  1. Hey Guys, I've been trying to make a helix preset where the string volume changes from snapshot to snapshot, and can't seem to make it work. In my case I'm trying to go from a Open G# with string 6 at volume 0% on 3 snapshots, to a standard tuned guitar with all strings 100% volume on the 4th snapshot. The tuning changes fine per snapshot, but the string volume remains at 100%. I know I can work around this through workbench, but I shouldn't have to, it's supposed to work. My input variax setting is - "per preset". I've checked every global setting and have found nothing that should effect it. Guitar is JTV59, flash memory 2.23, Helix 2.82. Has anybody made a preset with snapshots changing string volumes?
  2. I am a relatively new user to the Helix and I'm having an issue with latency when I'm switching between snapshots in a given bank. When I purchased the unit it had firmware 2.3 installed and I updated to the latest firmware version and everything went smoothly. I cannot say for sure but I felt like I wasn't getting a latency issue when switching between snapshots before the update and if I understand correctly I shouldn't be having that issue. Like I said, I'm not sure if the latency was existing before the update but it is definitely present now and it will make my music unplayable due to dynamics and what not. If anyone can give me some insight here that would be super appreciated, thank you.
  3. Hi everyone, First time poster. I have read through the topics here on the forum but it seems like the topic has not been covered. Been using the helix floor for a year now. Great piece of gear! It is in my understanding that using snapshot is the way to go to change parameters with a patch without the ''sound gap'' you would get by switching presets. So I've been using snapshots for in-song changes, and presets for song-to-song (which seems to be common). Until now everything worked fine. I updated to 2.82 lately. I have a couple of presets based on the same ''rig''; the only thing that tends to stay the same would be the amp settings. Effects and snapshot changes. Last week I started to experience a ''sound gap'' (like the one you get when you change presets). Strangely, it seems to be related to when 2 presets are the same, within the setlist. I tried to build the preset from scratch instead of copying it, but as soon as I match the amp settings, I get that problem when I go through the snapshots. I don't know if someone encountered a similar problem, or even if I did explained it well, but if anymore encountered a similar issue, or have a fix... Thanks in advance for your help. English is not my primary language but I'll try to give more details if some of you have question Thank you, Cédric
  4. Hello all! i’ve update my hx effects and now i’ve so much problem to set up my snapshot. all settings still remains the same like the last version, but now if i take off or on one or more effects ,hx don’t save or take care any changes. if i turn on an effect in snapshot 1,save ,turn th e same off in snapshot 2 and save, when i return on snapshot 1 ,i find that effect in off!!! repeat,no changes in global settings( snapshot recall, latch ecc). the same bug with hx edit i need your help!!!
  5. I've had the Helix a couple weeks, and have been studiously setting up a single Preset and 8 Snapshots. Since Snapshots are my primary focus due to the large delay in preset switching, I've set the Global Setttings > Footswitches to "Manual Return" instead of auto. This was previously working fine. I could tap the Cancel button to return to Stomp box mode and enable/disable individual effects. Or I could use the Bank Up and Bank Down buttons to navigate around. Today when I boot up I find that I can't get into Stomp Box mode at all. Pressing cancel does nothing. Holding cancel will open Edit mode. Pressing up or down will allow me to choose a bank. I can choose any snapshot... I just can't get into stomp box mode? I'll try re-flashing later, but maybe I've just tweaked something weird. Anyone have ideas? I did muck with Global settings a bit to see what they did, and tried reverting some changes with no luck. ______________________ Coincidentally (or not...) The Bank Up and Down don't work as expected while in Snapshot mode. If I press Bank up, it will move one bank DOWN. Then pressing it again moves up as expected. Likewise, pressing bank down while viewing the snapshots will open up the next bank UP. Pressing it down again then moves back down. For example, I'm on preset 2A. Pressing Bank UP displays Banks 35 and 36. Pressing UP again displays Banks 1 and 2. Pressing Bank DOWN first displays Banks 3 and 4. Pressing DOWN again displays Banks 1 and 2. OCCASIONALLY no numbers will display at all and it will just say BANK on each. Pressing UP or DOWN returns to the expected BANK. Reversing the Bank up and down has no effect. It goes the wrong way the 1st time, then the way it was set the 2nd and 3rd. WTF?
  6. I am aware of snapshot power and how to change their behavior in Global Settings. However there is one feature that I miss in this logic. "Snapshot safe" setting for DSP block bypass. it is used in digital mixers. When you load a snapshot you can choose which channels are not affected - safe. Choosing "snapshot safe" setting would cause no bypass state change while changing snapshots. What do you think?

    HX Stomp

I seem to have lost the colors on the switches of my HX Stomp in Snapshot mode. (Only white) The switches aren't selecting the blocks either! I've tried reinstalling Firmware 2.81, no luck. I've also tried a factory preset, that didn't work either. I looked all through the Global settings, and can't find anything there, please can anybody help? Thanks
  8. Helix Floor Firmware 2.81 Upgraded direct from 2.71 about 5 gigs ago. The previous gigs on 2.81 went fine but tonight something went very wrong. Booting went straight to snapshots mode (I don't use snapshots) and there was no way to return to my patches . The 'cancel' option was displaying on the mode button which should have taken me back to my patches, but it didn't do anything, nor did pressing both bank buttons together which also should have returned to patches. I checked globals, tried setting to 8 presets (usually use stomp/preset) and also tried changing setlist to FACTORY 1 (to rule out a problem with my user patches). I rebooted about 10 times but there was no way out of snapshots view. The only way I could save the gig was when I discovered if I use the bank button it would allow me to select a patch, but once selected it goes straight back to snaps view and then I had to press bank down twice to get it back to the same row of patches, and I had to do this for the rest of the night with every patch change. Resetting globals (5&6) and the issue appears to be gone which suggests a bug or some corruption of the settings, even if the globals had been changed (which were definitely not changed by me since the previous gig 2 days earlier) , I should have been able to toggle back to patches by pressing bank up/down at the same time, or cancel (which the mode button was displaying), plus I checked globals several times and it was definitely still set to stomp/preset. I also think my sound was affected, very harsh like pad was turned off even though it said it was on in global settings.
  9. Hi there, I have benn using my Helix LT for a year or two now and one of the feature I use the most is midi remote control from Cubase 10. We play to a clic and follow a Cubase project and all my preset and snapshot changes are triggered from a midi track in cubase assigned to helix through midi over USB. What I would like to do now is to get rid of the FBV shortboard MKII that I use to start, stop and navigate through Cubase markers and use Helix to do that instead. The problem I run into is that whenever I go to a certain marker using Helix as my midi remote, Cubase then sends back a midi program change command to Helix in order to go to the appropriate preset. When this happens, Helix then transmit back a midi command to Cubase telling it where it's at and releasing the footswitch now that I'm in a new preset also sends a midi command back to Cubase... this gives some weird behaviors like midi feedback and dual commands (press once but feels like I pressed twice) and most of the time all will fail. Is there a way to seperate the midi channel from the DAW remote from the midi channel from the preset/snapshot control? Thank you!
  10. I just got a Helix and I'm liking it ok by it's self, but I'm running into some midi issues that are getting a little frustrating. I want to set it up to control my Strymon Mobius, TimeLine, and BigSky with midi without having to dedicate a loop to each. Here's where I'm at and maybe someone can suggest a way I can get this to work. I did have the Helix set up using the 4 cable method with my amp in loop 1. The 3 strymon pedals above are in loop 2 all assigned to their own midi channels. I also have a poly tune set up in loop 3 to be always on (the Helix tuner isn't that great). I have a Riverside OD set up in Loop 4 with the favorite function being controlled using the CV connector on Helix. With it set up like this I can get everything to work in stomp box mode without any problems excluding the lights on the Helix sometimes getting out of sync with the pedal. For example pedal is bypassed but the Helix light for that channel is illuminated (no big deal, I can live with this minor issue). I used midi CC# 80,81, and 82 to toggle the Strymon pedals A and B (and C on BigSky) buttons. The problems began when I started to set up Snapshots. I tried using the Instant commands to bring up a patch on a desired pedal using the midi program function 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. That method would bring up patches ok but when I toggled through the Snapshots some of the presets would be on when I didn't want them to be and would then toggle off when I wanted them to be on etc... After a little more research I found out that I needed a bypass command to apply before the new preset could be commanded on. After research I found out that Helix can't change CC# with snapshots, only the values within a CC. After finding this out I decided to go a different route. Now, Try 2... I've got the Helix completely reset to factory defaults. I cleared all blocks on the first preset and started fresh. I wired all strymon pedals in their own FX Loop so I can toggle off by bypassing the the block (I hate to loose the 4 cable method here, but I guess I can live with that for now). Ive set them up in stomp box mode and got everything working just as I had last time. Now on the the Snapshots I run into problems again. I would save each snapshot by going into stomp box mode and toggle on what I wanted then save each accordingly. Doing that I got the Mobius and Timeline to work, BUT the BigSky wants to be a BigPain in the ....... !! This pedal will not respond correctly no matter what channel its on, what program# I choose, even the CC80, 81, and 82 for the bank buttons. For example, If I toggle on a preset in bank A it will toggle that on and off when commanded to toggle Bank C. If I press the Bank A button on the Bigsky to switch it back to that bank it will work for a couple of snapshot changes and then back to the wrong preset. Sometimes it works fine going from Snaphot 1 to 2 to 3, but when I go from 3, to 2, to 1 it gets all messed up again. It's completely erratic behavior and I can't duplicate the issue to track down a solution. I've checked the commands on each snapshot and they are correct and set up the same as the TimeLine and Mobius. I've gone into global settings on the BigSky and Helix and tried different combinations as well as a factory reset on the BigSky, same thing. Any ideas??? I'm really hoping to get this resolved because I really want to keep the Helix as part of my rig. If not I'll ditch it for a Mastermind PCB. Sorry for the novel!
  11. Is there a way to change the default behavior of settings in a block when the snapshots are changed? What I'd like to see is the settings to be snapshot-specific without having to indicate that explicitly. As in - all settings are snapshot-specific, except those you mark as the "global" ones. Basically a behavior reverse to the one that is the default. Is there any way to do that?
  12. I absolutely love the L6 Helix. It is amazing. I have no regrets about this system at all. However, here is something I reeeeally wish I could do, but I am not sure the Helix can do it. I would pay good money to have it as an option. In the global settings you have to choose whether your device runs all presets, presets/snapshots, snapshots/stomp, all stomp, all snapshots, etc etc etc. However. I wish I could set in the Global settings a combination of as many as I want. For example. I love having lots of snapshots available, but I also like the option of having a boost available when I want it. What if I could have 7 snapshots and 1 stomp which could be a Kinky Boost? That would be amazing! It would also be killer if I could make that choice global, but also have it preset specific. i wish I could have presets that could have any combination of stomps and snapshots. How difficult would this be to add in a future update? It would blow my mind and make this a flawless device (PLUS ADD MORE DSP!). Regardless, I obviously can make-do, but damn. That would be awesome.
  13. Hi all! Just a quick question: is it possible to assign an expression pedal to control, for example, the volume, in a snapshot, and change the function of that very expression pedal in another snapshot, for example, a wah control?
  14. Trying to program different guitar models to change via Snapshots. SO I programmed a preset with different effects, then in the Variax settings to "global" and then hold and dialled until my desired guitar model was shown in brackets. Saved the preset then changed to snapshot 2 turned the knob until I had my other desired guitar model into brackets and saved again. Now when I change the snapshots, all the effects on/off work as expected, but for the guitar model to change it doesn't work reliably. Sometimes it stays at the model the switch on the guitar is set to. Sometimes it switches to the right guitar model 2 or 3 times, and sometimes it even selects a complete different model. I programmed Snapshot 1 with Shuriken and Snapshot 2 with Leicester 5. Coming from a preset where I used acoustic 2 it should change to Shuriken, but stays on acoustic2. Then I change to snapshot 2 and I get the right Leicester 5, than back to Snap 1 I get the right Shuriken, but then back to Snap two all of a sudden I get Leicester-1 Am I missing something ? 15. Hi there, I have been trying to figure how to change setlists/patches/snapshots with midi through ableton live. Having read the manual and had an extensive look here/online, I could gather that: Change a Setlist - CC32 - to whichever is needed Change a Patch - PC - to the relevant one Change a snapshot - CC69 - to the relevant snapshot The ultimate aim is that I run backing tracks through Live (as of up to now I have been running scenes for each song in session view) And can leave the Helix offstage, but having some issues. So I have been creating a midi clip under the audio track needed in arangemenrt view. As the setlist needed was the first one, I had not input anything CC32 wise, I had input the PC as the relevant patch, and then in the envelope, selected 69 and drawn a line between 0 and 3 to trigger the relevant snapshot as the track moves on through. My main issue is that at points I can do this and it seems to work fine, then I run the track again and just either doesnt work, or selects different snapshots. A few things that I had noticed: - For a patch change the PC number had to be 1 higher than the actual number for some reason? - When trying to change to a different setlist, I have had to put the bank as 36, the sub as the correct one (3 ikn this case) and then the PC as the correct one (2 in this case) and it would work. But then again I would try the track agian and just would not work. So am hoping/praying/begging that someone may be able to give me a breakdown on how to do this from scratch, am reletively new to midi so just working things out for myself, but seem to be hitting a brick wall. Ideally, where do I set the CC32 number to select the setlist, then the same with the patch and snapshot, and get this working in a live situation. Have attached a screenshot to show how the notes/envelope is setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Many Many thanks Steve
  16. Hi All! I am building a preset in Helix Native and cannot for the life of me figure out how to change a parameter for just one snapshot. Example: I have an IR block that applies to all 5 of my snapshots. However, when switching to a clean sound, I want to boost the Level of the IR a few dB. I know on my Helix Floor, I just push in the parameter knob and it turns that value white. Can this be done in Native? Thanks!!!
  17. Could you add the 1-click-looper to a preset and have it turned off in all but one of 8 snapshots? If not assigned to a footswitch then I guess you might not see the color changes as it goes from recording to overdub to playback etc.
  18. I think I know the answer to this, but why not ask... I typically run in 4 snapshots-4 stomps mode. Pressing the Mode switch puts you into all stomps mode, which I use to get to some lesser-used fx. Is there a similar way to get to all-snapshots mode? AFAIK, no, but I'd love to be wrong.
  19. Hi all, I have discovered that after updating my Helix to 2.50, when I change snapshots my external amp channel is no longer changing. I have two different external amps I use depending on what is required with a separate setlist set up for which amp I am using and the fault is common on both setups. The light ring around the appropriate footswitch lights up, but the relay doesn't appear to trigger. It works if I turn the assigned footswitch off and back on again and have tried reconfiguring the snapshot with no luck. I have reset the unit and reinstalled my back up with the same result. So far the only fix I have found was to reinstall V2.30 firmware so the problem seems to be in the latest update. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I would love to get this working as I have a song that requires the Seeker and voice box effects which are only available in the latest update. Thanks Steve
  20. Hi, I thought the Snapshot allowed me to change ANY parameters but not model. But what I'm finding is that the DRIVE is global and if I change the DRIVE on one Snapshot it effects all Snapshots. Am I doing something wrong? I'm sure many people need to increase the drive at certain parts of a song. Help? Gary
  21. I've had my Helix Rack for about 2 weeks and I'm really enjoying it. I'm having an issue and while I have workarounds I'm looking for some input. I use the Helix in 4CM with an analog looper (RJM Rack Gizmo) and my amp (Mark V). The looper responds to MIDI CC as well as Program Change messages. I currently have Program Change messages disabled on the Helix and am using CC either as an instant command or assigned to a footswitch. I use these to switch channels and enable the 3 OD pedals I have in the loops. The problem I'm having is related to saving the state of a CC Toggle assigned footswitch to a snapshot. From what I can tell the Helix does seem to attempt to save the state of the footswitch but when I select a new snapshot the "enabled" CC Toggle switches don't seem to have any effect. Also, currently active CC Toggle footswitches dim the LED as expected but the appropriate CC message doesn't appear to transmit to disable the loop. I realize that I can use Instant CC messages and have been doing that as well but I'd like to assign my loops to a FS on some patches. Is anyone else using the Helix like this and have you been able to use Snapshots?
  22. I've been looking through the LT manual and trying various methods...and can't seem to find this. Isn't it possible to copy a snapshot from 1 preset and paste into a completely different preset to another snapshot. I see where you can copy/swap/paste within "A" preset, but seems crazy with all this unit can do that you couldn't do this. Nooby trying to figure it out - thanks in advance for any help. K
  23. Hi there, Wondering if is possible to use snapshots feature we have in Helix patches (.hlx) with Native version. I have both versions (Helix floor and Native) but I couldn't find how to change snapshots when using Native version. I'm using Helix Native with Logic Pro X on Mac. Thanks a lot! Andre
  24. Hey guys, I just purchased my helix and have been incredibly impressed with its capabilities so far. I will say, I haven't been able to dial in any tones that feel right with all the amp/cab simulations, but I'm totally happy with using this for all its other capabilities. However... I am pretty disappointed with the delay switching and the weird warpy-ness that happens when switching delay times within a preset using the snapshots. The only work around I've found so far is to switch to a snapshot where the delay is off, then to the one with the desired delay. I know you're bound to encounter some weirdness when you start messing with the delay time when the effect is engaged, but I was previously using a Boss DD-20 to toggle between one delay preset and the next with different speeds/feedbacks, and it was totally seamless. So easy. I'm not liking the idea of having to go back to the core setting on the helix in between delays. Any help would be greatly appreciated. As of now, I just stuck my DD-20 in one of the helix's effects loop, and it sounds great. The only downside to that is I'm running the delay completely wet, and tweaking the mix/level parameters on the loop doesn't sound nearly as good adjusting the pedal's level knob. So, I will not have full programmability over over these parameters and will have to go back to manually adjusting and using tap tempo like the pre-Helix days, unless I can get this resolved :(
  25. Hi all, I was wondering if it is possible to control external gear via MIDI with Helix in snapshot mode? I would like to select a snapshot and in that snapshot select the correct program on a Whammy pedal and activate it. I've tried it but I got no success. I remind have read somewhere in the manual that controlling MIDI devices is only abailable in stombox mode? this seems unlogical to me as at least in preset mode should be able to do it, but not sure about snapshot mode... Thanks!
