  1. Hi guys, I have recently noticed on my HELIX LT that my presets sound slightly different when I copy them to another setlist. Namely, I have the very same presets in User 3 and User 4, and the same preset in User 4 sounds noticeably less alive (as if I'd dialed presence or gain back a bit). I mainly use User 3 folder to create the presets and then copy them to User 4 in the convenient order, but I've just discovered the issue above and I was wondering if there is a logical explanation behind it. Some could easily say that it is just my ears that trick me, but I've shown it to other people and they noticed it to - so the difference between the very same preset in User 3 and copied to User 4 is not huge, but definitely noticeable. And while it is easier to notice it on high-gain presets (the sound is thinner in User 4), it is definitely there for clean presets as well. Since it is the case for basically all presets that can be found in both folders, it seems like a general difference between the folders, which is strange since I don't know about any options to set something like a general EQ which is only for a certain folder. Any ideas on this, anyone?
  2. Looking for preset recommendations tailored specifically for the JTV Variax Acoustic guitar models. I understand the basic recipe (just a preamp or no amp at all and EQ, reverb, and a bit of compression to taste), but still interested in comparing with other players faves. If someone had a banjo preset I would not mind checking that one out too.
  3. Hi all. On my second HX effects unit as first one faulty. Some of the presets have no sound on bank 11 and 12. I have the latest 2.82 firmware loaded. Any ideas? Many thanks JW
  4. I'm new to the Helix, and I have the full floorboard model. When saving the presets I've worked on, I save them into a folder in which I call "Fundamentals". Sometimes I like to look at the factory presets to see what they do and how they path certain things together; however, when I go back to my "Fundamentals" folder, it's filled with the factory presets and not the presets that I worked on and saved. Apparently, they are backed up in the Templates folder even though I saved all my made presets to the "Fundamentals" folder, but I never know if I'm going to get them back every time. Is there a fix for this or is it something faulty with the saving function?
  5. Hi all. I'm new here (just got a Helix Floor yesterday) and am pretty excited. One thing I immediately noticed though was how difficult it was to figure out all of the different models of amps, effects, etc. and how they related to the various patch presets, etc. I found this to be a great simple resource, but felt like the community could be better served with a proper database, so I got things started! Introducing HXDB First, I'm using Airtable to build it…think Google Sheets on steroids. Second, much of the data is based on Dshowmusic'sresources. I've already got all of the amps, cabs, effects, and mics that I'm aware of in there, but am looking for some help to get the patch presets in. The beauty of the database model is that we can reference all of the specific effects, etc. associated with each patch directly within its entry. I've also added a column for the artist inspiration, so it can be easily referenced. Link to the database: Full database: https://airtable.com/invite/l?inviteId=inviQCBQHUH2vVuVS&inviteToken=74b3a1adda357e713fa998996811520e8534db8b45a21da3f85ecf91f1ed24cfNote: You'll need to sign up with Airtable (sorry, I can't change this) but it's free, and not spammy. Here's the link to sign up/log in, and get read access to the database: Preview of effects database: https://airtable.com/shr5FUWGUh0rPE0rf If you'd like to help out to improve the database, send me a message! I'll be able to make you a collaborator. Please give me any feedback that you would like! Ultimately I think this should be a community driven resource.
  6. Unfortunately when I purchased the MkII it already had the updated firmware (2.0) installed. The online documentation shows a completely different list of presets than what is on my amp. Is there some place where I can download some of the old presets and install them on my amp? Do I need to downgrade the firmware to get the old presets that I want? Thanks
  7. Hello I'm very new to mutlieffects processors and need some clarification on it's capabilities. I love user made presets and I see the helix has a sizeable collection of artists I really like. The hxstomp has some but not nearly as many. I know the stomp supports 8 blocks in the chain and the helix a few more but, as long as the signal chain is under 8, would I be able to pretty much replicate any user preset that was made for the full helix? Idk if the answer is obvious but I'd like some help from you guys. Thanks if you help out.
  8. After update many presets (not all) had no output. Seems that any preset that reroutes to path 2A or 2B is muted BECAUSE the input to 2A/B defaults to none and there is no option to select 2A/B. Rerouting the output from 2A to XLR,1/4 inch outputs reestablish's output but the 2A path seems unavailable. Updated the firmware on my Helix floor unit to 2.8. All went smooth and backed up before update. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanx
  9. Got my HX Stomp and as expected there is always going to be differences in the volume of the different factory presets as well as the many presets I’ve downloaded from the community site. Such differences of course would be expected say between a clean twin preset and a cranked metal tone. however the volume differences appear to be extremely different from one patch to the next. I spent a number of hours trying to normalize these, not to identical volumes, but to more appropriate volume differences between clean versus crunch versus distorted. at first I begin modifying amp distortion levels then channel volumes then master volumes, then pedal volumes...and lastly noted that additional volume changes could be made at the output. so... before I spend too many more hours, am I missing some major concept here - and if not is there a better way to be approaching more reasonable volume differences between patches. Many thanks, Jack
  10. Hi, New HX Stomp user here! I'll try to ask this question as clearly as possible.... I know that there is an option to tell the HX Stomp to send a PC command when calling a preset to external midi devices. I was wondering if you could set specific PC commands, depending on WHICH preset you activate? I have a Soleman midi controller (4 footswitches), with many many songs already programmed. Out of 50 songs in our set, maybe 30 need a specific set of presets (combinations of drive pedals, delay/reverb and modulation), and those are already programmed in my Soleman with song sections (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.). The rest of the songs are more "generic" tones, for which I typically use a general set of presets that get me through many songs that "fit" these tones. Now, I would like to create a preset on the HX Stomp for each and every song we play, and have it send a PC message to the Soleman ONLY when I want it to recall the "panel preset" that I already previously programmed. Which would give me greater flexibility and more swtiches to control my other pedals that are midi, but not in the HX Stomp (SA Nemesis, SA Ventris, Whammy 5). Please help. This has been spinnning in my head for days now.....! Ps. My other solution was to do it the other way around, with the Soleman calling presets on the HX Stomp, but it'd mean that I would have to do a lot more programming, and it's not ideal, I think.
  11. Is there a list of the Firehawk 1500 presets somewhere? I can find a list of the Firehawk FX presets online but the first three banks are different when I factory reset my Firehawk 1500. The online list says bank 1a should be "HD Rhythm" but it is in fact "Plexi Lead 100 N"
  12. Hi guys! Just wanna let you all know that I am making a lot a videos about the Helix and how to get the best tone out of it! Every week I release at least two new videos! Make sure you check it and subscribe to be notified. Here’s the link of the last upload! https://youtu.be/Poenu02m9uE Hope you enjoy it!
  13. This post is for those who use a PC to trigger MIDI events in Helix. Since I updated to the 2.8 firmware, my USB connectivity for MIDI is not working. I’ve checked all of my settings, reinstalled the ASIO audio driver and validated my USB connection to the PC as I’m able to control Helix perfectly through HX Edit app. I also validated the issue by reverting back to 2.71 and testing and everything worked fine. I also copied all of the global settings so I could reset them all in 2.8. Well, the issue is back and I don’t know what to try next. Any known issues or ideas you can share with us? I really need to resolve this before my upcoming live performances, thanks!
  14. Hi, fellow Helixoids! I've just released 13 new Helix sound sets, available at the Helix Marketplace. I've taken an unusual approach: While we all know that Helix is great at mimicking classic analog gear, I've been exploring Helix as the unique and powerful instrument it is, with an emphasis on startling new tones that could only have been created in Helix. I think these sounds will appeal to restlessly creative players in search of new tones and textures. (Admittedly, they're probably not suitable for REO Speedwagon cover bands.) Each board sell for $13 and has its own demo video at the above link. There's also a combo back offering all 13 sets at a 40% discount. Its demo video, which provides a taste of all 13 products, is a good starting point if you're curious. Thanks for listening! :)
  15. I really appreciate the care that a lot of you put into your custom tones, and have been pretty impressed with some of your work. And even when I wasn't exactly impressed - which says more about me than it does about you - I still valued the time and thought that you put into posting your custom tone creations. But we don't all have the same musical knowledge you have, so we don't all know what you're aiming for when you post a custom preset that has no notes in it beyond the title. And we all want to know what you were aiming for/what sound you intended to achieve with your custom presets. So please, don't worry about spelling or grammar, just pretend the person who's reading it doesn't understand what you mean by your preset title and needs some explanation, which only you can provide by way of entering a description of the tone in the "Comments" field when you upload it. I guarantee you it increases your downloads, and who knows? Maybe one day you build enough visibility that you can sell them for some dough to fund your next Line 6 purchase. Thanks -
  16. A factory preset called 'Fire Woman' was lost when upgrading to v2.8 and I am hoping someone might have an archive of the original. The 'Fire Woman' preset had a Weeper wah, Bucket Brigade delay, Script Mod Phase modulation and Plate verb.
  17. HELP PLEASE! Does anyone know if it is possibile to make helix remembering the last snapshot I used within a preset when I come back from another preset??? THANKS
  18. Hi, I'm new to the Helix LT and I'm looking for links to download presets. I have seen here a topic where a lot of links to download IRs and cabs are included and I wonder if there is something similar for the presets Thank you! regards!
  19. Hey ya'll, I searched the forums for this exact question and haven't had any luck yet. I'm still fairly new to the HX Stomp. I wish to move through the Presets (i.e. 35b, 35c, 36a, 37b, etc), while in stompbox mode, with my foot instead of bending down to turn the top wheel. Is that possible with an external pedal of some kind, or is there a way within the Stomp itself? Maybe I completely missed this in the manual. Thanks!
  20. Hallo all! Just made all the guitar amps of helix ready for mix, dual tracked, equalized, etc. Just upload these to your helix and enjoy! P.s. All amps have different sound, some are for busy mix, other are overwhelming, other underwhelming. Depends on the mix. Meaning, that your favorite amp may not sound what you like. Instead, I made all amps with different flavors. Close your eyes, and try the amp by each own. You will not believe that the amp x works better than your favorite amp on the mix. Also, please try and give a comment. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4r7gucctc4ydkye/AACzuVidRrsSbORyqG72fpwSa?dl=0 p.s.2 for the jtv users, i used the bundle to make these sounds, https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=24065.0
  21. bit.ly/AmpCabPack These are (now 31) very simple Amp+Cab presets for any Helix device with amp models, meant to be a “jumping off” point for bigger presets. Every preset contains an Amp+Cab block, with a few of the amp’s parameters assigned to Footswitch 1 for a different sound, kind of a Clean/Dirty channel thing. There are two folders, one for Stomp and one for the Floor/LT/Rack/Plugin (the later named “Full”). These presets were programmed with an HX Stomp playing though Yamaha HS5 studio monitors in a treated room, crossreferenced with a QSC K8.2. I’ve tweaked each preset using 4 guitars so they’ll hopefully sound good with whatever you’re plugging in with minimal tweaks. The 4 guitars I used are: a vanilla Strat with a MIJ Body with MIM electronics and a Warmoth neck, a Strat with 500k pots, a SD Hot Rails in the bridge position and noiseless single coils (bright sound) — a stock PRS S2 Standard 24 (warm sound) — and an Ibanez Iron Label S 7 string with Dimarzio Ionizers (high output). Yes, I ran a 7 String through a Fender Champ model and it was FUN! Leave some feedback or questions if you'd like. Thanks and enjoy, Alex Kenivel PS this is the third revision of this pack. More presets will be added so watch this space for more.
  22. Dude this is getting ridiculous. How do I save newly created presets and changes?? I'm using Logic Pro X and I cannot for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong here. I create a preset or I make changes to a preset, I click the drop down at the top left of the Helix Native plug-in and click SAVE. It acts like it saves something. I double click to a different preset then back. Changes are GONE. WTF am I doing wrong? Please help me as I am at the end of my rope here. I wanted to create, not perform IT functions in order to be able to do so. Thank you to anyone that can help me out here.
  23. I finally found a great deal on a (not) scratch n dent V-Standard at SW, and after 2.2 days I'm starting to get blown away. Let me back up. I entered the modeling realm with an HD500 when they were fresh (what, 2010?), thinking that I'd have more capability than the Spider Valve MkI that amazed me. First thing I noticed on the POD was that all the stock presets sucked. Playing at very low volume, I had to develop my own, which relied on a fair bit more gain than I'd normally go for in order to achieve any kind of crunch. I moved from FRFR to DT amps, but still, always kinda had more gain than I wanted (except when I went totally clean with the lovely Twin model). I picked up a Variax 600 and finally reached "dream rig" status, but really only liked the Strat models, Tele neck, and the Rick bridge. The alt tunings seemed kinda crappy too. Most of the other electric models were just too loud--much louder and with more gain than my real guitars with hot pups. When I first tried my new V-Standard, it was looking like more of the same (except usable mags). So I wondered, how do I get away from my presets with too much gain and into presets that work for my Variax? In an epiphany of sorts, I started trying out all those presets in my HD500 that sucked, and guess what? NO MO SUCKY! They're amazing, for the most part. Also, to my surprise, they all have variax settings already. So all I had to do was plug my dream rig in, using an ethernet cable and the digital L-6 Link, and now folks, I hardly have to tweak, I can just play my heart out! Turns out those patches were very well crafted using Variaxes of some kind, and so far about 2/3 are keepers! Has anyone else noticed this as well, or am I the first to stumble on this total treasure chest? The magnetic pickups are pretty sweet too! But the other thing I'm really thrilling over is the neck on the Variax Standard. I was afraid that something this flat, this thin, and with medium frets might not work for my aging knuckles, but I gotta tell you that even with 10's at concert pitch this thing is a joy for my hand! It's the most comfortable neck I've felt since the Japanese Variax 700 I've been wishing I'd have bought--and that's saying a lot. I do have questions: Is the light on the alt tuning knob supposed to be only momentary (unless you go to the "model" position)? I wish the thing would stay lit in mag mode so I could dial up the tuning I want without activating all those other tunings in between. Does anybody know how hard it would be to change pick guards? I'm thinking white would look very sweet with my sunburst brown... THANKS!!! Mike
  24. The spider remote has 4 user banks. How do I save a preset to one of those banks. Thank you.
  25. I'm new to Helix, having used it for about 3 weeks. I have had no history of working with modeling equipment and software. I've gone through most of Jason Sadites' tutorials - very instructive and helpful. I am interested in developing some presets for jazz guitars, particularly hollow bodies such as the D'Angelico Excel EXL1. I'm looking for a clean, round sound. I've attached a preset I made with dual amps and cabs, hopefully to give more depth to the tone. I'm using a Roland 40 amp, but plugging the Helix into the effects jack on the back; this appears to bypass the preamp. The tone was created for the D'Angelico. I applied some compression to the lows and highs of both modeled amps to decrease muddiness and too bright tonalities. I used EQs to specifically target frequencies which feed back on the guitar. Any thoughts/assistance in the elements and/or layout of the preset would be much appreciated. Randall RBS JC40 EXL1b.hlx
