  1. Hello All, I've searched through these forums and haven't found an issue/post about this, maybe someone can help? I've had the HD500X for about 4 years now, been working well or acting as it should this whole time. Just recently noticed I'm having an issue with one of my controller knobs/pots. It is the "MID" knob. There seems to be a lag, or a "dead space" between where it shows the position on the mini screen, and where the knob is actually positioned. For example, I'll move the mid position all the way to 0%, then move the knob to 25% (9 o'clock). Though the actual knob is at 25%, it shows only 2% on the mini screen. The readings are way off by like 25%, until the knob gets to about 75%, then it seems to be closer to or on the money between the two. Working my way back from 100% down to 0%, it just jumps down way too fast below where I'm actually at. It's the only knob/pot that is having this issue, and I can't figure out why or how to solve it. I've tried global resetting, re-updating the flash, test mode/calibration screen. I have no idea if there's anything I can do myself to fix this issue. If anyone has had this sort of problem, and can help point me in the right direction I would appreciate it very much! Thanks
  2. Hi all, I have been owning a Helix pedalboard for two years and played lots of gigs with it. While I am very happy with it, last night I noticed that a couple of the pots under the display were loose. Before opening the unit and see whether I can tighten them up, I would like to know if that is actually possible. Problem is that, while gigging, it is very easy to accidentally hit those pots with the foot. Luckily they still work, however Line 6 should consider some kind of protection to avoid that in the next Helix generation.
  3. The Helix LT is awesome. Not had it long, but damn is it impressive. There's just one thing bugging me about amp emulation. Example… Fender Deluxe Reverb. On a real one (excluding the built in Vibrato and Reverb) the only pots are VOLUME, TREBLE, BASS. Note that there is no MIDDLE pot, unlike a Fender Twin. However, on the Helix Deluxe Reverb model, I have DRIVE, BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE, PRESENCE, CH VOL, MASTER, etc. I dislike how Helix amp controls seem to be a one size fits all approach. I find it very hard to dial in the sound of my real Deluxe Reverb into a Helix emulated version. There's effectively THREE pots that control volume! There is no DRIVE channel on a real Deluxe Reverb either, yet dialing down the DRIVE to zero gets you complete silence. Then there's the EQ issue. I could be wrong about this, but I've heard that the EQ on a Fender blackface only 'removes' frequencies and doesnt add any to the sound. It certainly behaves that way. So having both TREBLE and BASS dialed up to 10 is basically your guitar's original signal, and anything less is either removing bass or treble, depending on which pot you adjust. The Helix pots do not seem to behave like this though. It seems more like 50% is the normal signal and anything more will ADD to the signal. Again, frustrating. I realize that Line 6 can't really change this way of working without screwing up everybody's existing patches, but it would be nice to have an option in the preferences (or perhaps on a per patch basis) for 'Legacy' or 'New' amp controls. 'New' of course being a more faithful to what controls are on the actual amp. Strange that they DO appear to go all out on modelling the controls of effects pedals, e.g. I noticed that the OCD effect even has the HP switch and a switch to toggle between versions of the pedal! You may ask why I need to have the amp modelled so precisely, if I have the real amp, but there's a million obvious reasons why i'd want an emulated version too, such as for playing through headphones or recording direct to Logic. Anyway, i'm mainly just sounding off, but any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!
  4. There are a number of products available to clean pots and faders. One is 99% Isopropyl. DeOxit D5 or one of the other Cramolin brand pot cleaners works well. Also, Tri Chem makes/made a plastic safe contact cleaner for pots and there's Blue Shower by Techspray, L.P. Pull the plastic knobs up first. Spray onto a cotton swab and let it drip down the shaft. Work the pot to work in the cleaner. Canned air is good for blowing dust off and getting the cleaner to dry quickly. Do not use WD40, that will just gunk up over time.
  5. I am a brand new Pocket Pod user (and very new to electronic music stuff). When I (for example) set the 'DRIVE' pot to maximum, then when I hold down Save/ALT and turn that same POT the BASS will have been set to max. So assume that I want Max DRIVE and middle BASS, if I then set BASS (hold down SAVE and turn the DRIVE/BASS pot) to the middle, the DRIVE will also have been changed to the middle setting. All the POTS seem to work this way and this just seems wrong to me. How do I independently set DRIVE vs. BASS, EFFECTS vs MID, etc? Or is the "other" setting unchanged until you tweak the pot? Thank you. dave
  6. I looked in the HELP menu's of Workbench HD but could not find the answer to this question. In Workbench HD, under the POTS tab, the CAPACITANCE field allows a value to be specified for the virtual capacitor on the virtual tone control. There are a range of numerical values reflecting commonly used capacitors but there is also a value called FILTER. Does anyone know what exactly does the FILTER value provide? Thanks.
