I have a Pod Go, but i'm confused about the extra momentary switches you can connect. Is it possible to assign two more presets to the momentary switches when in preset mode, without switching banks?

Short introduction. Hi, we're Becksteetsj (.wordpress.com). Were an amateur band producing different types of music with a consistance of four bandmembers playing in varying compositions and sometimes with guest musicians. Our goal is to have fun en joy! Started with Line 6 with a spider II 15w. Great amp, but speaker to weak for me. Learned it. Loved it. Eventually sold it, to ... Eventually upgraded to a spider III 30w. Great amp. Learned it. Love it. Double-graded with a spider IV 30w next to my III. Even greater. Love this one to. Still slightly learning, and therefore my question. Both used for playing. The III in my livingroom for jamming. And the IV in my studio, both used to record with speaker (mic-ed) or directly plugged in. But i still have a question about the storaging pre-sets on this IV. There are four knobs. On my II & III i could store 4 pre-sets over 4 amp-models. Keep pushed till it is set, simple. But this IV reacts different, after blinking (as on II&III) i then a/b/c/d start blinking together and i can select 1 of 4 (this is new to me). Looks to me that i can store 4 pre-sets for each amp-model? Am i thinking right? 4 pre-sets on 6 amp-models = 24 pre-sets? Or do i still have 4 pre-sets over all 6 amp-models? Or 4 times 4 = 16?? Thank you in advance for your help.

Variax Shuriken Custom User Presets
Guest posted a article in JTV / Shuriken / Variax Standard / Workbench HD
The Shuriken is unique in many ways from other Variax guitars, one of the ways is the 4 Artist's programmed user presets on the model knob. If you want to replicate the artist's setup you will have to tune the low E string down to D, which will make the custom tunings sound correctly in the USER and SHURIKEN banks. None of the other banks contain tuning offsets and assume that the guitar is tuned to standard E. If you want to load the presets with their respective custom tunings, make sure to set the Alternate Tuning Knob to the MODEL 7 position. If all that is a bit too much ninja for you, feel free to keep the guitar in standard E and set the Alternate Tuning Knob to STANDARD or any of the other tuning presets. Note: If you perform a factory reset of the Shuriken, it will default to the standard JTV model pack. To re install the unique Shuriken pack, download it from here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3d63a058e7eb2d0d632/file/zip/varaix-shuriken-bundle.zip All custom tunings saved with these presets require the low E string tuned down a whole step to D, and that the Alternate Tuning Knob is set to MODEL. USER I Position 1: Post Mortem Spank Spank guitar body with Spank pickups and drop D tuning (sounds D A D G B E) - Note that the two lowest strings are muted. Position 2: 8 Collateral Neutral body with JTV89 pickups and very special custom tuning (sounds D A A A A A) - Note that low E and A strings are tuned down one octave. Position 3: 7 Collateral Neutral body with Lester pickups and another very special custom tuning (sounds A E E E E E) - Note that the physical "A" string (tuned to E) is muted. Position 4: Collateral Aco Acoustic J body with DADGAD tuning (sounds D A D G A D). Position 5: Collateral Spank Spank body with Spank pickups and DADGAD tuning (sounds D A D G A D). USER II Position 1: Octave Standard Neutral body with JTV89 pickups and standard tuning down one octave (sounds E A D G B E). Position 2: B Standard Neutral body with Lester pickups and everything tuned down a fourth (sounds B E A D F# B ). Position 3: Standard Neutral body with Lester pickups and standard tuning (sounds E A D G B E). Position 4: Acoustic Standard Acoustic D body with standard tuning (sounds E A D G B E). Position 5: Spank Standard Spank body with Spank pickups and standard tuning (sounds E A D G B E). USER III Position 1: Tumbi Lester’s Banjo with a custom tuning (sounds D A D G B A). Note that all strings except the high A are muted. Position 2: 7 Sick Riff Neutral body with Lester pickups and a custom tuning (sounds A E A E F# B ) Position 3: Invincible Aco Acoustic D body with a drop D tuning (sounds D A D G B E). Note that the two lowest strings are muted. Position 4: Invincible Chorus Special Bird body with Lester pickups and a custom tuning (sounds E B E B B E) - Note that the "D", "G", and "B" strings are set to 20% of normal volume, high E string set to 90% of normal volume. Position 5: Invincible G Neutral body with JTV89 pickups and a custom tuning (sounds G D F# A A A). USER IV Position 1: Acoustic DADGAD Acoustic D body with a DADGAD tuning (sounds D A D G A D). Position 2: Acoustic Drop D Acoustic D body with a drop D tuning (sounds D A D G B E). Position 3: Drop D Octave Neutral body with JTV 89 pickups and a drop D tuning one octave lower (sounds D A D G B E) - Note that all strings except the lowest "D" string are tuned down one octave. Position 4: Drop A Neutral body with Lester pickups and a drop A tuning (sounds A E A D F# B ) Position 5: Drop D Neutral body with Lester pickups and a drop D tuning (sounds D A D G B E)-

So recently purchased my AT2035 and Line 6 UX2. While I have some knowledge of audio interfaces, I find myself a bit lost when it comes to my microphone's specific issue. I have found that the microphone levels are very low and even with a volume boost it sounds rather low quality. I have tested my mic with no presets and it sounds very quiet reaching only roughly around -25 db. I have also tested various presets and have found using the default studio vocal preset to be the best; a bit louder, but still very quiet. It may also be important to note that the Mic 1/L Gain is in this position: Below I have posted screenshots of my UX2 audio interface and have given a small audio sample. The first half of the audio file is with no pre-amps or effects added and the second half contains the default studio vocal preset. I still believe the mic to be too quiet and am at a loss as to what is causing this. Any help is greatly appreciated! Mic.mp3

Hello everyone, I own a Pod Go and have been looking for presets to purchase and tweak to my liking. I've purchased many different presets, and really like them but I've also noticed that there are not many people selling presets for the Pod Go. Usually they are recreations of one of their Helix/HX patches adapted for the Pod Go. Lately, I've been watching YouTube videos of Helix and HX Stomp users making presets and giving their tips etc. On to my question... The Pod Go Edit software does NOT have the ability to open Helix/HX Stomp preset files, only Pod Go Edit files. Being that I don't have a Helix or HX Stomp is there a way I could purchase Helix/HX presets and view the amp/cab and other pedal settings? This way I can recreate them on the Pod Go. I'm not looking for freebies, but I just need to see the numbers to recreate them on my Pod Go. Is there software that might allow me to view the preset settings of the Helix/HX Stomp files? Thanks in advance for help with an odd request!

Hello Helix Community, Has anyone experienced a huge change in preset sounds after changing pickups in their guitars? I just had a Seymour Duncan JB installed in the bridge and a 59 in the neck of my PRS SE Custom 24. These replaced the originally 85/15s pickups which I thought were ok, but never satisfied with the sounds. I play lots of different styles from Steely Dan to Tool to Opeth to Porcupine Tree, so versatility is important for me. The clean sounds from these pups are amazing, didn’t know this guitar could sound so beautiful. But, any tones with gain or distortion sound absolutely terrible in every position. I usually only use the bridge for high gain and it sounds flat, harsh with no punch. Every preset with gain sounds the same no matter the amp model or different signal chain. Thanks so much for your help. Best regards, Derek

I am just learning my new HX stomp XL. In many factory presets amps or distortions have a question mark. It is said: "not recognized in this version of the HX stomp" I used a normal XL stomp before and everything was fine. I hope I will be able to import my selfmade presets into the XL and everything will work fine. Any experiences?

The BUNDLES and PRESETS files which can be saved and loaded to and from your computer using "Spider IV Edit", have the exact same parameters structure (that I won't detail here), at the EXCEPTION of ONE SINGLE DIGIT in both BUNDLES files (.s4b as file extension) and PRESET files (.s4e as file extension). The BUNDLES files for the Spider IV 75 have "02" as exadecimal value in the 12th position from the beginning of the file, and the BUNDLES files for the Spider IV 150 have "04" as exadecimal value in the 12th position from the beginning of the file, as shown in the scre en copy about BUNDLES. The PRESETS files for the Spider IV 75 have "02" as exadecimal value in the 20th position from the beginning of the file, and the PRESETS files for the Spider IV 150 have "04" as exadecimal value in the 20th position from the beginning of the file, as shown in the screen copy about PRESETS. You can export a PRESET or a BUNDLE from on amp to the other, BUT, you have to edit the PRESET or the BUNDLE file in order to have the appropriate value in the position previously mentioned. After exporting, you will have to edit the "volumes" of the presets, because both amps have a different responses in terms of "balance of volume" between different amp models.

Dude this is getting ridiculous. How do I save newly created presets and changes?? I'm using Logic Pro X and I cannot for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong here. I create a preset or I make changes to a preset, I click the drop down at the top left of the Helix Native plug-in and click SAVE. It acts like it saves something. I double click to a different preset then back. Changes are GONE. WTF am I doing wrong? Please help me as I am at the end of my rope here. I wanted to create, not perform IT functions in order to be able to do so. Thank you to anyone that can help me out here.

Hey ya'll, I searched the forums for this exact question and haven't had any luck yet. I'm still fairly new to the HX Stomp. I wish to move through the Presets (i.e. 35b, 35c, 36a, 37b, etc), while in stompbox mode, with my foot instead of bending down to turn the top wheel. Is that possible with an external pedal of some kind, or is there a way within the Stomp itself? Maybe I completely missed this in the manual. Thanks!

Does anyone know if presets for the HX Stomp Will work with the HX Stomp XL meaning can I import all my presets from my HX Stomp to the new HX Stomp XL?

Hey everyone - Maybe a silly question, but I can't figure this out. Question: Can Helix Store the Stomp / Snapshot mode with the individual presets? If so, where do I change that from global to by-preset? My Helix is used in a worship ministry and is used by two different guitarists. One player has presets based on 8 snapshots. The other has presets based on 4 snapshots on the bottom and 4 stomps on top. Before each service, I have to change the global settings to accommodate each player. Sure would be easier if I didn't have to make that change in the global settings each time. Thanks! Brad

This is my goal. I want to set up the bottom row of buttons to be specific tones. Example: metal/clean/classic rock/acoustic Sim. Then I would like my top row of buttons to be stomps that I can add to any given tone from the bottom row. Example: phaser/pitch shifter/boost/chorus. Is there any possibility that the helix can be set up this way? Essentially, this is the type of setup that I use on my XT LIVE.

Application Q: What are the presets on my Spider Valve Mk II amplifier? A: There are 64 presets (16 banks of 4) programmed into the amplifier at the factory, and 64 empty preset locations for an end user to program. The empty 64 preset locations have defaults (1-4) in them as a starting place. Q: I noticed that the Artist/Song Presets from the Spider IV are not present on the Spider Valve Mk II? A: Yes, as many end users had asked for more locations to store their personal presets, we have removed the artist/song presets for the Spider Valve Mk II. Q: Are the Spider Valve Mk II series amps Mono(phonic)? A: Yes, the Spider Valve Mk II series amplifiers have a monophonic output (as are most tube amplifiers). Q: How can I connect a POD unit to my Spider Valve Mk II series amplifier? POD Connections, Routing and the 4 Cable Method Q: Do the Master volume and presence control applied to the power amp section only? A: Yes, the master volume and presence control are true analog. Q: Where is the Master volume located in the chain? A: it is after the preamp, and before the power amp. Specifications Q: What are the specifications of the Spider Valve Mk II series? Spider Valve Mk II Specifications Q: What speakers are used in the Spider Valve Mk II amplifiers? Spider Valve 112: Celestion Vintage 30, 8 ohm Spider Valve 212: (2) Celestion Vintage 30s, 16 ohm Spider Valve 412 cabinet: (4) Celestion Vintage 30s, 16 ohm Q: What tubes ship in the Spider Valve Mk II amplifiers? What is the power output? Spider Valve Mk II 112 & 212: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS or Shuguang Electron Group 12AX7B China preamp tubes, (2) Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC WXT matched set power amp tubes. 40 watts. Spider Valve Mk II HD: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS or Shuguang Electron Group 12AX7B China preamp tubes, (4) Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC WXT matched set power amp tubes. 100 watts. Q: What are the function of the 12AX7 tubes? A: V1 is the booster to the output tubes, V2 is the phase inverter for the output tubes. When viewing the SV MKII HD100 upright from the back, V1 is on the right side. On the combo, V1 is on the left side. Q: Can the Spider Valve Mk II handle another 12A_7 style tube without damage to tubes or circuitry? A: Yes, the 12AX7/AT7/AU7/AY7 types, but as these tubes act as a phase inverter and a boost to the power amp (rather than traditionally "cleaning up" the preamp section), you may not get the result you are looking for. Care must be taken with this and should be done by a technician well practiced in tube technology and modifications of this type. Q: What Line 6 controllers work with the Spider Valve Mk II series amplifier? Controller compatibility chart Setup/Connection Q: Is there a bias switch to change the power tubes to EL-34s or other power tube types? A: No, the Spider Valve Mk II does not offer bias switchable options and was designed to only be used with 5881WXT type of 6L6 power amp output tubes. Q: Is there a headphone output on the Spider Valve Mk II series? A: There is no headphone output on the Spider Valve Series, but you can use the XLR output to go to a mixer, then use the headphone jack from the mixer. Q: Can I run my Spider Valve Mk II amplifier without a speaker load? A:No, you cannot run the Spider Valve Mk II series without a speaker load. Please see the following link for more information on cabinet connections: Cabinet Connection and Ohm F.A.Q. Q: Can the Spider Valve Mk II be run with a Variac? A: This is not recommended as the lower voltage can cause problems with the digital processing in the Preamp section of the Spider Valve Mk II. Q: Can I run a Palmer S.E., THD Hot Plate, Power Soak, etc. for speaker simulation or power attenuation? A: There are no known issues regarding the use of any direct recording simulators or power attenuators between the power amp output and the speaker cabinet, but if there is damage caused by improper connections or malfunctioning gear, it will not covered under the Line 6 warranty. Be aware of “red plating”, when too much current across the plate can result in damage to the tubes and nearby circuits. Q: Do the Spider Valve Mk II 112 and 212 combos support external speaker cabinets? If so, will the external cabs mute the internal speakers of the Spider Valve Mk II? A: Yes, the Spider Valve Mk II supports the use of additional cabinets. Please ensure that the ohm load is correct to avoid damaging your amplifier if you intend to use both the internal and external speakers simultaneously. Q: What is the bias voltage for the Sovtek 5881WXT matched set of tubes? A: 35 mV (+/-2mV) Q: Does the XLR output still send signal when the amplifier is on standby? A: In some cases yes, in some no. Spider Valve MkII actually has two different modes of Direct Out, which can be found in the SETUP menu in Edit Mode. They are Studio and Performance. Studio mode is a traditional, DSP POD-style output with speaker simulation and will function when the amplifier is in standby mode. In contrast, Performance mode takes a tap off the output transformer, then goes through the speaker simulation before going through the Direct Out. This allows the tubes to interact with the DSP, and because the amp has to be on to allow this to happen, there will be no signal at the XLR output in standby if Performance mode is selected. Q: Does the Spider Valve Mk II have an FX loop? A: the Spider Valve Mk II has a pre-amp out (effect send) and Power amp in (effect return) section. Q: Is the effect loop series or parallel? Is the effect loop mono or stereo? A: The effect loop is series mono. Q: Does the Spider Valve Mk II have MIDI ports? A: Yes, the Spider Valve Mk II amplifier series has both MIDI in and MIDI out ports, and the Spider Valve Mk II will accept MIDI program changes on MIDI Channel 1-16, from values 00-127. The MIDI channel assignment can be accessed by pushing the “preset” encoder and using the left/right arrow key to reach “MIDI”. This greatly increases the opportunity to integrate Spider Valve MkII’s into your existing rig, and will also allow you to update your amps firmware via MIDI. See the advanced user’s guide for the full MIDI story. Q: Can I send a MIDI output from the Spider Valve Mk II to another MIDI-capable Line 6 amplifier and control both amplifiers with one FBV controller? A: Yes, but as different Line 6 amplifiers have different MIDI implementation you will want to go through each control on the FBV to ensure that you get the desired control on both units. Q: Is there an editor where I can connect my Spider Valve Mk II to my computer and edit/store tones? A: Yes, Spider Valve Edit is the editing software that can be used to edit the Spider Valve Mk II. Please see the following link for more information: Spider Valve Edit FAQs Q: What do the FBV Shortboard series stomp, FX Loop/Function 1, and Function 2 do? A: The Stomp button activates the "boost" on both the original FBV shortboard series (Mark I) and Mark II controllers. The FX Loop (Mk I)/Function 1 (Mk II) activates the Noise gate. The Function 2 (Mk II only) activates the loop feature on the Spider Valve Mk II. Q: What do the FBV Shortboard MkII Function 1 and Function 2 buttons do with Spider Valve MkII? How is it different from the original FBV Shortboard? A: The Function 1 button activates the Boost setting saved with each preset. The Boost setting (up to 8db pre and/or post amp model) can be found by entering “edit mode” on the SV MkII and pressing the R arrow on the 4-way nav button. The button equivalent to Function 1 on the original FBV Shortboard is labeled FX Loop. The Function 2 button (FBV Shortboard MkII only) is equivalent to the Quick Loop button on the faceplate of the SV MkII, and arms the built in Looper. For full functionality of the Looper, see the Spider Valve MkII Advanced User Guide. In addition, the Stomp button activates the first Smart FX on both the original and MkII FBV Shortboard controllers. Q: Can I run the Spider Valve Mk II head with only the outer two power tubes (removing the inner pair) to operate at a lower output volume? A: Yes, it is safe to run the Spider Valve Mk II Head with two 5881WXT’s. It is recommended that the output impedance be run at "half" when running in this configuration. An example would be running the 8 ohm head output connected to the 16 ohm cabinet connection, or the 4 ohm output to an an 8 ohm cabinet connection. Line 6 recommends re-biasing your amplifier to 35mv after removing the tubes, as the current draw will have changed. This should be done by a technician with lots of experience with tube amps. Q: Where is the fuse located in the chain? A: The fuse is located between the 12AX7s and 5881WXT’s (there is no master fuse). Spider Valve Cabinet FAQs Q: What are the specs for the Line 6 4x12 cabinet? A: 9 ply, ¾" wood with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. There is no internal baffle. Q: What are the ohm load options for the 4x12 cabinet? A: The switchable ohm load options for the 4x12 cabinet are 16 ohm mono, 8 ohm stereo, and 4 ohm mono. Trouble shooting Q: What is the manufacturer's warranty for Spider Valve Mk II? A: The warranty for the Spider Valve Mk II amplifier is 12 months from the date of purchase, the tubes warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. Q: How do I perform a factory reset on my Spider Valve Mk II? A: The factory reset for the Spider Valve Mk II series is to hold the "A" button while powering the unit, then pushing the presets encoder twice. Q: I hear a loud "pop" when I switch between certain presets on the Spider Valve MKII. Is this normal? A: Sometimes if the Channel Volume is set or saved too low on a preset a loud pop will be heard when navigating to it and away from it. This is because of the level difference between it and the other saved presets. Try adjusting the preset's Channel Volume above "12:00" and saving again. This should level out the difference between the presets and eliminate the popping sound. Q: Will using different brands of 6L6 tubes in the Spider Valve Mk II void the warranty? A: Yes, so no Ruby, Mesa, GT, JJ, Tung-Sol, or others. The characteristic curves are not close enough, and the vacuum-to-gas ratio (soft, medium, hard) of the tube plays a role in that. So it’s best to use the specified Sovtek 5881WXT matched set tubes. Q: My amp seems to be malfunctioning. What can I do as an end user? I don't see a COMP button, what should I use? A: Please use the 'STOMP' & 'MOD' button to select the characters from left to right. This was an error in the manual due for revision. Hello all, I'm wondering if there is a way in Pod Go to set up a Global effects loop parameter. In other words, instead of activating and placing the mono effects loop block in every preset by hand, is there a way to activate the effects loop to 'always be on' on all presets. thank you.

I am a relatively new POD HD500 user, just bought a used one a few weeks ago. I use it through L6Link (XLR cables) w/ my Line6 DT25 112 combo. Yesterday during testing w/ my band, something strange happened. In general I use 2 banks of presets within the user setlist#1 - 1A through 2D. Depending on the songs we played yesterday I switched between presets in the 2nd bank (2A to 2D) of this setlist which contain AC15 pre, AC30pre, BF Double pre, and BF 'Lux pre, all in combination w/ some FX's. All of a sudden I noticed that preset 2B no longer contained the AC30pre but had been overwritten by a preset called 'Middle Pups' (which sounds funny in German, BTW) w/o me having changed or saved anything! Looking at the list of presets, I saw, that 'Middle Pups' usually is on 2B of the setlist L6LINK<->DT. So, it obviously was copied from 2B of one setlist to 2B of another setlist w/o any user action. Any idea how something like this can happen? Has anyone made a similar experience? Regards from Germany Wilfried

Is there any way to simply delete unwanted setlist and presets from the Helix using HX Edit or even on the unit itself? I updated to 3.0 and was worried about overwriting old presets with the new ones so now ended up with Two sets of Factory 1 and 2 Setlists - the old and the new!

On the POD HD500X, is there a way to move (or maybe copy and paste) a preset from one setlist to another? I want to gather the presets I use most often together into one of the empty user setlists, so I don't have to move back and forth between different setlists all the time. The manual shows how to move a preset within a setlist, but not how to move it to a different setlist. Can this be done?

I welcomed with anticipation the new method of Helix linking its IRs to Presets with what appears to be the IR name (vs the index number in the list of IRs). My understanding of how this is supposed to work, is that once you have specified which IR a preset is based on, the preset is supposed to be smart enough to "find" that preset based on name -- in the list of IRs. I think this is supposed to provide the user the flexibility to rearrange the IRs without worrying about having to re-link the presets to new IR index numbers. I did some testing, and for the most part it, this feature SEEMED to work on my laptop. If you moved an IR, re-clicking on the preset would re-link to the IR in its new location.. I also found that if you deleted an IR, re-clicking the preset would produce an error message. I found however that on a number of occasions that if an IR was deleted, an error message was NOT presented when you re-selected the preset. What happened in this case was that the preset definition had been updated automatically to point to IR number 127 which was empty. In both cases, the name of the preset was lost. (It would have been more useful if this name had been displayed in the error message saying it could not find this IR). In addition, after spending THREE HOURS fixing my presets so they pointed to the proper IRs (they had gotten mixed up in the upgrade)... I created a bundle of my patches as well as some setlists, and then happily went to my second computer, fully expecting that I could just copy in my IRs to Helix Native, and then import my bundle or the setlists -- and then the preset references to the IRs would all sort themselves out... Nope. This did not work. Only about a half of the references to IRs were resolved, even though all my IRs were all copied into Helix Native first. Could anyone please confirm: - has anyone else experienced this bug? - am I doing something wrong: do the IR references not get copied into the bundles and setlists? Do I need to manually export and import each single preset in order to preserve the IR reference? (I certainly hope not! That would be way to much work). If someone from Line6 is reading this, could you please reply and comment on how this new feature (to co-ordinate presets and the IRs they reference) is SUPPOSED to work? Thanks for your help. Richard.
