  1. I have a POD HD PRO X and now that I have a tone I'm happy with, I want to run it into a cab. I understand that I need a power amp to do so, and I understand that I use the effects out and in to connect the pod with the power and I use the Pod's own line out into the amp, but how do I control the amp's Ohm impedance so that it matches the cab?
  2. I've crafted a tone on my hd500x while running it through a power amp and cab. The tone sounds really crisp, tight and nearly devoid of noise. However when I run the same preset through my headphones it sounds really high in treble and isn't as clear as when I run it through my PA and Cab combo. What I'm asking is how to fix the problem as it translates to when I'm recording as well and why it's happening as I'm utterly clueless on this.
  3. I have a Pod X3 Live which I am using to record guitar. My Setup is Guitar > X3 Live > XLR outs > XLR IN on a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. The thing is I'm having trouble finding the correct setting for the XLR ins on the Scarlett. The Scarlett has an instrument/line switch for each of it's XLR inputs. So I guess my question is, are the XLR outs on the Pod X3 live line level or instrument level? Currently I have the Scarlett set to line level and it sounds fine but if there is a possibility for improvement I would like to know. Thanks
  4. Hi, I'm hoping to user a Voodoo Lab Commander to control the HD500x via MIDI, but the Commander requires getting it's power from the 5 pin MIDI connection. Is there any way to get power out from the HD500x or an adapter cable maybe? Thanks! SSG
  5. Hi guys, i'm new here, and i have a nice question.. let's start from the begin, actually i record using my pod hd500 + Scarlett 2i2 + Cubase 5 (on windows 7), i use the pod hd500 xlr out into the xlr in of my scarlett 2i2, do you think it's possible to record using the direct usb connection of the pod and the Scarlett 2i2 (which is connected to my studio monitors) to monitor everything? (usually i don't need to monitor my guitar by the audio interface cause i use the l/mono out of the pod into my amp for that, but i need to listen to the backing track!) On cubase i can do this only using the generic asio drivers but i have a very big latency, it's impossible to work in that way! I want to record using the direct usb because the signal is more clear and with high fidelity... Any ideas?? :)
  6. I really like the simplicity of multieffects from a cable and setup stand point so I am not a big fan of external pedals. However, this looks like the one pedal I might actually have to get... http://mybeatbuddy.com/ Seriously, a drummer in a pedal? Brilliant... What is the one pedal you are really thinking about getting?
  7. ok so here is a patch I made for FRFR setups using a pair of awesome Dr Z's with different cabs and mics. A little Tube Compressor out front, slight delay on one amp, Digital Delay on FS3, Analog Chorus on FS2 and Chandler Tube Drive on FS1 for a nice dirt boost. No need to load a bunch of EQ's, this just sounds full and rich as is. It's setup for a Variax with the single input method but if you are using a regular guitar you may want to change input 2 to Variax. I loaded arislaf's excellent Telecaster bundle and there is a great range of tones to be had there. Great work arislaf! Running my JTV-69 through a Rocktron Velocity 300 into a pair of passive Peavey 15" PA speakers just for your reference. Give it a whirl and then share your favorite Dr Z patch... http://line6.com/customtone/tone/276315/ feedback welcome...
  8. Hi i need opinions of this PA Alto SXM112A, for the pod hd 500, is worth or not? i play in church trough mixers and line array systems so for monitoring i use a small acoustic amp, sounds good but not have the same tone of the line array. So i need opinions somebody?
  9. Ok, so the FX loop send is stereo and it says use a TRS plug. But what if I want to send a mono signal out? Do I need a TRS adapter to get both channels to go out? If I use a mono plug, does it sum to mono for me or will I only be sending one channel? I can't find any documentation on it so if anyone knows for sure, I appreciate the help...
  10. hello I am a user of Korea. Ask my POD HD is spoiled Do not turn on the power response. Let's have recently purchased because he is suspected of mulgeo Repair center in Korea requires expensive repairs Screen stops, no response. Similar cases, and that the solution please tell I used a translator. Please understand this awkward sentence POD.bmp
  11. Hi all, Not sure if this is the right place to put this topic, however am going to try and do it anyway. I have a question and a request. I will start with my Question... I have the Standard version of POD Farm 2.5, was contemplating upgrading to Platinum but for $199.00 all I seem to really be getting is the two model packs I am missing. Am I missing something here? Now for my request, I am really only looking for the following two model packs; Classics and Metal Shop and was wondering if there were some Line 6 users out there who were willing to sell/transfer their license to me at a reduced cost? I am currently looking at the two power pack and both would currently run me $100. Anyone??? Thanks in advance... Mike
  12. Hello! From what I've researched and tried out at Guitar Center, I believe I am prepared to purchase a POD HD500X! There are just a few questions that I have that I haven't been able to find an answer for by just searching. 1) From my past use of the old TonePort GX w/Gearbox, I used an amp called Line 6 Big Bottom, which was available in the Metal Shop amp pack for $50. When I was looking through the list of amps on the HD500X overview, I noticed it wasn't on there. Does this mean that I either have to buy the Metal Shop pack again, it is renamed or replaced on the 500X, or is just gone? This is important as that amp model gave me my favorite tone (I play progressive metal). 2) When I get this, would I have to play it through an amp or PA speaker? All I have are computer speakers that don't sound too bad. Also I don't own an amplifier (unless you consider a crappy little 15 watt Epiphone amp from my starter kit 8 years ago to be alright to use). 3) As I stated previously, I used to have a TonePort GX. Would Gearbox files (.l6t) be compatible for use with the 500X? I have a few of these files saved on a flash drive that I really liked and would love to use live or in studio. Thanks!
  13. In the morning i just turned on the POD to play with my guitar for a bit and there was no heavy sound.I usually use my own and saved presets and it wasnt distorted.Sounded more like low volume overdrive.Really lollipopy sound.First i thought i was my guitar's active pickup battery. It wasnt.I changed cables i flashed the pod's memory and put it back on and nothing happend. Is there any explanation about what happened with it or what might cause the problem? Thank you in advance!
  14. Anyone have an update on whether there is anything planned for Ipad or tablet? I don't know how Line 6 feels but the abilty to run on a tablet from a mic stand is something I have waited for since purchasing the POD. A alaptop is just too bulky for a gig.
  15. I had a hard time with acoustic from the DT but I came up with a solution that seems to work well. This patch works amazing with my DT25 head, 2X12 sealed cab with Celestion V30s and it should work fine with any other DT setup. It may not be perfect but it works with all 5 acoustic models. This setup provides the clean, unprocessed guitar signal from the Variax straight to the DT power section without ANY amp sims... I put a flip top in channel A, centered the mixers and then mute channel A. You can use any amp model in channel A, it is just a placeholder. I use it for low DSP. We are not running through the flip top at all. We are only using it to "lock" the DT from switching to the amp in channel B and to control the physical topology. By placing no amp in channel B and muting channel A in the POD we effectively send the clean "unamped" acoustic guitar signal straight to the DT power section through channel B! I set the topology to III in HDEdit and it just gets that nice sort of resonance you would expect from an acoustic. We also have to change the input to Variax-Same to ensure that our signal is passed to channel B. You may have to turn up the mixer levels for volume matching and add an EQ for tone shaping. I use a reverb in the chain too. I also use this setup for synth tones through the DT. Place all your synth and FX blocks in the B path or the post mixer and you will get the pure synth without the amp coloring just like with a FRFR solution. Here is a link to a set list with a couple of variations of this concept... try it out and give me some feedback if you like the idea or not... http://share.cx.com/yGRXwV
  16. Hey fellas, I've had a HD500X ever since they came out, and I love it. If you have an older model POD, you should seriously consider the upgrade. Anyway I have a few questions, hopefully some of you guys can help me out here.. Recording: I have a Macbook and I'm using an old version of Garageband from like, '09. I plugged in my acoustic to record Here Comes The Sun, and post it on Facebook. WOW! It sounded fantastic! Everyone asked me to do another cover and so I thought, ah, what the heck? Sure thing... I plugged in my LP, and switched it over to the assigned switches and played without doing a sound check. (Stupid) Five minutes later I'm playing it back, and it sounds like absolute crap! I was in shock compared to the acoustic! It is majorly distorted! Even on a clean assign, with or without an amp model. Long story long, what recording software are you guys using? I'd like to keep it under $150, and it has to be Mac compatible. (This is why I hate you, Mac) I have 2gb of Ram so any older versions of Logic, are kind of out of the question. (Logic demands to much for my old hunk of junk)... Second thing: I'm planning on doing a small little guitar session at my school. Play along with the art teacher who plays piano and do a cover of, Let It Be. Our school stage has imbedded XLR inputs on the stage, and then that runs straight to the sound system amplifier, then to the speakers. Now, I'm no technical advance kind of guy when it comes to stuff like this. It's all new to me. Even though I know computers like the back of my hand. I see on the back of the 500X that it's got two, what appears to be XLR, even though it says Balanced Left and Right. What I'm trying to do is just get the sound from my pod straight to those XLR inputs in the stage. Any ideas of what cable I would need? I feel like a 1/4 inch to an XLR would work, but what would those balanced be used for? (future reference) Thanks Guys.
  17. I use Gearbox 3.72 to practice in home. In this version there is a preset/tone called 'Lux Verb Chorus. In my current equipment to play live (Zoom 3000) I can not reproduce the simulations and the effects of this preset. I'm thinking of changing this Zoom by a POD HD. Is there any way to transfer this preset for the POD HD? Or, is there any preset in POD HD that is equal to 'Lux Verb Chorus? Thank You!
  18. Hey, Just bought a POD X3 Live from a friend, he said his POD worked with the Monkey program. I have tried just about everything, but windows 7 doesn't recognize the pod, and Line6 monkey/gearbox say its not plugged in. Do I have to put the device in usb mode or something, what am I doing wrong. I really don't want to have to get my money back from this guy, this device is pretty cool... Thanks, godbless. Device: POD X3 LIVE OS: WIN7 64 BIT CPU: I5 3570 (3.8GHZ) GPU: HD 7750 RAM: 8GB 1600MHZ HD: 500GB, 250GB, 160GB
  19. good evening. as in object: could somebody tell surely what's the impedance at POD XT headphones plug? i have a 32 Ohms set and the sound quality is horrible, so I'd need to build an impedance corrector cable and to know precise values to do that. thanx, bye
  20. Good day ! I seem to be having a problem when I play distorted and I have no idea if it's from the pod or my guitar . When I play distorted , I seem to be having a second distortion "behind" the distortion of the amp . It's a bright distortion , not loud but noticeable , and it sounds like when you have a slightly broken speaker that gives a crackling sound at certain frequencies. It's not because of my speakers , I recorded the sound and listened to it through different speakers and headphones . So it's either from the guitar or from the POD . It appeared out of the blue , after the last update but it turned up after a few days ( or I didn't notice it before ) Can anyone give me any advice ? Has anyone ever had this problem ? It's not from the jack input ... I took it out , all the wires are soldered , I cleaned it ... Thank you !
  21. Any suggestions on how I can get a BIG sound with my POD HD desktop 2 amps? Mixer settings? Chorus effects? etc.... Thanks!

While I really think this is a let down for most of us it probably is a big move up for a lot of beginning musicians and hobbyists. The price point is kept low by pushing a lot of the interface and system management off board to the user's own iGear. They also kept DSP needs low by using older modeling and saved more by not integrating a host of in/out options, no D/A or A/D conversions, etc. Trouble is that while this incarnation is disappointing, the concept has a lot of potential and I would not be surprised to see a professional version in the future. Same power section and speaker/cab options but with HD modeling as per the DT, the acoustic resonance DSP from the L2/3 series, M Series effects, professional in/out (XLR, 1/4, L6 link, VDI) and FX Loop. Manage all your patches and set lists from your iGear (or Droid hopefully) and everything cloud sourced. So where the DT was the perfect tube match for the POD HD, AMPLIFI HD would be the perfect stereo FR/FR match in a portable combo size package. If you need your pedals, bring your POD or floorboard with you too. L6 link could still allow you to expand by adding an L2/3 or sending a perfect feed to the Dream Stage. No reason the same cloud sourcing couldn't tone match for HD models too. Then you seriously could just grab your JTV and this one box, plug right in and be good to go. Great solution for solo gigs with backing tracks. Of course everything comes at a price. My guess is AMPLIFI HD150 comes in around $1200 and a $100 less for the AMPLIFI HD75. Anyone interested? :)
