  1. Connecting a pod HD via Usb captures the preamp of the floor processor right? Would it be possible to capture a Marshall amp head via the 4 cable method by connecting a pod HD 500X to a computer via Usb with the help of a proper signal chain? Im looking forward to buy the HD 500x and i use the 4 cable method a lot, and record via usb. But i would like to record the amp head, not the pre-amps. Is this possible without micing the cabinet? thx
  2. I'v bought a new interface (Focusrite Scarlett 18i8) and i'm using this along side my HD Pro X. With my old interface i was able to reamp DI signals by sending via an line out output, however the 18i8 only has 2 of these outputs, which are used by my monitors. I now have to send the signals via SPDIF between the Focusrite and HD Pro X but i can't figure it out. How do i use the SPDIF input and output on the HD Pro X?
  3. I've found that when recording channels plus main mix that the resulting recording is not very loud. Is there a way to increase the levels for recording purposes without increasing the output of the main mix? It seems that a low volume performance turns into a low volume recording. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
  4. Hi everyone I've been looking for a comprehensive answer to this all over the Internet and somehow just cannot find a guide that would explain things from start to finish. The question is: What do you do to achieve good sound when you connect a Line 6 POD HD (500, in my case) to a PC, using USB? I've connected mine, installed Line 6 Monkey, made sure all software is up-to-date, set Studio/Direct output mode on the POD, set the POD as a soundcard (both for output and recording), but the sound is far from one would expect. Here's a sample: http://www.filedropper.com/line6directusbsample I'm not an expert in recording or sound engineering - probably like most people who buy a POD and would like to have decent sound when hooking it up to a PC.
  5. A few months ago, I got a new microphone and preamp and did a handful of recordings though my old TonePort KB37. The preamp has a balanced TRS output and an XLR output, so I connected it with a balanced TRS cable to the KB37's Line 1 input. Because I just wanted a dry vocal signal, I didn't install Pod Farm or any of that stuff, just the driver. Recently, I've switched to recording on my POD HD500X. To record dry vocals, I just switch on the tuner (in bypass mode) or use an empty preset. However, I noticed that my recordings sounded very different. So, I did some side-by-side comparisons. I also tested the Mic input on the KB37. What I found out is that everything sounds exactly the same except the KB37's line input. I've attached some samples for comparison (the HD500X recording was connected with a TRS cable via the Aux input). Is there any explanation as to why the line input on the KB37 sounds this way? Can I fix it? Should I redo all of those recordings? Here are the samples: KB37 Mic Input: mic.mp3 KB37 Line Input: line.mp3 HD500X Aux Input: hd500x.mp3
  6. Right now there is a direct function of any volume and headphone volume for me. That is, if I want a hotter signal into Audacity no matter what is turn up..E.G. Master volume, computer volume, or mixer volume I hear it louder in my headphones. How can I get a hotter signal without hearing it loud? Thank you
  7. Hi everyone, I just purchased an HD500X and I'm looking for some insight on a recording setup. I have two Mackie CR3 reference monitors and a Scarlett Solo audio interface. Currently, the Scarlett is connected via USB to the MacBook and the monitors are connected to the LR outputs on the back of the Scarlett. My question is, would a setup as follows work: Guitar into POD, POD output into Scarlett input, Scarlett for the monitors / USB to the MacBook. My idea is to record using the POD while having the reference monitors as my speakers. Can the monitors be plugged right into the POD so I can use the POD as the full interface, or should I use the Scarlett as the interface for everything? Hope this makes sense; it's my first time working with a live POD. Thanks!
  8. Hi, I´ve already seen some people with my problem. But I still didn´t understand it. The problem is that when recording my electric guitar in Ableton, through the UX1 I get a very low input signal. Since it is convenient for modifying it afterwards to have a larger one, I would like to know how to get a good input signal.. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks
  9. Hi I just bought a line 6 studio ux1 recording interface and after installation of the driver and pod farm 2.57 I can no longer hear any sounds on my computer. Nothing from youtube, no startup sound nothing. During installation I selected the ux1 driver instead of letting pod farm do that for me. I don't know if that screwed anything up for me. Please guide me through the process of fixing this please. Thank you, Marcipicus
  10. Hey I bought my UX1 a few days ago and well, i dont have a clue, how I record my vocals with the mic. My guitar works perfectly, but the mic (shure sm58) doesnt.. Do i have to choose the mic in pod farm or something? And if so, how do i do that? btw sorry for my englisch, im german^^
  11. Hello good morning :) Excuse me, I am completely new to the daunting experience of recording my own stuff. This means that my question (s) might come across as completely naïve but please bare with me. I have a Vetta II that I am familiar with. A macbook pro, retina (2014). A GuitarPort (very old but works fine) and M-Audio USB MIDI interface (Uno). I have just bought Logic Pro X because I wanted to start recording stuff (GB is not my cup of tea) so... To my question: How do I set up my Vetta II to run the sound to my Mac direct? As it is now the sound comes out of the speakers and the mic in my mac picks the sound up. That is not how I want it. I want the sound from Vetta that I have dialed in to be sent digitally straight into the DAW. Bearing in mind what I have and how little I know, can somebody please tell me how this should be done? I am extremely greatful for any help in the matter //z
  12. I know there's a few topics already on this sort of thing but I am the ultimate n00bie when it comes to this. I was wondering how to go about recording with my HD Pro via my UX2 into my DAW, YES I realise you can record direct with the HD Pro connected via usb to the computer but I heard that you can't re-amp/change tones on the fly once the track is recorded. Here's what I tried POD HD PRO -> (14")OUTPUTS L & R -> UX2 INPUTS L & R - > UX2 -> COMPUTER(via USB) I know I'm clearly doing something majorly wrong here so any advice would be very much appreciated. I'd also like to know if you can open HD Pro Edit in your DAW or simply have to have it open outside of the DAW to record. I know these are probably otherwise stupid questions but forgive me, I'm used to recording with the simplistic luxuries of pod farm. ALSO Is there a way to record both dry and wet signals(simultaneously of course) in your DAW(mine is mixcraft 6.... I know) without connecting the HD Pro via an interface?
  13. Haven't been able to find a thread regarding the Backtrack Plus mic products: So I used to use my Backtrack with my Windows, but ever since I got a Mac OSX my Backtrack won't work. It won't save a recorded file onto itself, nor will it show it when I plug it into the computer. I read somewhere that its a known issue. I have fixed the problem before by going into the system log and deleting the file that my mac keeps downloading onto the backtrack but everytime i plug it in again, it just reloads the bug. :/ For right now i just want to know what the file is called so i can delete it again, and then i will be able to record, then i can upload to a windows since my mac is gibing me this issue. i dont know what file to delete is what im saying.
  14. I'm new to the HD500x and initially I wanted to use this so that I didn't have to bring an amp to gigs. I tried playing through my Bose L1 and while I can pull it off at restaraunt gigs, I've decided I just can't match the tone and presence of a real tube amp for my bar gigs. So...I'm happy with using it with my Fender Hod Rod Deluxe, but have discovered that I like it better without using the amp modeling, just using effects like reverb, distortion, etc... I love my stage sound now, the problem lies with the PA/recording. I'd like to go from the HD500x straight to the mixer. The sound though, through the PA isn't very good. Is there a way to get amp tone through the PA (XLR) but not through my guitar amp? We record with the mixer as well. I could mike the amp, but that is obviously not my preferred solution.
  15. The Involvement used POD Farm on the entire new record out now @ Soundcloud and Spotify, mostly mixed DUAL RECTIFIER TONES, however the creative mesh always stands. 5150 kick lollipop mix with orange and recto. love/ -j
  16. My guitar sounds fine going into Ableton live 9 via USB. However on playback it is distorted. I can see where the signal seems to be blowing it out, but no matter what i try it seems to do it. I turn my send down, i have the pod set to studio mode, i turn the volume down on the pod itself via the volume nob and no good. Ideas? This is driving me nuts.
  17. Is it possible to record on a computer through a Spider IV with a shortboard? And if so what cables would i need to do so?
  18. Hello. I'm trying to record the guitar using the line 6 GX and the pod farm. The sound is playing well. But when i'm recording it always records all together. All the master channel with the drums and synth. And i need to record only the guitar channel. What to do?
  19. Q: If the AMPLIFi product works as a sound card through USB, what would be the way for connecting a pair of studio monitors to do the mixing with? How does the IO on AMPLIFi with USB recording enabled work? Is it a 2-in/2-out? If so, does AMPLIFi act as the 2-out monitor? A: The AMPLIFi amp becomes your sound card when using USB to record, so while you're recording using an amp, it's easiest to monitor computer playback through the amp – it really does sound great. You could always use the headphone outs to get a direct signal into studio monitors via a mixing board or other solution, but the intent is to use the amp for monitoring – at lease while you are recording. Once you are done recording, you can can mix using whatever setup you like. For AMPLIFi TT or AMPLIFi FX100, you would just connect monitors to the main outs on the units. Q: What bit depth and sampling rate can you use when recording with the AMPLIFi series? A: The AMPLIFi series can record in 24bit with sampling rates from 44.1k up to 96k on Windows and in 24bit with sampling rates of only 48k on MAC OSX. When using the AMPLIFi series for operating system audio you can adjust these within Control Panel on Windows and System Preferences on MAC OSX. When using the AMPLIFi series within a DAW, you can adjust these within the Audio Preferences/Options of the DAW. Q: What operating systems are the AMPLIFi series USB audio drivers compatible with? A: Our Windows ASIO USB audio driver is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8 and can be downloaded from our software HERE. The AMPLIFi series is CoreAudio compatible on MAC OSX 10.7 and above, therefore does not require the installation of any additional drivers.
  20. Hey guys, first time post. I'm using the POD HD500 to record in Ableton via USB, just as a standard interface, and I'm getting really low output volumes. I've tried tweaking things and maxing out both the master and amp volumes but nothing works. It will sound fairly loud when playing back, and the right volume when listening to it through the headphones I have connected, but when I export it the guitar track is barely audible. This has happened with both Reaper and Ableton so I know it isn't the software itself. any reccomendations? At max output I am getting around -18 Db
  21. I recently purchased a GAP Pre73 MKII and a Shure SM7. I'd like to use both of these to record vocals through my POD HD500, but I'm a little confused as to the proper way to set this up. Here's what I'm doing: My SM7 is going into the Pre73's Mic In via an XLR cable, and then the Pre73's output is going through a balanced TRS cable to the POD's Aux in. I read in the manual that the Aux In is unbalanced. Will this negatively affect my signal, or if I use a balanced TRS cable, will the signal stay balanced? Is there a better way to set this up, or a special configuration I need to use? When I connect the SM7 to the POD directly, via XLR to the POD's Mic In, the level in my DAW seems great and the mic is sufficiently loud (and the SM7 is a notoriously quiet mic). When I use my aforementioned setup, the level in my DAW is very low, even though I have both knobs on my Pre73 cranked to max. This has led me to believe I am doing something wrong. For what it's worth, I am using high-quality Mogami cables. As a somewhat-related sidenote, is it possible to run my Pre73 as part of an "fx loop"? Would there be a benefit to this? I'd like to use the Pre73 to warm up my bass and I figure that could be a way to do it, or should I simply plug the bass into the Pre73, and then the Pre73 into the POD? Thanks for reading this and thanks for the help. The world of pro audio sometimes befuddles my brain, so I really appreciate it.
  22. Guys first of all sorry I searched topics but none answered my doubts and I'm undecided whether I buy or not. To begin, I have a Windows phone, a desktop with Windows 8 and a Mac with Yosemite. None of these platforms gives to control the amplifier which is a bit weird but ready I'm willing to buy an android for this purpose, now I need to clarify the following doubts. 1- If I buy Mototola Moto G will be compatible with the amplifier (from what I read some say yes and others not)... 2- They are planning to release version for windows or mac? 3- How does the USB port work? I saw on youtube and everyone says it's possible to record, here in the community everyone says it isn't.. I need a little help please.
  23. Which Line 6 Home Recording/Practice Set-Up is Best? (For recording metal/rock music) Hey everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion on this... It's been a while having lost all my equipment 4 years ago right when my band was very active. But right now I'm looking to get a home setup where I can easily record and practice. Nothing crazy or fancy, but something I can setup fairly quickly or take with me, but also something that will allow me to produce and record demos for my metal/nu-metal band, Caidema (http://www.facebook.com/caidemaband). I'm really interested in a direct recording But I also know that just mic'ing an amp can be much better. After a lot of research for my budget ($300) I've been looking at the Line 6 POD UX1 and the POD UX2. I'm Leaning more towards the Line 6 POD UX1 more than the other. What I'm not sure about is if if I should go with the UX1, or one of these: Line 6 POD 2.0, POD XT, or Pocket POD. All I need is to be able to plug my guitar and headphones into it (without an amplifier) and be able to practice whenever, wherever (and not lollipop off the neighbors.) I also need to be able to turn on my computer, set everything up, load up the PODfarm, audacity and record my guitar, vocals, etc. I have $300 to get what I need for the setup, required cables and wires, and microphone if possible. Down the line I'll buy more equipment, but for now I just need a simple "I live on my grandfather's couch" setup. Just not sure which one of those I should go with. OR would it be better to go with my other option: buy a 15-30w Line 6 spider amp, buy a microphone to mic the amp, and buy a different USB Audio Interface. (All for under $300 somehow) What do you guys think? Line 6 POD Studio UX1 or Line 6 POD 2.0, Line 6 PODxt, POD Pocket (Or if there is any other product I don't have listed please let me know) • Line 6 POD Studio UX1 (with Podfarm) • Line 6 POD 2.0 • Line 6 Pocket Pod (used)
  24. Hi everyone. I'm new. I've tried to search this topic and have no clue on any of this - I tried reading the manual but I'm still lost. Kindly give me a hand? I launch video membership websites. My client wants to use the XD55HS headset to make instructional videos. She is a yoga teacher so she'll be using the headset. (important because of the movement of her head!) So - we want to be able to record the sound via the XD55HS. The video through her iphone5, then upload to her computer (I'm assuming she has a mac for now - she is away and I have to wait on the answer to that question. I told her to wait on her purchasing the XD55HS until we know she can record how she wants to. I am a web designer and am trying my best to help her out - and I guess I'm going to have to learn how this all works. Can you guys tell me what she should do for set up / give product reco's? How does one hook up to the next? Thanks everyone - I really really appreciate it.
  25. From Dust Studios is giving away TWO free Podfarm preset packs. All you have to do is like the page www.facebook.com/fromduststudios and then share the video example of the tones. Best of luck!!
