Recently went whole hog. Craigslisted the old PA and spent the proceeds and quite a bit more on an M20D, 2xL3m, 2xL2t, and 2xL3s. A lot of good and some issues I'm still struggling with. First, the speakers are fabulous. Gigged yesterday in a bar and tonight outside at a private event. For the outside gig we pumped some Rush Moving Pictures through the speakers to check them out during sound check. No where near maxed, loud as &^%$@# yet still clear and separate. I love the way that record is produced and it retained all that magic space and texture. Almost a religious experience. The people who say these speakers aren't loud enough...wtf? I haven't tried a lot of the newer speakers, but compared to my old system with passive Peavey mains and Yamaha 18 subs, and a refrigerator full of rack gear....no comparison. My old system could get loud but never did it sound just so clear and amazing. We played outside tonight and it only took us an hour to find out that the party hadn't gotten a permit for their block party...because the cops were getting noise complaints several blocks away. Slight volume adjustment and we made it another hour without getting arrested. Volume is no problem, take my word for it. We were no where near max. We've had some problems with feedback that I've started to narrow down but would appreciate some help with. Our lead singer uses a pretty hot condenser mic and he doesn't sing terribly loud. He's a great singer, with a killer voice and range, he sounds loud and powerful, but the truth is he's actually singing pretty soft. Consequently we've been fighting feedback and some ringing/howling from the PA that's just short of feedback but certainly not desirable. At the same time I'm having trouble getting him loud enough in the mains I know part of the problem is our stage volume is just too loud and tonight I made some progress by just lowering the monitors and really minimizing what I was sending to the monitor mixes (3 speakers and 1 in-ear mix). There's only so much I can do as a sound man to control drum volume on stage though, and that seems to set the floor for everyone else (a common lament I'm sure). I also found that that there's a ton of bass coming off the sides of the subs that, depending on sub placement, can really raise your stage volume levels. Set up the subs much farther away from the band tonight and that seemed to make a difference. My other mystery is recording. I've been able to record to an SD card but in two gigs I haven't been able to get a whole song. For some reason, I get the recording going and then it's just stopped for some reason. I have a 64g SD card, properly formatted, and have been able to record a couple of minutes for sound check purposes but when it comes time to record the set, the thing just turns off when my head is turned and I don't catch it until much later. Hoping there's a simple operator error that I haven't figured out yet. Saved setups made night #2 WAY easier than the first night. Hoping that trend continues as the rest of the band figures out how the system works. I'm a musician, not a soundman, and I want to get back to solving more musical problems than technical ones. On that subject, actually used the quick tweak option a couple of times tonight with some good effect. More importantly it let me solve a problem and get back to playing without too much mental gymnastics. So, 2 gigs down, a lot of lessons learned, but I'm pretty happy with our start. Still getting my arms around the M20d, but the speakers have way over-delivered. Long post...sorry. Any comment appreciated.

Hi. I am currently using a Audio-Technica AT2035 running through a UX2 audio interface connected to my computer through USB and it picks me up, but I am really low. I tried messing around with the settings in POD Farm 2.0, but it didn't make a difference. I tried also to change the settings in the windows sound control panel by changing the microphone volume. Some people suggested checking the microphone boost check box, but when I do, there is no difference. There isn't even a slider to change how much it boosts. I've recently got hold of a UX2 and I have been able to record guitar on it fine. I have tried for hours to find a way of recording two inputs at the same time and so far I haven't worked this out. I.e me singing and playing guitar at the same time and recording it on Reaper. How do I configure my system to do this? The SM58 mic input also seems very weak. Here are more details: UX2/Podfarm 2 Operating System : Windows 7 Mic : SM58 DAW : Reaper The mixer setting on Pod Farm does not help as the drop down menu does not have any option for a guitar and mic input simultaneously. I have tried to go into tone direct setting via preferences, closed the UX2 software completely, changed to mic and instrument input on tonedirect, then opened Pod Farm...and still I can't get both mic and guitar doing a live input simultaneously. I have a Jackson JSX-94 Concept, with Jackson Single-Coil pickups, I'm running it through my Line6 UX2 into my PC and recording with Reason 7. Ive noticed when I have some of the more distortion'y effects I get what sounds like a digital interference, I don't know if this is the hard-drive, the fan or power-supply... or something else... I've recorded the sound I get when the volume is turned up only slightly. If anybody knows whats causing the noise, and what I can do to fix it. Cheers, Jimmy. Interference.wav -
Hi all, Have been using the old guitar port for quite some time, but recently I purchased a DT25 112 combo with the Pod HD500X. So far so good and I really like the amp. Now I want to start doing some home recording. So I got myself a Focusrite 2i2 USB audio interface and connected the simulated cabinet direct out from the DT25 into one of the preamp's of the Focusrite (XLR/XLR). The problem is that in the recording software on my PC the audio level from the amp (going throught the Focusrite to the PC via USB) is way too low. It is so low that I have to crank the gain on the Focusrite almost all the way up which causes white noise in the end, so not really preferable. To counter this, I just turn up the master volume on the DT25, but this gets way too loud. I can put it in stand by and crank the amp which still outputs signal through the direct out - even on stand by but only in low volume mode. But it's still not loud enough and the amp starts to distort at volumes of 8+. My last attempt was to not use "low volume mode", but in that case there is no output at all through the direct out of the amp. So how to go about this? It seems to me there is some fundamental problem here that I am not seeing. I would figure that this type of setup (XLR/XLR connection using the directout of the amp to preamp-in on the audio interface) would be the normal way to go?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to get my UX1 to work on my Windows 8 64-bit machine, but to no avail. So far I've tried four different USB 3.0 ports (I have no 2.0 ports on this PC) and reinstalled the drivers over and over. So far, the only kind of sound I can get out of it is what appears to be a very grainy and slowed down version of the audio. When I watch a video on Youtube, the seconds on the video will go by two or three times as slowly as they should. I'm not sure what the issue is, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I had a gig last night which was the first real test of our new stagescape system. Happy to report that it sounded amazing and everyone was totally impressed with our sound so I am a very happy sound man! We were running the m20 into l3's as mains and l2's for monitors. There were however a couple of anomolies which I'm scratching my head about. Because we were in a bit of a rush to set up and sound check I didn't have much time to investigate at the time but I'm wondering if anyone might have experienced similar. I'm running version 1.1 software on the mixer. The first was during the sound check. I tried using quick capture. We had a bass direct, guitar direct, mandolin and 2 vocal mics. All channels recorded and played back fine with the exception of the guitar?! It was coming through the PA fine so it wasn't a level issue. Has anyone had this before? Second one was a recording issue onto SD card. I have read all the posts on this and I'm aware that there are a few quirks with this at the moment. The issue was this: The first half of the gig recorded beautifully. I pressed stop at the interval and then record again at the start of the second half. When I got back home and insterted the card into my pc there were empty files for the second half.. No setup changes, didn't remove the card. Literally just pressed stop and then record again....There was plenty of storage space on the card, it was a clean 32gb card at the start of the gig. Would welcome any thoughts on the above. I'm loving the system and as I'm fairly new to the desk I am completely open to the fact that the above may have been down to pilot error but I would love to get to the bottom of them for next time. I am really wanting to get a pod pro hd x to use at home. to use for recording and at home playing. i have looked every where online trying to figure out if i need to get a usb interface or not, and i still have not gotten a straight answer. my questions are obvious: Can i connect a pod hd pro x to my computer using a interface? If so, what kind of interface (what specs does it need) will i need? is the sound quality better if i connect through a interface or connect via usb from the pod unit itself? im kind of a noob when it comes to the at home recording specs. so i honestly have no idea if i should fork over $250+ for something that i do not even need. someone please help

Ok, so here's my dilemma. As of now I live in a tiny apartment with my Line 6 Spider 3, my guitar, and my laptop. Now, for the past year I've been playing through my amp through headphones, like through the headphone jack, because I cant play my amp slightly loud enough, before my neighbors come banging at my door. Anyways, I'm thinking about buying a Pod Pro HD X, but there's a few things I want to know about it before I pick it up. 1. Can I plug headphones and my guitar into it and play directly through it? 2. I'm pretty sure this is true, but can I plug my guitar and headphones into it, and plug it into my laptop via USB, for recording purposes? 3. Can I use a L6 FBV Express MKII on it? For like Wah effects and stuff? 4. Does the Pod Pro HD X sound better than the Line 6 Spider 4? Those are pretty much my only questions. I really want the HDX because I want to start recording, and I've tried with my Line 6 Spider 3 using a Aux audio to aux audio and plugging it into my mic port in my laptop, and it sounds like utter sh*t. I really don't want another actual amp either, because I hardly play live, or go out to play. So is the Pro HD X right for me?

So I contacted tech support, but as it turns out they're not much help. I'm wondering how I can start recording and practicing through my computer with just my guitar and Floor Pod Plus. I read you need to have a Audio Interface so I chose this one. It has some pretty awesome reviews on it, and I'm not looking to spend much so I thought it'd be a good Audio Interface to buy. I guess my question is, would all I need to start recording through my computer be the Audio Interface, my guitar, and the Floor Pod Plus? How would I go about hooking it all up together? And what cables/connectors would I need? More of a detailed description would be helpful, but I guess anything at this point will do. Also if I hooked this all up could I just put in headphones through my computer and practice playing that way? Thanks in advance! -
This is my first post so if I do anything wrong, I'm sorry before hand. I got a PODxt Live from a friend of mine who said I would need it more than him. I've got POD Farm 2 a while ago and used PODxt Live's usb input and processed it through POD Farm to get my tone. Before hand I used a First Act usb cable to record that gave raw guitar sound. I processed that into POD Farm and I got alright results (It had some noise to it but I just bit the bullet on that) but with PODxt Live, when I turn amp, noise gate, eq (basicly everything except for raw guitar) off, it sounds a lot softer and the sound of the clean is "crispier" (like crunchy-ish) and the distortions dont really have much emphasis as they did before hand. I of course googled the problem and spent about 2 hours watching videos and reading forums and manuals but didn't get much or any desired results. I won't say what I found because they are probably just going to make explaining the problem worse but if anyone can explain to me how to possibly fix this issue you would be helping a fellow musician greatly. Thanks again for reading! *P.S. the program I am using is Mixcraft 6 and my OS is Windows 7 (32 bit) if that helps at all -
Hi, I own the jm4 since 2010, and have a problem that I can not record anymore. The recording session does not start even I press on the Recording footswitch (I can hear the click!) This problem starts earlier this year were I could record with the 2nd or 3rd press on the switch, but today the footswich is not activating. I do not feel that there is a mechanical problem. Is there anybody with an idea? In additional, the volume is also sometimes increasing without any action while playing ? - Any idea? Thanks!

Hello Everyone, my first time posting to the forums. I've done a quick search on this and haven't found anything that gave any answers to my question....but sorry if this has been already answered and I just overlooked it. Anyway.... I recently purchased a Spider Jam combo amp and been trying to figure out how to connect the damn thing to my brand shiny new Macbook Pro? Do I need to go through the SD Card, or is there some sort of wires/cables like USB I could use? As for software on my Mac (OS X 10.8.4), for right now I'm just gonna use Garage Band. Mainly what I'm hoping to do is record my guitar to some of the backing tracks provided on the amp, and then share them with my Guitar Instructor. Any help or info about this would be greatly appreciated :) -
I'm using my ux2 interface to record a live acoustic band onto my laptop (on Cubase 5). I will have the output of the PA going into the stereo inputs on the back of the interface and a AT4033 going into one of the xlr inputs as I need phantom power. My problem is: I want a separate channel on Cubase for each wire coming into the interface (left output of the PA, right output of the PA and room Mic) but when I go into vst connections on Cubase it gives me a choice of 4 sends to choose from, can you tell me which send matches up to which input on the interface? Hello everyone! I am about to buy a DT25 combo to use with my POD HD500. I read somewhere, when you connect both devices through L6 Link, HD500 USB out goes quiet and only works as a MIDI interface (no sound signal). I used to make my recordings directly from HD500 USB out to a PC USB and directly to a DAW (Audacity, Reaper, etc...). Is there any way of continuing recording digitally, while playing HD500 connected to DT25 via L6 Link? If not, my enthusiasm on that Amp goes completely down the drain and I might call the deal off :( Anyone could give me a hint? Thank you all! Miguel -
Pod Hd400 And Cubase General Help

Hi there, I am new to audio recording, and I only have a minimal setup here at home. (See specs at end of post) Basically, when I plug my POD HD400 into my speakers, it gives me the audio output (processed) with the plugin effects from cubase (as expected) but it still has the sound of the original unprocessed sound (as if you were only running the pod into an amp). Is there a way to only let the sound of the processed effects come through? my audio process: guitar -> POD HD400 -> PC -> POD HD400 ->Speakers I cannot get it to work if I play guitar to the POD, and try put it out through the speakers or my other audio interface (m-audio fast track). Is it possible to use the POD as my interface, and get playback through a different device? Also, is there a way to change my sound once I have recorded? right now it is recording the audio sound and I am unable to change the base sound (ie: heavy to clean). Hi, I'm quite new to Line 6 POD gear and recording in general, and having a bit of a problem. I'm running my POD into a Tascam DP24, im using both outputs into the DP24? And the problem im having is that when i listen to my guitar through the headphone out of my POD it sounds great, but as soon as i record onto the Tascam it sounds very muddy, messy and slightly buzzy here and there, from either my monitors or headphones. And while that may seem like its the Tascam fault, when i record direct into the tascam using its built in amp simulator,it sounds obviously poorer in terms of realism, but it does sound some what clearer and a lot more defined than when i record with the POD. I understand that people might not no much about the Tascam, but just wondered if anyone might know if theirs anything i'm doing wrong with the POD. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi I recently bought a POD GX to start recording and ever since I got it, I have been wasting countless hours trying to get a decent sound that doesn't clip the audio recording. I am recording with a Ibanez K5 and Ibanez SRX690ex. I first tried using Audacity but then I tried the Reason software that came with it and it sounds exactly the same if I was to record it with Audacity. The bass on the heaviest string always clips the audio and sounds like farting noises and the higher notes don't sound good at all. I noticed the sound doesn't sound too bad if the volume in which I am recording is low but that kinda defeats the purpose of recording since I'm trying to put my bass tracks over music. How can I get good crisp and clear tone from my bass that is loud and doesn't clip or sound like farts? Basically if you have a setting with pod farm I would like to know what settings to use and what exactly to do on Reason or Audacity to make it ready to go on a track and not sound bad? -

Thought I'd share a few things I've learned in case anyone else out there is trying to create your own backing tracks or writing songs from scratch... Took a while to sort this all out, but from the start. Some obvious ones: - if you plug into the guitar input, you have to record with guitar selected on the record select, and once you record, you can adjust the levels by two taps on the input/levels button - if you plug in a microphone, you have to turn up the level left of the input (high as you can without clipping), the mic/aux has to be selected on the record select, and once you record, you level it with mic/aux/wav after two taps on input/levels button. - if you plug into aux, i think it's the same as the microphone (haven't used this much, but may soon, since the clean setting on guitar input is about as loud as a mouse itching its nose) Hopefully that is all very obvious. - if you stay in a .jam file setup, you only have three levels to play with - song/drum, guitar, and mic/aux/wav. Usually no problem, until you change a setting on your guitar and rapidly realize that you can't level it anymore without affecting the previous guitar track you already laid down. Frustrating. If you save your mix as a .jam, these leveling options all stay the same. It also means that you really don't want to mess with settings while you are doing different tracks. Turn the mic level down so you don't get feedback while you are listening to what you just did? better get it back to the exact same level if you want to use it again, because you can't level it now without affecting the first mic tracks ... etc. you get the idea. - a good option at this point is to export as a .wav ... and get used to exporting after each new addition. It goes like this - put down a guitar track. Listen to it and use mic to put a voice over it. Perfect, easy. Level them until they sound good. No problem. Now you want a solo guitar track... uh oh. No way to level it (which you will really have to do if you use a metal setting - way louder than clean). So... save the guitar 1 and vocal mix as a .wav file and bring it back. Now that mix of guitar and vocal is its own .wav file and gets leveled with mic/aux/wav, which means you can add a snarling guitar solo and level it down to match because its on guitar level and the rest of the song is on mic/aux/wav. - want to add another voice track? Now we're in trouble, cause the mic is on the same level as the .wav file. Back to trouble land. - here's where we get to how to record one track at a time while listening to what you already did. Have to use your computer. Export your track(s) as a .wav file. Use your favorite music program to play it. Plug your computer's headphone jack into the spider jam. When you play something through the 1/8" input, and hit record. it does not record the music coming in over the 1/8' input. This is a hand wringing moment if you were hoping to record your own magical duet with your favorite mp3 song, but it opens a world of possibility if you're recording your own stuff. Now, with a music program like Audacity (free) you can play your mp3/wav song through your amp, hit record, play along, and all it records is the live track you are playing - magic. Now export it as a .wav, and add it as a new track to the song. With Audacity (or garageband or whatever) you have a lot more control for fitting it in, and saves you from having to do perfect takes - you can clip good pieces out, etc... Whew, that was a lot of words. Hope someone finds it helpful.

hey everyone, i recently bought a pod hd400 about a year ago (well, i guess not that recently) and when i play music, especially using distorted tones such as "big time lead" to play metal-esque songs through my headphones the sound quality is amazing tight and compact/full. when i switch the back settings from studio to live, and line to amp and play the pod through my roland cube 15x amp the sound sounds much more different and harsh, but still good enough (first question... why?) the real question is when i want to do any recordings to my computer with my main objective putting youtube videos up. as i stated before, when i play through my headphones the tone sounds godly and magnificent, but when i hear the playback from either free DAWS "audacity" or "reaper(trial)" connected through USB it sounds so bad its unbearable. very harsh, trebly, as if recorded with a cellphone from the 90's... Why is this?? Shouldn't i hear back what im hearing through my headphones when playing strictly into them from my pod? And if any of you have put any youtube videos up, im wondering what equipment i must buy (my budget is pretty tight) to get the best sound quality out of this pod. Again, im not looking for anything spectacular or proffesional, but when i see these punk teenage kids putting up covers of songs that the sound quality is Fantastic i cant help but wonder why i cant do the same Hope to get some replies soon
