  1. Hi All, I have a problem with Toneport UX2. I use Acid Music studio 11 (Magix software), and I'd like to use Pod Farm or gearbox as a VST. I scanned the appropriate folder int the Acid to see the VST-s in it. So I can find the Pod Farm and Gearbox VSTs in the Acid and can use it in the effect section. I'd like to ecord a dry signal, and use the plugin as an effect. Like this: https://youtu.be/RBMkLxO-E0o When I select the Gearbox or the Pod Farm, I cannot use it. The Pod Farm says, connect an authorized device (however it's connected). Gearbox says, run Line6 monkey, and activate. Of course, my UX2 is activated, all devices and computer is authorised in License manager. My windows an daw is legally purchased :) If I choose Pod Farm guitar amps, and Pod farm distortions as an effect, I can hear the sound changes, but the interface doesn't appear and I could not configured sounds, amp models etc. So the plugin works, but maybe the software didn't "see" the hardware through the Acid. However it works (processing) when I use separate effects in an effect chain... Anybody has experienced the same? Any suggestions? thanks for response. ;) Best regards. András
  2. I have a TonePort UX-1 that I've used for years with Ableton Live. The software was Gearbox. I recently tried to set up my system and realized that Gearbox is discontinued. Is there another free alternative that will work with the UX-1?
  3. i have updated my line 6 UX1 to the latest driver 4.2.7.7 from 4.2.7.6 but when i go to "Line 6 audio-MIDI devices settings" i cannot change the bit depth or buffer size. when i select another size or bit rate, it just reverts back to default. the previous update did not do this. i have uninstalled all line 6 drivers and updated to the new one. i had no luck so i reverted back to the previous update. i would like to update this thing! please help!
  5. Apple's new OS Mojave 10.14, has implemented a new security feature that can block input signals if not allowed access. Once a user has launched a DAW or stand alone plugin for the first time after the Mojave update, they will prompted to "allow mic access." If mic access is denied, user will not be able to receive an input via the specified software. To manually approve your software navigate to: System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy > Microphone From this menu, user will be granted the ability to approve any software that was previously denied.
  6. Hi , I own POD X3 and Toneport DI . Is it possible to transfer the license Of POD farm2 on my X3 to my toneport DI
  7. I want to use my UX8 for live streaming, and the only audio signal that broadcasts is the Dry signal. On my UX2 it never had this problem, any possible fixes?
  8. Hello, I use Line 6 UX2 with Podfarm as software to play my guitar. So this is how I usually connect: Guitar -> UX2 -> Computer (Podfarm) | Headphones Now I bought a Loop pedal and I do this: Guitar -> Loop Pedal -> UX2 -> Computer (Podfarm) | Headphones And it works perfectly fine! No delay or whatsoever. My question is whenever I play something, let's say Am C D F as a loop with CLEAN sound and then on my Layer 2 want to play solo over this, and click "Pedal ON" on my Podfarm the Layer 1 also changes. So how do I solve this problem? I want to be able to: Layer 1. Clean acoustic sound, looping! Layer 2. Distortion Solo. Layer 3. Another sound etc. So how do I do this with the UX2? Please help.
  9. need a help recently re-installing my pc, I found many missing amps & effects in gearbox, also in my podfarm 1.12. and worst, i cant connect my ux8 through line monkey, it was no devices detected, also my ux8 dont appear in license manager :(
  10. Hi, everyone, Hoping for some help here. I have recently purchased a POD UX2 for home recording, replacing an older pair of PODs for bass and guitar. I am slowly getting my tones dialed in where I want them, but am having trouble with one thing in particular. I have a great bass tone with some distortion on it to get a grindy, almost Mötorhead kind of sound from my 5-string, and that's what I want to use for most of my bass tracks. However, I also need to get a good, "clean" bass tone as well with no fuzz or distortion for quieter parts. My problem is, no matter what amp model I choose and no matter what cab, settings, or effects I use or don't use, I'm just not getting a completely clean tone. If I play at normal velocity, either pick or fingers, the output sounds "clipped", like a harsh, buzzsaw sound overlaying the smooth bass tone. I'm checking the line in levels before the effects, the output levels, and the ultimate output level in my DAW (which is GarageBand for the time being), but I see that I'm nowhere near clipping anywhere; I've got at least 6-15 dB of headroom, depending on where I'm measuring it. I can lower the "drive" setting on any of the amps and dial it mostly out (mostly, it's still there if you really dig in), but then the output is so low as to be almost inaudible. I'd like to know if this is just a matter of finding the right amp and cab combo, if there's something I need to be doing on the instrument end, or if this is just an artifact of how the amps were modeled, and there's just clipping somewhere in the chain I can't get rid of. I've tried this with four different basses -- a Rogue P-Bass with passive pickups, a Kramer Baretta with dual-rail passives, an Epiphone Thunderbird with stock passives, and an Ibanez SRC6 with passive EMG-HZs and an active EMG-based preamp. Regardless of settings, bass, or anything else, whenever I get anywhere near a volume that is comparable to any of my other tones for guitar or distorted bass, I get that buzzing, clipping noise again, but again, I'm not seeing anything near clipping input levels anywhere in the chain. Is this something up with my UX2, or am I just not understanding how the models work correctly? Thank you, Rob
  11. Hello! I've had a Line 6 Toneport UX2 for a couple of years now. Recently I got a new desktop PC running windows 10. When i connect my toneport all I can hear coming from the outputs and the phones output is a loud hissing noise. Drivers are all up to date, line 6 monkey shows me all green ticks, asio drivers are all ok. the input vu-meter is always at maximum even though nothing is connected to it. no input signal, no output sound (except for the loud hiss.) Running it in a usb 2.0 on the motherboard (so no usb dongle or something like that). Tried it with all ports, a couple of different usb cables. I've also tried seeing if my PC's output voltage was the problem but everything is ok, no overclocking done. I'm running out of ideas. Could anyone help me with this?
  12. Hi! I'm having a very weird issue with my UX1. I use my toneport to send midi keyboard sound out of ableton live using an old MacBook white, last week my old laptop hard drive died and had to replace it. After installing ableton and line 6 stuff I haven't been able to use the interface, no installation errors or such. Has someone experienced something similar? Thanks in advanced!
  13. Hi! I updated my MacBook Pro 2015 to macOS sierra (10.12.3) and now I get choppy audio output with my Toneport UX8. There are a lot of short gaps and listening to music or watching video is really a pain. I tried it with different audio programs. Even the system sounds are choppy. It worked well with El Capitan. So it must be a problem with the new OS version or with the drivers. I already downloaded the latest driver version 7.6.7 but it didn't help. There are no other programs running which could interfere with the audio output. CPU usage is very low. Is anybody else experiencing the same problem with UX8 or another Toneport or Line6 device? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot! Michel
  14. Not sure who or where to ask so I figured why not post here? I've had a UX8 for a few years. No real issues until now. I'm running Windows 10, Brand spanking new dedicated recording PC. Mixcraft 7 as my DAW. Software all up to date. No other software running. CPU clocked at 0-1% within DAW. So from my opinion zero software issues. The UX8 had dirty pots so 2 months ago I gave it a good cleaning. Alcohol, Q-tips, and compressed air. I took a good look around the board while I was in there. Everything looked good. No swollen or burnt components. After cleaning, the pots all sounded good. No more crackling. First Problem: Instrument channels 1-2 on the front are acting like there gated. There are 2 Hi-Z inputs on the front face of the UX8 for instruments. Either I never noticed before(because I don't DI guitar ever) or it just started. You strum the guitar with a good effort and you can see the channel reaching to 0db but then depending on your attack and sustain the volume will drop. If you strum full force over and over you can hear a fading in the signal. It pulses down and up, down and up. You can also see the signal LED fading with the signal. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Are the front 2 instrument channels processed? If so can you turn off or adjust the gating? I'm not running gearbox so I would assume they are unprocessed? If there are no settings to change, and its not a user issue(ya me), then what could be the issue? Second Problem: Having level differences between rear xlr channels. Same mic and same cable come though some channels really quietly. Could this be dirty/faulty inputs? Need to reclean? Third Problem: Upon setting up the UX8 with the new Computer, and checking inputs for clarity, levels, etc. I noticed that while switching from mic to line in channel 7 there is a popping. I'm not talking about physically swapping cables, I'm referring to changing channels in the preferences menu of my DAW. You click from mic to line and POP! Line to mic and POP! No other channels do this. What do you think more dirt and dust in there?
  15. Hi. My Toneport ux2 won't connect to gearbox on my mac... Is this simply because LIne6 haven't released the macOS Sierra version of Gearbox? If so does anyone know when this will be released? Cheers
  16. I'm wanting to connect my Line 6 KB37 toneport to my iPad Air 2 so I can use the midi keyboard to control the keyboard sounds in garage band & use the line inputs. Has anyone got any help / experience / advice? I think I'm going to need to Apple camera connecting kit but not sure if this will do what I want it to. Help please!
  17. I have An Apple MacBook Pro i7, running El Captain 10.11.6. I recently upgraded to El Captain and did not have any issues using GearBox with Yosemite. If I launch GearBox without my TonePort UX2 plugged into the USB, GearBox will start up just fine but when I plug the USB in for my UX2 I get the pinwheel of death. If I launch GearBox and have my UX2 plugged in before i launch, it gets stuck on "Initializing DSP" I downloaded POD Farm 2 and it woks but only in a trial capacity as I have not purchased the program, but it does works with Garageband. I can launch Garage Band and use my TonePort and the effects Garage Band has pre installed. All my drivers are up to date according to Monkey. It all seems to revolve around GearBox. Any known solutions to this?
  18. Hi, I know there's a guy with a similar issue to me in another topic, which I've replied to, but I thought I'd post something myself in case someone can give me an answer more directly/quickly. The first time I tried using it I had a bass guitar plugged directly in and was getting some levels in Logic ready to record, all was working fine, I was getting sound and levels on the front of the device. But, for seemingly no reason, the device randomly froze up, the VUs stopped moving and the sound cut out. Not only that but pressing the power button did nothing, it remained lit up. I even left it like that for a while to see if it might sort itself out but nothing. Finally, I just had to switch off the main power at the wall and then it turned off. I'm nowhere near a service centre, unfortunately, so if anyone's got any advice or maybe encountered this problem before and fixed it and could help, I'd be hugely grateful!! Many thanks, Paul
  19. Hi, I have been using hardware dependent Pod Farm with my TonePort UX2 for the last few years to record guitar into Cubase. I now want to sell my physical TonePort audio interface but still use the Pod Farm software in Cubase to process the 'dry' guitar. I am aware that to do this I need to purchase the hardware independent version of Pod Farm separately. However I am concerned that I will then lose the tones I am using in Cubase projects as the hardware independent version will be a separate plugin in Cubase rather than just authorising the existing Pod Farm without the hardware if that makes sense? Any help on this is much appreciated, thanks.
  20. I bought a UX8 about 4-5 years ago and when I brought it home it was obvious that it had already been opened and looked like it was either sold and returned once before or maybe was refurbished or something. When I opened the box there were no cords or cables of any kind that came with it so I had to use other USB and power cable's I already had for it. So as far as the power cable is concerned, since I am having problems with the power and I want to make sure I am using the right cable's, my question is... The back of the UX8 says -- 100 - 240V~ 50 - 60Hz 100 W Max. When it comes to the actual writing or imprint on the power cable what should it read?? Also with the USB, is there a particular type of cable I need to use? Thanks in advance for any advice or help.
  21. I have a ux8 that I bought probably about 4-5 years ago that I used mainly for recording drums. I have not used it though in about 1 1/2 - 2 years and it seems like there is a problem with the power. When I first plugged in the power cable and usb and hit the power button nothing lit up. After I hit the power button a couple of times it finally lit up but my computer would not recognize anything on the usb port. First I tried with an old p.c. someone had given me that still has windows xp on it and I had too many problems, not only with the power but also with the usb port recognizing it and with monkey not downloading and installing the drivers properly. So then I decided to instead try my mac and install everything and tried it on there but the drivers still will not download properly or at least monkey keeps saying that I need to DL new drivers or there is a little yellow triangle with a !. But the power is really what seems to be more of the problem. Most of the time it does not turn on or at least the 2 gauges do not light up and the 2 different times they did light up when I hit the power button the 2 lights did not turn off??? Did not matter how many times I hit the power button they would either not turn on at all or the 2 different times they did turn on when hitting the power button, would not turn off. I'm stumped.
  22. I just installed Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan on my MacBook Air. I waited a while to install this specifically because the Line 6 drivers are always bad early on. Sure enough, I've updated my drivers and now when I output from my Toneport UX2 using the analog outs into my monitors or through my headphones there's a constant crackling noise coming out. Please help me fix this.
  23. Look, I'm a programmer myself, I know what I'm talking about. You, line6, have no resources to tackle issues with the legacy Gearbox. You can't support something that makes no new revenue. I know. But the issues are still ridiculously sad: on Windows 8.1 my Gearbox eats a whole processor (100% CPU load in one core), which makes to my CPU fan scream like crazy. I have found this issue from 2010. 6 years went and STILL NO PATCH. Last night I have read a solution to that: start Gearbox, start Monkey, exit Monkey => CPU usage back to 1-2%. So my suggestion is: if you can't support, let the community find that 2 lines of sad code and fix it. Everybody wins. We, users, can enjoy our devices without calling the customer support names, you can enjoy the fact that people will trust you.
  24. Hello! I am having an issue with the microphone input on an old Toneport UX1 (Asio4All drivers - latest version) and Pro Tools 12. My input look OK (I think? - I tried to delete them all and set the as default again) - see screenshot attached but when I record a track, I can't get the Microphone to work (Mic gain is not at 0 and there is no On/off button on the Mic :) When I plug in my guitar, it works on both inputs (Line 6 TonePort UX1 1 or Line 6 Toneport UX1 2)... it looks like the 2 inputs showed there are for the guitar ? What about the microphone...how can I get/set the input so that I can record from the microphone ? If someone could help me out with this ! Thanks !
  25. Hi, when connecting the balanced outputs of the UX8 to the unbalanced inputs of the Roland MC-909 should I use a balanced or unbalanced cable? What effect would using balanced vs. unbalanced have on the signal?
