Hey guys, I recently bought a Pocket POD and had it shipped overseas. I'm currently deployed and figured it would be easier than having an actual amp here. I wanted to maybe record onto my laptop, but I know you can't via USB and also unless I buy a speaker to plug into, the laptop mic isn't much use. Are there any ways to record directly into my laptop without buying a soundboard and things like that? I used to work at a recording studio when I was younger, but that was years ago and we had tons of equipment. Now I'm pretty limited on both equipment and space. I'd like to have direct access from the POD to the laptop to get the raw sound from the POD instead of recording into a mic. I appreciate the help.

Hi, recorded this live (live over VoIP) in real time over the internet from Denver, SF and Canada. All improvisation then made a video for it. HELIX sounds great! https://youtu.be/l4Z4bYPsUuw

Okay so as a graduation present, I was given a brand new POD HD500x All I have is one xlr cable which fits but doesn't go all the way into my headphones (the 3.5mm) because of the way they were designed to have a skinnier cable (but still 3.5mm) fit (they are skull candy crushers) Anyway, I use reaper and FL studio (not both at the same time, just alternate) and I want to record, and I set up the pod with my computer and got everything installed and the tone editor, but you see when its connected via usb my computer playback and recording devices are switched too it meaning I can't hear a damned thing even through reaper, so I get no playback of what I record, and even after I disconnect everything i still don't get any playback. If I set the playback device to my headphones as default and leave the pod as defaut communications, I can hear everything from my computer just fine, but I still can't hear my guitar through the pod. I did think of routing it through an amp and then back to my computers input, but I have a horrid motherboard that doesn't handle impiedence very well. I know this because I use to record with Guitar Rig 5. Basically, I'm looking to see if there's something I'm doing wrong, or an alternative because I'm impatient and have to wait a few days before I can go out and get a 1/4 jack adapter Shouldn't you just connect it with usb and everything is fine? In Reaper, I set the sound drivers to Asio and selected the Pod's drivers so the input is proper it just seems the output of the sound still goes to the pod?

I just got a Pod Studio UX2 and an AKG C214 large diaphragm condenser microphone. I went through the whole setup and got everything working, but when I tried recording some vocals the recording played back at a slightly higher pitch. Why is this happening and how can I make it stop?

Hello everyone, A couple of days ago I decided to record a song in Reaper using my Pod XT as a sound card. I tried many tones from different VSTs such as Amplitube and I must say that some of them sounded better than what I had expected. Sadly, when I render/export my recordings and try to reproduce them in VLC or any other media player, I find that the guitars sound dull, without the warmth they had when I recorded and played them in Reaper. The result is the same even when I export the songs in the highest possible quality (WAV or FLAC format). I don't know if this is due to some kind of misconfiguration or if I should find a replacement for the Pod to achieve a higher recording quality, so any help regarding this matter will be highly appreciated.

Hey! First of all, thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your help. I've been using a Stagescape m20d to monitor in studio rehearsals for a while now, and I've had no problems with it. Recently I decided to start recording said rehearsals into a USB flashdrive in order to review the music we're writing and make adjustments. I don't need to work on these recordings much, I just import them to cubase on my PC, where I can listen to them. Worked well for the first 3 days and then it started to produce slowed down recordings... how much they are slowed down varies, sometimes it's barely noticeable and sometimes the recording is well over 10bpm slower than recorded. Any idea why this may be happening? Thanks

Just wondering if anyone's played with their Sonic Port VX in a "less mobile" application. I've had the VX for a while and have done some recording into Cubase; I love the mics for instruments, but for my uses I found they're too severe for vocals. I've since switched to another mic and a Scarlett 2i2 for vox, but I would like to use the VX for guitar, parallel with my vocal mic for 2 isolated tracks. Cubase will only accept either the VX or the Scarlett at one time, so I'd like to find a way to run the VX just as a plain instrument mic thru the scarlett. I've tried the 1/4" outputs both with a TS and a TRS into the scarlett with no luck...

Hey guys, I just got the Helix for my project studio yesterday. I have the flooorboard model for now, as there was a mix up with my order. Next week I will be returning the floorboard model when the rack version gets here. I have been doing a ton of research on it, and I have several years experience with recording bands. I built my on pc for it, and I am pretty tech savvy. I purchased the Helix to upgrade from Podfarm plugin for guitar tracking. First, please allow me to explain my setup so you will understand better what I am asking. Because I do not have a properly treated room for live mic recording (mainly solid drum recording), I use electronic drums connected to my PC through midi to trigger VSTi plugins like Superior Drummer 2.0 and I do a lot of direct recording for guitars. For a while now, I would record guitars direct/dry and use Podfarm plug-in to generate the guitar tones. My main audio interface is a Focusrite 18i20, and I have 4 main JBL monitors connected to that for playback/monitoring. I also have a 6 channel headphone amp routed from the Focusrite interface for monitoring as well. I run Reaper as my recording DAW. I know the Helix is actually a recording interface as well when connected through USB, and I know it can be used to record guitar tracks through the USB port by switch to it in Reaper. I also know that if I switch to Helix as an interface, my guitar players will have to use the Helix headphone jack for monitoring during tracking, because the Helix will take over the Daw and NOT send the audio through my Focusrite which has the monitors and headphone amp connected to it. However, here is where I am not sure what I should do... Like I said, in the past I have used Podfarm plug-in after recording guitars direct/dry so we can change the guitar tones on the fly during the mix after the guitar tracks have been finished. I know there is the Helix Native plug-in coming out soon, and I am assuming I can use the same approach as I have in the past where I would be able to use it to change a tone on the fly after it has been tracked. But, until Helix Native comes out, or until I decide to buy it or not, I was wondering what I should do for tracking. Does the Helix have the option to send a processed tone to my daw as well as an unprocessed tone at the same time? And if so, how would we take the un-processed tone and send back to Helix to change the tone? Should we use the interface options in Helix to do this? Or should we send Helix to my Focusrite via XLR? I am sorry if I have confused anyone. Any help/feedback will be appreciated!

I'm using the Multi-output to USB and I notice that my dry signal is always coming through on the right channel. Even when my volume pedal is at 0% and my XLR outs are quiet, the dry signal still comes in over USB. Has anyone else observed this on their Macs? I've tried both custom and factory patches, and they both have this issue.

Picked up an Alesis forge electronic drum kit and I am attempting to use the 2 line outputs (R / L) on the drum set module to connect to the two line inputs on the Toneport UX2 to record into Ableton LE 6 - I believe the issue I am having lies within the settings I am using in Gearbox - looking for some suggestions. When I connect the line outputs from the drum set to the line inputs on the UX2, I can hear everything I want to hear through my monitors and headphones (both directly connected to the UX2), when I have my input in gearbox set to "Line 1 & 2" - but I get no signal on my armed track in Ableton. When I change the gearbox input setting to a single line input (not sure if it's 1 or 2), I do get a signal in Ableton, but it's only on the right or left side - it's not stereo. I want to say that I have tried the "line stereo" input setting in gearbox as well - and I believe it works, but it gives me a completely mono signal which doesnt make sense to me. Wondering if there is step I am missing when trying to use the "line 1 and 2" input setting in gearbox that is stopping Ableton from picking up a signal. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

I've never really recorded anything before, so please bear with my ignorance! I've just signed up for Artist Works online guitar lessons, one part of which is that you send videos of yourself playing and the instructor (in this case the amazing Paul Gilbert) views it and sends you suggestions. I'm using Helix as my soundcard. I can call up my Logitech video camera and if I play the video picks up my guitar through Helix just fine. However, if I'm also playing a backing track -- say, through Windows Media Player or Audacity -- I can hear it just fine through my computer speakers, but the video camera doesn't pick up that audio, so it sounds like I'm playing by myself. Is there an easy workaround for this? Any help appreciated -- thanks!

I'm having issues using my spider v 60w amp for recording. I had it working but there was a huge latency issue and when i went to fix it, it completely stopped working. I have windows 10 and was using the program ohm studio to upload and share music using Livewire cord from amp to computer. All drivers/software are up to date. If anyone has a fix for this or has any ideas to try it would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Guys, I have a few songs our band recorded to SD card a while ago on my marvellous M20d, about 16 tracks in all I think, but since I and the band recorded them, we've changed our channel assignments and main mix setup on the desk to be unrecogniseable to the old recordings. How can I import the old recordings to the new channels, so everything sounds right? At the moment, channels are all over the place for the recording.. effects are weird, drums are coming out of vocal channels etc.. not pretty! Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Very Much, Stu

So I've had the Helix for about 6 months now, and I've been recording with the Helix USB port, because my old audio interface wasn't that great. I'm going to be buying a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre X because I'm getting more into my home studio. I was wondering if I can run the Helix through it like this: - Helix XLR L & R outs into channels 3 & 4 (for example) on the interface. - Guitar Thru on Helix Rack into DI box (then into the interface) or High Z input on the interface. - Aux out 3 (for example) on the interface, into fx return 4 on the Helix. I would then use the three tracks to record my stereo amped tone and a DI track, then send the DI back into the Helix, using FX Return 4 at line level, as the input, and then re amp to my liking. My main concern is that I'm not sure if I can send the track back into the Helix the way I described. Any help is much appreciated!

Hello! :) I use reaper to record my music, and all of sudden it has stopped working. It can still record me playing guitar, but not with the amp (or any amp) i selected from pod farm, This only just recently started happening out of the blue and i don't know how to fix it. Please help! Thank you. P.S. I use a UX1

It,s nice to have to the looper, but it is limited to a single recorded loop playback. It would be nice if there was an option after recording a single loop to be able to put a number of loop set for over dubbing that fits in the 1/2 scale or full scale loop playback. I have some tracks that are 6 to 10 bars long with my leads , but i also have fill ins at certain intervals and i and forced to keep recording all these bars, which is good practice lol, but it would be nice to to put in 8 bars and then practice recording over it. Thank You Yours Truly Tinn Mann

Hi my name is Benjamin. Recently I purchased a POD Studio UX1 and set it up all properly, authorized it and got latest drives and everything. I used it with my guitar and Pod Farm 2.5 and it was amazing. I want to record my keyboard. It is a Yamaha DGX-640. Basically I have found out to record the actual sound you have to use the two line inputs at the back of the interface. So today I went and bought a 1/4inch jack male to 2 1/4inch female jacks splitter because the keyboard only has one jack. I plugged 2 1/4inch jack cables into the splitter which was connected to my keyboard and the other ends connected to the line inputs on the UX1. I also plugged in my headphones through the direct monitoring port. Basically no program including Ableton live and audacity picked up the sound, and I couldn't hear the keyboard through direct monitoring with headphones as well, all I could hear was static... I'm not sure what I am doing wrong? Should I have gotten the actual cable and not the splitter or? Please anyone help because I would absolutely LOVE to record my keyboard in HD quality. Thanks Ben. :)

Hello and thank you in advance for your help. :) I currently have my POD HD500X connected to my firewire digital interface via SP/DIF, and everything is sounding amazing. I can record to my DAW and everything sounds exactly same as headphones direct from the Pod. What I am Trying to do: I would life to record via SP/DIF, but also use my computer to edit my tones via USB. Problem: when I plug in the USB cable from my computer to the POD HD, the audio from the sp/dif shutoff, when I unplug the USB cable the audio starts working again. I am not sure if this is normal or not. I have have read both that it should work, and should not work. Is this actually possible? Is there a setting in the computer or POD HD that I should be looking at? Thanks You, Matt B.

I am recording with the podhd500x, using Studio One, trying to do some metal/rock stuff. My question is this: Do you need to make two separate patches for lead and rhythm guitar (how would that be accomplished in the pod)? or is that something that I do inside the DAW, and if so, how would I accomplish that using EQ? I can't get the rhythm to sound more full.
-
So the way I've been recording is I use the Helix into an interface which then goes into my Mac. On the Helix I have the guitar patch EQ'd and Compressed. I was wondering if I would get better mixing results by bypassing the EQ and Compression on the guitar patch for when I record, and then do the EQ'ing and Compression on my DAW.

Hi, I have been using hardware dependent Pod Farm with my TonePort UX2 for the last few years to record guitar into Cubase. I now want to sell my physical TonePort audio interface but still use the Pod Farm software in Cubase to process the 'dry' guitar. I am aware that to do this I need to purchase the hardware independent version of Pod Farm separately. However I am concerned that I will then lose the tones I am using in Cubase projects as the hardware independent version will be a separate plugin in Cubase rather than just authorising the existing Pod Farm without the hardware if that makes sense? Any help on this is much appreciated, thanks.

I've never bought or tried any line6 products but I'm looking for a new rack FX unit. If I used a POD HD Pro I would intend on having it connected via the 4CM to my amp head (traditional valve head and 4x12) and also to a PA system. I wondered if any of you could answer some questions for me. 1) Assuming that the guitar, microphone and line inputs being used at the same time, can you route the following simultaneously... Guitar signal with fx but without cab modelling to the unbalanced outputs (going to a valve amp and a 4x12) Guitar signal with fx / cab modelling, microphone and line inputs to the balanced outputs (going to a PA system) 2) It is my understanding that the POD HD Pro can also be used as a USB audio interface for DAW. Can it provide separate audio interface signals for guitar, microphone and line inputs at the same time (i.e. can i record a guitar track, a vocal track and a line input track on my DAW simultaneously using the POD HD Pro as my audio interface)? Cheers! Paul

I just got a beatBuddy drum pedal. I want to record song ideas into the Spider Jam so I plug the drum pedal in MP3/CD 1/8 inch jack, the guitar into the guitar jack and when I record (with input set to guitar) I just get just the guitar. If I plug the beat buddy into the 1/4 inch AUX and set the input yo AUX/MIC I get clean drums and no guitar. If I hold down the input button for 2 seconds and select "mix with guitar" then I get drums and guitar recorded but the drums share the overdrive tone used for the guitar and gets all distorted (this is not input level distortion, it's from the tone/dist effect). Am I missing a way to record a clean beat buddy pedal and the distorted guitar sound on the Spider Jam? The routing seems odd. Think of it as playing your own backing track into the spider via the MP3 input and playing along, BUT you want to record it to the Spider JAM's internal recording. Can't seem to do it without mono-ising it as a WAV and moving it to the SD card..

Hi guys, I have the Firehawk FX, and I also have Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface which I normally use to record my vocal with a condenser mic. Now a shop nearby has Sennheiser mic 50% discount. As I'm looking forward to recording my electric guitar in the future, and I heard that dynamic mic suits the job, this is a good chance to buy one. The problem is I'm not sure if I should or need it. Which way, in your opinion, is the better way to record the electric guitar between ... Guitar --> Firehawk (with amp simulation) --> Audio Interface (Scarlett 2i2) --> PC VS Guitar --> Firehawk (for effects) --> Amp (a small tube amp, Vox AC4C1-BL) --> Mic --> Audio Interface (Scarlett 2i2) --> PC Thanks a lot guys.
