I've looked for this answer and couldn't find it, so forgive me if I missed it. I've just downloaded the Remote software for Windows 10. But before I install it, I was wondering if there was a minimum amount of RAM required for its use, similar to other modeling software. Does anyone know? Also, I downloaded the driver (I saw the link on another post)--is that required also, or does it automatically come with the Remote software or upload when I connect to my amp? (I have a Spider V 120) It would be nice if there were clearer instructions on how to use this. I previously used the Line 6 AX2 212 (so Line 6 and I go way back), which was considerably less complicated, and there were much better instructions. I've already thought about returning my amp several times because of the lack of clear instructions and tutorials. I'm still not totally sold. I have until the end of January to make up my mind. I feel like Line 6 is driving away potential customers, particularly the analog "traditionalists". Cheers x

I was happy to see that Line 6 finally added a computer-based version of the Spider V Remote app so that I can dig in deeper on my computer screen and change tones while using a DAW. There was also talk in the email that I received of downloading new tones from the customtone.com website to upload and use in the app. I have not found this to be true. The customtone page does not list the Spider V and when I try and download a tone I get a message that says "Valid product registration or software purchase required to use CustomTone. I have registered my Spider and so this message is quite confusing Love my Spider but please work out the kinks.

Hello I'm thinking about and buying a Variax Standard at my local music store but the seller tells me that the software is not include. Can you download the software (Workbench)? Does it work?

I want to install the pod studio UX1 on my new computer so i downloaded and istalled the driver for win10 from the site. How can i download the software pod Farm & Cubase LE 8 for win10 for free? I have the original disks including the serial number but the disks do not fit into Windows 10 64 bit. tnxs, hagi -
So I haven't updated my Helix once since I bought it and I'm still on v1.04.3 firmware. How do I backup all my presets on Helix? - the new editor I downloaded just shows me a message saying that my firmware is out of date so does that mean I can't back it up there? and if I can't with the this version of the editor is it possible to find that editor version still somewhere to save all my presets/ factory restore my helix/ and then update and upload the backup to my helix? Thank you.

I'm about to sell my UX8 because I just don't do any recording anymore. My question is in regards to the software that came with the device. I still have the software disks that originally shipped with the device, but I'm not sure whether or not the software licenses can be transferred to the new owner. Will he be able to just install the PodFarm and GearMonkey (or whatever they're called) software from the disks and authenticate it since he'll have the physical unit plugged in, or would he have to purchase licenses to use the software?

Hi, I am about to buy a used UX2 from Amazon and I am not sure if the software is with it or not. Can this software that lists with it (or other software) be downloaded. I am especially interested in Ableton live or recording software that comes with it or might be useful (example drum software, etc)? Thank you! -
Hello, I'm a line 6 / Variax newbie I have been given a Variax 500 with a view to purchasing, the guitar has the USB interface, which displays two green lights when all connected via usb interface, however I have downloaded Workbench HD and when this software is activated a window pops up explaining that this software is only compatible with later model guitars. Is there a way of accessing workbench to experiment with the guitar setup, do I need to use certain Line 6 products to enable this, or is this model of variax simply redudunt from a software perspective? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm considerably out of my knowledge depth! Cheers.

Hi All, New to the forum. I have had my Amp setup for 3 years now. I bought a new (secondhand) guitar that has renewed my enthusiasm to pick up a guitar again. It seems though there are other plans afoot! I jumped online to see if there were any updates for the pedal and amp and sure enough there is! First thing I did was renew my password to login (as I forgot). Then I made sure I downloaded Line 6 sotware: Licence manager, Monkey, FBV controller & Spider Edit to my Macbook Pro. So I had everything powered off. I plugged in my Cat cable to the Amp & Pedal. I plugged in the USB between the Mac & Pedal. Turned amp on and powered laptop and logged into Monkey. Monkey found the devices and found the updates required so I downloaded those. Then right at the end of the update it came back with an error message about making sure cables are connected. (which they obviously were as everything was initially talking to each other) Then the amps display said 'Downloading'. So I thought it must have gone through. It said downloading for over an hour so I thought, these are only midi files, they ain't that big! So I tried to reinstall and then it said in the on screen software under Device Firmware, 'Unknown'. I restarted everything again but when I switched the amp back on it still came up with 'Downloading' It was at this point that I knew something had gone wrong for sure. I did a hard reset and cycled the pwr. Nothing. I searched the forums and found the factory reset. I have done that and now all the amp says is 'Ready to Install'. (which I tried but just get error messages about the firmware) If anyone knows a fix for this please please respond. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope! -
Like its predecessors, Windows 10 has a compatibility mode to allow users to run older programs written back when previous versions of Windows were the newest operating system. Right click on the app. Select "Properties". Click the Compatibility tab. Under the banner, a check box will appear next to the text "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" with the options in a drop down menu. The various Windows operating systems will appear, depending on the app. A more involved option is to install a virtual version of the old operating system of your choice (“virtual machine†or "VM") on your computer. This is different than dual-booting a computer, where the user divides/partitions the space on a single hard drive and installs a different operating system on each section, allowing the user to choose which OS is booted when the computer is powered on. The advantage with VM is the ability to run a program in the operating system that it was designed for in the first place. Windows 10 is compatible with Microsoft Virtual PC, a virtualization software that allows Windows users to run multiple versions of Windows, all the way back to Windows XP. This is a free download from the Microsoft Download Center. Microsoft provided a free copy of Windows XP to run in Windows 7 Pro. Pro versions of Windows 8.1 include Hyper-V to host alternative operating systems. Otherwise, Oracle’s (formerly Sun’s) VirtualBox and VMWare are some of the more common options available and are accessible for Windows, Mac and Linux users. Mac users can also use Boot Camp and Parallels to access alternate OS versions.

Bought my HD500 in 2012 when the laptop I had was running Windows XP - had no issues. Now that laptop has died and I've tried connecting to 4 different laptops running Windows 7 or 8 and having no success. My own laptop, when I open Monkey, only gives PodXt as an option in the "Please select the Line 6 device you want to configure" drop-down menu. Moving on to my daughter's laptop - I can select HD500 but the software states that I need to download the latest drivers. I do this and nothing changes. I've tried downloading the drivers before I open (or even download) Monkey and still there is no recognition that this has been done. And without the drivers I cannot connect my unit. I've trawled the forums, uninstalled and re-installed, still no joy. Any suggestions would be welcomed

I've had my stuff packed up for a number of years but I finally got around to setting up a jam room again. I got a brand new laptop and installed monkey and liscence manager. I have had and active account all along. When I purchased my X3 Live new I downloaded Gearbox (I think) and POD Farm for free. Are these available for free download anymore? Greg

It would be beneficial for the FX "controller" section in the 500X to add a footswitch parameter to allow the control of the speed function when using the rotary drum and horn (Leslie). So far the programming allows Exp 1, Exp 2, Variax volume, Variax tone or off. I have gotten the pedal to control speed from parameter zero to 100, (using exp 1 or 2 reserved for the pedal) allowing a varying speed for the Leslie effect. To be clear, I am requesting the addition of selecting a footswitch (in addition to the exp 1 and 2, Variax tone or volume or off) to select the drum/horn speed from slow to fast. I have also heard that plugging in an external Expression pedal may do this. As would an on off switch plugged in to the external expression switch on the rear. I do not wish to add another external item, or I would use outboard volume and a Cry Baby pedal to free up the internal exp 1 and 2. Thank you

I am looking for a multi effect pedal and the amplifi fx1000 has a big chance to be bought by me. I have an iMac but i can not find any software to make and change the effects of the amplifi fx1000. In video's they are always using iPads. Is there such an app or program for Mac? Is it possible to use the amplifi with only a Mac?

Hi, I have a HD100 and saved my sounds using the software Spider Valve MkII Edit. I wonder if there is any POD I can use for smaller gigs where I can upload the sounds from the HD100 that brings me the same sounds. Can anybody tell? Thanks in advance, Andreas -
Hey guys, I recently got a POD HD500. I've finally managed to get the edit software to open and change tones about. My friend got a pod hd500 before me, and I dialled his tone in. I tried to manually dial the same thing in, but it sounds terrible in comparison. SO, i took the tone, put it onto my laptop and send it to MY pod, it STILL sounds horrible. Whats going on??? Is this a software issue???????

I've found no help in searching the interweb but I want to download the jason richardson tone pack for pod farm because my drummer has it, and put the tones on my POD HD. Maybe someone can clarify how this is done, if it even can be, before i drop the 40 bucks on some damn tones. Thanks for any help in advance

Hello! First time posting here! I had bought a Pod X3 Live a couple of years ago but never went on with using it that much due to lack of time. I now have more time to dedicate to it so I tried incorporating it into my setup, I have some questions about the software in the computer however. As I understand, Gearbox is the GUI editor for the Pod series that changes, in real time, the parameters on the Pod, which I can monitor through an amp or with headphones. Other than using the outputs into the inputs of my soundcard, is there any other way I could monitor it through my computer rather than having to plug the headphones on the pod? Also, how can I set it up as a soundcard, in order to transmit either the clean or the processed signal of the guitar/bass/vocals etc? I suppose through the USB connection, right? Finally, what exactly is Podfarm? I understand that it is not a real-time graphical editor for the Pod but rather something like a software version of the Pod's processing capabilities, like a "Pod in a computer". In this case, is it any different than the X3 series? How is it meant to be used together with the Pod X3? Thank you in advance for your help and sorry for any stupid questions! Just got my 2nd L3T to go with my JTV 69 and HD 500x... Traded in 2 Mackie 450v2s and an 1801 sub. I currently am using a Presonus 16.4.2 and got the Studio One Professional software to go with it... Wondering if the files from the M20D can be edited by the Presonus software. I actually was able to do some nice recordings with it, and have some $$ invested in it, so as I think of going to the M20D I'm wondering if I also need different software. Thanks! Larry -
I'm tryin to download some new presets to my pod using line 6 monkey 1.65 (also i have latest software on pod) - but there is an error: invalid tone file specified some files are working, some not, what's the problem? format of file is .l6t as always on x3 live look at screenshot below
