After 15 years, I switched from a Spider IV 75 to a Spider V 240 mk2 and I’m having a hard time finding comparable tones. The Spider IV had a built-in tone called Arachnophobia that I can’t find anywhere. So far, the V’s tone's generally seem tinnier (for lack of a better word). I’m missing the growl of the IV and haven’t been able to match it. I’m a late bloomer with guitar and admittedly not great at dialing in tones. Has anyone out there made a similar switch? Any insights are appreciated.

Does anyone have a suggested setting for the lead guitar in That Thing You Do by The Wonders (The Oneders! )

Hello All, I was just searching through Custom Tones looking at some preset tones for my Amp. I searched using the various filters when suddenly I realized; this could be infinitely improved with a few small changes. The first and most obvious (to me) was the search filter of Rating doesn't take into account the number of downloads! This is bonkers, bananas and just plain wrong. A custom tone with a rating of five out of a possible five stars which has been downloaded two times should NEVER be considered equal to or even close to a custom tone rated as five stars which has been downloaded two thousand times! The second tone has been given a perfect rating by 2000 grumpy, nit-picking Line 6 users - while the other has been downloaded by it's creator's two best friends Hob and Nob. Of course they're going to give his tone a perfect rating - he hasn't made fun of either name! The other filter or search upgrade which I believe might prove helpful, but currently doesn't exist (and I could have missed it or simply be mistaken ... I'm quite fallible) is searching using several combined filters ... pretty self-explanatory stuff. Hey, thanks for reading as well as any consideration you may give. Cheers, Jim Ps - You want the best tools for the job out in this big world. You DO NOT wanna be the guy in a street fight who only knows capoeira!

request List of tones for POD XT live?
unna posted a topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Hello! I'm now the happy owner of a POD XT live unit, and I'm enjoying it very much. Unfortunately, I haven't found a single place (and I went through the user manual in detail) where the list of default tones is detailed. I would like to look up a document (pamphlet, card, cheat sheet, whatever), looking for the traits of the sound I'm looking for, in order to locate it easily, instead of going through all the voices, bank by bank, trying to remember (or jotting on a napkin) the ones I might be interested in. Does anyone here now of some resource that could be useful to me? Thanks in advance. -
Hey folks! Looking for some help here regarding snapshots as I can't seem to find my specific question in any forums or tutorials... I downloaded a few free presets, and they are great, but were created as individual presets for each tone. (ex. Preset 1 = Clean, Preset 2 = Rhythm, Preset 3 = Lead, etc...) I am wanting to copy those individual Presets, and paste it into one preset utilizing different snapshots, but can't seem to find a way to do this in HX Edit. I currently have my Helix in Snapshot mode, and would like to consolidate these great tones into 1 preset. Is there a quick and easy way? Thank you all for the help.

Hi, if you are anything like me than you like modeling your sounds around other bands and either playing their songs or are using the tones to establish your sound. this is a thread that helps you in the journey to knowing what your favourite bands and artist use, from what guitars they use to amps and effects. To start off Anderton's TV Sounds Like https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQXro2VDjyIxdCSplV_Zk4qQbbZc2qTCU Second will be a site that catalogs pretty much every artist and what they have used https://equipboard.com/ Reverb.com also has a series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Tcg5_RyWA0&list=PL6gRE6x7kQfp-4EGruNpHx0Fa9aA6x9oI If you know of any other videos than feel free to post below! p.s Upvote my comments if you like 'em!

I just wondered if anyone has the same situation with the custom Tones available to upload. Some are very thoughtful and some, well you smoked too much green! Please describe at least the type of tone you are going for or an album, name, and even you that created it! There must be 100 Tones for the same songs but titled differently! Please add in the comments what you were going for. Please remember I want to keep my amp so volume levels are crucial! Thanks Guys some of these just need minor (Self imposed) adjustments!!

Anyone else notice a significant difference between the following: - Recorded Helix playback - ie guitar track recorded by helix, into software and then played back - And live playing ie just playing into helix (not recording), sound coming out of speaker Both of the above use the same amplification (powercab set to FRFR) I noticed scenario one sounds much better! Sidenote: when i use my variax I always prefer the recorded playback to the sound I get when playing live. Anyone else experienced anything similar. It is frustrating as the tone I want is provided via the recorded playback - not so keen the live sound i'm getting. If any of the above makes sense i'd appreciate some help. Thanks, Dave

Aloha, Can you help me figure this out please? I want to cover the RAdiohead song Subterranean Homesick Alien. I need to get my sound right. The lead guitar has lots of effects. I don't even know where to begin. First off, I know nothing of effects. I've been playing guitar for a long time but all I've really had was a metal peddle and a wah peddle. I know nothing. I also have kids so I have no time to figure this stuff out. Any advice is appreciated. I googled this topic and found many people making suggestions but they do not match up with the tones I have available to me on my Line 6 Spider V. People have suggested that the sound was created using a Roland Space Echo and a Whammy 1. Also perhaps a phaser and tape delay. Any suggestions of how I can create this sound using my Spider V? Thanks in advance!!!

I’ve been playing my hd500 almost every single weekend for the best 2 years. I love the thing. It does everything I need. I run it direct to PA with stage sound. I have IEM’s in which I run a direct feed from my board so I can control my mix guitar volume. Actually entire band is on IEMs so there is 0 stage volume minus a bass cab and drums. So here’s where I’m getting at. My main tone is modeled after an EVH high gain tone. I use a two amp combo (boogie model and Marshall model ). I’ve had quite a few sound guys say they love my tone however when I reflect back on videos of us playing I am always disappointed. I always feel that my tone just doesn’t sound “big” enough. I can’t tell this from my iem mix. I know I can’t exactly judge this by a video recording but it still worries me lol. Does anyone have any tips toward achieving a nice full big distortion main tone with an hd500?? Another fear of mine is also “over-doing” it and just muddying up my tone.

I have my Helix set up to show the songs on the top row and the snapshots for each song below. So I can have a song chosen and below I can have one snapshot as the intro, One as the verse, One as the chorus. etc. My problem is that when I change the 2nd snapshot it changes the tone universally. So each snapshot changes to the new sounds. What I am trying to do is make every snapshot a different part. Is there something that I have set incorrectly? Thanks

I know there is a general topic for tones and what not. These really aren't tones. In fact they are a lack thereof. These is ideal for those who want to start from scratch or a basic starting point to craft their own sound, or are just too easily distracted by what you get packaged in the amp. Consider them blank canvases. Installation is simple. Just download them to your PC, If you have any tones currently loaded into your Amp, be sure to back them up. And then click "restore," and load the downloaded svl6a file. This will wipe everything saved on your amp, so be sure to back up your tones or banks if you wish to use them later. After you do this, the only way to recover will be to restore a backed up bank, or reset the Spider V back to factory settings, which will restore the factory tones only. I will be adding variations to this idea as time goes on. Here I've taken the liberty of replacing all the tones with the default settings for the USER tones. Basically it's an empty tone bank as the name implies. Spider V Blank Tone Bank.svl6a On this one I've basically emptied out the tone bank and placed all the amps in their own slots for quick navigation. I have done nothing to the settings for the amps themselves, these are the stock settings for them on the Spider V. Another nice starting point to get familiar with what is available on the Spider V. Surf through them easily, pick one and build your sound from there. Spider V Amp Starter Bank.svl6a This idea for this is basically the same as the Amp Starter, only this time we start with the Cabinets. It seemed kind of silly to just use up only 25 slots in the bank so I have included the four mic settings for each Amp. I know that for many it doesn't make much of a difference what mic you use, but they are in there for giggles. I think you need to have your cab Modeling switch to "On" in order for this to be of any use. Spider V Cab Starter Bank.svl6a

I finally found a great deal on a (not) scratch n dent V-Standard at SW, and after 2.2 days I'm starting to get blown away. Let me back up. I entered the modeling realm with an HD500 when they were fresh (what, 2010?), thinking that I'd have more capability than the Spider Valve MkI that amazed me. First thing I noticed on the POD was that all the stock presets sucked. Playing at very low volume, I had to develop my own, which relied on a fair bit more gain than I'd normally go for in order to achieve any kind of crunch. I moved from FRFR to DT amps, but still, always kinda had more gain than I wanted (except when I went totally clean with the lovely Twin model). I picked up a Variax 600 and finally reached "dream rig" status, but really only liked the Strat models, Tele neck, and the Rick bridge. The alt tunings seemed kinda crappy too. Most of the other electric models were just too loud--much louder and with more gain than my real guitars with hot pups. When I first tried my new V-Standard, it was looking like more of the same (except usable mags). So I wondered, how do I get away from my presets with too much gain and into presets that work for my Variax? In an epiphany of sorts, I started trying out all those presets in my HD500 that sucked, and guess what? NO MO SUCKY! They're amazing, for the most part. Also, to my surprise, they all have variax settings already. So all I had to do was plug my dream rig in, using an ethernet cable and the digital L-6 Link, and now folks, I hardly have to tweak, I can just play my heart out! Turns out those patches were very well crafted using Variaxes of some kind, and so far about 2/3 are keepers! Has anyone else noticed this as well, or am I the first to stumble on this total treasure chest? The magnetic pickups are pretty sweet too! But the other thing I'm really thrilling over is the neck on the Variax Standard. I was afraid that something this flat, this thin, and with medium frets might not work for my aging knuckles, but I gotta tell you that even with 10's at concert pitch this thing is a joy for my hand! It's the most comfortable neck I've felt since the Japanese Variax 700 I've been wishing I'd have bought--and that's saying a lot. I do have questions: Is the light on the alt tuning knob supposed to be only momentary (unless you go to the "model" position)? I wish the thing would stay lit in mag mode so I could dial up the tuning I want without activating all those other tunings in between. Does anybody know how hard it would be to change pick guards? I'm thinking white would look very sweet with my sunburst brown... THANKS!!! Mike

Hello, i´m really excited from this AMP but there is still something to improve *imho - Why is it not possible to get tones from the cloud with the PC-Remote-App?? - Recording over USB with dry and wet Signal? - Dry and Wet Signal for the Direct Outs? - PODfarm-Tones not compatible with Spider-Tones. Why? - a record mode for the FBV2 to start/stop/record the Loop with the Pedal I hope there are some Ideas for the next update :)

Is there a way to sort the tones? For example, I'd like to sort tones by Star Rating so I can try all the 5 star tones. Or, sort by date created, to see whats new.

I've got a Line 6 Spider V 240HC with the matching 412 cab, and an FBV Express MKII foot controller. Im trying to figure out how to save certain amps to certain Letter Pedals. Like save cowboys from hell to a (or whichever) and save something clean, like acoustic rhythm, to another letter pedal, like b (or whichever) to where when im playing a show, i dont have to go back to my amp and switch from heavy to clean, especially when its quick changes in songs that cant be dragged out. Help is very much appreciated.

Hi everybody....To keep the forum less cluttered, I will be posting all of my 'Artist' and 'General Multi-Purpose' preset announcements and demos in this thread. It will make it easier for anyone that is following this thread to keep updated. Thanks, Moke

Hi, I just bought a Spider V 60, and really like it. I was disappointed to find the PC Remote app doesn't have any of the tone sharing features the iPad app has though. Is this something that's in development, or does Line 6 perhaps have some kind of exclusivity deal with Apple? I'm perplexed as to why it's available in one, but not the other. I'd much rather use my desktop mouse with one hand over picking up an iPad and swiping around with both hands.

Hi guys and gals! I have a Pod hd500x and I'm looking to lighten up my live gear. Before I was using an engl powerball and engl 4x12 and had the pod as effects, but the music that we play requires me to switch a bunch and with channel selecting on the amp and effect switching on the pod it got really crazy sometimes. So now I'm using the pod as pretty much my main tone (amp sim, cab sim, effects, etc.). I've since gotten rid of the engl as it was redundant to have the head, and the cab is a pain to lug around. So my question is does anyone have some recommendations for cabinets? If possible I wanna have a 2x12 with some power. Thanks!

I need help with the following: - The ‘my tones’ section of the remote app is duplicating tones every time it thinks it can’t connect to the cloud. Very annoying. Any way to stop that ? - There doesn’t seem to be a way to collect tones into a playlist. ‘My tones’ is everything you want to upload to your cloud, favorites only work for matched music and there are only 12 empty slots for user tones on the device. - Likewise for snapshots, they don’t seem to be supported, so if you want on a song to jump 1 set of fx config to another (say several on/offs and parameter changes in one go) you either ‘riverdance’ over the pedals or copy an identical tone with the diff settings. Thanks, Fabio
