  1. Hi. I just recently purchased a Line 6 Spider iv 150w amp, and i've heard that i can get a decent Mesa Boogie sound from it. If anyone can share if they've been able to do this with the amp, i would very much appreciate the Settings you used. Thank you
  2. I've been using my Spider Valve MkII HD100 head for four and a half years at rehearsals and live on stage, usually running it through a 4x12" Marshall speaker. After weeks of tweaking I finally got "my" sound out of it, and the fact is I got it to sound really, really great. Through these years it was the most reliable tool, never letting me down even once in all this time. The other day I turned the amp on to rehearse and there wasn't any sound through the speaker outputs. Some days earlier it worked just fine and no one had touched it. The digital part of it worked perfectly, it works as a POD through the line output this is. Off course I've tried with various cables and speaker cabinets and also other amp heads with the cabinets. I did a factory reset, checked the two fuses on the back, but didn't solve the problem. Does anyone know what it could be? Has any had the same problem with these amps? Peace. / PM
  3. Ok so I want to know what are the settings to play the song In the flesh by Pink Floyd, my amp is a line6 spider IV 15 and my guitar is a Fender Stratocaster Squier. Thanks a lot!
  4. Hi all, Recently acquired this amp and had a bit of an issue with the rotary function of the preset knob being a bit temperamental. Now it's chosen to stop working all together. However, the push to edit function of the knob still works. Any suggestions? Alex
  5. Alright, I have a question hopefully someone can answer. I own a Line 6 Spider Jam amp and i want to make better use of the recording function by going hands-free. If i bought the fbv express mk2 would i be able to control my recording (start, stop, overdub)? via the footpedals or is that only possible on the fbv shortboard? Thanks Ben
  6. The right speaker in my Spider II amp goes "in and out". I've noticed that if I go to a volume above 5, both speakers work, but below, the right speaker has problems. Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot and fix this problem?
  7. is there not a way to connect my MKII Shortboard via USB and download new tones to use on my Spider III 150w amp head? ALSO, isn't there a way I can connect the MKII and "fine tune" my effects I currently have on there? for example: custom naming my banks/presets... etc etc. just getting started on this and any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, ace
  8. I purchased a FBV Express MKII for my Spider IV 15 so I wouldn't have to go to my amp to change channels. I figured it would be as simple as just using the provided CAT-5 cable to connect the Pedal to the amp. When this didn't work I went through the process of calibrating it at least ten times. The calibration process worked. It went from 1 to 4 and all seven lights lit up. I unplugged it from the amp and reconnected it only to have it do nothing. I spent about an hour trying to find a USB cable to connect it to the computer to use the Line 6 Monkey to update it only to have it be fully updated. I preformed a factory reset just to be safe. I re-calibrated it to the amp and still nothing. So I then used the Line 6 FBV Control to program the pedal only to still have it not function with the amp. Does anybody know how to fix this?
  9. Hello, I recently bought a FBV Shortboard MKII to go with my Spider IV 120. I've connected up to my laptop using the correct cables with the intention of updating the firmware and using Spider Online. However, I downloaded Monkey and tried to update the Flash Memory update for the amp. Every single time I try, I get the following message. "Spider IV 120 update failed. (Code 8000000A) An undefined error occurred. Try the update again making sure the cables are still connected." Now I can't use the amp at all, as it's stuck on a menu saying "Ready to Update." I also cannot seem to factory reset the amp at all. I really don't know what to do. PLEASE help anyone?! :(
  10. I have an old Spider 1 Amp and a Floorboard. I haven't touched them for a while, but at some point, it must have broken. The Amp is fine. I turn it on, everything works. I can change all the settings, I get sound. When I plug the floorboard in, the sound disappears. All of the buttons work on the Floorboard in terms of changing the presets. The Tuner mode will turn on, but it doesn't work. I broke the floorboard down and I found out that the plastic strip that is connected to the Volume pedal was bent and not even through the board part like the Wah pedal is. Thinking maybe this was causing the problem, I took the plastic screw and nut off of the Wah and slid the Volume plastic piece back through the board and screwed it in. Still no luck. I initially thought it might be one of the Cat5 jacks, but since signals are getting send back to the Amp from the Floorboard, I wouldn't think it was an issue. Anyone have any other suggestions as to where to look? Thanks!!!
  11. Hello i recently bought a Spider IV 15 watt, i got an epiphone les paul special(first electric guitar), I wanna get a decent metal tone, i looked up on the internet for metal tones. i tried them but when i hit more than 1 string the sound can't be understood, i mean it's noisy and unclear, Can you guys tell me about some settings? is it the amp's fault or do I need some good settings? i want a tone that can be understood, i don't want any bad noise when im hitting 3 open strings, I am very dissapointed, what do you recommend?
  12. I love the tube gain effect and the screamer and the fuzz! Honestly all of the stomp box distortion fx have something to offer but no matter how I adjust through gain/drive, master/channel volume, the gain fx always have a drop in volume when switched on, compared to the clean tone. I've tried setting them to Post instead of pre and that certainly boosts the volume quite a bit but it sounds awful, pre sounds great. I love being able to switch between clean and dirt as if using an actual pedal but that drop in volume... Anybody else run into this? Have any suggestions? It's pretty consistent throughout all the amp models but I generally use the clean red with tube gain effect, gain 100% drive somewhere between 50 and 85%.
  13. I got a Spider IV 15W amplifier that is pretty nice piece of hardware, but recently it has developed an issue where chorus/flanger gets turned on by itself. For example I have a clean tone without any effects enabled. For some reason chorus or flanger gets turned on even when no one is touching the amp. I did factory reset (hold Clean for 5-8secs while turning on the amp) and I've tried to rotate effect knobs from 0% to 100% and back to 0% for some time if it's defective knob but this isn't really helping. Any of you guys have any suggestions I could try to troubleshoot this problem?
  14. It's been a while since the last update to Line6's best selling range of amps, just wondering when or if they plan on updating them again (by update I mean physical).
  15. Good day everyone !! I just have a couple questions about this method. I want to connect my 2x12 Spider III 150 amp to a 4x12 cab (Line 6, as well) but I'm not sure if I must disconnect the 2x12 speakers in the combo to use the 4x12 cab, or does the amp automatically cancel the 2x12 output when the two cables are plugged in to the cab ? I will thank every single comment Thanks and have a nice day.
  16. Hi. Recently my Spider II 75 amp head has not been making any sound when the guitar is plugged in. I have checked the cab with another head and the cab is working fine. I've also ruled out the possiblity of it being a problem with leads/guitars etc. The lights on the head work fine and it plays music when i plug an mp3 player into the mp3 input, however when i plug the guitar in it wont make any sound. I've taken the head part apart and there doesnt seem to be any obvious problems inside. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
  17. Is there a way to get this knobs? i've been looking for this knobs at online store (including ebay) without luck, my Master Knob of my Spider IV fell off, a friend of mine loose it and is annoying. He told me he will buy it for me but i cant find it. Thanks
  18. I can hardly find any presets for the Spider IV 150 in the CustomTone page. Almost every time I try to load a tone in Spider Edit, I get the message "This Setting Contains Models Not Available in your Device" My 150 is updated, I assumed it would work with anything the 75w and up versions had...?
  19. I play guitar at home as a hohby. I have an old Spider III 30 watt amp and am looking at options for upgrading my sound. Would there be any drawbacks (such as fidelity) to feeding the output of a POD HD into the line input (CD/MP3) in the front of my Spider, which I assume is designed to be uncolored, which is what I'd want? Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts?
  20. I just recently updated my Spider IV 150 to current specs and am exploring the new Gain effects. One thing that has always bothered me with modeling amps is the slight delay when switching amp models or channels (from A to B etc.) It occurred to me that with the new Gain effects, you don't have to switch channels to switch to your dirty sound. It's almost like the difference between switching channels and stepping on a distortion pedal (which I assume is what Line 6 was going for). My only issue is that the Gain stomps just don't quite have the same feeling as the amp models with drive cranked up. I've found that Tube Driver gets pretty close for a good rock to metal sounds, when compared to the cranked Class A Red or Insane Red. The Screamer is nice too but, I don't know how to describe it... I suppose what I kept running into is two conflicting EQs between the amp model and the stomp model (which just took time to find a good balance or just pick a new FX1 option) and a difference in output level, the cleans always seem to be more full and a little louder then when I kick in the Stomp effect. In the end I guess what I'm asking is if other people run into this to, how they deal with it, how they use the Gain effects, if anybody has some tips how to apply those effects along with channel volume, gain, drive etc. and lastly do people prefer to switch from A to B for clean/dirty or use the effects? Thanks!!!!
  21. hello everyone, I recently borrowed from a friend of mine an Ibanez wah pedal and tried to connect it to my spider jam..Unexpectly no sound came through my amp..I tried ( at least I think ) everything..The connection order was like that : Guitar ---> Wah Pedal ---> Amp I also came up with the idea to set the clean channel to my amp but still nothing.. You know I am very very keen on that problem, because I want to start building my own stompbox slowly - slowly but I am not sure if this is possible..And I forgot to mention that the pedal is completely ok because I had a try on it on a Marshall amp... What am I doing wrong? Because if a great amp such a Spider Jam cannot support any other pedal from another manufacturer ,then AT LEAST it should be mentioned in the preview list for the customers.. Thank you , any shortcoming respond will be appreciated..
  22. my gear: Spidervalve HD100 MK2 FBV longbard (formerly FBX) Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit desktop Intel Core i5 CPU M-Audio 1x1 MidiSport M-Audio DELTA Audiophile 2496 tried to install the SPIDER FX INFUSION v2.0 getting the error in object, first through 1x1 Midisport then through Delta 2496; once again even via my 32 bit Windows XP laptop. nothing came out in any case... any news? could anybody help? thanx.
  23. Don't know why I never thought of doing it before, but yesterday I hooked up a Shure SM58 and my Taylor acoustic/electric to my Mackie ProFX12 mixer, then sent the output to the CD/MP3 input on the back of the Spider. Voila! - Instant PA System! I did find out, though, that if I only fed 1 side of the left/right mixer output to the stereo input that the volume was not very loud, but when I sent a full stereo signal (I used the headphone output because I only had an adapter to do it that way), the volume was huge - and clear! Most likely I would never use the amp this way, but it's a good option as I don't have any powered PA speakers of my own to use, and it would make an ideal monitor, too.
  24. Hi guys I have a Spider IV and I like to play the bass, I had to sell it and I'm using the FX Pitch Glide to become my guitar into a bass, so do you guys think that my amp can be decomposed by using it as bass guitar?
  25. Hi. I always wanted to add some new effects to my loved spider valve, especially the octoverb and particle reverb, so, I buy a Line6 M5 and I want to show you how I use both together. Guitar -> Spider Valve -> preamp out -> M5 in -> M5 out -> power amp in MIDI = Spider valve midi out/thru -> M5 midi in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7RfXpNYWew Sorry my english, is not my native lenguage.
