  1. Hey guys! I'm running an X3 Live pedalboard when I'm playing live. I've done a little bit research already, but am a little confused. I'm trying setup changing my patches via MIDI from Ableton or Logic, preferably Ableton in a live situation. I've brought a USB MIDI cable (attached a picture), but not sure if I'm doing it wrong or even if I have the right sort of cable. Any help or tips would be really appreciated! Thanks
  2. Look that pretty FBV 3... easily the most appealing MIDI foot controller out there. But they have again missed the opportunity to have the best MIDI foot controller by omitting MIDI DIN connections. You still can get a MIDI-USB to MIDI-DIN converter as the Kenton MIDI USB Host MKII but... at 125€. A very expensive price for a device that only does one thing. But .. what would have been the supplement in the price of the FBV3 if already included MIDI DIN In/Out? Probably just a few dollars. At least they are considering adding the possibility of changing the color of the LEDs, based on the proposal I made in ideascale. But it bothers me a lot to have to spend 125 € extra on a fcking USB converter due to a bad design decision, which in addition they have already committed many times, again and again, with all those prior FBVs. All this could also be applied to the Helix controller, of course. Here the case is even more blatant, because it can not even be used as a USB MIDI controller. Guys, have you seen the sad panorama regarding MIDI foot controllers? Old models such as the Boss FC-300 or the Yamaha MFC10, expensive and limited. Or other very expensive artifacts offered by esoteric brands... When you have the one (or two) that could be the best MIDI foot controler in the market, only if you add MIDI DIN inputs and outputs. You also missed the IOS connectivity by ommiting a direct standard 9V AC connector. (as the ipad cannot feed enough juice to the FBV3 thru USB) Why, Line 6, WHY? What strange reasoning has led you to omit such things?
  3. I am wondering if the Helix will route through MIDI commands from its hardware MIDI connectors over USB to an iPad? I already have the Helix hooked up to an iPad Mini 2 via USB (and the camera connection adapter), and using MIDI from Helix to control the iPad works great. However, I would like more footswitches. I would like to hook up an additional MIDI foot controller to the Helix's MIDI ports, and have those commands passed through the Helix over USB to the iPad to control various apps. Is this possible? Trying to see if this will work before I shell out the cash for a controller. Thanks!
  4. Hi, I had a problem many people complain about and few get answered. My Pocket POD worked perfectly on my desktop, but on the laptop it did not. Every time I connected the USB to any laptop port the POD worked for a few seconds to a minute, then suddenly shutdown and rebooted. I tweaked USB power settings, I changed out multiple USB cables. I moved to different ports. Sometimes everything seemed to be resolved only to have it do a sudden reboot once again. By chance while googling various phrases to find a solution I randomly discovered that a wireless mouse may be interfering with MIDI. I changed my wireless mouse to a wired mouse and the problem was solved.
  5. Hi everyone.I am using a A&H firewire mixer and I wish to be able to control my helix seperately from other media in my PC. 0) When i switch the helix on everything that I play on my pc(backing tracks/you/tube etc etc) comes back through my channel on mixer assigned for helix.I totally understand the logic that the helix is acting as a soundcard etc. I have playback for all other stuff on PC(Sonar included)coming through and back through different channels. My question is can I just have the helix coming through 2 channels and not taking over the pc sounds also? Many Thanks
  6. Hey, I connected Helix via USB+camera connection kit to my ipad and the Quantiloop (ver 2) looper app. When doing that, the buffer size parameter on quantiloop is stuck at buffer size 128 (not a problem to change to 256, 512, 1024 while not connected to helix). When I record a track in quantiloop like this, I can send the midi commands from helix to the app on the ipad without any problems, but I get the recorded sound back with clicks/pops... and I think it has to do with the buffer size... This is annoying, but except for that quantiloop looks like a cool app! (BTW - no problem when using Loopy HD in a similar way...)
  7. Hello guys, Please advise: I've ordered Amplifi TT and it should be arriving soon. Now I'm wondering what else I might need: The first question is: will it work as audio interface to output audio to speakers when connected to MacBook via usb? And the second question is: I'm about to buy M-Audio BX8 D2 speakers that as far as I understand have balanced xlr and abalancned/unbalanced 1/4" inputs. So what are my best options to connect these speakers to Amplifi tt? Amplifi manual does not state if 1/4 inch main outs are balanced. I would presume they are, but just to be sure what cables to buy. Thank you for your help.
  8. I'm using the Multi-output to USB and I notice that my dry signal is always coming through on the right channel. Even when my volume pedal is at 0% and my XLR outs are quiet, the dry signal still comes in over USB. Has anyone else observed this on their Macs? I've tried both custom and factory patches, and they both have this issue.
  9. Hi, I'm new to this Pod game but I'm still having problems with USB timeouts when HD500x Edit is synchronising patches. It can fail at any % along the way. I've tried it on two PCs and with a cable in or out of the jacks in case it's an earthing issue. Am I missing something? Thanks Craig
  10. Currently I have PodHd500X, Steinberg UR22 (audio interface) and Garageband. For recording, should I directly use the USB from POD into the computer? Or should I plug the output of the Pod to the input of UR22? Which method will give me better recording quality? If I use the UR22, is it better to use the balanced (XLR) output of the Pod or the unbalanced output? I tried messing around with both the methods but can't seem to distinguish much in quality. Your suggestion will be highly appreciated.
  11. Hi folks, Anybody know if the Variax usb interface connected to a Mac would allow Logic Pro x to receive input from the guitar? I am hoping to avoid using a mic. I also have both a firehawk and an amplifi available if one of those is required but I was kind of wanting to just use the guitar directly into the DAW. thanks!
  12. Hi All, I'm still running Helix firmware and software 2.0. That's because I don't want to go through all the fiddling I will need to do when I move to 2.10. If it ain't broke................After Xmas for that update I think - gigs and things in the way for now. I can connect the Helix to my Laptop - Mac Powerbook (OSX 10.11) - everything works fine (yes, Helix editor 2.00.1) However when I connect it to my Workstation iMac (OS Sierra) - the editor (yes 2.00.1) does not see the Helix (Helix device not connected) Now if I open GarageBand on that same iMac, I get full Audio interface from the Helix - so I can record and I hear everything through the Helix Headphones - and I assume through the XLRs if I had anything connected! So clearly my mac audio see the Helix - just not the Helix app?? Tried a few USB ports just in case.................... Any suggestions - I get by with the laptop - but it's another thing on a crowded desktop and I like the big screen!!
  13. Hello. I have a little problem with my POD HD500. I notice that the sound of the preset, when I hear it on the speakers, it sounds one way, and when I record via USB sounds a little less quality. There is a small difference. Someone has been the same? Can be resolved? I have the latest drivers installed and the last firmware. Thank you very much from already.
  14. Hello, all. Some Spider V customers have expressed that they were expecting a Mac/PC editor because the amp includes a USB port, and that the manual’s wording on item (17) in the Rear Panel Connections section adds to the confusion: MAC/PC/ANDROID USB B Port – Connect a Mac/PC or Android device (with OTG adapter) to edit tones, update, playback and record audio. Future releases of the manual will revise this wording to read: MAC/PC/ANDROID USB B Port – Connect a Mac/PC (update; playback/record audio) or Android device with OTG adapter (edit tones; update; playback/record audio). As it stands, there is no Mac/PC editor, but we are aware of the request for one. At this time, we cannot divulge if or when one will be released. We apologize for any misunderstandings. As always, you are encouraged to voice your opinion at line6.ideascale.com, where ideas are voted on and consistently reviewed by our Product Managers.
  15. Hi All, New to the forum. I have had my Amp setup for 3 years now. I bought a new (secondhand) guitar that has renewed my enthusiasm to pick up a guitar again. It seems though there are other plans afoot! I jumped online to see if there were any updates for the pedal and amp and sure enough there is! First thing I did was renew my password to login (as I forgot). Then I made sure I downloaded Line 6 sotware: Licence manager, Monkey, FBV controller & Spider Edit to my Macbook Pro. So I had everything powered off. I plugged in my Cat cable to the Amp & Pedal. I plugged in the USB between the Mac & Pedal. Turned amp on and powered laptop and logged into Monkey. Monkey found the devices and found the updates required so I downloaded those. Then right at the end of the update it came back with an error message about making sure cables are connected. (which they obviously were as everything was initially talking to each other) Then the amps display said 'Downloading'. So I thought it must have gone through. It said downloading for over an hour so I thought, these are only midi files, they ain't that big! So I tried to reinstall and then it said in the on screen software under Device Firmware, 'Unknown'. I restarted everything again but when I switched the amp back on it still came up with 'Downloading' It was at this point that I knew something had gone wrong for sure. I did a hard reset and cycled the pwr. Nothing. I searched the forums and found the factory reset. I have done that and now all the amp says is 'Ready to Install'. (which I tried but just get error messages about the firmware) If anyone knows a fix for this please please respond. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope!
  16. Hello, anyboy have any luck recording a HELIX wet and dry signal on seperate tracks similtaniously in Reaper? I'm trying to get a dry siginal recording In Reaper via USB 7-8 but for the life of me can find how to select USB 7-8 in Reaper...
  17. I've seen a lot of people mentioning to connect their ipad/iphone through the USB on their Helix to use Loopy, metronomes, etc. just curious how, and what you need, to actually set this up. Thanks in advanced!
  18. I bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 a little while back and am trying to figure out how best to use it with my rig. I'm using a Pod HD500x and could do with a bit of technical expertise. In the past I always recorded through the USB of my Pod, running a separate speaker to hear it. Since getting my 2i2, up until now I've just had the signal from my pedal running into both inputs on the 2i2 through XLR cables. This was basically just so I could run the audio from my PC and my guitar through the same set monitors. I've also noticed that when the gain on the 2i2 is just below clipping, it is significantly quieter when recorded into my DAW through the USB on the interface, than when I just record through the USB on my HD500x, does this mean my tone patches are too loud?? I've recently changed the setup so the interface and pedal are pretty much separate. I'm using the speaker to monitor the pedal again, and the interface just has a microphone plugged into one of the inputs at the moment. I was initially thinking of putting my interface between my guitar and pedal in order to record a dry track, but I wouldn't be able to use it to monitor the audio from my PC if I did that. Would it be better to use the FX loop on my pedal to record a DI track if I place it before the amp sim? And if I were to record dry tracks, could I then plug the output of the interface into the input of the Pod in order to reamp the dry signal? My main concern is how much gain from the interface the Pod could handle? Would it be 'safer' to use the FX return? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, been very uncertain about how best to approach my recording rig, so thought seeking advice before I change it around again would be wise! Thanks, Andrew
  19. Hey all!!! I use my helix to record via usb to Logic 9. Unfortunately Im getting a random popping noise while playing and recording. Why??? It happens when using a clean patch as well as OD patch. Help!! Thanks in advance!!!
  20. Hey guys, Im having trouble with my XLR microphone that is hooked up to my UX1 interface. The green light is on indicating that the computer has detected the device (and yes I downloaded the drivers from this site) but it is still not picking up sound. I have tested this mic before and the interface but it doesnt seem to be working this time. PLEASE HELP THANK YOU VERY MUCH
  21. Hi, my name is Ravyn and I am a guitarist from Ontario, Canada and am new to the Line 6 forum, this is my first post here and I am wondering if anyone has any info on this type of issue? I'd appreciate any help or info :) My old PC died a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to get a new laptop specifically for recording music. I thought it'd be a better idea seeing as they are portable, and actually this is the first laptop I've ever owned, I've always used a desktop for recording in the past. The laptop I have is a Lenovo with an i7 processor and 8GB of RAM. I've also just recently bought Cubase Artist 8 for recording and re-installed all Line 6 software and downloads for the Line 6 POD HD500x but upon recording I am having issues. Theirs always noise in the background, clicks, pops, unwanted feedback...but the worst part is that my system is always crashing. The two error codes I get are DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (L6PODHD5SE64.sys) and SYSTEM_THREAD_NOT_HANDLED (L6PODHD5SE64.sys) So I take it that the L6POD in the code has something to do with my beloved Line 6 Pod?? It's all very confusing, everything worked fine on my old Acer desktop and it didn't have half of the capabilities that my new laptop has, yet it worked fine and never crashed once like this. If anyone has any info, could you please help a newbie out? I'd appreciate it so much and thank you kindly! -Ravyn
  22. Good morning, I ask you please to help me. I have a problem with the HD300 pod usb downloading the driver on pc tells me that the device is unknown and I can not connect it to your PC. I have already reset the pod 300. by starting the installation of the drivers from the .exe at one point he tells you that you should see a screen when connect usb HD300 pod asking you to force the installation of the driver for compatibility. to me this pop up, this screen does not open, so I follow the procedure that tells me that the drivers are installed. Also at the beginning when I linked the pod HD300 in the indication of the USB port and features I could see that the manufacturer was line6 that the door was appointed instead HD300 and now unknown device. please give me a hand thanks
  23. Trying to set up my UX2 with new Surface Book, Win10. Direct USB (no dock), tried both USB jacks, loaded Monkey and all drivers updated, 1/4 cable inserted and input on Instrument in mixer settings, tried multiple cables (USB and guitar) and multiple guitars. Using headphone jack (tried multiple headphones). Uninstalled all drivers and software, reloaded with no change. I was using this on my Win7 pc 2 days ago, no issues. Tried to load on new laptop, meters not moving (hardware set to show input). I purchased the PodFarm 2.59 and it's authenticated. I'm out of ideas, please help.
  24. I cant get a USB-connection going in my DAW when I connect my amplifi tt to my computer via. USB. Thats my problem. It doesn't appear as a device in Reaper at all.. When I plug in my amplifi to my computer via. usb it tells me it fails to install unit drivers? I've had a lot of trouble updating my Amplifi to latest patch and Im not even sure it's done correctly. I tried locating amplifi drivers and updates on my PC, in the hope that I could do it manually, but nope. Line 6 dont have any software for amplifi products available for downloading I guess. Im very frustrated, please help
  25. Hello guys! I purchased a HD500X 2months ago. It was sooooooo freakin' awesome!!!!!! But, when I was about to update the firmware... Line 6 Monkey 1.72 does not have HD500X on its list. So I am not able to connect my POD to Monkey... and so I'm unable to perform updates... I've tried the HD500Xedit and it was working well. I'm able to copy paste save patches and set lists. The USB cable is good, the HD500X driver is installed and working properly. Too bad I couldn't update to the latest firmware because Line 6 Monkey is not recognizing HD500X. I've tried re-installing Monkey 1.72 then the other previous versions 1.71 -----> 1.63 but all of them does the same thing. They don't recognize HD500X. Its still not listed in the drop down list. What else can be done to sort this out? Has anyone tried to connect their HD500X thru MIDI? Will it work despite the not listed problem in Monkey? Hope to hear from you guys soon! thanks! :)
