  1. Hello! I've had a Line 6 Toneport UX2 for a couple of years now. Recently I got a new desktop PC running windows 10. When i connect my toneport all I can hear coming from the outputs and the phones output is a loud hissing noise. Drivers are all up to date, line 6 monkey shows me all green ticks, asio drivers are all ok. the input vu-meter is always at maximum even though nothing is connected to it. no input signal, no output sound (except for the loud hiss.) Running it in a usb 2.0 on the motherboard (so no usb dongle or something like that). Tried it with all ports, a couple of different usb cables. I've also tried seeing if my PC's output voltage was the problem but everything is ok, no overclocking done. I'm running out of ideas. Could anyone help me with this?
  2. Hi All, I have a problem with Toneport UX2. I use Acid Music studio 11 (Magix software), and I'd like to use Pod Farm or gearbox as a VST. I scanned the appropriate folder int the Acid to see the VST-s in it. So I can find the Pod Farm and Gearbox VSTs in the Acid and can use it in the effect section. I'd like to ecord a dry signal, and use the plugin as an effect. Like this: https://youtu.be/RBMkLxO-E0o When I select the Gearbox or the Pod Farm, I cannot use it. The Pod Farm says, connect an authorized device (however it's connected). Gearbox says, run Line6 monkey, and activate. Of course, my UX2 is activated, all devices and computer is authorised in License manager. My windows an daw is legally purchased :) If I choose Pod Farm guitar amps, and Pod farm distortions as an effect, I can hear the sound changes, but the interface doesn't appear and I could not configured sounds, amp models etc. So the plugin works, but maybe the software didn't "see" the hardware through the Acid. However it works (processing) when I use separate effects in an effect chain... Anybody has experienced the same? Any suggestions? thanks for response. ;) Best regards. András
  3. i have updated my line 6 UX1 to the latest driver 4.2.7.7 from 4.2.7.6 but when i go to "Line 6 audio-MIDI devices settings" i cannot change the bit depth or buffer size. when i select another size or bit rate, it just reverts back to default. the previous update did not do this. i have uninstalled all line 6 drivers and updated to the new one. i had no luck so i reverted back to the previous update. i would like to update this thing! please help!
  4. I have a TonePort UX-1 that I've used for years with Ableton Live. The software was Gearbox. I recently tried to set up my system and realized that Gearbox is discontinued. Is there another free alternative that will work with the UX-1?
  5. So I went to play on my toneport for the first time in like forever. Had it installed on a previous computer and it worked fine, now, no matter what usb port I plug it in, I constantly get the red flashing clip lights, sometimes the volume panels will be lit up but the lights are still flashing and the device is acting like it cant connect. I've downloaded the most recent drivers from Monkey, but after I install them and go back to Monkey it says the drivers are not installed. I've searched all over for people who have had similar problems but they, like myself, can't seem to find any answers anywhere. Help, anyone?
  6. The GearBox Plug-In License was only available as an Optional/Add-On purchase prior to 2009. After POD Farm Plug-In was launched, we stopped selling the GearBox Plug-In License altogether and it has since been discontinued and is no longer supported. If you purchased an older TonePort DI-Silver, TonePort DI-Gold, TonePort UX8 device then you will still have access to the GearBox Plug-In feature, since this was embedded into the aforementioned devices. POD Studio Devices will not have GearBox Plug-In capabilities, only POD Farm Plug-In. GearBox Plug-In Discontinuation FAQ NOTE: For an definition of what an audio Plug-In is, please visit the following articles: Windows (VST): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Studio_Technology Mac OSX (AU): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Units Q: Can I run a single Plug-In on two different devices at the same time? A: No. You will need to either transfer the license from unit A to unit B, or purchase separate Gearbox plug-ins for each Line 6 device you want to use the plug-in with. Q: Why I am hearing a dry guitar signal when I use the plug-in? A: Your DAW or non-Line 6 hardware may have an "input mute" that will need to be enabled when using the plug-in to avoid hearing the dry input signal. Q: My Plug-Ins aren't showing up in the recording application? A: Please keep in mind that some recording applications including Logic and Sonar will have to run a Plug-In scan before you can use your plug-in. You will need to refer to your recording application's user manual to find out where your plug in scan resides in the application. Q: I am not seeing the tuner as an option when I am using the plug-in? A: There is no tuner function in gearbox when used as a plug-in. However; the tuner will function normally in a stand-alone application. Q: Where is the Gearbox Plug-In located? A: Depending on the host computer's operating system: Windows XP/Vista: C:\Program Files\Line6\PlugIns Mac OSX: MacIntosh HD/Library/Audio/PlugIns/Components Q: How do view the Gearbox Plugin in Garageband? A: Open Garage band Create a "new track" (the addition icon in the lower left hand corner) Select "basic track", and choose "gearbox" on the right side of the window under "effects". Open the track you have created (it will be titled "track info"). On the bottom left you will see "effects". The gearbox plug in will be found toward the bottom of the dropdown menu. Be sure to enable the effect with the check mark on the left of the menu. On the right side of "manual", select the "edit the effect" (which will have a pencil icon). You will now be able to edit your gearbox plug in. Q: How do I use Plug-Ins in Cubase 4.01? A: In Cubase 4.01 Steinberg has implemented version 3.0 VST plug-ins. Since most third party plug-ins (Gearbox included) are in a 2.4 version, the Gearbox plug-ins will be found in the "Earlier VST PlugIns" menu option. Q: I am operating a Steinberg product (i.e. Cubase, Nuendo) on a Mac, why am I not seeing my Gearbox plugins? A: Steinberg products only use VST format plug-ins for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Line 6 does not support the use of VST plug ins on the Mac OS at this time. Q: I am working in Sonar, how do the presets change when moved to FX Bins? A: In order for your Gearbox Plug-In to not change presets when dragging from one effects field to another, please "Control Drag" by holding down your control button and left clicking, and then holding your mouse and dragging. You'll see that when you do this your presets will no longer change. Q: My Application freezes or crashes when saving in VST menu? A: At this time, the Gearbox Plug-In does not support saved VST format "presets". Upon saving and loading a tone or preset, please use the Tone File Menu in the Gearbox plug-in located to the right of the tone "name" window. Q: How do I use the TonePort DI as dongle with USB Hubs? A: Line 6 does not support the use of powered USB hubs at this time. When using your TonePort DI as a dongle or input device for your Plug-ins, please connect directly to a USB port on your computer. This will ensure the plug-ins will run smoothly and effectively. Q: Plug-In hardware connected after saving DAW session? A: If your plug-ins default to the Clean Guitar Tone preset upon launching a saved DAW session then it is possible you do not have your activated Gearbox Plug-In hardware connected. Please close out of your saved DAW session, connect your activated Gearbox plug- in hardware, and relaunch your saved DAW session. You will now see that your saved Gearbox Plug-In tones will now appear correctly in your session. Q: If I use my PODxt family device as my "dongle" after downloading the plug-in pack, will I get the Mic Preamp models? A: The Mic preamp models will be available from within the Gearbox Plug-In when using your PODxt device as a dongle. Q: Can I control the Gearbox Plug-In with my PODxt or FBV controller? A: At this time it is not possible to control the Gearbox Plug-In parameters with your PODxt or controller. Some end users have had success by assigning control of a specific effect (i.e. wah or bender) to their effects control in their recording application. Q: Can I control the GearBox Plug-in via MIDI? A: The GearBox plug-in does not support the use of MIDI to control its parameters directly at this time. Applications such as Ableton Live can control the plug-in with a MIDI controller, because it can map MIDI controller data to its plug-in parameters. There is no current work around for ProTools since it does not map MIDI controller data to plug-in parameters. We understand the value of this function and are looking forward to implementing it in the future. Q: How do I remove the Gearbox plug-in from my computer? A: Depending on the host computer's operating system: XP/Vista: Run the Line 6 Uninstaller & select "All Components": Start/All Programs/Line6/Tools/Line 6 Uninstaller Mac OSX: Please follow the following file path and delete the GearboxAU.component file: Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components/GearBoxAU.component
  7. I'm wanting to connect my Line 6 KB37 toneport to my iPad Air 2 so I can use the midi keyboard to control the keyboard sounds in garage band & use the line inputs. Has anyone got any help / experience / advice? I think I'm going to need to Apple camera connecting kit but not sure if this will do what I want it to. Help please!
  8. To begin with, I'm aware that Hubs are not supported by Line 6 and the TonePort UX2, but I'm hoping someone with a bit more knowledge and experience than myself can make some suggestions to nail a particular incompatibility, or confirm the same problem with their own Surface Pro 2. So the Surface Pro 2 has a single USB3 port and pretty good overall performance. If I plug my UX2 directly in to this USB port, all works well. Very well! Windows 8.1 (full not RT), i5 2.5GHz 4 core, 8GB RAM, x64, 256GB SSD. When I introduce a bus powered USB hub, the device red lights and does not have enough power to fire up - as expected. With a powered USB hub (with nothing else connected), it fires up. I can connect to it fine through PodFarm, Monkey, License manager etc. However, any and all audio sounds like either there is a significant playback rate mis-match (slow, garbled and distorted), or a continually stuttering bus flow. So I've tried several different USB powered Hubs. I've also used a USB analyser (USBlyzer) and when comparing the state between direct connection and via hub, all is identical (connection speed, power usage etc.). Even the event log of playing a windows test sound in both scenarios issue the same commands and get the same close connection results. I also note that while TonePort via a powered hub is not supported, there are instances it works. So I am hopeful there is something further I can uncover here. Any help would be gratefully appreciated! TIA - Omar
  9. Q: What is the KB37 used primarily for? A: It is a 37-key USB MIDI keyboard/control surface and TonePort USB audio interface. The KB37 will be able to send and receive MIDI CC information and process audio input and output across the USB connection to the host computer. Q: What are the knobs in the center top of the keyboard for? A: They are 4 software-assignable MIDI Continuous Control parameter knobs with 4 soft-buttons and a dedicated set of MIDI transport controls. The KB37 can control assignable MIDI parameters in most software synthesizer/samplers on the market today, along with most digital audio recording application sequencer track transport controls. Note: The KB37 does not have any of it's own onboard sounds. It is a MIDI controller that sends MIDI data to the computer and any installed MIDI software synthesizer/sound software. Q: What are the Audio Specs for the TonePort I/O section? A: Sample rate conversion at 16 and 24 bit at 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz. 2 XLR inputs with mic preamps and +48V phantom power. 2 Guitar/Bass Inputs – use the Pad input for guitars and basses with high level pickup outputs, or the normal input. Dual analog VU meters (software assignable to input, record send, and output levels). Q: Can I use GearBox editing software with the KB37? A: Yes, the KB37 is a GearBox software supported TonePort family device. Reference Links: Assigning KB37 Transport Keys To Logic 7 MMC Input must be enabled in Logic 7 in order to receive MMC from the KB37. From the main application menu, open Preferences>MIDI Select the Sync tab Click the MIDI Sync Song Settings button in the bottom right; this launches the Song Settings dialog. In the section labeled "MIDI Machine Control (MMC)" check the "Listen to MMC Input" option Note that this is a per-song option. To make this option global, you must modify your template file. Open Line 6 Audio/MIDI devices. Go to the MIDI tab. Click the Settings button. Choose a preset from the presets list. For each transport control, change the "To MIDI Out" parameter to "MIDI CC", assign a MIDI CC (for this example, we'll use 20-24), and change Switch Mode to Momentary. Click the Apply button, name the preset, click the Save icon and click OK. Click OK on the next screen. Assigning KB37 Transport Keys To Sonar 6 Go to Options/MIDI Devices and choose the KB37 as the input device and choose OK. Go to Options/Controllers/Surfaces. Click the Add New Controller/Surface icon. For Controller/Surface, choose ACT MIDI Controller. Input port should be the KB37. Click OK. Go to Views/Toolbars and ensure Controllers/Surfaces is selected, then close the window. In the Controllers toolbar, click the Controllers/Surfaces Properties button that is at the right end of the Control Surfaces toolbar. Although you can choose any preset, the M-Audio Ozone is laid out closest to the KB37 layout, so use it for this example. In the Controllers tab, you'll see 8 columns, each containing 4 three-row sections, three of which should be labeled "N/A". Go to the last of those 3 rows and click the n/a label to name it Rewind. Name the next 3 N/A fields from left to right: Stop, Play and Record. There is an empty field two slots below each of the labels. When you click the empty field for each of the 4 columns you just set up, press the corresponding transport button on the KB37 and it will be learned by Sonar. Go to the Options tab and under the Buttons category, drop down the second field to choose a control label and the third field to choose the transport control. Uncheck the "Exclude this button from ACT" setting each time. Click in the Presets field to name your new preset then hit the save icon. This preset will be stored and available to use with the KB37. Control Garageband With KB37 In order to control the Transport functions in Garageband with the KB37 you will need to have version 2.0.1 of Garageband or later. The Garageband software cannot do this natively and so you will need to download add-on software that permits MIDI messages to control the play and stop buttons in Garageband. GarageRemote is one such software and is available here: http://www.muratnkonar.com/otherstuff/garageremote/ This software is from the company: murat n konar Once GarageRemote is installed and set up, start GarageRemote's Listener off by default) so that it can relay MIDI notifications to GarageBand. GarageBand responds to MIDI CC 007 and 010 for current track volume and pan, and these parameters can be assigned to the existing GarageBand MIDI preset of the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices settings. Setting Up The KB37 Transport With Cubase The KB37 has control wheels and buttons like many other Mackie or others transport cotrollers. You can get the two working together by simply going into: device setup, click on the + button, add MIDI MACHINE CONTROL SLAVE, and select the Line 6 Toneport KB37 from the menu on the right. In order to set the control on the KB37 itself you will need to go to: Line 6 Audio Midi Devices in your Control Panel and select the MIDI tab. Setting Up The KB37 To Control Reason First, ensure that you have downloaded and installed the latest version of Line 6 Monkey. Run it and verify that your TonePort KB37 is running the latest driver, firmware and flash memory. Download the latest version of GearBox application and install it to your computer. Launch the "Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices" program from the Line 6/Tools folder. Next, make sure the KB37 is the active device. Select the MIDI tab and from the drop-down list of Controller Mapping applications, select Reason (version #). You are now ready to use the KB37's transport, Sound Select and 4 assignable real-time parameter controls with Reason. Keep in mind that you will be using the default parameter control settings. If you wish to customize those, click on the "Settings" button to access the Parameter Map screen. The drop-down list titled "MIDI CC/Action" is where you can modify which device parameters are to be controlled by the available controllers on the KB37. Keep in mind that each Reason Device has it's specific parameter CC# assignment. To access those values, refer to the "MIDI Implementation Chart" located in the Documentation folder within the Reason application folder on your computer's hard drive.
  10. TonePort UX8 Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is TonePort UX8 an audio interface or software? Does it record? A: TonePort UX8 is a USB audio interface. Every TonePort audio interface works with the included GearBox modeling software as an integrated hardware/software system. The TonePort device gets audio signals into your computer and GearBox software makes everything you record sound amazing. TonePort UX8 is a unique integration of professional hardware and amp and effects modeling software. Designed with high quality electrical components and a rugged exterior, TonePort UX8 provides a wide dynamic range and an exceedingly low noise floor. The UX8, like every TonePort device, works together with the included GearBox software as an integrated hardware/software system, making everything you record sound amazing. Additionally, TonePort UX8 features Line 6's exclusive ToneDirect Monitoring, which lets you hear your GearBox-processed signal instantaneously, providing unmatched responsiveness while you record. Q: What is ToneDirect monitoring? A: ToneDirect monitoring allows you to monitor a fully processed signal with extremely low latency, regardless of the buffer size of your recording application. This means that there is an incredibly small delay between when you play a note and when you actually hear the sound from your speakers. This is unusual among audio interfaces because with other more traditional monitoring solutions, you either have to listen to processed audio with significant latency, often such that it is hard to play along with what you are recording or listen to a signal with no processing. It's uninspiring to say the least to hear completely dry electric guitar with no amp, cab, or effect processing. Q: What is GearBox? A: GearBox is the standalone software application that works with your TonePort audio interface, providing everything you need to record professional sounding tracks. GearBox contains models of vintage and modern amps, speaker cabinets, stompbox and studio effects for guitar, bass and vocals and can be applied while recording to any pair of inputs. Q: Can I apply Gearbox effects to all 8 inputs at once? A: Yes, using the Gearbox plug-in that is included with the UX8. Q: Will Gearbox be able to record at 96K? A: The UX8 driver can process audio at 96K, but Gearbox operates at 48K. Gearbox converts the 96k signal from the UX8 driver, converts it to 48k, processes it, then sends the signal to the UX8 driver, which then converts the signal to 96k. Q: Can I use TonePort UX8 without the GearBox software? A: Yes, you can use the TonePort hardware without GearBox software. Q: Can you re-amp with UX8? A: Not the same way you can with a PODxt, but you can via the GearBox Plug-In. The method for re-amping with a PODxt is pointed out in Knowledge Base document 3940. Q: What is GearBox Plug-In? A: GearBox Plug-In is a VST, AU and RTAS plug-in, providing the same models as the standalone application and additional flexibility when mixing and mastering. Q: Is the GearBox Plug-In included with TonePort UX8? A: Yes, it is. Q: Are TonePort UX8 and GearBox Intel Mac compatible? A: Yes, they are. Q: What recording software can I use with TonePort UX8? A: Every TonePort supports the ASIO standard on Windows and Core Audio on the Macintosh and should work well with any recording application that supports one of these protocols. The UX8 is designed to work with most major applications such as ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar and Ableton Live. Q: Can I use TonePort UX8 and GearBox processing as a front end for Pro Tools? A: Yes, if your Pro Tools® hardware interface has a S/PDIF input you can run the stereo S/PDIF output of your TonePort UX8 directly into your Pro Tools hardware, complete with ToneDirectâ„¢ monitoring and GearBox processing. You can also utilize the Pro Tools compatible RTAS-format GearBox Plug-In for mixing and mastering. Q: Is RiffWorks 2 Line 6 Edition compatible with TonePort UX8? A: No, RiffWorks Line 6 and Riffworks 2 Line 6 Edition are not compatible with the UX8. However, the Standard Edition (full version) of Riffworks available for purchase through the Sonoma WireWorks website: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/. Q: Can I expand the model set of TonePort UX8 with Line 6 Model Packs? A: Yes, you can. They are available as optional Model Pack purchases from our online Store. Q: Can I transfer model packs that I purchased on another Line 6 hardware device over to my new UX8? A: Yes. Once you've purchased a model pack license key, that key remains with your user account indefinitely. You cannot, however have two or more different registered hardware devices running the same model pack simultaneously. Only one hardware device can have the model pack installed on it at any given time. Q: Do the gain controls on the front panel control the line input jacks on the back of the unit? A: The gain controls the input level of the XLR inputs, not the instrument cable inputs (as these are assuming line level and most instruments will have their own level control). Q: What do the VU meters do on TonePort UX8? A: The GearBox application allows you to assign the signal that is monitored by the VU meters to various audio sources: including input, record send, output and monitor levels. Q: How accurate are the VU meters on the UX8 in relation to the meters in the software? A: Very accurate, with the smallest of variance between Gearbox and the physical meters. Q: What will happen if my signal clips the unbalanced analog input on the UX8? A: The clipping will be a "natural clipping". The cure is to lower the incoming signal at the source. Q: How many Instruments/Mics can I record at one time? Since you are monitoring directly out of the UX8, am I going to experience any latency when recording all 8 inputs? A: 8 inputs can be recorded at any given time. Outputs 1 & 2 are monitored via ToneDirect, with the remaining outputs monitored from the hardware at near zero latency. Q: Can the phantom power from the UX8 damage my dynamic mic? A: No, it will not. Q: What is the signal to noise ratio on the analog inputs? A: The UX8 has an input signal to noise ratio of .005% THD, with a dynamic range of 111 dB. Q: What do flashing lights on the unit mean? A: The LED status indicators (Main Mute and Main Clip LEDs provide secondary functions in their ability to indicate the connection status of USB and S/PDIF) as follows: No USB connection: The main clip LEDs alternate steadily between left and right, about once every second. The USB cable may be unplugged or the UX8 driver may not be installed on your computer. No S/PDIF clock sync: The Mute LED blinks 3 times rapidly about once every second when the clock mode set to S/PDIF, and no external clock is present. Q: What are the dimensions and weight of the UX8? A: The UX8 is a standard two-unit rack space module, with dimensions of 17"w x 7"d (8" with knobs) x 3.5"h. The shipping weight is 11.6 lbs. Known Issues: An incompatibility for systems running on Intel ICH10 USB Chipsets; UX8 will hang the user's computer system. The solution for this is to use a PCI USB 2.0 interface card to connect UX8. Record buss mis-routing of UX8 in Gearbox when recording into DAW Gearbox is remembering POD Farm 1 and 2 Record send settings if PF (1 or 2) was used before Gearbox program. Workaround is to reset the Record Send settings that were made in POD Farm 1 or 2, or to reboot the computer.
  11. Hi. My Toneport ux2 won't connect to gearbox on my mac... Is this simply because LIne6 haven't released the macOS Sierra version of Gearbox? If so does anyone know when this will be released? Cheers
  13. Apple's new OS Mojave 10.14, has implemented a new security feature that can block input signals if not allowed access. Once a user has launched a DAW or stand alone plugin for the first time after the Mojave update, they will prompted to "allow mic access." If mic access is denied, user will not be able to receive an input via the specified software. To manually approve your software navigate to: System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy > Microphone From this menu, user will be granted the ability to approve any software that was previously denied.
  14. hello, I'm pretty new to MIDI, but since I recently bought a KORG Volca Keys unit, I was wondering if I could use my Toneport KB37 as the MIDI controller for this device without first going through a computer? I'm asking because in all the forums and manuals it always mentions going through a computer, and of course the kb37 does not have the MIDI DIN connector. if I get a USB-MIDI converter cable (or SPDIF-MIDI??), can I just plug the kb37 into the Volca and have it work? what kind of cable do I need, in case it needs a special cable? and, you know: just all the other silly noob questions about (this) midi setup that you can think of... ;) thanks, Eric. PS: this is a video of the KORG Volca Keys with a midi keyboard setup, I'm looking for something similar, but with the KB37 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVTm0mT53fU
  15. Hi , I own POD X3 and Toneport DI . Is it possible to transfer the license Of POD farm2 on my X3 to my toneport DI
  16. I want to use my UX8 for live streaming, and the only audio signal that broadcasts is the Dry signal. On my UX2 it never had this problem, any possible fixes?
  17. Hello, I use Line 6 UX2 with Podfarm as software to play my guitar. So this is how I usually connect: Guitar -> UX2 -> Computer (Podfarm) | Headphones Now I bought a Loop pedal and I do this: Guitar -> Loop Pedal -> UX2 -> Computer (Podfarm) | Headphones And it works perfectly fine! No delay or whatsoever. My question is whenever I play something, let's say Am C D F as a loop with CLEAN sound and then on my Layer 2 want to play solo over this, and click "Pedal ON" on my Podfarm the Layer 1 also changes. So how do I solve this problem? I want to be able to: Layer 1. Clean acoustic sound, looping! Layer 2. Distortion Solo. Layer 3. Another sound etc. So how do I do this with the UX2? Please help.
  18. Hi, everyone, Hoping for some help here. I have recently purchased a POD UX2 for home recording, replacing an older pair of PODs for bass and guitar. I am slowly getting my tones dialed in where I want them, but am having trouble with one thing in particular. I have a great bass tone with some distortion on it to get a grindy, almost Mötorhead kind of sound from my 5-string, and that's what I want to use for most of my bass tracks. However, I also need to get a good, "clean" bass tone as well with no fuzz or distortion for quieter parts. My problem is, no matter what amp model I choose and no matter what cab, settings, or effects I use or don't use, I'm just not getting a completely clean tone. If I play at normal velocity, either pick or fingers, the output sounds "clipped", like a harsh, buzzsaw sound overlaying the smooth bass tone. I'm checking the line in levels before the effects, the output levels, and the ultimate output level in my DAW (which is GarageBand for the time being), but I see that I'm nowhere near clipping anywhere; I've got at least 6-15 dB of headroom, depending on where I'm measuring it. I can lower the "drive" setting on any of the amps and dial it mostly out (mostly, it's still there if you really dig in), but then the output is so low as to be almost inaudible. I'd like to know if this is just a matter of finding the right amp and cab combo, if there's something I need to be doing on the instrument end, or if this is just an artifact of how the amps were modeled, and there's just clipping somewhere in the chain I can't get rid of. I've tried this with four different basses -- a Rogue P-Bass with passive pickups, a Kramer Baretta with dual-rail passives, an Epiphone Thunderbird with stock passives, and an Ibanez SRC6 with passive EMG-HZs and an active EMG-based preamp. Regardless of settings, bass, or anything else, whenever I get anywhere near a volume that is comparable to any of my other tones for guitar or distorted bass, I get that buzzing, clipping noise again, but again, I'm not seeing anything near clipping input levels anywhere in the chain. Is this something up with my UX2, or am I just not understanding how the models work correctly? Thank you, Rob

  20. Hi! I'm having a very weird issue with my UX1. I use my toneport to send midi keyboard sound out of ableton live using an old MacBook white, last week my old laptop hard drive died and had to replace it. After installing ableton and line 6 stuff I haven't been able to use the interface, no installation errors or such. Has someone experienced something similar? Thanks in advanced!
  21. Hi! I updated my MacBook Pro 2015 to macOS sierra (10.12.3) and now I get choppy audio output with my Toneport UX8. There are a lot of short gaps and listening to music or watching video is really a pain. I tried it with different audio programs. Even the system sounds are choppy. It worked well with El Capitan. So it must be a problem with the new OS version or with the drivers. I already downloaded the latest driver version 7.6.7 but it didn't help. There are no other programs running which could interfere with the audio output. CPU usage is very low. Is anybody else experiencing the same problem with UX8 or another Toneport or Line6 device? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot! Michel
  22. Not sure who or where to ask so I figured why not post here? I've had a UX8 for a few years. No real issues until now. I'm running Windows 10, Brand spanking new dedicated recording PC. Mixcraft 7 as my DAW. Software all up to date. No other software running. CPU clocked at 0-1% within DAW. So from my opinion zero software issues. The UX8 had dirty pots so 2 months ago I gave it a good cleaning. Alcohol, Q-tips, and compressed air. I took a good look around the board while I was in there. Everything looked good. No swollen or burnt components. After cleaning, the pots all sounded good. No more crackling. First Problem: Instrument channels 1-2 on the front are acting like there gated. There are 2 Hi-Z inputs on the front face of the UX8 for instruments. Either I never noticed before(because I don't DI guitar ever) or it just started. You strum the guitar with a good effort and you can see the channel reaching to 0db but then depending on your attack and sustain the volume will drop. If you strum full force over and over you can hear a fading in the signal. It pulses down and up, down and up. You can also see the signal LED fading with the signal. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Are the front 2 instrument channels processed? If so can you turn off or adjust the gating? I'm not running gearbox so I would assume they are unprocessed? If there are no settings to change, and its not a user issue(ya me), then what could be the issue? Second Problem: Having level differences between rear xlr channels. Same mic and same cable come though some channels really quietly. Could this be dirty/faulty inputs? Need to reclean? Third Problem: Upon setting up the UX8 with the new Computer, and checking inputs for clarity, levels, etc. I noticed that while switching from mic to line in channel 7 there is a popping. I'm not talking about physically swapping cables, I'm referring to changing channels in the preferences menu of my DAW. You click from mic to line and POP! Line to mic and POP! No other channels do this. What do you think more dirt and dust in there?
  23. Hi there, I am currently using a UX8 into Logic Pro X for my recording needs. I had a Saffire Pro 40 for a while but then it died on me and I needed a quick backup. Turned out I really liked the UX8 in comparison. But I am now at the crossing point in which I could use some more inputs as I do full live recordings of bands and 8 inputs can easily be used on just my drum bus. I know within apple there is an ability to make an aggregate device and by plugging in two UX8's and making an aggregate device I could POSSIBLY solve my problems. Just wondering if anyone has done this or has a better way to do so. If I was using the saffire I could just hook up an ADAT interface and rout it through that way, but the UX8 lacks an ADAT input. Thanks in advance!
  24. I have An Apple MacBook Pro i7, running El Captain 10.11.6. I recently upgraded to El Captain and did not have any issues using GearBox with Yosemite. If I launch GearBox without my TonePort UX2 plugged into the USB, GearBox will start up just fine but when I plug the USB in for my UX2 I get the pinwheel of death. If I launch GearBox and have my UX2 plugged in before i launch, it gets stuck on "Initializing DSP" I downloaded POD Farm 2 and it woks but only in a trial capacity as I have not purchased the program, but it does works with Garageband. I can launch Garage Band and use my TonePort and the effects Garage Band has pre installed. All my drivers are up to date according to Monkey. It all seems to revolve around GearBox. Any known solutions to this?
  25. Hi, I know there's a guy with a similar issue to me in another topic, which I've replied to, but I thought I'd post something myself in case someone can give me an answer more directly/quickly. The first time I tried using it I had a bass guitar plugged directly in and was getting some levels in Logic ready to record, all was working fine, I was getting sound and levels on the front of the device. But, for seemingly no reason, the device randomly froze up, the VUs stopped moving and the sound cut out. Not only that but pressing the power button did nothing, it remained lit up. I even left it like that for a while to see if it might sort itself out but nothing. Finally, I just had to switch off the main power at the wall and then it turned off. I'm nowhere near a service centre, unfortunately, so if anyone's got any advice or maybe encountered this problem before and fixed it and could help, I'd be hugely grateful!! Many thanks, Paul
