  1. I was probably too hasty! I use MacOS Big Sur and HX Stomp 3.0. And there are some problems. Worst of all I find that changes in the snapshots' block values are not kept. I have set "discard" and are saving after every change of a value. When changing the snapshots the value jumps back to the old value. Is this because of the combination of 3.0 with Big Sur?
  2. So, when I switch snapshots from a sound with trails on delay/reverb to a snapshot with those effects bypassed, I'm getting weird glitches in the trails because it would seem the effect is changing its parameters to whatever they are in the next snapshot, even though they are bypassed. Is this something that can be repaired in future firmware so that the parameters don't change if the effect is in an OFF state when snapshots are changed?
  3. I have a problem with my helix that's been bugging me for weeks and which I can't seem to solve by myself. I use the helix for rehearsing with my band and have a patch for every song, with the snapshots being controlled via midi. My clean tone has a split in it, where I have a clean signal with only amp, ir etc. in path A and the reverb and delay on path B. The reason for that is that I like to heavily EQ those (I have a high cut set to 2.0khz because I like the effects to be rather mellow and dark and feel like that without EQ, they are way too bright), but don't want those EQ settings on my general guitar tone. Now, since I only need the split for the clean tone, I'm wondering about what to do with said split for the distorted tones. Even with all blocks on path B turned off, I still have two (identical) signals going into the merge block, which would make the tone more muddy I suppose? Correct me if I'm wrong. I could just turn down the volume down for path B, but that affects the volume of the tone in general (it is louder when I simply delete the split) and doesn't seem to be the ideal solution. Isn't there a way to decide for each snapshot if the split is active or ignored? There does seem to be a power button on the switch block, but when I turn it off, I still have two signals going into the merge block, so I guess all it does is deactivate all blocks on path B. Does anyone have a solution for this? Any help is very much appreciated (tldr: what I basically want is that when I have a clean snapshot, the split should be active and when it's a distorted snapshot, the signal should simply go from input to output, completey ignoring the split and path B). I attached a screenshot of the rhythm and clean tone for one of my patches.
  4. Hi. I have set up my helix with Snap/ stomp set up. I was trying to get different sounds and saving them when my snapshots disappeared. If I go to global settings and turn the setting button for Snap/ stomp to change it, nothing happens. The snapshots are still showing in the HX edit but not showing on the unit. Can anyone help?
  5. Hey folks! Looking for some help here regarding snapshots as I can't seem to find my specific question in any forums or tutorials... I downloaded a few free presets, and they are great, but were created as individual presets for each tone. (ex. Preset 1 = Clean, Preset 2 = Rhythm, Preset 3 = Lead, etc...) I am wanting to copy those individual Presets, and paste it into one preset utilizing different snapshots, but can't seem to find a way to do this in HX Edit. I currently have my Helix in Snapshot mode, and would like to consolidate these great tones into 1 preset. Is there a quick and easy way? Thank you all for the help.
  6. Hi, Just bought a new Helix LT. I'm not able to use the 4 bottom switches in order to switch between snapshots. I have changed in global parameters the "Preset mode switches" to stomp/snap. the only way I'm able to switch between snapshots is with the down/up buttons please help
  7. Hi Guys I was wondering if anyone can help me please? I recently picked up a Marshall JMP-1 MIDI preamp and will be running it through one of the loops on my helix floor. The issue I’m having is regarding the helix controlling the preset/patch changes on the JMP via midi. At present when I change an preset on the Helix it will change the patch on the JMP, ie preset 000 on the helix calls up patch 00 on the JMP. My problem is that I use snapshots within a preset and want my snapshot to change the patches on the JMP (ie footswitch 8/snapshot 1 to call patch 1 on the JMP. footswitch 9/snapshot 2 to call patch 2 on the JMP and so on) and not the presets. I have gone into the command Center and tried to assign each footswitch with a midi prog/bank setting but to no avail. Any advice or help would be much appreciated
  8. It seems a snapshot isn't what I would expect a snapshot to be. I think of a Snapshot as saving the current parameters of the Helix - or any other device - a Snapshot of things as the currently are to be uniquely saved for this particular state. I have EXP 2 and 3 pedals that control the mixes of Delays and Reverbs. On one snapshot, I want them really wet, and others, I want them drier - but I'd still like the flexibility of changing the mix with a pedal on the fly. So on the wet snapshot, I'll dial the pedals up and and save before leaving it. When I go back to the drier snapshots, they're all wet now. And yes, the mix parameters on each are properly [bracketed]. After digging and consulting a friend, I discovered that Snapshots are assigned on the Controller page - just like a footswitch or pedal - so not my understanding of what a snapshot is from other contexts. I'd like to see Snapshots save parameters that are changed by controllers - an actual "snapshot" of the current Helix state - and any changes brought about by pedal controllers. Any suggestions with the current architecture, or maybe my understanding of it?
  9. I'm using a Eventide H9 with my Helix. I have a setup where I'm using command center to assign different H9 presets to four of the lower switches for different snapshots. Is there a way to have the labels change by snapshot too? Or at least have the LED color change? /B
  10. There seems to be a bug with assigning multiple control parameters to a footswitch. Setup: Assign a footswitch to toggle between 2 settings in a delay block: (A) Low feedback + low mix (B) High feedback + high mix In Global Settings > Preferences, snapshot edits set to "Recall". Problem: Helix gets "confused" about the ON and OFF states of the footswitch. This typically happens when changing snapshots. Description: 1) Select Snapshot 1. Press footswitch > ON. Parameters set correctly to (B), footswitch lights up. 2) Switch to Snapshot 2. Press footswitch > ON as well. No issues so far. 3) Switch back to Snapshot 1. Sometimes this bug occurs: press footswitch again > it goes from ON to OFF, but parameters jump from state (B) > (A) > (B). Parameter states are (B) but footswitch light shows OFF, meaning states are reversed. 4) Switch back to Snapshot 2. Footswitch functions normally, with ON corresponding to state (B). 5) Switch back to Snapshot 1. Footswitch behavior still reversed (ON = state (A)) This setup was working fine before the update. It started after updating to 2.80. I've tried this on a new preset, same problem happens occasionally. But not always. Sometimes restarting the unit fixes it for awhile. Can anyone verify?
  11. Got the HX Effects a week ago. Got the latest update, 2.82. Love the sounds! The snapshots, however, give me a hard time....They 'blink' and when I tap them, the HX jumps back to the preset mode. Using the edit software on my pc it works just fine. I have searched the forums and it has been mentioned here and there, but I haven't found a soltion yet. Anybody??
  12. Hi all New owner of a HELIX floor unit here. I have been enjoying the unit for a few weeks now and have a few questions as I am about to start dabbling in snapshots. so as of now I have my unit set up like I did with my old hd500x. rhythm channel on one pre set high gain on another clean and lead etc etc etc. This use to work and I had gotten use to the slight delay in changing presets, with this floor unit its a bit more complicated for my preset switching. I need the ability to switch on and off effects and switch in-between presets during a song and I know snapshots can do this in a different manner then just switching a channel, I know it can activate and de activate amps and peddles etc. what I am trying to understand is this. If I want a rhythm clean and lead channel lets say, I understand that I have to make 3 snapshots and make sure all the effects and amps will fit in 1 preset due to dsp, what I don't understand is how I can switch the snapshots. like can I use the bottom 3 buttons to the right of the bank up bank down buttons for snapshot 1 2 and 3 and the rest for stomps? if so do I have the ability use 2 buttons one for clean and one for lead, and when I select the clean snapshot the foot controller that it was assigned to if pressed again could switch to my rhythm? I go to preset 1 all my snapshots are there. its already set to snapshot one (rhythm) I have all my stomp boxes set to other foot controllers other then the 2 that would switch to snapshot 2 and snapshot 3. lets say I need to go to lead (snapshot3) I press the button the lead snapshot is loaded but that button if pressed again will take me back to snapshot 1? is this possible?
  13. Hey folks - I've got my floor unit set up to have 4 snapshots across the bottom, 4 stomps across the top for each preset. The goal is for each preset to represent a specific amp/guitar tone with the snapshots set for common or specific song parts (verse, chorus, lead, etc). I'm hoping to use the 4 stomps for in-the-moment adjustments, adding or bypassing an effect, etc. It's close, BUT. I find that when I select a stomp, the selection applies only while I stay in the same snapshot. When I switch to the next section of the tune, the effect won't be there unless I kick it again. I was hoping/assuming the stomps would stay active across snapshots. Like saying "If I stomp this, just leave it on in all my snapshots until I un-stomp it." But I can't find a setting to make it so. Am I asking too much? Doing it wrong? I find this is the most confusing part of working with Helix. Here's what a sample preset looks like for me right now: Preset: 12A Telecaster Twin FS2-5 = stomps (e.g. slapback, chorus, etc) FS7-10 = snapshots (e.g. clean, overdrive, lead built with a combination of amp, IR, distortion, compression, EQ and reverb) Thanks for any insights you've got!
  14. I am a relatively new user to the Helix and I'm having an issue with latency when I'm switching between snapshots in a given bank. When I purchased the unit it had firmware 2.3 installed and I updated to the latest firmware version and everything went smoothly. I cannot say for sure but I felt like I wasn't getting a latency issue when switching between snapshots before the update and if I understand correctly I shouldn't be having that issue. Like I said, I'm not sure if the latency was existing before the update but it is definitely present now and it will make my music unplayable due to dynamics and what not. If anyone can give me some insight here that would be super appreciated, thank you.
  15. Ok, so I am a noob to Helix, but not a complete noob. I'm a software developer, good with tech. But, I'm seeing some weird behavior with editing snapshots in HX Edit that doesn't seem to match up with how they are supposed to work. Before I dig into this, let me say my global preferences are set to discard changes to snapshots. So, I have to save them or they get discarded. So I have this lead patch, and I want that exact setup for Snapshot 2, but I want to customize Snapshot 1 and save it as a more dialed down sound. Basically 1=rhythm, 2=lead. I bypass a couple of effects, and I make some significant tweaks to parameters on the 10-band EQ. I save the patch (thus saving my snapshot changes), then switch to Snapshot 2. When I do that, the bypassed pedals are no longer bypassed, which is what you would expect. However, the EQ parameters stay the same. They don't bounce back to Snapshot 2 settings. If I now edit them again, save the patch, and go back to Snap1, they are once again NOT restored to Snap1 EQ settings. What gives here? My understanding is it should restore the individual parameters on each block?
  16. Hey, Came across a weird midi snag which has only occurred on one preset (so far). I've got around it but I would love to know what was causing it if anyone can help. I've set up automation from Ableton using CC69 to change snapshots and PC messages select presets. It's fantastic. Just one of my presets did not want to behave. The PC message selected the preset but... at the beginning of the song, with the CC69 demanding snapshot 1; the light on the helix was indicating snapshot 2 with the actual sound being kind of snapshot 1 but with some differences. As the song progressed and other snapshots were demanded, the sound changed but the indication remained on snapshot 2. My fault diagnosis: I've tried a different midi track which works perfectly on another preset and got the same results. I saved a different preset into the offending preset's slot and it works perfectly. I saved a backup copy of the offending preset into the slot and it misbehaves. Therefore, there is something wrong with this preset and I can't even begin to imagine what could be wrong with a preset to make it not like midi. I've got around the issue by just creating a new preset, I just want to understand. Any ideas? To reiterate... there is nothing wrong with the midi implementation, I've proved this by substituting other presets. It is the preset at fault... somehow. Oh, and I'm on latest firmware etc. PSA the offending preset if anyone wants to take a look. Thanks Shut up & dance.hlx
  17. My Helix crashes when I try to load a snapshot that has Midi Notes commands set up in the Command Center. I am running Firmware 2.82. Has anyone been able to find a solution? Here are some more specific details and examples:: If I am in snapshot one's Command Center and assign a foot switch to a Midi Note On command, I can load snapshot two just fine. I then can then make changes to the Midi Note On command(s) in snapshot two Then when I try to load snapshot one again, my Helix crashes, the screen is dark, and I have to reboot. The Helix would have a lot more value to me if I could use the same Midi Note Commands assigned to the same foot switches in all my snapshots for a preset. As it stands now, I have the Midi Note Commands set up only in snapshot one. I would appreciate your experience, insight, and suggestions!
  18. Hi, (Fwiw, new to this forum, finally got my own Helix some days ago - but I've had two units borrowed for a longer period of time before already, so the Helix isn't exactly new to me.) Ok, I'll try to decribe my issue. I'm switching an EQ on for my lead sounds. Works fine through snapshots. I'm now using the output level to balance all my lead sounds - and I want this to be valid patchwide, in other words, the output level shouldn't be saved with the snapshot. And by default it isn't, either. So far so good. Alright, but I also have a BCR2000 knob controller (or alternatively an Android MIDI fader app that does the same thing) and one of the encoders is controlling my lead EQs output level. And once that assignment is set, the output level of the EQ is automatically saved with a snapshot. In a nutshell: No CC assignment = EQ level can be adjusted patchwide, CC assignment = EQ level is valid per snapshot. Is there any way to change this behaviour or is this a bug? Cheers Sascha
  19. Yesterday I upgraded my Helix to the 2.80 firmware and had no issues with the update process. Spent some time playing with the new amps (love them) and created a few new patches. Today, I went through my setlist/patches for tomorrows set. I noticed two things when I did this: 1) Half of my patches would not change snapshots properly. I was initially using HXEdit and it was giving me an error message. So I tried the actual switches on the Helix - I would push a switch to change snapshots and nothing would happen. The ring would stay lit around the snap that was active when the patch was loaded no matter which snap I selected and the sound did not change. I tried to sent snap change commands via cc69 but this too failed. In one of my patches, the sound WOULD change, but the snap ring would not change. 2) The patch volume for every patch I tried was significantly quieter. I use meters to make sure all of my patches are consistent. So I was shocked to see that the levels were approximately HALF of what I am used to seeing. I did not take the time to determine what this difference equated to in terms of decibels, but it was half of the value I set my patches to on the meter. I know that there have been some users reporting volume fluctuations when using Jason Sadites' LA Comp at the end of their signal chain, but I am not using that technique. Since I have a gig tomorrow and needed to practice I immediately stopped and rolled my firmware back to 2.7. Anyone else experiencing these issues?
  20. Hi there! First post here! Been a happy L6 user since X3 days until my Helix LT and this community has been a source of inspiration. Now I recently got a HX Effects to use with my JVM410H, and everything sounds killer but I wish I could assign different midi messages to different snapshots so that I can switch the amp channels. What I'd like to do is assign snapshot 1 to my clean channel, snapshot 2 to crunch and so on. I've search the forum and only could find info about EXT AMP switching (TS cable) but nothing about midi and snapshots. I guess it has something to do with INSTANT COMMANDS but can't find an answer. What am I missing? Is there a way to do so? Thank you very much, any help will be appreciated.
  21. when I create a preset , on the SNAPSHOT 1 - let suppose a clean electric on the Variax , then I create a acoustic preset on SNAPSHOT 2 using the Variax - let suppose acoustic model on the Variax . when I switch SNAPSHOT from 1 to 2 should the SNAPSHOT control the Variax , or the knob on the Variax will always be what's determines the guitar model ?
  22. Hi, I can't figure out how to save snapshots in LT.No videos on it & can't figure out the manual. It looks like LT is a bit different from the Helix.Any videos exclusively for LT snapshot saving? Thanks
  23. HELP PLEASE! Does anyone know if it is possibile to make helix remembering the last snapshot I used within a preset when I come back from another preset??? THANKS
  24. Is there a way to change the default behavior of settings in a block when the snapshots are changed? What I'd like to see is the settings to be snapshot-specific without having to indicate that explicitly. As in - all settings are snapshot-specific, except those you mark as the "global" ones. Basically a behavior reverse to the one that is the default. Is there any way to do that?
  25. Can I copy a tone into a snapshot? So if it on another patch can I copy it into a particular snapshot? If so, how can this be done? Thanks
