  1. So I've been playing guitar for a few years now, but I never really got around to learning how to make the "perfect" patch or sound for me, and honestly I still get lost when it comes to finding a good sound. I know about this^ website providing patches from other users, but honestly they sound good until you start playing with other instruments. I own a Schecter Blackjack SLS with the Floyd Rose and Sustaniac, with a Seymour Duncan TB-10 Full Shred Humbucker on the Bridge. I play at my church so I would really appreciate if someone could help me out on figuring out a sound that would sound good with this guitar and also sound good live. I will be plugged into the system, not an amp. Next week is my church's anniversary so I want to have a really good sound by then, for those that decide to help me, I am trying to look the basics, a clean patch, rhythm patch, and a solo patch, and for those that have experience with playing at a church, i am not looking for a sound like hillsong, at our church we like to play a little more "rock." Thanks.
  2. Hey everyone, Firstly, thanks for spending some of your time to give me a bit of help. I've recently moved country, and a friend gave me some speakers as a house warming gift. Problem is, they only have a single auxiliary input, and my UX1 has stereo outputs (quarter inch). WIth my previous speakers back in the U.K., it was simple. I had a cable which connected from the stereo 1/4 inch outputs, to stereo RCA, which I just plugged into the speaker set directly. No problems - stereo to stereo. Now I have bought an adapter to mix the stereo 1/4 inch down into a single auxiliary cable. The problem is, I think I am missing audio this way. Namely, when I test the configuration in windows sound (i.e. playback devices > line 6 UX1) and click to test the speakers, it plays the test sound for the left speaker, but not for the right speaker. However, if I take my aux cable, plug it directly into my computers port, and test, it will play the test sound through both speakers. I don't get why mixing down the stereo to an auxiliary with the UX1 causes only one speaker to work, because surely my computer is mixing the stereo into a single auxilary cable, yet it is still coming out of both speakers. Hope this makes sense. Is there any work around? Or does a UX1 just always require you to keep a stereo to stereo configuration? And buy speaker hardware which has a stereo input option? Cheers everyone. :D Joe.
  3. My USB keeps disconecting from my computer. Sound from the computer to Helix goes out from the audio interface. The control panel says "Helix not connected" and I lose control of the Helix from the App, The only fix is to reboot the helix. I have tried 4 different USB cables and 3 different laptops but the problem persists. It seems to be electrical with the Helix. It will sometimes happen just hitting one of the foot switches. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone have a solution?
  4. I bought my Spider V back in April and had nothing but trouble with it since. I have kept it up to date with the latest updates which cured my first problem with cabinet modelling switch. But now i am having more problems. -The built in effects for the reverb channel which intermittently cuts out on certain effects. -The sound, in that sometimes there is no sound coming out from the amp at all, both with the built in speakers (except drums/metronome), my cab, and my other guitarists cab. We spent 20-30 minutes last band practice trying to figure out what was causing the problem only for it to start randomly start working again how it was previously set up. This has happened twice now. -And the lack of power! It's 240watts, it should be enough to crumble the surrounding walls and cause all my band members hearing issues, yet my other guitarists 50watt Randall turned quarter way up sounds louder then the Spider V all the way up. Is anyone else having these problems and feel like they made a big mistake going for the Spider V?
  5. First of: This may not be the right place to start a discussion about this, but .. – everything found in Spider V cloud is a huge disappointment to me, – Line6 Custom Tone (http://de.line6.com/customtone/) doesn't feature Spider V (because of the cloud I guess) – and the Line6 Tone Templates are may be a good starting point, but stay too vague (for me at least) http://de.line6.com/tone-templates/ – The rest of the web is too confusing to me. That's why I want to ask the Spider V community directly. I am just getting into the sound-analysis-and-recreation-thingy and am really struggling to get the hang of it. In whatever I do, at some point the "Aaaha!" moment hits my forhead and I from then begin to control the matrix. But to get there it seems I need your help in this hobby. –––––––––––––––––––––––– GUITAR My Variax JTV69 is on factory Spank 5 (Neck-Pickup is what he mostly uses? Mixed information aswell here) AMP as suggested here http://de.line6.com/data/6/0a06439c160a957be2b16ef3c6/application/pdf I went with the Brit Plexi 200 here. Problem #1: he uses two amp setups. (Hail Helix, babe!) Problem #2: Tone equalizer isn't present in this PDF. What bass, mids and treble? Presence? Drive? I googled and found the amp-eq here: https://m.bonedo.de/artikel/einzelansicht/sound-alike-2-john-frusciante.html Bass 12'clock Mids 2'a'clock Treble 12 Presence 13 This sounds okay. But still faaar away from his sound. The PDF mentions some effects from the Californication tour. Do they apply to Dani California as well? I don't know! :D Even if; the settings are completely missing here. That's what I got so far; I know that the setup is only 50% of what makes the sound, – but if I want a chance on getting the other 50% even half right, I need more on the other 50% to support me and tickle out the best of my hands. What I now want from you guys: 1) (obviously) insight on what effects, knob positions, postEQ, you use for this song 2) maybe some resources or good starting points to get this AHA moment soon! Please be gentle with me, partypeople :) I'm learning and highly motivated to do it on my own next time! Thank you very much, Louis PS: These are some huuuuge paragraph margins :D
  6. Hi guys since yesterday i am an owner of the Helix after at least a year of studiying the system and its potential. I've seen alot of videos and listen to its sound so many times. I know that the Helix is not the best sounding system out there but got me with its overall package. Yesterday I unboxed the system and pluged it right into my home cinema sound system and into my PC using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface. But at the moment im a bit disapointed with the sound i get. It seem to sound extremly thin. Not full range or anything just pretty thin although the base and all seem to be outputed. I had the hope that the Helix might get me a valve amp like sound to more full and mid heavy sounding. The Helix out of the box seem to sound pretty high freq. heavy and pretty digital sounding. That is what i heard in a lot of reviews too. But i heard so many guys playing on the Helix and it sounded pretty good and all. Did you guys had to do alot of tweaking and stuff to get this thing to sound actually good ? I know i have to go with IRs to get the most out of the system and hope i get my hands on IRs in the next few days. But maybe you have some usefull tips on setting this bad boy up to sound not too digital. The point that bugs me the most is that almost every Amp und distortion Pedal seem to sound the same with this high gain characteristic. Any advise on tuning the system ? I know from my start with my last multi-effects system that i need some time to get used to the Helix.
  7. I've have this amp only a week and there is no sound coming from it. Tried factory reset already. Anyone run into this problem that was resolvable without having to send it to service center? Any info would be appreciated.
  8. Hi Guys, I've got a few of our band's songs recorded on my M20d ('inputs and main mix' on my SD card), and when I'm sitting at home using them to soundcheck our Nexo gig PA, I notice that, whenever a channel has audio recorded, if there's signal present, there's a realtime spectrum analyser wave jumping around on the screen in behind the settings, when I'm in the deep tweak section of the 6 band EQ setting. This is on my vocal mic channel, as I'm trying to tweak the sound of it. Is this just for display purposes of what realtime frequencies are firing, or is there some tangible/operational way it can be utilised to improve sound?
  9. I have a line 6 spider 4 15 watt amp that i bought from a friend of myn. When i first got it worked perfectly. afer a few weeks i noticed that the sound was dull and it was not the volume becuase i turned it up. Out of frustration i hit the top of the amp and the sound got louder nd clearer for a few seconds. Thats when i was sure that something was wrong. I can not seem to find what is the problem and i am hoping that someone here can help me. Thanks.
  10. Hi there I just got the line 6 pod 2 and was wondering if anybody knows where can I get Marshall distortion and clean sound settings, will be easy for me just to copy some of them, Im trying to avoid the download stuff in the computer seems to complicated, all the information provided will be really appreciated, Thanks :)
  11. I apologize if this topic has already been addressed. If so, please help and direct me to the information that was discussed. Thank you! When connecting my Firehawk 1500 via the Main XLR outputs on the back to my PA system (Behringer X18 iOS Live Sound Console), I am getting a clipping sound through the PA speaker. As I play and listen simultaneously to what is coming out of the PA and what is coming out of the Firehawk 1500, the clipping sound is only coming out of the PA speaker, not coming out of the Firehawk 1500. I will say that I first experienced this issue while running a mono output from the Firehawk 1500, but there should still not be any clipping even if I run a mono output feed. I have the gain on the mixer turned down very low to where it is almost off and there is still a clipping sound. This is not a grounding issue so I do not need the Ground Lift activated. I already checked that while troubleshooting. I troubleshooted with other XLR cables; all still with the same clipping result occurring. It is not a cable issue. If anyone has had any issue similar to what I am currently dealing with and had a resolve, please let me know exactly how you solved this issue. I will answer any questions that are posed. Thank you! Charlie
  12. Hello all, I got my Helix yesterday, and needless to say I've had nothing but issues so far. I plugged it in and plugged my headphones in, and started playing. I noticed the signal would cut in and out every few seconds or so, so I unplugged the headphones... only to notice the tip of the headphone connector was still stuck inside the unit (which I do not blame on the Helix at all!). I was able to remove it luckily. Today, I just can't get any kind of signal into or out of the Helix. I've done numerous resets, and reinstalled the newest version of Helix firmware. Nothing. I have everything (headphones, guitar, USB to computer) plugged in exactly like I did yesterday when I got the unit and had sound, but nothing. Also yesterday, I connected the unit through USB to my Windows 10 desktop, and I was able to hear my computers sound through the headphone jack on the Helix. I can't even get that to work today. Any tips? I really wanna mess with the unit, but not in the fashion of repeated troubleshooting and the like. Thanks! CBpunk16
  13. Is is just me or has the sound of the cabs been improved in 2.0(1)? In my experience I really needed to use the High Cut on the cabs before 2.0(1) and set them to between 4Khz and 6Khz. Now if I choose a new cab (or so with cab) it sounds just fine. It actually seems there's not much happening to the sound if I do a high cut on them. Anyone else having the same experience?
  14. There are a lot of promotional videos from Line6, and they all sound much better than any preset I created with my new Helix. Jack Thammarat e. g. shows how to create a lead tone for Helix: I reproduced everything like shown in this video, I also used an Fender Stratocaster – but my patch sounds not as good as in the video. Much less brilliant and not as much like an tube amp in this video. Well, Jack Thammarat wrote he recorded the sound directly via USB … I can't believe it. Are there any tricks to get my guitar and Helix sound better? Preamps? Post production? Other things? Has anyone any suggestions? Ulf
  15. Hello everyone, I'm here to ask if it is safe to upgrade to windows 10 and my X3 will work; I've read of people having trouble with W10 so, to this day, have all those problems been fixed? by the way, do I need to uninstall everything from line 6, upgrade and then install again the proper drivers and all? thank you! pod x3's still an awesome tool!
  16. hello i cant get any sound from my guitar. i simplified it and went straight through pod farm i can see the sound bars at top right move when i strum but no sound. im using a pod ux2

  18. If you're having charging issues, please make sure you seat the transmitter completely into the receiver, otherwise the transmitter will not charge. For more details, see this article: Relay G10 FAQ We have designed the G10 transmitter to fit into almost any guitar. However, we anticipate that there will be some rare cases where the transmitter does not fit into a given guitar. If the G10 transmitter is inserted into your guitar and the transmitter's actuator pin is not engaged, the transmitter will not turn on, and the LED on the transmitter will not light up. In some rare cases, the guitar’s active electronics are wired with inverse polarity. In this scenario, the transmitter's electronics can go into a protection mode that keeps the system from being functional. This is evidenced by no output from the G10, even though the transmitter's light is on. We have found that a workaround to both of these issues is to use a mono-to-mono (TS-TS) Male to Female adaptor. More details and a troubleshooting procedure can be found at http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/live-sound/relay-digital-wireless/relay-g10-guitar-compatibility-fitelectronics-r817. If these issues affect you, we encourage you to post the following information so that we can better understand the scope of the issue and the effectiveness of the solution: Guitar manufacturer Guitar model Does it fit and turn on? Do you hear audio? Does the adaptor solution resolve the issue?
  19. My Spider IV-150 has developed an issue where about 10 seconds into a switched preset, the volume of the preset drops about 25%. This happens with all presets. Initially when this issue began, overdrive presets 10 seconds after selection, would switch to a line-level, clean tone... almost as if no preset were selected at all. After taking it to a tech that used to work for Line 6, he couldn't make it happen in shop (no surprise there). But he suggested doing a firmware update through Line 6 Monkey. I did that and now the presets don't switch to that weird, clean tone. The presets keep the sound but drop in volume about 25% after 10 seconds. I just tried doing another firmware update but Monkey says the amp and MK-III pedal are up to date. Is anyone experiencing this issue? And if so, how did you remedy the problem? Can anyone recommend a good tech that really can trouble shoot and work on Line 6 gear in the LA, Orange County, San Diego County areas? Thanks
  20. I've recently got problems with a clicking noise when I use my POD HD500X. At first I suspected my guitar, so I made sure everything was tightened properly. It didn't help, and I also noticed that I get this noise from all of my other instruments. It doesn't matter if I use the mono outputs, headphones or use the POD as audio interface. I've tried to reinstall all software with Line6 Monkey, and the problems remain. Here's a video describing my problems: I'd appreciate all kinds of suggestions for solving this :)
  21. I usually run my guitar through numerous tones I have created myself using Pod Farm (most are distorted), about a week ago I ran the program and the tone I would usually use and it sounded clean rather than distorted. I tried other tones to see if the issue would happen, and it did! I've tried plugging and unplugging it back in, different guitars and cables etc etc. But the issue still happens! It seems to be an uncommon issue because I've been searching for answers but none have come up! Anyone else hear about this problem?
  22. I'm looking at buying a Firehawk FX. However, I'd really like to be able to use some patches that were made for the Pod HD500x. Is this possible? If not this is going to make my decision between the Firehawk and Pod very difficult.
  23. Hello guys, I just bought the POD HD Pro X and I have a problem. The patches I downloaded from youtube people (Ola Englund, Fluff) and the patches I bought from a guy that sound awesome in their demos sound very harsh, thin and have no punch at all on my device. (They all used the HD Pro, does that matter? but USB aswell and no post processing) I use a Schecter Hellraise C-1 with active EMGs (and have the PAD button pressed), USB connection, headphones (monitors already ordered) and a PC with WIndows 10 and all Line 6 drivers installed. 24. Hi guys, I have a TonePort Ux1 and for too much time I got a problem. So, I aways record my guitar in a RAW perfectly when I use a amp (plugged in Phones line) to execute the sound. But when I plug my Headphone (I tested several head phones and adapters and always with the same problem) it sounds distorted and often it works in just one side of the phones I tested. I tried everything and didn't get any solution. The Ux1 really don't work with adapters converters? I want too much play and mix hearning the sound on headphones but I cant. Any solution?
  25. Ok, it's pretty specific, but I'll give it a go. Maybe someone on here that's a lot smarter than I (which is all of you) can explain to me exactly what's going on here... cuz I'd love to know. https://youtu.be/yzvozz2C9qo?t=4m29s At 4:33, on the right channel, there's a growl / grind sound that is just fricken amazing to me. What's going on there? Is that the amp cranked up and a speaker ready to blow? I can't tell. Nor can I tell the amp or guitar combo, because Pearl Jam layers their guitars so well. I'd love to be able to get something similar with the Helix. I'm guessing it's through a Les Paul (which I do have). Any help would be appreciated!
