect it to an audio interface first and then take it to your PC? In other words, do you use the HD500X as the audio interface or do you use whatever other audio interface you have as the interface in your DAW?
  2. I am extremely frustrated with this. It's so f*ckin sad when I'm playing at a gig and bam the volume goes down from nowhere. When I'm practicing at home it isn't any different, I'm playing and suddenly the volume lowers by itself. I've already reinstalled the firmware, I've done a factory reset, I've done this: "1-first I have to recommend u to update ur pod hd300 flash memory firmware to version 2 , if it is already re-install it , wont hurt 2-2nd What ur experiencing might be the act of The pod hd300 sound normalizer , which means ur channel is too loud and it reduces the volume to prevent amp overloads , so the solution is decreasing ur channel volume and increasing the overall (output) volume from the back of ur HD300 , this way u can both have a loud and un-normalized sound which is cool right" I've also tried this: ""Try this, rotate all your pots fully a dozen times, do this every now and then to keep them clear of any muck that might be getting in there. You will also notice that there is like a null area on each pot near zero and 100 percent. Once you have your settings assigned to your patches and don't need to make any adjustments while playing, you can "park" the knobs in that null area where they won't deliver a value change due to vibration."" I have tried using different sources (my amp, my friends amp, my headphones), different settings (studio/live, amp/line) I've tried different cables, nothing works. Please, help me!!
  3. After some price-drops in the last few weeks Thomann offers only the Line6 POD HD Pro X. The POD HD500x is no longer online and there is no upcoming stock information. Seems that the HD-Line is going to leave the market forever now. A pity especially after this surprising comparison… https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/ax8-headrush-helix-hd500x-shootout.1852940/ I will keep mine until it's death (and already bought a backup for 170 USD)
  4. Is it possible to plug in a Digitech MC7 midi footswitch into the midi in of the pod hd to control it? For example, I need to change presets quickly on stage and I've had this footswitch laying around. I have searched for hours on the subject and there is very little information regarding it... Thanks for any help.
  5. Hey guys, I thought I'd make this a separate post so that it's easier to find for anyone who might be having some issues. The patches for the HD500 do not import directly into the HD500X Edit software at this time. They use different file formats. There is a work-around that I posted earlier, and is being passed around now. All you have to do is change the extension on the patch files: For individual patches, change the extension from .h5e to .5xe For bundles, change the file extension from .h5b to .5xb For setlists, change the file extension from .h5s to .5xs I have found no inconsistencies among the patches from the HD500 Edit to the HD500X Edit using this method. I don't know if/when Line 6 will update the software to allow backwards compatibility, but in the mean time, you can use this method to get your 500 patches to your 500X. UPDATE: Someone else mentioned that you can drag-and-drop individual HD500 files into the tone slots in the 500X Edit software. I can confirm that this works. You will still need to change the file names for set-lists and bundles, though.
  6. Hi everybody! First, thanks for your help and excuse me for my bad english. I would like to record my Pod HD (desktop) on Cubase (8.5) but i'm not sure how to adjust the "mixer output" to have the best sound? I know i have to record on a mono track on cubase but the output of the pod is in stéréo if i'm right. So, how i have to adjust the path A and B in the mixer? Is there a difference of sound when we set the mixer ? I have to put path A 100% Left and path B 100% Right or 0% for the both or A and B 100% Left? Is there a difference if I use the amps dual mode? Thanks for your answers Shenann
  7. Hello everyone! This is the new thread dedicated to bass presets for Pod HD series. The original thread was located in the community "Long forgotten bass players", but I think it will be better here. I hope that this thread will become a place to share experiences, knowledge, and above all, our presets for bass! To start the discussion, here's my Bass Setlist for HD500 with 20 patches: HD500 Setlist V3 - "High Output Bass Amps" (16-Jan-2013) http://www.mediafire.com/?h4yta8468nawfzt How to convert Setlists: If you have a different Pod HD, you can use this tool: http://www.jzab.de/content/pod-hd All this presets are set on a "single arm chain": What you get with this Setlist is a high volume of output using a Bass, forget the messes that involved the dual input configuration, and make the pod HD works in a very similar way to how the Bass Pod worked (regarding to mono wet and dry outputs). But here you have the advantage of being able to play your bass in true stereo, too. Now you can have a balanced sound between the bass and guitar, and record comfortably in your sequencer. I left the presets configured as inputs Guitar:Same, but please, I do not want to contribute to this confusion. Using this new configuration (let's call it "single arm chain"), the input 2 has absolutely no effect on the sound (when using the config 1 mentioned below) If you want to record two mono tracks (wet and dry, panned all the way L/R), then it makes sense to use the second input as "same" (when using the config 2 mentioned below). Unmuting the Channel 2 you actually obtain a completely dry signal from your instrument. Of course you can also use a combination of both if you want to use another instrument on channel 2. But most important is to understand that in this way we have two inputs completely separated from each other without causing strange effects in the other, or interfere in any way. As I said before, for me this has been a great discovery. Thank you very much to Meambobbo. This is the structure for v3 patches: 1- Noise Gate. I'm currently using noise gates, until I learn how to use the hard gates. I'm a little slow! More details here: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/ampTone#noiseGates 2- Tube comp. Almost same settings than before. 3- Classic Distortion. Still here, for now. You could also use a wah pedal or whatever else here, if you prefer. 4- Analog Chorus. I removed the ugly delay in front of the amp, and now I have a chorus. I like this effect for bass, and I think this is the best sounding of the three possible. The Dimension and Triple chorus does not sound bad, but have far fewer parameters and are therefore less controllable. In contrast, analog chorus has many controls, a vibrato mode, a tone control, etc. For now I used a basic setting, but it sounds pretty good with the reverb. 5- Studio EQ. Still here, for now. I'm not using it much now, because I have found that it can be a specific setting for each bass you use. Maybe try a parametric EQ, but it seems much more complicated for me: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/eq 6- Mid Focus EQ. Hi and Low pass filters, now with settings 5%-65%. Gain between 0-30% 7- Spring Reverb. I used a reverb that is noticeable, but not annoying. Sounds great alongside the chorus. At least I like to use them together to have a good time. Note that when using chorus+reverb, overall volume will also rise up! I have had this in mind, so that the volume is not excessive when active. Still, if you play too hard, this could produce clip, so look first at gain settings I put into the Mid EQ. 8- FX loop. I´m using a Boss RC-300 loopstation here. About the Inputs and Mixer settings using the config above (single arm chain): Config 1: Just to play (Stereo) Input 1 - Guitar Input 2 - (Doesn´t matter, since PathB is muted.). Mixer - PathA +12 dB center, PathB Muted (panned 100%R just for convenience when using config2) Config 2: Recording (2 mono channels, Left Wet (processed), Right Dry (unprocessed, or DI) Input 2 - Guitar Input 2 - Same Mixer- PathA +12dB 100% Left, PathB +12dB 100% Right So you can: Record a stereo track selecting the stereo input, and then split the track on two separate mono tracks on your DAW. OR, arm two mono tracks on your secuencer selecting each separate mono input, and record both at the same time. Personally I like best the second approach, becouse I´m using Logic Pro, maybe in your secuencer there is an easier or practical way to do the first one.
  8. Hi I think I may have a faulty ac adapter for my Pod HD Bean. Anybody know where I can get a replacement, or if there is an alternative? I live in Australia by the way, so I need something suited for my region (PAL) Thanks! :)
  9. Would there be any problem in connecting a bass to the desktop pod hd and sounded by a vst plugin like ampeg? It can be damaged? Thanks!!
  10. Hey guys, Two questions :) using the metalpack and since that time, i don't know how I shall deal with the Peavy. It's a great amp but so much bass is going on there. I use the amp in combination with the XXL-V30 cab. So the result is a aggressive tone with lot of bass. Normally, reducing the "boomy-spot" with a parametric-eq has always work (got it from MeAmBobbo's gudie). Also cutting 700Hz, making some room for drums with cutting 220Hz, 440Hz (graphic eq) works well. You can also use the screamer in front of the amp to clean up the tone but...this time...these eq's (220Hz, 440Hz, 700Hz) will destroy the tone and the parametric-eq works only a little bit. Normally, I try to create rhythm-patches for modern progressive metal (aiming for a distorted tone with mids which have dynamics and you can play also big 6-string chords). Cutting the bass much on the amp makes him a knife. Maybe someone knows to handle that beast or has some good tips? The second question is: Does someone know an amp on the POD HD which tone is similar or less similar to the Friedman BE 100? Try to create some lead-patches (smooth, reverb and without for reverb) to cover some parts of "Intervalls: The Shape of Colour". I thank you in advance :)
  11. I'm trying to use midi triggers with my POD HD bean. like at a certain time it'll go to a certain effect. is this available with the bean? i read about gearbox. i need more help...
  12. Hello, I recently purchased a POD HD bean and the FBV MKII shotboard. I was wondering what tone patches it is compatible with? XT,X3,HD,HD 300/400/500, X Series?

  14. Hi all, I have been searching for an answer to this but couldn't find one. My apologies if this has been posted before. I would like to purchase a POD HD 500x/ POD HD Pro X, or Helix. I am purely a bass player. Can the bass expansion pack with 28 amps and 22 cabs be used with any of these products. As a bass player this would be phenominal. If it cant be used now, are there any plans to make them available for any of these products in the future? I am happy to purchase now if it is certain that these models/ sounds will be available in the future. Cheers. Please say yes ;-)
  15. Hello and thank you in advance for your help. :) I currently have my POD HD500X connected to my firewire digital interface via SP/DIF, and everything is sounding amazing. I can record to my DAW and everything sounds exactly same as headphones direct from the Pod. What I am Trying to do: I would life to record via SP/DIF, but also use my computer to edit my tones via USB. Problem: when I plug in the USB cable from my computer to the POD HD, the audio from the sp/dif shutoff, when I unplug the USB cable the audio starts working again. I am not sure if this is normal or not. I have have read both that it should work, and should not work. Is this actually possible? Is there a setting in the computer or POD HD that I should be looking at? Thanks You, Matt B.

  18. I am having latency issues with my newly acquired POD HD. I have it connected to my UX1, which I have been using as my audio interface, which sends the audio out to my monitors. When using direct monitoring, the latency is very noticeable, I can't record well with it. I've already set the buffer size the extra small, but this didn't help. How can I resolve this? I have never had any latency issues using the UX1 and POD Farm before...
  19. Hi, Was wondering whether anyone has had any problems with sound dropping out while using a pod hd500? Sometimes, and intermittently, I will be playing and the volume just disappears. If I switch patch it comes back but on a few occasions it hasn't. I thought it was to do with the exp pedal at first so I removed this from the signal chain but it is still happening. It's really annoying as it's not all the time and I can't tell when or why it's happening. I only use this pedal while onstage (no amp) so when it goes I'm left looking like a fool. I found turning it off and on again works but I can't be doing this every night. Any ideas would be greatly received. Cheers
  20. Sometimes I wake up at night and ask myself some stupid questions. Here is one of them: "What is the reason for red LEDs on footswitches Bank up/down?" I mean… in what case do they lit up? As a guitarist and singer I am often unsure if I will hit the bank-switches or FS1 and FS5 while playing. Sometimes I accidently kick the bank-switches but wanted the FS. Why didn't they gave them a blue LED-ring to separate the bank-switches from footswitches? Same on the looper and tap
  21. I am about to purchase a POD HD500X. Currently I'm using a couple of stomps like blues driver, phase 90, DD-20 and etc. Specially I want to know about delay settings. Are they easy to set and am I capable of setting delay times with musical signs (like DD-20 Giga delay)?
  22. Hi. Is there a list of default cabs per simulated amp? I am working on an extended overview of the HD Model Packs List. If this information is not available I would go through the amps on the HD and write it down.
  23. hi me and my other guitarist both run orange 4x12's at 16 ohms we also both run pod hd pro x's and are looking for a rackmount power amp that can run the two pods into the two 16 ohm cabs. we are unsure if there is even a power amp that can do this surely there is
  24. I was going over some of the ideas on ideascale and came across a request for Variax wireless solution. I think that is an awesome idea and definitely needed for JTV's to be fully embraced by the professional performers, especially on the bigger stages. Interestingly, I also saw this link discussing an actual Line 6 unpublished feature built in to the Vetta II. Apparently they enabled a wireless variax feature during one of the firmware upgrades that enabled the Vetta to make Variax changes over wireless. It wasn't a complete 2 way communication solution but it certainly opened the door and showed that Line 6 themselves were at one point working it. Why on earth they haven't exploited that ability with the POD HD series is just beyond me. Anyway, here is the link to the Vetta info. If you think its a good idea go over to ideascale and vote it up... http://vettaville.nl/pagmore.php?id=166 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Wireless-VDI/490019-23508#comments
  25. Can i export a bundle, setlist, or individual tones from Pod HD Pro Edit and import it into the Helix Editor? I realize that the sounds will probably change somewhat. I've done quite a bit of custom midi settings and would like to keep my presets if possible.
