Pod Farm (ux2) Has Muffled, Dark Sound?
MichaelFJ posted a topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
I got POD Farm a while ago with my UX2, but it has always had a bad sound. It sounds like it's being played through one of those little 9V-battery-powered amps, rather than a professional, high quality amp, even when the volume is turned up. No matter how much I turn up the gain (I've even boosted my treble to the max and cut the low-mids out), it still sounds like it's muffled, and it sounds really bad. Even when I plug the cable into it and it makes the buzzing sound that usually happens, even that sounds muffled. It sounds like I'm plugging it into a $15 interface rather than a professional guitar amplifier. NOTICE: I play different songs on YouTube that have the same settings as I use, and the songs I listen to there have a high-quality tone. So I'm almost certain it's not the speakers. HERE IS MY EQUIPMENT: -MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.8.5) PROCESSOR: 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MEMORY:3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM -Creative Inspire T3300 Speakers (They have a 1/8" input jack that I connect to the "headphones" input on the UX2 using an adapter) -High-quality guitar cable -Agile Interceptor Pro 930 with 30" scale and active pickups -This guitar is HIGH-QUALITY and has a very bright tone, and it should have one on POD Farm, but it doesn't. Is there a reason for the tone sounding really bad? Are there settings on my computer or something that I can change? OR could I upgrade my sound card? -
Good day , The title is not really the most appropriate ...but I didn't know how to call my problem , so allow me to explain . I connect my POD HD to the PC via USB and use it as an external sound card , I use it with my DAW to record . I set up my effects on the POD HD and my signal , with effects and all , is fed into the DAW . To the before-mentioned signal , I add effects directly from the DAW and I want to hear the sound in REAL TIME as I am playing . But when I want to hear it in real time , I hear the signal doubled : The RAW SIGNAL that is fed into the DAW from my POD HD and the RAW SIGNAL + DAW EFFECTS both come back through my headphones or speakers. Is there a way to mute this RAW SIGNAL , so I could hear only the signal that comes back from the DAW ?

Today, I have read several threads of people having what I perceive as genuine quality issues with their Line6 gear, including: - Howling headphone outputs - Footswitch issues - Firmware failures In my own world: - my POD HD500 indeed has an F3 footswtich that acts dodgy as hell and won't do what I assigned it to do much of the time. - I can assign FS2 to a volume pedal function, but it won't "take" and refuses to use anything but FS1 until I save the new preset and come back to it to change it after I go to any other preset. Then, it seems to work most of the time, but nbot always. - Last night, my brand new (October 2012) JTV59 developed a problem where the magnetic pickup selector switch (no modelling invloved) in the up (Neck) poitision went wonky and screached with static. While fiddling about with it, i noticed that moving the guitar to a resting on my lap position (resulting in a slight bump) caused it to fix itself for s short time. More movement produced intermittent cut outs. Troubleshot it to a loose connection inside the guitar somewhere (most likely) and even with my strong electronics background, I would sooner traverse razor wire than to open this thing up and try to sort that sure to be rat's nest all out. I guess what I am getting at is this; Since Yamaha just acquired Line6, as a person who works in business I know this acquisition likely took months to work through, so I wonder did quality slip while everyone at Line6 dotted their i's and crossed their t's in prep for the big day of announcement? I have to say that overall I am not too thrilled with the quality of what I have anyway, from a hardware and firmware standpoint. It's all well and good to spend $1500 buying two pieceds of gear that are supposed to effectly replace dozens of guitars, amps and effects UNTIL it ceases to work properly. At that point things change for me. Thoughts from the community on this?

So yesterday everything was working fine or rather this morning around 2am EST Now it is around 4pm est and i plugged up my guitar i usually ALWAYS keep my kb37 plugged into my laptop and never have had a problem I noticed my guitar was making a poping sound automaticly thinking it was the wires in the input where you connect the wire to your guitar i unscrewed it and checked it out. Unsure i put it all back together and tried another guitar and it did the same thing. So i thought it was the wires i have 3 wires and tried all 3 and the same thing happened for everything knowing it couldnt be the wires as 2 of the wires I Have never used with the Kb37 or never touched since i got them there could be nothing wrong with them as one of them was fairly new When playing i experience a popping or click noise every few seconds, then a drop out of sound like it had lost connection to my pc but it didn't. Clip lights never flashed or turned on. I assume its either the pod of my pc. my pc is going through some issues right now thinking that it could be the case but im not sure. *Issues with pc include ***stuck on "Waiting for page ()" sometimes having to shut down*** now also note that this does not happen when i use my kb37 as a sound card for my pc to say listen to music with speaker monitors i do not have drop outs. Only while using my guitar and PODfarm2 *Edit I've notice through songs i can hear the same pop sound but no drop outs.

Hello Recently I got a POD HD300 and I can't seem to get ahold of a decent tone for my 6string baritone tuned to Drop E. It's really muddy and undefined,I want a more digital tone, similar to Meshuggah-Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza-Periphery etc. I have a .85 for a low E with on a 27,2'' with an EMG 81. A good example of what I'm after(or similar) is this https://soundcloud.com/thelivingdoorway/frederipoff-thordendal Any preset/info will be gladly appreciated. Thanks a ton and happy new year John

¿Qué recomendación me harÃan?

I recently bought a Pod 2.0. I went to check some info on it and noticed that it disappeared from Musician's Friend's multi-effects, and on several other websites (zzounds, AMS, Best Buy) it is marked as no longer being available. Did it get discontinued? If so, I must have gotten one of the last ones.

I searched for many patches which I did not find in customtone. I am starting this topic so that many of the POD HD400 user can benefit. You can request for the HD400 patches here.

Hey all, I usually only use my PODs for home recording but I've been considering using my HD300 live as a multi effects unit. I'm not interested in using the amp models live since I'm quite satisfied with and like the sound of my amp. If I'm not mistaken the HD300 has a "pedal board mode." I've also been wondering if this board would be capable of operating my amp's midi channel switching. It would basically be like using the pod like a GLab gsc only there would be no stomp boxes as the pod has all the effects. Anyone tried something like this?

Hey guys, this is my first post in the forum. Right now I'm using a Gibson Les Paul with my HD500, using headphones. The sound is OK, but I'm looking to buy an amplifier. I'm considering buying a DT25 combo, but before I do, I have a couple questions. 1. Firstly, I have ran out of DSP a lot on my HD500, mainly because I use dual amp configurations. What I am wondering is if I can still use two amp paths with two different (pre) amps modelled on my HD500, and have the DT25 combo output both amps (both paths) in only one speaker (I will be using the combo amp). Another thing that I'd like to know in relation to this is whether or not using the HD500 in conjuncton with the DT25 will free up DSP. I heard that (since the 2.0 update), the DT25 models the pre amp instead of the HD500. Is this true? Will it model both of my pre amps, allowing DSP usage to drop on the HD500? 2. Secondly, I am wondering which cable to purhase to use with L6 link. I understand that Line 6 reccomend an AES/EBU type cable over everything else. However I also see that they recommend a Classic Series Microphone Cable by Planet Waves, which as far as I'm aware doesn't appear to be an AES/EBU type cable. I live in New Zealand, so I cannot purchase brands such as Mogami, in fact the only AES/EBU cable that is stocked in my local store is a HOSA AES/EBU cable. Would you reccoment this as a good cable? http://www.rockshop.co.nz/shop/recording/hosa-ebu003-aes-ebu-cable-3ft.html Also, I assume that 3ft is too short.... Thanks so much in advance, and any other tips in realtion to the DT25, such as upkeep and tone tricks will be greatly appreciated! I will be entirely new to valve amps. Nick.

Hey guys, i'm in serious need of some better sound. I want to get a 4x12 cabinet, i have been looking at something like the Line 6 412VS so i can finally use the stereo capabilities of my POD HD... Just wondering, can i plug it straight into the cabinet and have it work? Or will i need a Stereo Poweramp or something?

Hi, I am trying to control the presets/expression pedals on POD HD 500 from my PC DAW. I just bought a USB to MIDI cable that works perfect with one of my MIDI keyboards. However, when I send a message (maybe a wrong message, but nevertheless) to 51 port of POD HD 500, which is supposed to be FS1, it definitely switches the FS1 on, but then hangs the POD completely so that it is not operational - no buttons work, nothing is responsive. Is that normal? Cheers, Sergey

Hello, I have a guitar ESP eclipse II with active pickups and I use Pod XT Live as audio interface. The signal handle on the outlet is set to maximum but not clipped. During the recording a guitar rhythm doesn't cause any problems, but when I'm recording solo, outlet sound comes out very quietly, approximately -15 db. How to amplify the level of a sound? Previously I had Tone Port and used Pod Farm, which has a button "+18 db", I pressed the button and outlet sound became amplified (louder). Then I was recording solo and at the end I just turned off the button and kept recording in a usual mode. How can I amplify the outlet sound? The Pod Farm doesn't recognize XT Live, although the drivers are installed, why is that? And could Pod XT Live and Pod Farm be combined? I record through a real-time sequencer. And originally it's a clear signal recorded to make re-amping afterwards.

Just bought a pod hd pro and am trying to connect it to my 5150 head. Anyone know the best way to go about this by just using the power from the head and not the pre amp? Also what is the most convenient way to setup a footswitch with the pod hd pro (not the 500). Im not completely anal with tone or studio at the moment. So if getting the 500 is not too much a backstep would that be most convenient for live purposes?

Hey everyone, So I'm trying to use Cubase to automate patch changes within my POD 2.0 basically so that when I record the guitar effects will change according to what is programmed. I've already been able to get Line 6 Monkey and the Line 6 Editor to work with the POD 2.0 via midi. I've followed the tutorial posted here to the best of my ability substituting the POD 2.0 for the Axe-Fx and I've gotten down to the part with the In-Line Editor. http://stratamania.wordpress.com/ Would someone be able to tell me if this is the correct procedure and if the POD 2.0 can actually be automated by Cubase? Also the other problem I'm having is figuring out what the program numbers are and where I can find them. Would someone be able to tell me how to do that? Thanks in advance!!

I have a POD HD Pro and recently acquired an ADA MP-1 preamp,. I have the MP1 in the FX loop of the Pod, and it's working quite well. I just ordered a midi cable. The ADA is a Midi preamp. Is it possible to set up MIDI to change the ADA preset based on my pod patches? So pod patch 1A the ADA is on preset 1, Pod patch 1b the ADa is on preset 2, etc? Would love some tips on how to do this if possible, but i'll also take "it's possible, read the manual" if anyone knows it can be done - thanks!

Hello there, I bought a POD studio UX1 a few years ago and as far as i can remember it used to work fine. I decided to start using it again yesterday but found that i cant because; The LED doesnt light up at all when it is plugged in the UX1 is not recognised and is listed as an 'unknown' device I feel i have tried everything, i have; uninstalled and re-downloaded/installed all relevant software multiple times, I have gone and bought a new USB cable which does exactly the same thing I have checked all USB ports in my laptop and they work perfectly with all other devices I have done the obvious such as restarting the laptop and waiting for a while.. The only other coclusion i can think of is that the UX1 is faulty, but i cant see why as its been looked after and barely ever used. I would also like to mension that when i plug the USB cable in, it does make a sound, not the 'da ding', a USB device should make, it makes a 'dung dung' sound, not the 'di dong' one when you unplug a device. thats the only way i can describe it, and that also means the cable should be working. I am also running on Windows 7. Somebody please have a solution to this because i was really looking forward to actually using my UX1 Thanks

I'm a singer and guitar player; I've been using Line 6 POD since 2004, I also have a variax 500, and I love it sound and signal flexibility but it's not so flexible in hadrwere desing, like all multi-FX in market: I like to press the switch of my pod with my left foot and use the expresion pedal with my right foot but I can't do that because it is merge together, so I have to put my pod in the right or left side of my microphone stand. If you desing a modular pod, with a separate expresion pedal I'll be able to: Left the expresion pedal at home, if I don't need it. The pod will be more handable and more easy to carry and find a case. The HD 500 it's very large. Put my pod on desk and put the expresion pedal on the floor. Set a better disposition of POD on stage. I usually perform my music in little stages

Français Deutsch The Line 6 Guitar Amp within Reason can only handle single tone presets, there is no way to load a POD Farm 2 Dual Tone preset into a single Line 6 Guitar Amp device. However, if you were to split the Dual tones and save each tone as its own individual preset, you can load each preset into it's own Line 6 Guitar Amp within Reason and put then together using a Combinator device with mixer. Just select a Dual Tone you would like to use within the Standalone version of POD Farm 2 and click the 'DUAL' button to the right of the preset name at the top of the window and select 'Remove TONE B' first, then, select FILE>SAVE AS... to save the new single preset with 'Tone A' added at the end of the preset name. Next, reload the original Dual Tone, click the 'DUAL' button once again and select 'Remove TONE A', then select FILE>SAVE AS... to save this single tone preset with 'Tone B' added at the end of the preset name. Now, within Reason, you can create a Combinator, then a Mixer, and 2 Line 6 Guitar Amp devices, each with one of these new presets loaded into the device (Tone A in one, Tone B in the other), and summed together again with another mixer.

I use my Bass Pod XT live as a guitar preamp by the DI output for my EMU 1212m, it works just fine. But I also want to use the same Bass POD XT as a MIDI controller. But as soon as I plug in the USB into the Bass POD XT, the DI output turns into model output. I know it works like that with the headphone but hre there's just no way there's a common wiring between the USB and the DI output. Any way I set the thing within the control panel, it only affects the sound for (and of) the computer, not the outputs. a.) is this normal? b.) If so, why? There's no reason why USB should affect the outputs. It doesn't turn the bass pod xt into a stereo soundcard or anything. c.) Is there any way I can get the unprocessed sound through the DI output while using the pod as a MIDI controller without unplugging the POD from the USB (so neither Bypass nor a 5-pole MIDI cable is a solution)? Thanks in advance.
