  1. I'm just starting guitar, so sorry if I sound dumb about this, but currently I have a Line 6 Spider IV 15 and I would really like to know how, or if I can connect it to my PC to use Monkey and the various other Line 6 softwares, thanks!
  2. Hey guys I want to know a few things so bear with me if things go over your head. 1) can I run this head with just one output jack connected to a modded spider 4x12 that i customized to work in just 16 ohm mono operation? I read somewhere that both jacks need to be connected or the amp can blow if you crank it like this...? 2) I've been cranking this baby with 2 identically modded 16 ohm mono spider cabs will I eventually cause my amp to blow? 3) should I return my cabs to their 4 ohm mono/8 ohm stereo op? Could I remod to remain 8 ohm stereo but with a 16 ohm mono op? I just wanted to use all speakers for the sake of having a full range (jsyk not to be mistaken as frfr) tone through all speakers rather than just two speakers per side. Have I made a mistake? 3) has anyone else just used the CD/Mp3 input for the sole use of the power amp section...? I'm running a laptop w/ cockos reaper and a external usb pre amp outing to the mp3 input jack in stereo with backing tracks + amp modeing into the rig to get my desired result. What are your thoughts on this? 4) line 6 really needs to consider adding more speaker configurations, Poweramp in, and speaker cab mute switch (why mute the speaker when using the di through the amp.. wtf) to their next spider series if they still plan on selling these series later on in the future. *more of an opinion*
  3. I have a Spider IV 120 and a FBV Shortboard MKII. The FBV is connected to my computer via USB and I'm using the Line 6 FBV Control software. I want to assign the built in expression pedal that is typically controlling volume on my Spider or the external expression pedal "PEDAL 2" to whatever it is that controls the "FX3" "Mix" parameter on the Spider. In other words, I want to control the level of the mix parameter on the delay effect via one of those continuous controllers. I see things in the list like "002 - Breath Control" and "080 General Control 8", but which one of those things controls that delay mix parameter, and where do I look that up for the Spider IV 120? See attached screenshot. Thanks in advance for any help you offer!
  4. Hello Line 6 community. I am getting started using Line 6 products and was wondering if someone would kind enough to answer a few questions for me. I really appreciate your time. Specifically, I am using the Line 6 Spider products. -Am I correct in assuming that when an amp model is chosen the equalization is then set automatically regardless of what the knobs for things like low, mid, high, etc. say at that current moment? -If a channel button is held to save a sound after simply selecting an amp model like in my previous question would the equalizations be saved to what the knobs are showing at that moment or what the settings for the amp model are supposed to be? -If something was tweaked...say channel volume...then saved...would the positions of the other buttons (low, mid, high, etc) be resaved at their current positions or would it still be whatever the amp model is supposed to be...or whatever it was before? Thanks so much for your time.
  5. Please share your tones, or any tones you know of famous musicians please. I'm in desperate need. I can't find tone by ear. Help.help.help
  6. Hello, I think soon buy this pedal , but to be sure to make the right purchase , I would like to know .... the pedal is it compatible with my amp Spider Valve MkII HD100 and how I could best connect the 100FX ? Thank you for your answers Daan.
  7. Hey guys, I play the Spider IV 75 for a while now and I am still looking for some good allday sounds. I want to set up a bank with A:Clean, B: Crunch, C:Drive, D:Metal/Lead for most purposes. I tried to make some presets, but especially a good Crunch and Drive sound is hard to find. I'm almost satified with my clean and metal sound now, but I don't like the other 2. :-/ Mostly played with an Ibanez RG H-S-H and Jackson Warrior H-H. ;-) It's hard to find something on Customtone, because I don't really now, what I should type in the search field. :-D Do you have some suggestions for good sound settings or links to good presets? Thanks!
  8. Hi, I was playing guitar with my amp spider 3 and when changing channels with the pedal FVB express the amplifier became stuck and did not emit sounds and no buttons worked. I decided to turn it off and on, but when I turned it back on no buttons lit up and even the saved presets would not load. the preset display only had a few black boxes. please help this is the only thing that can work at this time and it cost me a lot to have this amp. because i do not want to lose it, thanks in advance.
  9. Hi, I have an issue with my amp, I have a Spider IV 120 (2x10) and the left speaker practically does not have a sound, only if I turn all the master vol up sound a little. My first think is ok the speaker is bad, so I disconnect the othe speaker and interchanged the wires, of course checking the polarity is ok. In this case the left speakers sound perfect and the rigth BAD. That makes me think that is a wire problem or a electronic issue on the main board of the amp. I inspect visually the main board and everything looks great nothing burn, all the transistors and capacitors look normal. I did a factory reset too, but nothing works. Anyone have this problem? What I have to do? How I can resolve? I Appreciate your help, and I am sorry about my english I am from another country so please understand me. Thanks
  10. Hello, I recently purchased a FBV Mk II to go with my Spider IV 15 watt amp. My computer does connect just fine to the board via the USB interface, however none of my adjustments on the computer that I save seem to affect the FBV at all. Suggestions? Help? Thank you <3
  11. Hi. I just recently purchased a Line 6 Spider iv 150w amp, and i've heard that i can get a decent Mesa Boogie sound from it. If anyone can share if they've been able to do this with the amp, i would very much appreciate the Settings you used. Thank you
  12. I've been using my Spider Valve MkII HD100 head for four and a half years at rehearsals and live on stage, usually running it through a 4x12" Marshall speaker. After weeks of tweaking I finally got "my" sound out of it, and the fact is I got it to sound really, really great. Through these years it was the most reliable tool, never letting me down even once in all this time. The other day I turned the amp on to rehearse and there wasn't any sound through the speaker outputs. Some days earlier it worked just fine and no one had touched it. The digital part of it worked perfectly, it works as a POD through the line output this is. Off course I've tried with various cables and speaker cabinets and also other amp heads with the cabinets. I did a factory reset, checked the two fuses on the back, but didn't solve the problem. Does anyone know what it could be? Has any had the same problem with these amps? Peace. / PM
  13. I purchased a FBV Express MKII for my Spider IV 15 so I wouldn't have to go to my amp to change channels. I figured it would be as simple as just using the provided CAT-5 cable to connect the Pedal to the amp. When this didn't work I went through the process of calibrating it at least ten times. The calibration process worked. It went from 1 to 4 and all seven lights lit up. I unplugged it from the amp and reconnected it only to have it do nothing. I spent about an hour trying to find a USB cable to connect it to the computer to use the Line 6 Monkey to update it only to have it be fully updated. I preformed a factory reset just to be safe. I re-calibrated it to the amp and still nothing. So I then used the Line 6 FBV Control to program the pedal only to still have it not function with the amp. Does anybody know how to fix this?
  14. Ok so I want to know what are the settings to play the song In the flesh by Pink Floyd, my amp is a line6 spider IV 15 and my guitar is a Fender Stratocaster Squier. Thanks a lot!
  15. I love the tube gain effect and the screamer and the fuzz! Honestly all of the stomp box distortion fx have something to offer but no matter how I adjust through gain/drive, master/channel volume, the gain fx always have a drop in volume when switched on, compared to the clean tone. I've tried setting them to Post instead of pre and that certainly boosts the volume quite a bit but it sounds awful, pre sounds great. I love being able to switch between clean and dirt as if using an actual pedal but that drop in volume... Anybody else run into this? Have any suggestions? It's pretty consistent throughout all the amp models but I generally use the clean red with tube gain effect, gain 100% drive somewhere between 50 and 85%.
  16. Hi all, Recently acquired this amp and had a bit of an issue with the rotary function of the preset knob being a bit temperamental. Now it's chosen to stop working all together. However, the push to edit function of the knob still works. Any suggestions? Alex
  17. Alright, I have a question hopefully someone can answer. I own a Line 6 Spider Jam amp and i want to make better use of the recording function by going hands-free. If i bought the fbv express mk2 would i be able to control my recording (start, stop, overdub)? via the footpedals or is that only possible on the fbv shortboard? Thanks Ben
  18. The right speaker in my Spider II amp goes "in and out". I've noticed that if I go to a volume above 5, both speakers work, but below, the right speaker has problems. Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot and fix this problem?
  19. is there not a way to connect my MKII Shortboard via USB and download new tones to use on my Spider III 150w amp head? ALSO, isn't there a way I can connect the MKII and "fine tune" my effects I currently have on there? for example: custom naming my banks/presets... etc etc. just getting started on this and any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, ace
  20. I have an old Spider 1 Amp and a Floorboard. I haven't touched them for a while, but at some point, it must have broken. The Amp is fine. I turn it on, everything works. I can change all the settings, I get sound. When I plug the floorboard in, the sound disappears. All of the buttons work on the Floorboard in terms of changing the presets. The Tuner mode will turn on, but it doesn't work. I broke the floorboard down and I found out that the plastic strip that is connected to the Volume pedal was bent and not even through the board part like the Wah pedal is. Thinking maybe this was causing the problem, I took the plastic screw and nut off of the Wah and slid the Volume plastic piece back through the board and screwed it in. Still no luck. I initially thought it might be one of the Cat5 jacks, but since signals are getting send back to the Amp from the Floorboard, I wouldn't think it was an issue. Anyone have any other suggestions as to where to look? Thanks!!!
  21. Hello, I recently bought a FBV Shortboard MKII to go with my Spider IV 120. I've connected up to my laptop using the correct cables with the intention of updating the firmware and using Spider Online. However, I downloaded Monkey and tried to update the Flash Memory update for the amp. Every single time I try, I get the following message. "Spider IV 120 update failed. (Code 8000000A) An undefined error occurred. Try the update again making sure the cables are still connected." Now I can't use the amp at all, as it's stuck on a menu saying "Ready to Update." I also cannot seem to factory reset the amp at all. I really don't know what to do. PLEASE help anyone?! :(
  22. Hello i recently bought a Spider IV 15 watt, i got an epiphone les paul special(first electric guitar), I wanna get a decent metal tone, i looked up on the internet for metal tones. i tried them but when i hit more than 1 string the sound can't be understood, i mean it's noisy and unclear, Can you guys tell me about some settings? is it the amp's fault or do I need some good settings? i want a tone that can be understood, i don't want any bad noise when im hitting 3 open strings, I am very dissapointed, what do you recommend?
  23. I got a Spider IV 15W amplifier that is pretty nice piece of hardware, but recently it has developed an issue where chorus/flanger gets turned on by itself. For example I have a clean tone without any effects enabled. For some reason chorus or flanger gets turned on even when no one is touching the amp. I did factory reset (hold Clean for 5-8secs while turning on the amp) and I've tried to rotate effect knobs from 0% to 100% and back to 0% for some time if it's defective knob but this isn't really helping. Any of you guys have any suggestions I could try to troubleshoot this problem?
  24. It's been a while since the last update to Line6's best selling range of amps, just wondering when or if they plan on updating them again (by update I mean physical).
  25. Good day everyone !! I just have a couple questions about this method. I want to connect my 2x12 Spider III 150 amp to a 4x12 cab (Line 6, as well) but I'm not sure if I must disconnect the 2x12 speakers in the combo to use the 4x12 cab, or does the amp automatically cancel the 2x12 output when the two cables are plugged in to the cab ? I will thank every single comment Thanks and have a nice day.
