  1. Hey all, So this weekend my HX stomp's rotary encoder #2 (of 3) went bad. The switch mechanism either gave out or was crushed internally, not sure. However, it stopped receiving button presses on encoder 2 under the screen. Long story short, I spent hours looking up posts, parts, sites, and came across what seemed like a compatible match. I soldered in the part a few moments ago and it works like OEM! I hope this helps anyone looking for the part. With ALLL that said, I can't guarantee that his works for the Helix as it does the HX. I've taken apart both units a few times for maintenance, however I just can't recall what was in the Helix Floor. Likely the same part. Here's the info: Digi-Key Part Number: PEC11R-4015F-S0024-ND Manufacturer: Bourns Inc. 2. I made a dual expression knob controller for my Stomp. Both potentiometers are 10k linear, lug one is connected to tip/ring (one for each pot) and lugs 2 & 3 are connected to ground. When hooked up to the Stomp, the stomp reads 100% at about the 2 o’clock position, and when I went to the “Learn” setting, it reaches 100% at about the 4 o’clock position, but still not at the full rotation. So essentially, the Learn setting did something, but it seems like the Stomp still isn’t using the full rotation of the knob. The last 15% or so of the knob doesn’t do anything. Did I wire the pot correctly or do I have the right pot value? Or is there a calibration setting that I don’t have right?
  3. There are a number of products available to clean pots and faders. One is 99% Isopropyl. DeOxit D5 or one of the other Cramolin brand pot cleaners works well. Also, Tri Chem makes/made a plastic safe contact cleaner for pots and there's Blue Shower by Techspray, L.P. Pull the plastic knobs up first. Spray onto a cotton swab and let it drip down the shaft. Work the pot to work in the cleaner. Canned air is good for blowing dust off and getting the cleaner to dry quickly. Do not use WD40, that will just gunk up over time.
  4. Hi all, was wondering where i can get a pot for the guitar volume knob on the AX2? Recently bought a used ax2 with a floorboard for the low price of 100 dollars. Im pretty happy so far, but the guitar volume knob is broken clean off, so i need a new pot. According to this thread the specs for the pots are 10K, linear, 25mm, D shaft pot. A quick search on both ebay and mouser shows that there are pretty much none available that match the specs. The line6 store also dont have any in stock right now. Does anyone know where i can get a potentiometer to replace my old one with? Also, does anyone know where i can get new pushbuttons for the floorboard? the "Channel A" and "Channel B" buttons work if i roll my finger on the switch just right. I did find a listing on ebay that seems to match fairly well, but if anyone knows the exact specs that would be fantastic. Thanks. - Sondre/RageNorge
  5. hey everybody! My first time here! hope this is the correct thread. i bought a variax 700 this past saturday to go with my trusty POD XT LIVE . all my line 6 software is installed, the variax and POD xt live have been updated. everything is just "gravy". well, almost. the "select" Knob under the left side of the screen does not spin freely anymore like its counterpart "effects" button on the bottom right. not exactly STUCK, just feels like its, IDK, gummed up, hard to turn. The "effects" knob spins freely and you can feel each little "tick" or "click" if you will. not so with the "select" knob. Also, while the "select" knob does kinda work (it does change items on the screen), you really have to fiddle with it. its not dependable at all. i know this unit must be out of warranty. i dont have the reciept. i discarded it loooong time ago. i do have my receipt for my variax. What could i try to fix it? would some electronics cleaner spray work on a problem like this? i have worked on electronics before, specifically computers and guitar wiring. i know my way around a soldering iron very well. if it could not be "Cleaned", could it be replaced? i would imagine it would have to be desoldered and then a new pot soldered back in its place. is there a part number and where could i find it on line? what would the cost of replacing it be more or less? shame radioshack went out of business. found this part here. dont know if its the right part. i havent opened the pod xt live up yet so i have no clue: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/405728.html thanks in advance
