  1. Hey Guys, Today we are going over the tone I created using the Line 6 HX Stomp using Ownhammer Impulse Responses. I go over each block, which IR I use as well as how to create snapshots so that you can use this tone as your main rhythm tone as well as a lead tone. If you have any questions, leave them down below and I'll do my best to help you out. Thanks again for all the support. To see all the things I'm up to, go to my webpage https://nickhillmakesmusic.com/
  2. Hello I'm very new to mutlieffects processors and need some clarification on it's capabilities. I love user made presets and I see the helix has a sizeable collection of artists I really like. The hxstomp has some but not nearly as many. I know the stomp supports 8 blocks in the chain and the helix a few more but, as long as the signal chain is under 8, would I be able to pretty much replicate any user preset that was made for the full helix? Idk if the answer is obvious but I'd like some help from you guys. Thanks if you help out.
  3. Hi, After I updated firmware on my Stomp (from 2.65 I think to the newest) the tuner has been acting up. Every time I hit a string, the tuner jumps to a D for a split second. If I let the string ring out it stays on the right note, so seems it only happens when I hit the string. Doesn't matter which note I play, the tuner jumps to a D. Anyone else experienced this?
  4. Got my HX Stomp and as expected there is always going to be differences in the volume of the different factory presets as well as the many presets I’ve downloaded from the community site. Such differences of course would be expected say between a clean twin preset and a cranked metal tone. however the volume differences appear to be extremely different from one patch to the next. I spent a number of hours trying to normalize these, not to identical volumes, but to more appropriate volume differences between clean versus crunch versus distorted. at first I begin modifying amp distortion levels then channel volumes then master volumes, then pedal volumes...and lastly noted that additional volume changes could be made at the output. so... before I spend too many more hours, am I missing some major concept here - and if not is there a better way to be approaching more reasonable volume differences between patches. Many thanks, Jack
  5. Hi, New HX Stomp user here! I'll try to ask this question as clearly as possible.... I know that there is an option to tell the HX Stomp to send a PC command when calling a preset to external midi devices. I was wondering if you could set specific PC commands, depending on WHICH preset you activate? I have a Soleman midi controller (4 footswitches), with many many songs already programmed. Out of 50 songs in our set, maybe 30 need a specific set of presets (combinations of drive pedals, delay/reverb and modulation), and those are already programmed in my Soleman with song sections (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.). The rest of the songs are more "generic" tones, for which I typically use a general set of presets that get me through many songs that "fit" these tones. Now, I would like to create a preset on the HX Stomp for each and every song we play, and have it send a PC message to the Soleman ONLY when I want it to recall the "panel preset" that I already previously programmed. Which would give me greater flexibility and more swtiches to control my other pedals that are midi, but not in the HX Stomp (SA Nemesis, SA Ventris, Whammy 5). Please help. This has been spinnning in my head for days now.....! Ps. My other solution was to do it the other way around, with the Soleman calling presets on the HX Stomp, but it'd mean that I would have to do a lot more programming, and it's not ideal, I think.
  6. Will a Strymon Ojai or R30 power supply handle both the HX stomp and HX effects using a couple of current doublers and 2.1 —> 2.5 adapters (without issue)? Is there a power supply anyone recommends? EDIT: Strymon Ojai R30 works perfect powering both. Also, I used 2 of these (one for each device) to avoid using the barrel adapter. They plug right into the current doubler cable and then into the device. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016BJGZ2U?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title Also, I can use the adjustable 12 Volt port for my Tech 21 Fly Rig 5 if I were to ever need it for backup reasons.
  7. I've had the Helix a couple weeks, and have been studiously setting up a single Preset and 8 Snapshots. Since Snapshots are my primary focus due to the large delay in preset switching, I've set the Global Setttings > Footswitches to "Manual Return" instead of auto. This was previously working fine. I could tap the Cancel button to return to Stomp box mode and enable/disable individual effects. Or I could use the Bank Up and Bank Down buttons to navigate around. Today when I boot up I find that I can't get into Stomp Box mode at all. Pressing cancel does nothing. Holding cancel will open Edit mode. Pressing up or down will allow me to choose a bank. I can choose any snapshot... I just can't get into stomp box mode? I'll try re-flashing later, but maybe I've just tweaked something weird. Anyone have ideas? I did muck with Global settings a bit to see what they did, and tried reverting some changes with no luck. ______________________ Coincidentally (or not...) The Bank Up and Down don't work as expected while in Snapshot mode. If I press Bank up, it will move one bank DOWN. Then pressing it again moves up as expected. Likewise, pressing bank down while viewing the snapshots will open up the next bank UP. Pressing it down again then moves back down. For example, I'm on preset 2A. Pressing Bank UP displays Banks 35 and 36. Pressing UP again displays Banks 1 and 2. Pressing Bank DOWN first displays Banks 3 and 4. Pressing DOWN again displays Banks 1 and 2. OCCASIONALLY no numbers will display at all and it will just say BANK on each. Pressing UP or DOWN returns to the expected BANK. Reversing the Bank up and down has no effect. It goes the wrong way the 1st time, then the way it was set the 2nd and 3rd. WTF?
  8. Hello! I am considering the Stomp as an option as a fly rig. I play on cruise ships and they require only 2 pieces of luggage, so I'm looking at options to replace my pedalboard. I have a two switch external footswitch already so I'd definitely use it with the Stomp. I just need to find out whether it would work for my set up. I would need Clean, Overdrive and Solo tone. I understand that you can do this in the snapshot. But sometimes I'd want delay on for the solo tone or others. Could the external footswitch be assigned to switch delay on/off in the snapshot mode for all of the snapshots. Or is this not possible? And is there another way to get this? By the way I've never used multi effect units so go easy on me! Any help would be great!
  9. My DAWs (Reaper and Cakewalk) wont recognize HX stomp as an interface after big windows update about 3 days ago. I've already updated to v2.81 when it came out. I am doing recording next week and in need of a quick fix! I have to use the digital USB ins and outs in order to record DI signals as my interface only has 1 input.
  10. I'm interested in how the HX Stomp works with the Helix Native plugin. I know there are some limits to rig chain length in Stomp, but no limits in Native. Can I export Native patches to HX Stomp, and keep the full rig complexity?
  11. Hi, I am planning on buying the Mission Engineering SP1 expression pedal as well as the Mission Engineering TT-2 footswitch for my Helix Stomp. Before I buy these pedal I want to be sure it's possible to use these pedals simultaneously with my Helix Stomp, unfortunatly I haven't found the answer to this question. Could someone tell me if this is possible?
  12. I updated my Stomp and I’ve been playing with the new 5c3 Deluxe model. I’ve noticed an occasional higher pitched feedback in passing between sounds. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a solution?
  13. I’ve had the HX Effects for a while and I’ve loved it so much I decided to get the Stomp for the amp modeling. My question is can I use the FX to midi control the Stomp? Specifically I would like to be able to change between snapshots and presets on the stomp and blocks within a preset on the FX. I’m new to midi and I am totally lost. Thanks in advance for the help.
  14. Hello friend! I'm about to buy a HX Stomp and I want to merge its capabilities with the Bluguitar Amp1. So, how do you get along with these 2 great products? I want to run the bluguitar amp 1 trough the FX Loop of the hx stomp, use it as the amp simulation, and then, put some effects in fn the front + some IR's from the Helix. But I have a problem with the channel switching. If i want to change the channel of the Amp 1 and turn on/ off some of the effects in Snapshot mode, how do I do that? Far as I know, the HX Stomp doesn't have amp switching capabilities like its bigger brothers LT/Rack/ Standard Helix. Otherwise, I would like to know how are you guys using them together! Maybe I'll run the Stomp in the loop chain of the Amp1. But for this kind of operation, it would get way too expensive because i'll have to buy an external Midi Switcher. In any case, I'll buy this month the HX stomp and maybe will convince me that I don't need to buy the Amp 1 for a good sound. For now, the youtube videos, did not conviced me with it's clean capabilities. Maybe some good IR's will made up my mind. Just as a fact. I'll use it in live situations with a Fender Stratocaster Custom Shop 60's reissue - Luna Stone True Overdrive and a vintage BOSS GE10 (for the moment, I'll run the eq in the loop FX of the Helix). Thank you for your atention
  15. I'm a new owner of the HX Stomp and spend plenty of time during the weekend to fine tune my presets, explore HX Stomp features, and have it set up for studio and live use. Everything is perfect except for the looper. I can't find a way to control he looper via an external Footswitch. Even changing the settings in global menu the most I can get is that the recording starts, but no way to stop it. What do you suggest (NO MIDI) as an external Footswitch for looper use? thank you!
  16. Hi Guys, very impressed with the HX Stomp! Most definitely will be buying one when it hits the stores here in Surrey, UK. One ‘gripe’ (hardware) and two suggestions (hardware & software). The suggestions follow on from the gripe! It’s all about what I think is the most important element of any such unit (apart from the sounds, of course!): the ease with which to switch complicated sounds during a gig. Ext Pedal port: shame only 1 port included. Frustrating not to be able to have at least 1 EXP plus FS4 & FS5 for e.g. up/down toggling of presets, side to side shifting of pages, etc to get instant access to multiple presets and snapshots on the fly. Two ports would have made the machine phenomenal and there might have been space to shift the USB to the MIDI side to allow for a second Ext port on the back? (but doing so would have taken it too close to the LT?) ;-) Obvs there are workarounds: a) external MIDI controller for preset selection, b) external Wah plus FS4 and FS5, but it would have been nice to have it all on the HX internally as standard. Hardware suggestion: with one TRS port, I can do 6 customisable things with my Switch 6 on my Helicon devices. Could Line 6 produce a dedicated switching box to enable a greater number of switching possibilities? Software suggestion: in the four Play View Modes, there are various functions that are activated by pressing two buttons together (FS1+FS2, FS2+FS3), but these don’t seem to appear as functions that could be assigned to FS4/FS5. I hate trying to press two pedals together in a gig and I’m sure most people would agree. Would it not be possible to allow a single press of either FS4 or FS5 to access these extra functions, e.g. toggling between Preset and Snapshot, queueing next/previous Presets, etc? Would this not allow almost instant access to 9+ sounds on the fly? More than enough for nearly any song, I grant you, but very useful! Reply from Line 6 Techs gratefully received. Thanks a lot, Andy
  17. hey! lurker, first time poster, HX Stomp owner and i love it. being a n00b with midi, i bought a very well-priced controller off Reverb, but i'm SO confused as to how to use it or if it's even usable. this would be a Disaster Area DMC-6D, which is the previous gen of DA controllers. i was under the impression that midi was universal, but the Stomp won't recognize the DMC in 'Learn' mode while i'm trying to set up a bypass on one of my blocks. tried updating the firmware on the controller, having issues with that, too. anyone willing to walk me through this? or at least point me towards a thread that has some better info. do i need to sell this thing and get a different controller?
  18. Hi again guys, I have a question: Got my ‘baby’ board set up for vocal and guitar with the Stomp at its heart for the guitar FX (photo). As mentioned in a previous topic, I have FS4 & 5 acting as Page < and Page > (the two-button switcher under the Stomp). Everything is working fine. I have a dedicated Wah effect working separately from the Stomp. Question is about whether there’s a way to utilise FS4/5 when needed AND Exp1 (to access wahs, whammys, etc). Previously, Phil_M helpfully suggested a DMC MIDI pedal through which Exp1 could be accessed. I could go down that route if necessary. My question is - could a simple, bespoke, single button A/B switcher with TRS output allow switching between the stereo signal from FS4/5 and a mono (tip) signal from an expression pedal for Exp1 function? Cheers, Andy

    HX Stomp

Does anyone know how/if you can change the colors of the footswitches on the HX Stomp????
  20. I'm having trouble with the basic set up of the one switch looper on the stomp. Having reset to factory settings, I add the looper to an empty preset and assign a controller to FS2 using the Learn function. When operating FS2 in the edit mode Playbk switches between 0.0db and -60.0db In performance mode the looper displays as Playbk and operating FS2 simply changes it from enabled to disabled. None of the looper behaviour is invoked (red light to record, etc.). It's almost like the pedal isn't being recognized as a looper and is just having its Playbk parameter assigned to FS2. This is with the latest 2.71 Firmware. I hoping this is some very basic misunderstanding on my part. :-) Edit: Figured this out. You have to follow the instructions about assigning the controls for the Looper to the letter. If you don't quick assign the looper but attempt to do it manually using the control assign menu you will just end up assigning one of the looper's parameters to the foot switch and it won't function as a looper.
  21. I have a Stomp and I really love it because it lets me integrate the best thing from the Helix (which in my opinion is the amp simulation/IR's) with pedals that I love. Now being that I usually run two amps through two IR's, I would really love to be able to put my reverb and delay pedals in separate FX loops without eating up my two remaining blocks on something I'm sure needs very minimal DSP. Anyone else?
  22. I Everyone, this is my first post I'm Italian, sorry for the bad english ;-) the question is: Is it possible to use the HX Stomp as a controller for an exteral midi pedal switcher (like the disaster area dpc8ez) as described below? My goal is to set the unit always in snapshot mode, using a snapshot bank per song and the corrisponding 3 snapshot for the sections of the song (verse-chorus-solo/special) I want to use the unit solely for modulation, reverbs, delays and eventually amp simulation, using the dpc8ez (or other midi pedals switcher) as a controller for 3/4 analog drive pedals combination. So...can I assign each button for recalling a snapshot AND a preset on the pedal swicther? Example of a song/snapshot bank: - snapshot/switch n 1: no pedals from the switcher + some effects from the hx - snapshot/switch n 2: preset 1 on the pedal switcher and no effects from the hx - snapshot/switch n 3: preset 4 on the pedal switcher + some effects from the hx thanks in advance to everyone ciao from italy Teo
  23. A lot of trial and error with this new Helix LT I just got and am really enjoying it. Would like to play live with it eventually but don't want to get tripped up by the hardware as I am now. Thought I'd try some of the customtones and in particular something for playing RHCP under the bridge. Low and behold I found the RHCP Frusciante custom tone and downloaded. Been playing with it but FS11 is assigned 'Clean It Up', which does drop some of the distortion but unfortunately it also removes me from the STOMP screen and displays the pedal chain. None of the other assigned foot switches does this so I was wondering whats up? Any thoughts? And to be clear I also downloaded other customtones that also had the same effect but on different FS buttons. Thx in advance!
  24. Hi all. I am new on here but I am desperate for some help. Basically can you add extra footswitches to the helix? I want to be able to control the looper and maybe a couple of stomp effects from a different location to the helix (just a few feet away) Is there a pedal that can do this please? Many thanks Richard
  25. Sorry, but I just don't get it: As far as I understand the idea behind Screenshots, they are something like different states/charakters/variations of a certain preset. What you do in stomp mode is more like adding/bypassing certain "ingredients" of a preset. But at the end of they day both approaches control a) the on/off-state of one or more boxes b) parameters of one or more boxes? So what's the main difference in practical usage? Thanks!
