  1. Hi everyone, I just bought a Firehawk, and so far I am pretty pleased with it. I have a couple of questions: (thanks in advance) 1) I want to connect my ipad to the usb port in the back of the firehawk, but I don't know what type of usb port that is so I can buy it on line. It has this "funny" type shape. 2) I am plugging the output to an amp, does it matter what type of guitar cable I use (balance, unbalanced, etc) Same with the cable going to my student montiors (I am using a three prong cable for that.. not sure what the of the cable is...I am knew to all this) Thank you, Lguitarjsm
  2. Hi All, Just upgraded my firmware to 2.70 from 2.54 and now my USB audio is very distorted. Helix sounds are fine but any audio coming back from the mac via either the system or my DAW are now very distorted. I installed the latest drivers and read the notes about allowing them through Mac OS X's security features in 10.13 and onward however I never got the prompt for this and it doesn't show up in the privacy settings either. Tried the usual restarting of everything with no luck, anyone else experiencing any problems using the helix as an audio interface?
  3. Just spent a few frustrating days trying to get Line 6 usb drivers for Helix and Variax to load successfully. Admittedly I hadn't connected either to my PC for a while, so a lot could have changed in that time. To cut a long story short, the resolution for me has been to turn off Memory integrity in Core isolation in the Windows Defender Security Centre. Neither my audio interface nor phone had problems, so in my limited sample set only the Line 6 drivers were struggling. Is this a known phenomenon? Should the drivers load with Memory integrity enabled? In both cases the drivers are the current versions (1.91.0.0 and 1.0.7.2 for Helix and Variax respectively). I tried earlier Helix drivers but they had the same problem. My OS is Windows 10 Home, Version 1803.
  4. Can I connect a Spider V 60 to a PA system through the USB output using a USB DI such as those made by Peavey or On-Stage? https://www.amazon.com/Peavey-3001370-USB-Audio-Interface/dp/B004A4PSEU https://on-stage.com/products/view/13311 Guitar > Spider V 60 > USB DI > mixer > PA Thanks.
  5. Hello everyone, I need send a USB MIDI tempo from iPad to Helix. How I configure a Helix to receiving the MIDI parameters? I searching about for this here, but I don't find it. Tks
  6. Hello, I cannot seem to get the dry tracking option working in ProTools with my Helix. I've tried reading the Helix manual, looking through Helix posts, ProTools posts and any videos I can find but nothing so far. Here is what I have set up: In Helix I have: USB connected to Windows 10 PC in Global Settings I have USB In 1/2 set to Multi In the patch I have output set to Multi In ProTools I have: Playback Engine set to Helix I/O is reset to default with the Helix settings that populate automatically Tried mono track set to input 7 as well as input 8 and get no audio Tried stereo track set to input 7/8 and have no audio In Windows I have: Audio device to recording and playback set to Helix If I select input 1 I can record the processed track fine...no issues, but I cannot get the dry track to record. This is my first time trying this as I have always recorded the XLR out of Helix into my Focusrite interface. I wanted to try recording a dry track so I can use Helix Native to process the sound. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
  7. Just set up my old Pod XT Live on new(ish) Win10 x64 machine. All drivers are now installed and up to date (according to the latest version of Monkey). Everything seems to work fine except there is quite a delay between hitting a string on my guitar and hearing the output via my soundcard. I could just monitor using headphones into the Pod, but it would be nice not to have to if there is any way to fix this issue. Is it just because I'm basically using two sound devices and the signal is being routed from the Pod through my soundcard, or is there something I can tweak somewhere that might fix it? Cheers for any help.
  8. Hi all I have a problem with my POD HD. The USB is not working properly. My POD connect to the PC only if I start (or restart) the latter whit my POD on. If I connect the POD after computer is switched on POD edit show the message "POD not Connected" and the POD is not in the list of the PC's Playback Device. So if I restart the computer all works. Does anyway have this problem? I have also noticed that the USB connection on the POD is quite loose. Thanks in advance Carmine
  9. I purchased a Relay G10 about 45 days ago and have had nothing but problems. My first gig the day of purchase went fairly well, only one dropout about 35 feet from the receiver all night. The following week I plugged it in at a venue and the receiver was completely dead. No LEDs. I was forced to revert back to wire. I got home and plugged it in and it worked. I thought maybe I had a bad electrical outlet. The following week at another venue I again had the same issue. Completely dead. I tried several different outlets to no avail. Reverted back to wire. Tried it at home again later, worked fine. Next gig the unit powered up however I had to stand directly next to the receiver. Any further than 7 feet away I lost signal. Uplugged it and reverted back to wire. So this goes on for weeks. Sometimes it works great but more often it doesn't. I try it again at home and this time it doesn't work. I check the outlet and the cables and to my shock I find the USB cable can be plugged in backwards! And of course it doesn't work plugged in backwards. I test it with another cable and find it can be plugged in and seated completely backwards as well. Looking at the receptacle in the power supply I found a non-standard pin type connector rather than a USB connector. Its a very disappointing design and does not meet the keyed criteria of the USB specifications. So Friday I took it to an important gig now conscious of the connector polarity issue, plugged it in and it is dead. No lights. I swap the polarity and nothing. Dead. I look at the receptacle connections and find the first two pins are bent completely sideways flattened against the bottom of the connector. I revert back to wire. So yesterday I Googled this problem and discovered that this has been a major issue with the product since 2016. Why do you sell stuff that has known problems that can be easily re-engineered? And why would a person who discovered that you sell stuff that is known to have problems (that you don't fix) continue to by Line 6 products? And since its been more than 30 days how do I get my money back for this thing?
  10. For the Helix Floor, is there a way to control the volume of the USB 1/2 out with the EXP Pedal? I can control the volume with the volume knob but for stage performance, I would like to use the EXP pedal. I am connecting the Helix via USB to my laptop or iPad to play tracks. Thanks!
  11. A couple of weeks ago the USB quit in my HD 500. Now the unit is in a boot loop and when I run the diagnostics the SDRAM test never finishes. Is there a document that tells how to use the diagnostic mode? Monkey can't see it to re-flash. There are no service center within 300 miles of here. Is there a document that tells which chips are the SDRAM? Is there a document that tells how to use JTAG To diagnose this? or am I stuck and now just need a new unit? Since I am a loyal Line 6 Customer (POD 2.0 , SPIDER VALVE I and II, POD HD and HD 500, JT Variax) maybe they can cut me a deal on a helix? Does anyone know what the reliability of the helix unit is like?
  12. Does anyone have any information concerning using and/or assigning USB audio I/O channels 3, 4, 5, and 6 in the Helix? I am trying to configure a wet/dry/wet DAW recording path using USB 1/2 as the stereo wet output and one of the above USB audio channels as the "dry" output. I want the dry output to contain everything from the guitar through the amp, therefor; I do not want to use USB audio channel 7 or 8, as they contain only the raw guitar audio. Sending wet/dry/wet out through the connectors is no problem. I would just plug into my mixer, but unfortunately, it has only 2-in/2-out USB audio. I see all of the Helix USB audio channels in my DAW, but cannot figure out how to, for example, assign a Helix effects loop out to a USB audio channel. Are there any other alternatives? I have attached an MS Word file of everything I have been able to find on the USB audio and MIDI I/O concerning the Helix, if it should help anyone. Please let me know if there is anything I should add or correct. Thanks, everyone! HELIX USB and MIDI Matrix.docx
  13. I made a good faith effort to look for this on the site before starting this topic. If I missed it, I apologize. I'm trying to do something pretty simple: take video with ihpone, with the audio coming from Helix via the USB port, connected through an iphone camera connector adaptor. I thought I had this working a couple weeks ago. But now, there's no audio coming through when I try to record video. I was wondering if maybe there's a hidden volume function or virtual port that got turned off in the iphone.... Thanks for any suggestions!
  14. Imagine if Line6 made an iPad/iPhone looper app along the lines of GroupTheLoop or Quantiloop (but better) that had the added USP of being able to communicate two-way with the HELIX - so that by going into a special "Looper App Mode" the HELIX scribble strips behaved like an improved version of the built-in looper- but in a way where the labels would synchronise ( using OSC etc ? ) with the iOS app. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/902705
  15. hello, I'm pretty new to MIDI, but since I recently bought a KORG Volca Keys unit, I was wondering if I could use my Toneport KB37 as the MIDI controller for this device without first going through a computer? I'm asking because in all the forums and manuals it always mentions going through a computer, and of course the kb37 does not have the MIDI DIN connector. if I get a USB-MIDI converter cable (or SPDIF-MIDI??), can I just plug the kb37 into the Volca and have it work? what kind of cable do I need, in case it needs a special cable? and, you know: just all the other silly noob questions about (this) midi setup that you can think of... ;) thanks, Eric. PS: this is a video of the KORG Volca Keys with a midi keyboard setup, I'm looking for something similar, but with the KB37 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVTm0mT53fU
  16. I bought an HD 500 used and it worked fine for a few weeks. I installed the Line 6 POD HD500 edit software and it worked perfectly - I downloaded some patches and all was great - for a couple weeks. Then the looper seized. After a discussion with a reseller they suggested I do a factory reset. Hold the left arrow on the manual input button and then plug in the power. The factory reset worked fine. However, the manual screen (the save and view buttons were a little damaged but working) began to flicker and cycle through views. Needless to say I cannot modify anything with those buttons. Then with ideal bad luck, the USB port broke. I replaced that with the assistance of someone who knows how to do it but, the unit is not detected by the software. So, neither the manual edit functions nor the USB (and thus laptop editor functions) work and I am stuck with whatever effects come with the factory resetted unit and poor visibility on the display. I was wondering if I can connect through a laptop USB to the midi inputs to download patches etc. Anyone know if this will work or, if there is another thing to try? Is it possible to purchase the manual edit unit (the save/view button to the left and the screen). Or are these parts not available? Thanks all.
  17. I have a couple of issues I need help with. First of all, my usb recording doesn't really work. Most of the time there is no sound coming through the device (in windows) when I'm playing. Audacity is either giving me error: "Error opening sound device. Try changing the audio host, recording device and the project sample rate." or simply recording silence. Initially when trying out the recording it worked normally and I've managed to record a couple of "tracks" but no I can't get it to work at all any more. I'm using Windows 10 and "USB In 1/2 Destination" in global settings is set to "Multi". Other way it's working flawless and I'm using it often as an interface to play guitar while watching youtube, listening to PC audio through helix. Second issue I'm experiencing is that return inputs simply don't work at all. I tried plugging in a pedal and it's receiving sound from send but nothing comes back. I even tried setting preset input to come from Return and plugging guitar straight into it, no sound. E: Suddenly after a few restarts, the return inputs started working.
  18. To cut a long, frustrating story short: I got to the bottom of this issue of the Helix "not being connected". I tried a mixture of my PC and several laptops. But on my PC I kept getting either no connection or a brief connection that dropped out. After much lost time, I suddenly recalled the instructions about not using a USB hub. On my PC there were USB connectors on the front of it and several on the back of the PC on the main card. As soon as I plugged into any USB connector on the back, everything worked perfectly, every time. So I reckon the USB connectors on the front of the PC were essentially configured as an extension USB "hub". I just wanted to post this, so that if it saves anyone the frustration and wasted time that I went though (eliminating operating systems and all sorts of other stuff) then great.

    Windows Driver Removal

How to uninstall drivers from your Windows 7, 8, or 10 machine Note: You must have administrator privileges to uninstall a device or driver package by using Device Manager. To uninstall all drivers for Line 6 gear by using Device Manager, follow these steps: 1. Open Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager. 2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall. 3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device" and then click OK 4. When the uninstall process is complete, unplug the devices USB connection. 5. Without closing the Device Manager screen plug your USB device back in and wait to see if Windows assigns an older driver to the device. You will know if Windows finds another driver to assign if Device Manager recognizes the device If it assigns another driver, please repeat the steps. 6. You will know if another driver doesn't get assigned when Device Manager recognizes the Line 6 gear as 'Unknown Device'. 7. Once you've removed all the drivers and Windows does not recognize the device, unplug the unit once and re install the latest Line 6 driver from the website. http://line6.com/software/ 8. Plug it back in and wait for Windows to assign the newly installed driver.
  20. I'm having trouble recording using the Firehawk...I've tried both using the direct connection through USB and using the balanced outputs to a recording interface. I'm using Windows 10 with Ableton software. Ableton recognizes the Firehawk and can configure either as an MME/Direct input or ASIO. The problem I have is that the signal coming out from the Firehawk is WAY too loud. It comes in pretty much clipping even when I'm not playing loudly or when the master volume is low. I use a looper so as I add layers it starts to clip and distort and it just sounds awful. What comes out of the speakers sounds great, so it's nothing to do with the processing on the front end...I just can't figure out how to turn down the signal on the USB or direct outs. I should mention that when I run the direct outs, I have tried turning down the output volume on the interface, so the "volume" coming into Ableton is lower but the actual signal is still clipped. Similarly, I can turn down the individual track volume within Ableton but it doesn't make a difference...it's the original signal that is messed up.
  21. Hallo, I purchased an FBV3 pedal to control my Amplify. It works great and the midi controll software is easy to use too. Since Amplify has no looper and there is no easy way to integrate a classic external looper, I thought maybe I can connect both, Amplify AND computer and use a software looper controlled by FBV pedal. Can I switch FBV3 back to control Amplify mode while the USB cable is attached? Thank for any advice and/or oppinionon the topic. Yours recoder

  23. I have followed the directions in the Helix manual as well as searched the forum and googled, but I cannot get music playing via YouTube or other player on my computer to play through the Helix. The manual says I can play along with YouTube or other player, but I cannot get it to work. I have USB hooked up and can see that there is audio playing via the Helix speaker in Windows (10) audio control panel, but I cannot hear it through my speakers that are connected via XLR output from the Helix. Both the input and output of the Helix are set to Multi, per instructions. Anyone know of a solution?
  24. Hi guys! I've recently bought a new computer, dell inspiron 7577 (ssd, i7, 16gb, win10 64-bit), mainly for improving performance and efficiency when it comes to home recording. After I plugged in my Pod Studio GX some very irritating problems started (I'm using Pod Farm 2.59). The sound that went from the headphones was crackling, popping, cutting out for 0,2 - 0,5s. The crackling sounds are more frequent when I'm playing along youtube to some songs. I've started researching and it seems that a lot of people are dealing with similar problems. I've tried all possible solutions that I found here and on other forums: different usb ports, changing the power management, opening pod farm in compatibility mode, reinstalling drivers, opening pod farm with GPU enabled etc... The problems and interruptions became less frequent when I changed the Buffer Size in ToneDirect&USB Audio Streaming to higher medium, Default buffer size to 1024 and default bit depth to 32 bit. There are no crackling sounds or interruptions when I'm playing something on youtube without the guitar plugged in and playing. Here are my questions: 1. What may be the possible reasons for this kind of problems? I've thought that having a laptop with decent CPU, ram and ssd will prevent problems regarding the buffer size, let alone the need for increasing it etc. The problem is extremely frustrating because POD Farm was working good on low buffers with no problems on my old laptop (win7, i3, 4gb, hdd). 2. What may be some other possible solutions to this problem, maybe some of you encountered similar problems on the dell inspiron 7577? Interesting thing is that before dell i was testing a lenovo legion y520 and everything from pod farm to pod studio gx was working fine. 3. Is it a problem that may appear on other audio interfaces? For example if I buy a Focusrite Scarlett Solo will the problems be similar? Or is it just the line6 productsand it's lack of compatibility with win10? I would sincerely appreciate any help or response regarding my questions, Have a nice day!
  25. Good Afternoon, I have two Line 6 xt live units where both have been loaded with my saved banks using Line 6 edit. If I run a USB cable from my laptop to the USB input on the xt live on one of the units, it will play sounds from my laptop through the xt live and out to amp. But, on the other xt live, it will not. The sound just plays through the speakers on the laptop. Has anyone encountered this before and have a solution? Thanks in advance, Pete-
