  1. On both Mac and Windows computers with a vertical screen resolution of 800 pixels or less, the Dock or Taskbar may partially obscure the bottom of the POD HD 300/400/500X/500 Edit software which is used to display the 'No Hardware' message. A workaround is to set the Dock or Taskbar to Auto-Hide. Mac:? Click on the Apple icon at the top left of the screen, then, select Dock>Turn Hiding On. Windows:? Right-click the Taskbar and select 'Properties.'? In the window that pops up, check the box for 'Auto-hide the taskbar,' then hit Apply, and Ok.
  2. Installing POD Farm 1 after installing POD Farm 2 can corrupt the POD Farm system files. This will cause all versions of POD Farm 1 and 2 not function correctly. The workaround is to uninstall both versions of POD Farm 1 and 2, and then install POD Farm 1 first then POD Farm 2 afterwards.
  3. Deutsch Français 1. No Audio Input/Output from POD Farm 2.5 Standalone using a Line 6 Audio Interface This was a problem with POD Farm 2.50 that was fixed in 2.51. Windows Completely uninstall POD Farm 2.50, then, download and install POD Farm 2.55 from the Line 6 downloads page. [*]Mac Completely uninstall POD Farm 2.50 following the removal instructions below in problem 2. Then, download and install POD Farm 2.55 from the Line 6 downloads page. 2. If you are experiencing the following symptoms on a Mac computer: POD Farm 2.5x standalone and/or plug-in not authorized on Mac. POD Farm 2.5x crashes in standalone mode when Changing presets. Pro Tools crash when instantiating POD Farm 2.5x plug-in to a track or changing presets in plug-in. POD Farm 2.5x plug-in settings are not retained in Pro Tools project after saving, closing, then, re-opening project. Please try the following: Close all open programs out, go to the Mac HD/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Line 6 folder. If you are on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.x and 10.8.x, the Library folder is hidden. To 'unhide' this folder, you must first run the terminal program located in the Applications/Utilities folder. Once Terminal is running, at the command prompt, type the following: chflags nohidden /Users/Username/Library *The username is the username of your computer which has the house icon under Places [*]Hit enter. There will be no indication that anything happend except for a new command prompt if it worked. [*]With the Library folder now visible, go to: Mac HD/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Line 6 folder [*]CTRL+Click on that Line 6 folder in that location folder and select GET INFO. Check the permissions at the bottom of GET INFO, and check to see if they are set to READ ONLY. If so, manually change the permissions to Read & Write. [*]Then, run License Manager and just sign in with your Line 6 username. [*]After signing in, the Line 6 folder in the above location should be populated with new items such as a Guitarport and License Manager folders, and a L6system file. [*]Then, close out License Manager and test POD Farm 2.55 standalone or plug-in within your DAW once again. 3. Amp Models no longer available in POD Farm 2.0 or older after installing POD Farm 2.5x This was a problem with POD Farm 2.50 that was fixed in 2.51. Windows: Completely uninstall both POD Farm 1 and POD Farm 2 using the Line 6 Uninstaller within Programs/Line 6/Tools folder. Download and re-install POD Farm 2.55 from the Line 6 website. If you must also have POD Farm 1 on that computer as well, make sure to install POD Farm 1.12 BEFORE installing POD Farm 2.55 on your system. [*]Mac: Throw away all versions of POD Farm 1 or 2 applications to the trash from the Applications/Line6 folder. Manually search in the following locations and delete any of the files found from within each of these folders: Library/Audio/Plugin-Ins/Components Library/Audio/Plugin-Ins/VST Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers Library/Frameworks (look for L6WXTG and L6WXTY.framework and delete them) Library/Application Support/Line 6 Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins (Username)/Library/Application Support/Line 6 Applications/Line 6 User/Documents/Line 6 User/Library/Preferences (Line6 preferences, should be something like com.line6.xxxxx, etc. Delete.) Empty the Trash. Next, go into Applications/Utilities and launch the Terminal application and type the following commands at the prompt: cd // (then press the enter key) cd /private/var/db/receipts (then press the enter key) sudo rm -i com.line6* (then press the enter key) Enter your Mac OSX account password. Note: you will NOT see the cursor acknowledge any characters being input; you will need to type your system password correctly and hit "Enter"! Type Yes to every option/question to remove Line 6 software components (there will be a good number of confirmations, FYI). Download and install POD Farm 2.55 from the Line 6 website. 4. RTAS Plug-ins Not Loading after POD Farm 2.5 Instantiation An error message pops up at startup with the following: Pro Tools could not load the following plug-ins either because no valid authorization could be found, the iLok key was not connected or the plug-in was damaged. It also lists the POD Farm 2 and POD Farm Elements plug-ins below the message. This is a Windows-based problem and seems to be an issue if Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable is not updated or installed properly on the computer system. Using Windows Update to install/update Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable so that POD Farm 2.5 can have access to the libraries it needs to run correctly usually fixes the problem. 5. Incorrect Graphics/GUI in POD Farm 2.5x plug-in If you are using a Custom Plug-in folder location for your DAW, make sure to delete the old POD Farm 2 and POD Farm Elements plug-in files from that location, and move the new POD Farm 2.55 plug-in files to that same location. On Windows XP, these new files are located in: C:\Program Files\Line6\POD Farm 2\VST\Line 6 On Windows Vista/7, they are located in: C:\Program Files(x86)\Line6\POD Farm 2\VST\Line 6 On Mac OS X, AU files are located in: Mac HD\Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\Components On Mac OS X, VST files are located in: Mac HD\Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\VST\Line 6 POD Farm 2.5: Fehlerbehebung: 1. Eine Fehlermeldung erscheint beim Start: "Pro Tools could not load the following plug-ins either because no valid authorization could be found, the iLok key was not connected or the plug-in was damaged." Windows XP: Die neuen Dateien sind in diesem Ordner: C:\Programme\Line6\POD Farm 2\VST\Line 6 Windows Vista/7 Dateien in diesem Ordner: C:\Programme (x86)\Line6\POD Farm 2\VST\Line 6 Mac OSX, AU Dateien in diesem Ordner: Mac HD\Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\Components Mac OSX, VST Dateien im Ordner: Mac HD\Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\VST\Line 6 Dépannage POD Farm 2.5: 1. Supprimer.) Un message d'erreur s'ouvre au démarrage: "Pro Tools could not load the following plug-ins either because no valid authorization could be found, the iLok key was not connected or the plug-in was damaged."

A: A factory reset on the POD HD is performed by re-installing the Flash Memory using the Line 6 Monkey utility. Please ensure to connect the POD HD to a PC or Mac computer via USB 2.0 ports. Please ensure to disconnect all unnecessary USB devices and to test all of the computer's USB ports if you encounter connection problems. You can view a video tutorial on how to re-install the flash memory of the POD HD500 here: [Video Tutorial] How to Reset the POD HD by updating or reinstalling the Flash Memory Q: How do I access the global settings screen on the POD HD? A: Press and hold the VIEW button to the left of the LCD screen on the POD HD to enter the SETUP pages of the POD. Press the Left and Right arrow buttons on the 4 Way Nav to access all of the SETUP pages where you can set your inputs, outputs, MIDI settings and more. Q: How do I reset the global settings of the POD HD? A: Press and hold the Left Arrow button on the 4 Way Nav as you power on the POD HD. This reset resets the global settings back to factory defaults and also renames the Set Lists to factory as well. NOTE: This DOES NOT reset the presets of the POD HD. That requires re-installing the flash memory using Line 6 Monkey. (Same as Factory Reset above.) Q: How should I set the OUTPUT MODE on the POD HD? A: The OUTPUT MODE can be set in PAGE 4 of the global settings pages. NOTE: This setting affects ALL of the outputs of the POD HD: 1/4" unbalanced L/R outputs, the headphones output, and the USB record sends 1-2 into your computer. OUTPUT MODES Studio Direct: For connecting “Direct” to a mixing console (PA) or recording device. Also, this is the best setting for using headphones or monitor speakers. Combo and Stack Settings: These 4 options are all designed to optimize your tone for connecting to an external amplifier. The signal includes "Live' Cab Models, with no Mic Model or "AIR" convolution, with a special EQ curve added for each. Combo Front and Stack Front - For connecting the output of the POD HD into the front input of a typical combo amp or amp head + external cab, respectively. When choosing either of these Modes, you will see additional optional for further tone shaping. Combo Power Amp and Stack Power Amp - For connecting the output of the POD HD into the power amp or Effects Return of a combo or head amp. Ensure to set the Master Output of the POD HD to to a high output setting for this output mode. Use this setting to bypass the front preamp of your amplifier to use the POD as the digital preamp being fed directly into the power amp section of the amp. NOTE: If plugging into the effects return of an amp, set any loop level controls to 100% if available. May get lower output in amps with parallel effects loops by design. Sometimes, you may need to insert a dummy 1/4" into the amps input to make this connection work. Q: Which foot controllers are compatible with the POD HD desktop device? A: The FBV Shortboard Mk II will give you access to the most features of the POD HD by providing you the ability to access all of the presets within the Set Lists' of the POD along with giving the ability to toggle all effects on/off, control over the built-in looper, tuner enable/disable, and the ability to program the Expression Pedal(s) to control parameters of the amps and effects on the POD HD. You can use the FBV Express Mk II pedal for changing between presets, tuner, and expression pedal control. With either pedal, to create and edit Foot Switch assignments, select the desired FX or Amp Block within the Signal Flow View, then hold the Enter button. This displays the FS ASSIGN screen. All assignments are saved per Preset. Q: How do I enable the Wah effect with the expression pedal of FBV controllers when connected to the POD HD? A: When you assign a wah effect (or any other effect) to be toggled on/off by the Expression Pedal Toe Switch of the FBV controller, in order to physically enable or disable the effect, you must press down hard on the front toe portion of the expression pedal. You must use a good amount of pressure pressing down on the toe of the expression pedal which makes it difficult to do with your hand. Place the pedal on the floor and press down hard on the toe of the expression pedal with your foot. You should see the green Volume light change to red WAH (or vice versa). Q: How long is the looper on the POD HD? A: At full speed, the looper has 24 seconds total looping time. In 1/2 Speed Mode, the looper has 48 seconds total looping time. Q: What is the new TWEAK knob for on the POD HD? A: Controls amp or effect parameters that are assigned to TWEAK in the CONTROLLER ASSIGN screen as you would with expression pedal of an FBV controller. Select the desired amp or FX block, then doouble-press the MOVE button to enter the CONTROLLER ASSIGN screen. Q: What are Set Lists and how do I access them? A: The POD HD stores up to 64 presets within each of the 8 Set Lists. Press the PRESETS knob to display the Set Lists screen. Use the 4 Way Nav, or turn the PRESETS knob to select any Set List, then press the ENTER button. This immediately loads the selected Set List, making all its presets available. Q: How do I manage the presets and settings of the POD HD on my computer? A: Download and install the POD HD Edit software to edit or create the presets of the POD HD on your computer. You can store the presets of your POD HD to your computer, and load presets from your computer that you create or download from Customtone.com. (POD HD Preset section coming soon.) You can store the presets of your POD HD to your computer, and load presets from your computer that you create or download from POD HD Edit Pilot's Guide for how to use the program with your POD HD hardware. Q: Which external expression pedals can I use as EXP 2 with the FBV Shortboard POD HD? A: We recommend using the Line 6 EX-1 or the Mission Engineering EP1-L6 expression pedals. You can also use any other expression pedal containing a 10k Ohm Potentiometer. Expression pedals allow you to change stompbox controls using your feet so you can adjust the sound while you play. On the fly, you can modify the length of your delay time, dial up the reverb mix, or change the depth of your tremolo, or anything you program the expression pedal to control on the POD HD. Q: How do I assign an effect or amp block to be toggled with a foot switch of an FBV controller? A: In the Signal Flow screen, select the FX or Amp Block which you want assigned to one of your footswitches. Then Press and hold the ENTER button to display the Footswitch Assign screen. The Footswitch Assign page is display is similar to your Signal Flow view. Use Multi-function Knob 1 to select the footswitch to which you want this FX Block assigned. You can also just press the FS switch you would like to assign it to that amp or effect. NOTE: you can assign multiple FX Blocks to a single footswitch or Exp Pedal's "toe switch". You can reference the current Preset’s FX footswitch assignments by pressing the VIEW button to display the Performance View screen. Q: Does the XLR Mic input provide Phantom power for condenser microphones? A: No, the XLR Mic input does not provide Phantom power. You would need to use an external preamp to provide Phantom power to the condenser mic before connecting to the POD HD. Q: How do I calibrate the Expression Pedal of the FBV controller when connected to the POD HD? A: Please go over the following POD HD500 Pedal Calibration document for instructions on how to calibrate the expression pedal of an FBV controller when connected to a POD HD desktop device. The instructions are the same as for the POD HD500. Q: Does the POD HD desktop have Line 6 Link or MIDI connections? A: No, the POD HD desktop does not have physical connections to communicate via L6 Link or MIDI. Q: What Sample rates does the POD HD Support? A: The POD HD Supports 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96k at 16 or 24bit
  5. Q: I'm on a Windows PC. Why does Line 6 FBV Control or POD HD Edit (300/400/500) programs "hang" at the logo screen and never go past this startup splash image? A: Users who have "virtual MIDI Cable" software (a known example is: Hurchalla Maple) installed on their systems may experience a stalled state where the FBV Control or POD HD Edit program logo appears onscreen and the program remains "stuck" trying to load. Please uninstall your virtual MIDI Cable software application and then try re-launching the FBV Control or POD HD Edit program. If you need to have a virtual MIDI Cable program running on your system, please consider using LoopBe1: http://www.nerds.de/data/setuploopbe1.exe or Bome's MIDI Translator Pro: http://www.bome.com/products/miditranslator
