  1. When I change the channel, (clean, crunch, metal, insane) The volume goes up all the way. I already tried factory resetting it, but the problem persists. What can I do to fix this??
  2. Dear community, I am the owner of the Line6 Spider IV 150 amp, and the FBV Express MKII controller. I bought the pedal controller cause I wanted to be able to activate effects (FX) such as delay, gain, and drive with the controller. However, I can only seem to change channel with the controller, which is not what I wanted. I have installed the "Line6 FBV Control" software, but I can't figure out how to set the switches to control these effects. Best wishes, Rikki
  3. Accidentally turning on looper during shows by hitting A & B buttons on FBV Express
  4. Line 6 folks...up your price a bit and make sure that you can update your amps, even without a footboard. Here is why it's smart: I've had an old Spider 212 for years (the old red one). I *LOVE* the sound right out of the box. So I bought a Spider IV half stack, thinking newer and bigger is BETTER!!! Nope. None of the pre-programmed sounds are like the 212, and I spent hours and hours trying to get it to sound as cool as my beat up Spider. So I gave up and stuck the IV in a closet. 4 days ago, I bought a used FBK Express, and took the time to download the editor, Monkey, update all the firmware, register all the products, and learn how to upload custom tones. I am an IT guy, and it took me QUITE a bit of time to get this done. The result? HOLY COW does that amp sound amazing!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it now, where a week ago I was ready to put it on Craigslist. My suggestion, you need to make it easier to load custom tones. Build a USB interface right into the amp. Include the software and instructions in the box. Bump the price to make that feasible. THAT is what sets your amps apart. You should be shouting that flexibility from the rooftops! -Kenny Wickert Former hater of the Spider IV, current lover of the Spider IV
  5. Hi there, After long research i decided to open an own Thread. Im workin a lot with reverb and delays while using my Line 6 Spider IV on stage. Partly im using all 4 (A B C D) Channels through one single song. So my problem: If im switching the channel, delay and reverb get cut off directly. Is there any possibillity in any settings to get them normally faded out if you switch your channel? I know the line 6 helix got some of those features bec i saw it in videos. Ofc its a newer amplifier but maybe theres an option on the spider iv too and im just blind. THX 4 help :)) Greets
  6. If I have a spider IV and a fbv longboard can I use an m13. Are they compatible?
  7. I have a Spider IV 30 watt. I'm unsure how to save a tone I customized. It think I've saved it to channel A. But I now want to put that tone on B, and then put another custom tone to A, so I can switch with foot controller from A to B. When I press B to save the tone, the amp changes to the factory preset that's on B. I've seen instructions for restoring the factory presets, but little on saving your own. I recall seeing instructions to hold one of the buttons down for 2 seconds to save to that channel. Is that right?
  8. I have a problem with my amp and pedal combination. I have a line 6 spider iv 150w and a brand new fbv mkii shortboard. The amp works perfectly when it's not plugged into the short-board and will do everything as expected. Once I plug in the short board I find the amp rebooting or shorting or something. It turns off for a second or two and then turns back on. I then tried plugging the short board into my old spider iv 15w and it worked without cutting the amp. I downloaded line 6 monkey and updated both the short board and the amp (and the amp didn't reboot while the shortbread was plugged into both it and the laptop). I tried swapping the cable between the fbv and the amp and that changed nothing. Not sure what to do now.
  9. Hi All, I uploaded my tone patch for my Turkish/Armenia Oud that I created for my Line 6 Spider IV HD150 head/Line 6 4x12 cab combo. My Oud uses a piezo electric pickup (early '80's Barkus Berry) attached to the Oud face with a thin layer of white "sticky goop", around 1" below the treble side of the bridge. The setup should also work great on a Spanish guitar or the larger Arabic Oud with a similar piezo pickup in the bridge area. In the old days (60's, 70's) we would have used a full tube amp (e.g. Fender Twin-Reverb) with a 1 Megohm input impedance. Solid state amps of that era would have a very thin sound and low fidelity with the low output levels from a non-preamplified piezo pickup. PA systems are similarly crippled by a low imput impedance, thus requiring a solid-state preamp and a lot of "EQ" work to get a decent sound. But I think that I have now captured that great old tube amp sound for the Oud. Use Line 6's Class A Amplifier model with a drive setting of 25. That boosts the piezo pickup output level and fidelity without adding distortion. The Clean amplifier model with a drive of 50 to 65 could also work. 10. Okay so I got a line 6 spider IV amp from my uncle who had a bunch of presets made on his amp by downloading them and making them himself, but i rarely use a bunch of them and want to get ones that I would use more often on my amp. How do I delete certain tones from bundles on Spider IV Edit? I know how to add them but since every slot is filled how do I delete them? Or, how could I transfer tones from one bundle onto an empty one? Thanks
  11. 1. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9TjVU9A148HMFk1QWxud1RHUTQ (Audio Sample) (Or See Attached File) a. I've reset the amp multiple times. b. I've saved channels with the effects turned off. c. Tried messing around with compression, noise gate etc.to no avail. d. I checked to see if the problem was with my guitar; It wasn't. I have no idea why its doing what's it doing. No matter what channel or what settings I may be in, there is a constant "sweep echo" along with a phaser mod running with it. See link to hear it yourself.
  12. Can you use an M13 to change channels on Spider 4 as if it were a FBV? I doubt it from searching around and looking through manuals, but I am hopeful that there's a way to possible do it. Thanks for any insight or help :)
  13. Here are the controls for Spider IV amps (75,120,150, HD150) when using the FBV 3 foot controller. FS1: Boost on/off FS2: FX1 (Gain, Auto, Pitch) FS3: FX2 (Chorus, Phaser, Tremolo) FS4: FX3 (Delay, Tape Echo, Sweep Echo) FS5: Reverb on/off Function: turns on looper mode. Tap button: will start and stop the recording, overdubs, playback within looper mode. NOTE: FBV3 will not work as a computer editing interface for Spider IV amps. FBV Express MKII and FBV Shortboard MKII pedals will work for editing. When using the FBV3 with your Spider IV, make sure you have the latest flash memory (v1.02) installed for your FBV controller. You'll find the Line 6 Updater located here: http://line6.com/software/ Download and install Line 6 Updater, then connect your controller to your Mac or PC with a standard USB cable. Line 6 Updater will ask you to login, and then run the latest update for the controller.
  14. Hey, I just got a quick question. I bought a couple years ago the Line 6 Spider IV 150 (HC+cabinet). Now my HC is damaged and it'll cost too much to fix it. Anyway it's also time to buy me a new HC, and I saw the Line 6 Spider V 240 HC. My quick question is: can you combine the Spider V 240 HC with the Line 6 Spider IV 320W 4x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet
  15. Hi Everyone, I think this problem with the Spider IV 75-150 Watt series has been reported before. I recently upgraded the firmware on my Spider IV head (2015 model) with the Spider FX infusion 2.0 update. The added effects are great ! Many come from the new Spider V. But I can't say that the problem I've encountered is due to the update. I use my Spider IV 150 Watt head, FBV Shortboard MK II, and classic Line 6 4x12 cabinet at home at relatively low volumes, rather than a performance situation. Occasionally, with some presets that I have created or downloaded, if I turn the gain/auto/pitch knob to off (FX1), and then turn it back on (the light will go from yellow back to green), the amplifier volume and/or gain will become uncontrolled and "pinned" to a very high volume level. I can't clear the condition, except by powering down the head, waiting for 15 or so seconds and then powering back up. This is a very dangerous (potentially ear-splitting !) situation. On stage it would be a disaster. For electrical/audio engineers, its akin to the feedback loop on a high gain amplifier going "open-loop", that is, uncontrolled and pinned at the maximum gain. I can't tell whether this is a mechanical problem, like a "noisy" potentiometer, or a code problem with the firmware or operating system in the Spider IV series. Anyway, be aware, have the power strip close to your foot if you are experiencing this problem. Thanks, Mark
  16. Hi all. I've just purchased an FBV 3 board to go with my Spider IV 75. Firstly, I'm not happy that all the literature I've read before purchasing says the board is compatible with the amp. In reality, as I'm sure many of you are finding, this board is barely properly compatible with anything. Aside from the LEDs not working as advertised, I can't use it to update the firmware on the amp (WTF not?!). I also can't update the firmware on the board at the moment because despite it costing just £20 less than the amp itself, there is no USB cable included. How cheap can you get? I was prepared to make my peace with all that until I plugged it in and found, basically, that it didn't work. I'd have been better off playing catch with a kitchen knife than using the supplied manual, so after much pushing of buttons, and turning on & off suddenly, and for no obvious reason, it started working just fine. That was until I dared to use the tuner via the board. Since then basically every button is either unresponsive or takes 6-7 presses to have any effect. The pedal does not switch between volume & wah. I've tried another Ethernet cable which has had no effect. I might just have been unlucky and got a duff product, but I've read enough to suggest not. Can anyone suggest any way for me to fix it, or suggest why I should keep something that is, essentially, useless. I'm just glad I've kept the packaging. Thanks for your help/advice.
  17. I own a line 6 spider iv 15 combo, im thinking of bying a Boss Gt-10. Does the gt-10 is compatible with the amp and how i connect it? (Sorry for bad english)
  18. Hi All, New to the forum. I have had my Amp setup for 3 years now. I bought a new (secondhand) guitar that has renewed my enthusiasm to pick up a guitar again. It seems though there are other plans afoot! I jumped online to see if there were any updates for the pedal and amp and sure enough there is! First thing I did was renew my password to login (as I forgot). Then I made sure I downloaded Line 6 sotware: Licence manager, Monkey, FBV controller & Spider Edit to my Macbook Pro. So I had everything powered off. I plugged in my Cat cable to the Amp & Pedal. I plugged in the USB between the Mac & Pedal. Turned amp on and powered laptop and logged into Monkey. Monkey found the devices and found the updates required so I downloaded those. Then right at the end of the update it came back with an error message about making sure cables are connected. (which they obviously were as everything was initially talking to each other) Then the amps display said 'Downloading'. So I thought it must have gone through. It said downloading for over an hour so I thought, these are only midi files, they ain't that big! So I tried to reinstall and then it said in the on screen software under Device Firmware, 'Unknown'. I restarted everything again but when I switched the amp back on it still came up with 'Downloading' It was at this point that I knew something had gone wrong for sure. I did a hard reset and cycled the pwr. Nothing. I searched the forums and found the factory reset. I have done that and now all the amp says is 'Ready to Install'. (which I tried but just get error messages about the firmware) If anyone knows a fix for this please please respond. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope!
  19. Hello, I'm new to recording so any help is appreciated. I have a Line6 Spider IV 150amp. I am using the Scarlett 2i2 as my interface. I have everything plugged in correctly but no sound through my Monitors. I don't think i downloaded what i needed from Line 6 into my iMac because i had bought my Spider Amp prior to getting my new iMac. Any ideas of what downloads i need to install to get up and running???
  20. When I connect my FVB Express MkII footboard to my spider IV 75 the tune led lights of the FVB spark once and the pedal does not work neither show any sign to be functionall (any led works). I tried with another CAT 5 cable but still have no response. Aditional to this, I can´t update the amp firmware because the program does not recognize the amp. FVB software is already updated. I guess malfunction started as I had both amp and fvb useless for a lapse (2 years). Other functions of the amp (buttons, knobs, eq, configurations, sound) appears to be working normally. My Question is if the damage could be at amp fvb port (not physical damage), or the pedal is damaged? I appreciate your help... :)
  21. Hello... bit of a newb here. I bought a Spider IV 150HD for the purpose of recording direct into pro tools (Digi002 & PT10)... however I'm not really interested in an FBV. I have read somewhere that I'd be able to run Spider IV Edit without an FBV... as I'd prefer to edit the amp settings from my PC. I would truly appreciate any direction and/or assistance on the subject from A to Z. Thank you.
  22. Can someone tell me if they have found a good way to connect a Spider IV amp (I have the 120) and a POD HD500x fx pedal? I've tried going through "clean" channels/settings, but the sound is never as good as it is listening to my JTV-59 Variax and POD HD500x directly into headphones. I understand that the Spider IV is a modeling amp and doesn't have an FX loop to bypass the preamp on the Spider IV. Is there anyway to use these three pieces (JTV Variax, POD 500X & Spider IV) in some way that can even get close to the dream rig? Been looking into the idea of selling off the Spider IV and either putting my money into a DT25 or DT50 amp or the newer Firehawk 1500. I'd also appreciate advice on the DT's vs. the new Firehawk, understand its a modelling amp based on the Firehawk pedal. Is this maybe just a good time to wait and see what comes after the Firehawk 1500? I'd appreciate any advice any other users or Line 6 techs can offer so I can get the best out of what I've already invested in. I'm generally using the equip. for home use, but may want to do some light gigging locally in the future. Thx in advance, Joe
  23. Well... First of all. Excuse my english, im spanish speaker, so i'll do my best. I bought this amp years 4 or 5 years ago. I used it without a problem for months, i was happy... Then, while i was playing, it starts to turn off and on while i was playing LIVE on a gig. I looked around here, and there, for a solution and i didnt find it. Some people had this problem with their Spiders, so i wrote to some guys with this issue (In this forum) and they told me that couldnt find a soluticion. They said "I didn't get mine fixed.. I took it back to where I bought it and got a refund". The lollipop thing is, im from VENEZUELA and bought this amp in USA and Line 6 dont exist here! So i cant take it back and get refund, i cant send this amp to Line 6 to technical support or whatever... And still didnt find a fukin' post, tutorial, video, or whatever to fix this lollipop. I really feel stolen from Line 6.
  24. Hi, my hd 150 is completely broken. I did measure the internal power supply and I'm a bit confused on the output values: only one of the red lines does show 9v the other is 0v. (Both the blue lines show 34V each) Should the red lines have 9v each or do I need to search further? Thanks Roger
  25. My Spider IV-150 has developed an issue where about 10 seconds into a switched preset, the volume of the preset drops about 25%. This happens with all presets. Initially when this issue began, overdrive presets 10 seconds after selection, would switch to a line-level, clean tone... almost as if no preset were selected at all. After taking it to a tech that used to work for Line 6, he couldn't make it happen in shop (no surprise there). But he suggested doing a firmware update through Line 6 Monkey. I did that and now the presets don't switch to that weird, clean tone. The presets keep the sound but drop in volume about 25% after 10 seconds. I just tried doing another firmware update but Monkey says the amp and MK-III pedal are up to date. Is anyone experiencing this issue? And if so, how did you remedy the problem? Can anyone recommend a good tech that really can trouble shoot and work on Line 6 gear in the LA, Orange County, San Diego County areas? Thanks
