  1. I recently purchased a POD HD500 and love it. I now need a speaker for it. Now I live in apartment so that is also to be considered. I have played it thru my Peavey Vypyr but looking for much better than what that has to offer, I even tried it through my Klipsch computer speakers, but need more headroom. I have considered an active PA speaker but when I looked at those they are 800+ watts and me being in an apartment not sure if that is the way to go or not. I have also considered the Tech21 power Engine. Now I do have a EVH 5150-III 1x12 cab but no power amp. So what would you guys suggest?
  2. sorry for stupid questions, but this is all new to me. I don't want to pay for a real combo amp or amp/cab if i only intend or care to hear sounds from the POD's amp modelers. Can i connect the pos direct to a 1x12 speaker cabinet or does the speaker cabinet itself require an external amp to function?
  3. The right speaker in my Spider II amp goes "in and out". I've noticed that if I go to a volume above 5, both speakers work, but below, the right speaker has problems. Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot and fix this problem?
  4. HOLA! I am looking for ways to create sounds in my hd500 to be as real as possible. I mean, I want to be sure to be listening to the right thing. It happened that after editing a sound (I thought right) then I found very different in other audio systems. I know, it is normal that the systems audio sound distinct from one enclosure to another, even more if they are different systems. The aim: Same possibilities to create a sound as if a real amp in my house. Which is the best? Headphones? Professional Monitors? Home monitors? Another thing? Thank you very much to all!
  5. I'm getting another head anyways, but I wanted to plug the cab in the the "headphone out" are in my amp, I tried it for 10 mins and the Celestion speaker in it sounds a wee bit better than the one in my Spider. My only concern is that it's a 40watt speaker and my amp is 75watts. Am I correct in assuming it will hurt my amp?
  6. Hello guys. I bought line 6 ux2 and I want to hear my guitar through my pc speakers. How can I connect them?
  7. The LINE6 L3TM SPEAKER BAG arrived today. I like to share some pictures with you and discuss a feature for these bags. Overall the bag looks solid enough to handle the L3t speaker wherever I play. But sadly somebody at Line6 missed to design a feature I did expect to come along with the bag: A lot of musicians play HD Pods with the L3t speakers because it´s a great sounding and very flexible combination to play live with. -- > Bass/Guitar->HD POD->L6->L3t --> :-)) When I ordered the bag I did expect that you can open the front of the bag when playing a gig or jamming someplace as well as the top of the bag. Why? Because you don't have to unpack the L3t speaker when plugging in your HD500 (via L6 Link Cable). But as you can see on the photos: You can`t open the front. And you can´t customize the bag because you then have to destroy the the speaker protection material that is inside the bag. Flip your screen an take a look at the photos. Maybe you see what I am trying to say: Will Line6 change this / add this feature if only enough of us are asking for this?
  8. Hello all, Several days ago, I received an LD15 bass amp from eBay and was able to actually start using it. Yes, I got burned on this purchase. When trying it out on two different basses and cords (just to make sure it wasn't any of my equipment), the amplifier continues to make a rattling noise primarily on the "E" string (though the "A" string is also affected at times). Never did I try to "crank" the volume of the amp; I didn't take it past the twelve o'clock position. Even turning down all knobs fully left except for the master (which was only turned to about 4 on the clean setting), the amp still makes an annoying rattling noise. The rattling is about as loud as the note being played. I realize that it is only a 15 Watt amplifier, but it still should allow me to play louder than essentially a whisper without the distinct rattling noise. I have turned all of the dials to various levels to see if that was the problem, and much to my dismay, I was not able to produce a healthy tone from this amp. Today, I took it to a reputable instrument and audio shop to have it looked at, and they told me that the speaker is essentially completely broken and will not function at louder volumes. They were able to tell me that there is nothing electronically wrong with it; the problem has been isolated to being a "busted" or "blown out" speaker. I had not even put any of the volume knobs past the recommended "12 o' clock" setting at any given point. Needless to say, this is very upsetting. Now I am looking at buying a new speaker for this device because I am sure I would really like the device if it were to work. My question is, first, how many ohms is this amp? Secondly, would fitting it with a new speaker rated higher in terms of wattage adversely affect the amp? (such as replacing it with a 20 or 25 W speaker) Thank you for reading this and assisting me.
  9. Hello, i own a line 6 ux1 and i was wondering if i could use my Logitech X-540 5.1 Speaker System as monitors. Of course i don't want to use 5.1 but i guess i could just leave 2 speakers + the sub.Can this work? Will this setup give me clear and descent results or studio monitors is the only way? If i can use them my logitech how do i connect them in my ux1(i noticed they have a single output). Thanks in advance.

  11. Français Deutsch Q: Where can I find product manuals and specifications for the StageSource speakers? A: Product manuals and specifications for the StageSource L3t can be found Here. Product manuals and specifications for the StageSource L3s can be found Here. Q: How do I use the StageSource L3t or L3m? A: Check out our video tutorial " ". We also have examples of some common ways to setup the StageSource speakers available Here. Q: Why can't I hear anything from the middle driver on my L3t or L3m? A: The upper woofer always plays below 250Hz. The lower woofer works with the HF driver with a crossover that varies between 2.2 kHz and 7 kHz, depending on the chosen speaker mode. The details for these specs are listed here. Q: What are Smart Speaker Modes? A: The StageSource L3t and L3m use six powerful DSP-based Smart Speaker modes optimized for a variety of performance scenarios including front-of-house PA, floor monitor, personal PA, keyboard backline, acoustic guitar backline, or with a multi-effects guitar processor as a high-performance electric guitar speaker system. The six available Smart Speaker Modes are: Reference/P.A. - Reference/P.A. mode is for live sound reinforcement and features a flat frequency response, a 2.2kHz crossover frequency and maximum low-frequency extension. This mode is the optimal reference setting, whether your cabinet is mounted on a tripod, on stage or installed as part of a larger multi-component system. Playback - Playback mode is optimized for pre-recorded music. Functionally, Playback mode is similar to P.A. mode but includes an EQ curve that emphasizes extreme low and high frequencies, making it well-suited for playing back music from a CD or MP3 player, or for DJ applications. Floor Monitor - Floor Monitor mode is similar to P.A. mode with a slight reduction in low frequency content to counteract coupling when placing the speaker on the floor. If the speaker is powered on while in a horizontal position, Floor Monitor speaker mode will be selected automatically, you can then change to a different mode, if desired. Keyboards - Keyboard Mode optimizes the L3t for use as backline amplification for a keyboard rig. This mode features a flat frequency response with a 3.5kHz crossover frequency, adding more relative energy to the cone and providing a warmer response that is pleasant for instruments. This mode also provides Virtual Tilt-back, which optimizes the speaker’s tuning to achieve an upward tilt to its main axis and aim the sound towards the performer. Acoustic Guitar - Acoustic Guitar mode is optimized to provide a warm and balanced full-range amplification experience for acoustic instruments. This mode also features a 3.5kHz crossover frequency, with a custom-tailored low-frequency response to minimize “boominess” than can occur when amplifying acoustic instruments. Acoustic Guitar mode provides Virtual Tilt-Back, which optimizes the speaker’s tuning to achieve an upward tilt to its main axis and aim the sound towards the performer. Electric Guitar - Electric Guitar Mode was designed to accommodate the modern guitarist who uses a multi-effects floorboard device such as the Line 6 POD®. Rather than sending the signal from the guitarist’s floorboard to an amplifier and then mic’ing the amp, this L3t mode features an overall frequency response that emulates the sound of a 212 combo amp. The dual 10” speakers play full range, with the horn adding only the smallest amount of sparkle to the sound. Q: Will StageSource L3t and L3m function as a floor monitor? A: The StageSource L3t and L3m feature two sets of kickstands that can be used to angle the speakers upwards towards the performer. The two back-panel kickstands flip out, allowing the L3t and L3m to be angled upwards at 60°, the side mounted carrying handle doubles as a kickstand as well, allowing the L3t and L3m to be angled upwards at 30°. The StageSource L3t and L3m both include a smart speaker mode optimized for using the loudspeaker as a floor monitor. If the speaker is powered on while in a horizontal position, Floor Monitor speaker mode will be selected automatically. Check out our video tutorial on " " to see how to how to use the built in kickstands. Q: How does the L6 Link Network work with the StageSource speakers? A: Check out our video tutorial " ". When connecting speakers together in a L6 Link network, we recommend using 110-ohm AES/EBU XLR cables. Q: Can the StageSource speakers be pole mounted? A: The StageSource L3t and L3m both feature a pole mount that accommodates standard 35 mm diameter speaker poles. The L3s features three threaded pole mounts (one on top, two on the right side) to accommodate Line 6 M20 threaded speaker poles. The M20 threaded speaker pole part numbers are: Short pole - for mounting an L3t/L3m tower (Part # 98-037-0003) Long pole - for mounting an L3t/L3m tower (Part # 98-037-0004) Q: What is the proper method for suspending the StageSource speakers? A: The StageSource L3t and L3m provide four threaded M10 attachment points for suspension and one threaded M10 attachment point for pull-back and aiming the speaker. These are designed to allow for suspending the loudspeaker only by a qualified professional familiar with safe rigging practices. Improper installation may result in damage to the speaker or support structure, or injury or death. WARNING! If you are unfamiliar with suspending loudspeakers, consult an authorized, qualified professional prior to installation. WARNING! Before rigging or suspending any loudspeaker product, inspect all rigging hardware, cabinets, attachment points, transducers, and associated peripherals. Any absent, warped, or non-load rated equipment could seriously compromise the strength of the installation and should be immediately corrected. WARNING! Always follow all municipal building codes, as well as any local, state, and federal safety guidelines regarding the installation and operation of loudspeakers and associated peripherals. Always use two attachment points on either the top or bottom of the L3t/L3m The rear panel pull-back attachment point is only for aiming the speaker downwards (see illustration below); it is not to be used as a load-bearing suspension point. For permanent installations, use only the Line 6 eyebolt kit (Part # 98-037-0005). Q: Can I use a different crossover with the StageSource speakers? A: Using an external crossover is not recommended when using L3t tops with L3s subs. Simply connecting the pair via Line 6 link activates the precision engineered internal crossover and DSP. However when matching the L3t speaker system with a 3rd party subwoofer an external crossover may be necessary. In this case, connect the Main outputs of your mixer into your crossovers inputs. Connect the high/mid frequency output of the crossover to the rear panel Line Level Input of the L3t or L3m loudspeaker, than connect the low frequency output of the crossover into the line input of a self-powered subwoofer system or into the power amp that powers your passive subwoofer cabinet. Q: Can I install a different speaker driver into the StageSource speaker cabinet? A: The speaker drivers used are specifically designed for the speaker cabinets and speaker modes used with the StageSource series. Changing the speaker drivers can effect reliability and performance and will void the manufacturer warranty. Q: Where do I register my new StageSource speakers? A: Line 6 products can be registered to your Line 6 User account Here. Q: Where can I find out more information about Live Sound? A: Check out our Live Sound Resources and Live Sound Glossary of Terms. Die sechs verfügbaren Smart Speaker Modi sind: Reference/P.A.: Der Reference/P.A. (Nummer 98-037-0003) "Long pole" – Zum Aufbau eines L3t/L3m Turmes. 14. Deutsch Français Q: How do I access the tuner? Spider Tuner FAQs Q: How do I save the Artist/Song presets from the Spider III/IV into the user banks so I can access those presets from my FBV series controller? A: Hold the desired Channel button (A B C D) for two seconds, then use the four-way arrow selector to choose the bank (number) and location (A, B, C or D) where you want to save the preset to. Select the channel button again, and you will see a rapid flash on the channel light to show the preset has been saved. Q: How do I operate the "boost" on the Spider series amplifier? Spider I, II, and III: The Spider Distortion Boost is activated by holding down the “tap tempo” button while rotating the “drive” control above the 12 o'clock position. The B light will illuminate to indicate that the boost is active. Spider IV: The boost feature can be edited by pressing the presets encoder, then using the right/left function on the four-way arrow selector to select “boost”. You can then activate the feature, increase or decrease the amount of boost (up to 8 db), and select “pre” and/or “post”. This can be activated from the FBV Shortboard MK II by the “fucntion 1” button, and the Effect Loop button the FBV Shortboard (Mk I). Q: How do I operate the Noise Gate on the Spider series amplifier? Spider III: Press and hold Tap as you turn the Reverb knob up past twelve o’clock, and you turn on a built-in Noise Gate, which helps to cut down on hiss and noise. When you do this, the Channel D LED comes on to indicate that the Gate is on. Spider IV: The Noise Gate feature can be edited by pressing the “presets” encoder, then using the right/left function on the four-way arrow selector to select “gate”. You can then choose from “Off”, “Gate”, “Noise Reduction”, or “Gate + Noise Reduction”. Use the up/down arrows to select Threshold and Decay, which are adjustable with the Presets encoder. Q: Is there a way to control the amount of effect mix repeats the delay effect makes? Spider I, II, and III: we decided to remove some of the editing capabilities and make it as simple as possible. In addition, we wanted to make it as affordable as possible, and removing some of the edit features was one of the ways that we were able to keep the cost lower. This being the case, you cannot change the delay feedback rate on the Spider. Spider IV: The delay repeats (feedback) can be edited by pressing the presets encoder, turning to “FX3”, the using the up/down arrows to “FdBk”. You can then increase or decrease the amount of feedback by turning the preset encoder, as well as the delay time and mix. Q: Every time I switch to a certain amp model the delay comes on - how can I stop this? Spider I, II, and III: When you select an Amp Model, the Spider automatically sets its tone controls and effects to match that Amp Model. You can disable the auto-FX selection (but not tone control auto-selection), by powering up Spider with the Channel D/Insane button held. Be aware that the auto-selection is re-enabled next time you power up. If you absolutely never want to hear a particular effect (such as delay), you can turn the SmartFX knob to 'Off', then press and hold a channel button until it blinks, and you've saved a new version of the sound, without any effects. Spider IV: The Auto effect feature can be enabled by pressing the presets encoder, then using the right/left function on the four-way arrow selector to select “autoFX”. You can then activate the feature, as well as turn the tap light on/off and set the timer for the display backlight. Q: Why does the tap tempo light always blink? Can I turn the tap tempo light off? Spider I, II, and III 75-150: The tap tempo light shows the tempo of the delay, even if the delay is not active. There is no way to disable the tap tempo light on the Spider I, II, or III Series amplifiers. Spider IV 75-150: The tap tempo light is assignable to the modulation and delay effects, and shows the tempo of the assigned effect. The tap feature can be enabled by pressing the presets encoder, then using the right/left function on the four-way arrow selector to select your effect, then using the up/down arrow to locate “tap”. The tap feature can be enabled or disabled by turning the “presets” encoder, then using the right/left function on the four-way arrow selector to select”setup”. You can then use the up/down arrows to locate “Taplite”, and de-activate the tap light feature by turning the preset encoder. Q: Can I connect my Spider series combo amp (i.e. 15, 30, 75, 120) to an external speaker cabinet? A: No, as there is no external speaker jack to power an external cabinet. The Spider series 150 combo amplifier does have two 8 ohm external speaker outputs that will mute the internal speakers when engaged. See the following link for more cabinet connection information: Line 6 Head and Cabinet Connections Q: How can I record direct the Spider series amp signal directly into a computer? A: You can use the headphone jack as a direct line out to record your Spider series amplifier into any line input on your computer's sound card or audio interface. For sound card connection, you will need a cable with one male stereo 1/4" jack on one end-to plug into the headphone jack of the Spider, and a male 1/8" stereo mini jack-like (the kind on Ipod type headphones) to plug into the sound card. This will work for most computer sound cards, as they often have 1/8" stereo mini inputs and outputs. If you have an audio interface or a professional sound card that have multiple 1/4" inputs, you will need a cable with one male 1/4" TRS (stereo) jack on one end, and two male 1/4" mono jacks on the other end (commonly known as an “insert cable”) to create a stereo image. Take care in setting the output level on your amp: adjust the master volume to get the cleanest and most noise-free sound when the volume control on the toolbar of your computer is on full, with the volume control on your computer speakers set to normal, reasonable listening levels. If you set the output level on your amp too high, the sound will be undesirably distorted. Set it too low and the sound will be noisy. All you need then is some sort of recording software, of which there are many options available. Q: Is there a way to use the POD-Style Out (headphone) jack without disabling the speakers? A: There is no supported way to run both the speakers and the headphone jack at the same time. Q: Can I use an external effects pedal or processor with a Spider series amplifier? A: Effects pedals will almost always work well in front of the Spider series amplifiers. Just be certain that the output level of the external effect is not set too high as it could overload the input of the Spider. Most rack-mount processors are designed for line level use and often don't sound quite right when connected to the front of an amplifier. Q: Can I use a MIDI controller with a Spider amp? A: The Spider series amplifiers do not have MIDI In or Out connections, but the Spider Valve Mark II does have MIDI jacks. We recommend that you use the correct Line 6 controller with your Spider series amplifier. Q: Do any of the Spider Series amplifiers have an effects loop? A: The Spider series (I, II, III, IV) amplifiers are not equipped with an effects loop, but the Spider Valve (I or II) series does have an effect loop. Q: Can I edit/backup my Spider sounds on my computer? A: The Spider IV series amplifier can be edited with the Spider IV Edit Software. The previous Spider series (I, II, III) tone editing must be done on the face of the unit, as there is no computer editor for the earlier Spider series. See the following link for more information on the Spider Edit software: Spider IV Edit (v1.02) FAQs Q: Which controller will work with my Spider series amp? Ont-ils on Effects Loop ? 15. Français Deutsch Q: What are the input connections for the Spider Cabinet? A: The left or right input (single cable) connection is 4 ohms, with all four (4) speakers active. When both cables are used there will be an 8 ohm load on each side, using two (2) speakers for each side. Q: How should the Spider head be connected to the Spider cabinet? Spider II/III HD 75 - The HD75 is a mono head, which will have the same 75 watt/4 ohm total output when using one or two speaker cables between the head and cabinet. Spider II/III/IV HD 150: - The stereo outputs of the Spider 150 HD Series are rated at 8 ohms per side. You will need to connect both outputs of the head to both the Spider cabinet inputs. Be sure to use two (2) speaker cables to connect your head to your cabinet to ensure you have the correct ohm load. Be Careful not to use instruement cables to make this connection. Using instrument cables can produce a lower output volume than expected when the master is set between 6 and 9 o'clock, with the master volume is between 9 and 12 o'clock your signal can become extremely distorted, with the master volume at 12 o'clock or higher you will loose output all together. Be aware that the Spider cabinet jacks will produce an impedance of 4 ohms (either left or right jacks) when a single cable is connected, which will damage the Spider 150 HD. Q: Can I use other cabinets besides the Spider cabinet? A: Yes, the Spider HD and 150 (combo) series will work with any standard stereo 4x12 cabinet with two 8 ohm loads. Be aware that many guitar speaker cabinets will not have the flat response speakers found in Spider Cabinets, so the tone may be different than originally intended. A 16 ohm stereo cabinet will sound about 3dB quieter than an 8 ohm cab, but would not damage the Spider HD. A 4 ohm load on the other hand, will damage the Spider HD 150. Q: What are the speakers the Spider 4x12 cabinet? A: The Line 6 Spider cabinet uses four (4) 12" speakers rated at 16 ohm. The custom Celestion speaker manufactuered specifically for Line 6, but a common replacement speaker is the Celestion 70/80 speaker. Q: Is there a video where I can see the Spider Head and cabinet connections? Line 6 Head and Cabinet Connections
