  1. Currently I have PodHd500X, Steinberg UR22 (audio interface) and Garageband. For recording, should I directly use the USB from POD into the computer? Or should I plug the output of the Pod to the input of UR22? Which method will give me better recording quality? If I use the UR22, is it better to use the balanced (XLR) output of the Pod or the unbalanced output? I tried messing around with both the methods but can't seem to distinguish much in quality. Your suggestion will be highly appreciated.
  2. Hi folks, Anybody know if the Variax usb interface connected to a Mac would allow Logic Pro x to receive input from the guitar? I am hoping to avoid using a mic. I also have both a firehawk and an amplifi available if one of those is required but I was kind of wanting to just use the guitar directly into the DAW. thanks!
  3. Hi All, I'm still running Helix firmware and software 2.0. That's because I don't want to go through all the fiddling I will need to do when I move to 2.10. If it ain't broke................After Xmas for that update I think - gigs and things in the way for now. I can connect the Helix to my Laptop - Mac Powerbook (OSX 10.11) - everything works fine (yes, Helix editor 2.00.1) However when I connect it to my Workstation iMac (OS Sierra) - the editor (yes 2.00.1) does not see the Helix (Helix device not connected) Now if I open GarageBand on that same iMac, I get full Audio interface from the Helix - so I can record and I hear everything through the Helix Headphones - and I assume through the XLRs if I had anything connected! So clearly my mac audio see the Helix - just not the Helix app?? Tried a few USB ports just in case.................... Any suggestions - I get by with the laptop - but it's another thing on a crowded desktop and I like the big screen!!
  4. Hello. I have a little problem with my POD HD500. I notice that the sound of the preset, when I hear it on the speakers, it sounds one way, and when I record via USB sounds a little less quality. There is a small difference. Someone has been the same? Can be resolved? I have the latest drivers installed and the last firmware. Thank you very much from already.
  5. Hello, all. Some Spider V customers have expressed that they were expecting a Mac/PC editor because the amp includes a USB port, and that the manual’s wording on item (17) in the Rear Panel Connections section adds to the confusion: MAC/PC/ANDROID USB B Port – Connect a Mac/PC or Android device (with OTG adapter) to edit tones, update, playback and record audio. Future releases of the manual will revise this wording to read: MAC/PC/ANDROID USB B Port – Connect a Mac/PC (update; playback/record audio) or Android device with OTG adapter (edit tones; update; playback/record audio). As it stands, there is no Mac/PC editor, but we are aware of the request for one. At this time, we cannot divulge if or when one will be released. We apologize for any misunderstandings. As always, you are encouraged to voice your opinion at line6.ideascale.com, where ideas are voted on and consistently reviewed by our Product Managers.
  6. Hi All, New to the forum. I have had my Amp setup for 3 years now. I bought a new (secondhand) guitar that has renewed my enthusiasm to pick up a guitar again. It seems though there are other plans afoot! I jumped online to see if there were any updates for the pedal and amp and sure enough there is! First thing I did was renew my password to login (as I forgot). Then I made sure I downloaded Line 6 sotware: Licence manager, Monkey, FBV controller & Spider Edit to my Macbook Pro. So I had everything powered off. I plugged in my Cat cable to the Amp & Pedal. I plugged in the USB between the Mac & Pedal. Turned amp on and powered laptop and logged into Monkey. Monkey found the devices and found the updates required so I downloaded those. Then right at the end of the update it came back with an error message about making sure cables are connected. (which they obviously were as everything was initially talking to each other) Then the amps display said 'Downloading'. So I thought it must have gone through. It said downloading for over an hour so I thought, these are only midi files, they ain't that big! So I tried to reinstall and then it said in the on screen software under Device Firmware, 'Unknown'. I restarted everything again but when I switched the amp back on it still came up with 'Downloading' It was at this point that I knew something had gone wrong for sure. I did a hard reset and cycled the pwr. Nothing. I searched the forums and found the factory reset. I have done that and now all the amp says is 'Ready to Install'. (which I tried but just get error messages about the firmware) If anyone knows a fix for this please please respond. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope!
  7. Hello, anyboy have any luck recording a HELIX wet and dry signal on seperate tracks similtaniously in Reaper? I'm trying to get a dry siginal recording In Reaper via USB 7-8 but for the life of me can find how to select USB 7-8 in Reaper...
  8. I've seen a lot of people mentioning to connect their ipad/iphone through the USB on their Helix to use Loopy, metronomes, etc. just curious how, and what you need, to actually set this up. Thanks in advanced!
  9. I bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 a little while back and am trying to figure out how best to use it with my rig. I'm using a Pod HD500x and could do with a bit of technical expertise. In the past I always recorded through the USB of my Pod, running a separate speaker to hear it. Since getting my 2i2, up until now I've just had the signal from my pedal running into both inputs on the 2i2 through XLR cables. This was basically just so I could run the audio from my PC and my guitar through the same set monitors. I've also noticed that when the gain on the 2i2 is just below clipping, it is significantly quieter when recorded into my DAW through the USB on the interface, than when I just record through the USB on my HD500x, does this mean my tone patches are too loud?? I've recently changed the setup so the interface and pedal are pretty much separate. I'm using the speaker to monitor the pedal again, and the interface just has a microphone plugged into one of the inputs at the moment. I was initially thinking of putting my interface between my guitar and pedal in order to record a dry track, but I wouldn't be able to use it to monitor the audio from my PC if I did that. Would it be better to use the FX loop on my pedal to record a DI track if I place it before the amp sim? And if I were to record dry tracks, could I then plug the output of the interface into the input of the Pod in order to reamp the dry signal? My main concern is how much gain from the interface the Pod could handle? Would it be 'safer' to use the FX return? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, been very uncertain about how best to approach my recording rig, so thought seeking advice before I change it around again would be wise! Thanks, Andrew
  10. Hey all!!! I use my helix to record via usb to Logic 9. Unfortunately Im getting a random popping noise while playing and recording. Why??? It happens when using a clean patch as well as OD patch. Help!! Thanks in advance!!!
  11. Hey guys, Im having trouble with my XLR microphone that is hooked up to my UX1 interface. The green light is on indicating that the computer has detected the device (and yes I downloaded the drivers from this site) but it is still not picking up sound. I have tested this mic before and the interface but it doesnt seem to be working this time. PLEASE HELP THANK YOU VERY MUCH
  12. Hi, my name is Ravyn and I am a guitarist from Ontario, Canada and am new to the Line 6 forum, this is my first post here and I am wondering if anyone has any info on this type of issue? I'd appreciate any help or info :) My old PC died a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to get a new laptop specifically for recording music. I thought it'd be a better idea seeing as they are portable, and actually this is the first laptop I've ever owned, I've always used a desktop for recording in the past. The laptop I have is a Lenovo with an i7 processor and 8GB of RAM. I've also just recently bought Cubase Artist 8 for recording and re-installed all Line 6 software and downloads for the Line 6 POD HD500x but upon recording I am having issues. Theirs always noise in the background, clicks, pops, unwanted feedback...but the worst part is that my system is always crashing. The two error codes I get are DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (L6PODHD5SE64.sys) and SYSTEM_THREAD_NOT_HANDLED (L6PODHD5SE64.sys) So I take it that the L6POD in the code has something to do with my beloved Line 6 Pod?? It's all very confusing, everything worked fine on my old Acer desktop and it didn't have half of the capabilities that my new laptop has, yet it worked fine and never crashed once like this. If anyone has any info, could you please help a newbie out? I'd appreciate it so much and thank you kindly! -Ravyn
  13. I'm wanting to connect my Line 6 KB37 toneport to my iPad Air 2 so I can use the midi keyboard to control the keyboard sounds in garage band & use the line inputs. Has anyone got any help / experience / advice? I think I'm going to need to Apple camera connecting kit but not sure if this will do what I want it to. Help please!
  14. Good morning, I ask you please to help me. I have a problem with the HD300 pod usb downloading the driver on pc tells me that the device is unknown and I can not connect it to your PC. I have already reset the pod 300. by starting the installation of the drivers from the .exe at one point he tells you that you should see a screen when connect usb HD300 pod asking you to force the installation of the driver for compatibility. to me this pop up, this screen does not open, so I follow the procedure that tells me that the drivers are installed. Also at the beginning when I linked the pod HD300 in the indication of the USB port and features I could see that the manufacturer was line6 that the door was appointed instead HD300 and now unknown device. please give me a hand thanks
  15. Trying to set up my UX2 with new Surface Book, Win10. Direct USB (no dock), tried both USB jacks, loaded Monkey and all drivers updated, 1/4 cable inserted and input on Instrument in mixer settings, tried multiple cables (USB and guitar) and multiple guitars. Using headphone jack (tried multiple headphones). Uninstalled all drivers and software, reloaded with no change. I was using this on my Win7 pc 2 days ago, no issues. Tried to load on new laptop, meters not moving (hardware set to show input). I purchased the PodFarm 2.59 and it's authenticated. I'm out of ideas, please help.
  16. I cant get a USB-connection going in my DAW when I connect my amplifi tt to my computer via. USB. Thats my problem. It doesn't appear as a device in Reaper at all.. When I plug in my amplifi to my computer via. usb it tells me it fails to install unit drivers? I've had a lot of trouble updating my Amplifi to latest patch and Im not even sure it's done correctly. I tried locating amplifi drivers and updates on my PC, in the hope that I could do it manually, but nope. Line 6 dont have any software for amplifi products available for downloading I guess. Im very frustrated, please help
  17. Hello guys! I purchased a HD500X 2months ago. It was sooooooo freakin' awesome!!!!!! But, when I was about to update the firmware... Line 6 Monkey 1.72 does not have HD500X on its list. So I am not able to connect my POD to Monkey... and so I'm unable to perform updates... I've tried the HD500Xedit and it was working well. I'm able to copy paste save patches and set lists. The USB cable is good, the HD500X driver is installed and working properly. Too bad I couldn't update to the latest firmware because Line 6 Monkey is not recognizing HD500X. I've tried re-installing Monkey 1.72 then the other previous versions 1.71 -----> 1.63 but all of them does the same thing. They don't recognize HD500X. Its still not listed in the drop down list. What else can be done to sort this out? Has anyone tried to connect their HD500X thru MIDI? Will it work despite the not listed problem in Monkey? Hope to hear from you guys soon! thanks! :)
  18. I just bought a used Line 6 POD 2.0 for my brother-in-law because he liked the convenience I have at home of just plugging my guitar into my POD and having the sound come out of my computer for learning songs from the internet or on mp3 file. My home setup is to use a regular guitar cable from the Left output of my POD 2.0, convert it into a stereo 3.5mm mini jack before my computer and plug the stereo mini plug into my computer's 3.5mm line-in jack. I have the direct/A.I.R switch on the POD set to direct mode. I use the Realtek audio card built into my motherboard and I have the line-in enabled in my computer sound settings. I'm running WIN7 and I use Audacity for any recording but mostly I use it just to have the ability to play and modify my guitar sound while it's coming out of my computer speakers. The problem is it turns out my brother's computer is a DELL All-in-one computer with WIN10, DOES NOT have a physical line in jack and only has 4 USB inputs, one speaker-out jack (in which he has installed a couple of Bose speakers) and one mini-headphone jack. "No problem" I thought - we'll convert the POD 2.0 1/4" out to a USB. I got him to purchase an Alesis Guitarlink cable that converts the regular guitar cable 1/4" to USB for supposedly plugging guitar directly into computer USB. The cable has a red LED on the USB end that lights up when it makes connection. The cable lit up as it was supposed to but nothing comes out the speakers. A look at his computer sound settings shows under the recording tab his realtek audio card and two other recording devices, "stereo mix" and the USB port. No matter which one I select as default - I can get all of them to show strong incoming signal when the guitar is strummed (bars go to max) but none of them output sound to the speakers. There is no 'line-in' listed in the recording devices tab as my own computer has. The 'properties' of each of the recording devices listed show volume level turned up and the 'listen' box checked. Very frustrating! I tried setting his POD direct/A.I.R switch to both settings and it made no difference. Music files play fine on his computer. Any ideas?
  19. I'm trying to find a way to extend my practice time by connecting my JTV ( or strat ) to a laptop and leaving the HD500x for final pre-gig setup and practice. Although I upgraded to a much better VDI cable I suppose I could use the original one to get a JTV - USB - laptop connection, but not sure how that would work with software like Guitar Rig. Or I could get something like the guitar link. Ideally I'd have something better than a bare guitar signal ( a few effects ) which could mix with a slowed down mp3 or youtube video for practice out through headphones. Behringer Guitar Link https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/guitar/guitar-rig-5-player/
  20. I am having an issue with the USB recording.. it will be working for a while then a small noise, and then the guitar is delayed by a full second (ironically the bluetooth audio from my iPhone is not interrupted at all).. just the guitar suddenly is delayed horribly...
  21. Hey there Please can anybody help me? I was always using my POD HD 500 normally with USB and Reaper and everything, but today I'm having this issue: when POD is not plugged in the PC I can hear my guitar normally through Unbalanced Output and headphones, but when I plug it into my PC, sounds goes off in those outputs. I can hear PC's sounds normally, and Reaper is getting signal from it, but very distorted. If I unplug the USB, the sound comes back (despite my PC gets a blue screen, but I've had this issue before when unplugging the USB, and no problems with sound). My PC is a Sony Vaio VGN-FW460J with Windows 10, not sure if it's a problem with it tho. I'm hoping this is not a big issue, I'm depending a lot of my POD for these days!! Any help is welcome, thanks!
  22. Hello and thank you in advance for your help. :) I currently have my POD HD500X connected to my firewire digital interface via SP/DIF, and everything is sounding amazing. I can record to my DAW and everything sounds exactly same as headphones direct from the Pod. What I am Trying to do: I would life to record via SP/DIF, but also use my computer to edit my tones via USB. Problem: when I plug in the USB cable from my computer to the POD HD, the audio from the sp/dif shutoff, when I unplug the USB cable the audio starts working again. I am not sure if this is normal or not. I have have read both that it should work, and should not work. Is this actually possible? Is there a setting in the computer or POD HD that I should be looking at? Thanks You, Matt B.
  23. So i got the Pod HD Pro X today, but I cant get a sound out of it. My headphones are plugged into the Phones input at the front, the guitar in the guitar input of course. As input mode i selected guitar and as output Studio/Direct. The Pod HD is connect to my PC via USB. I have installed all drivers/software and the monkey does not show any new updates available. I can change the effects in Pod HD Pro x Edit and the pod hd is also reacting but i still have no sound (when playing music and stuff) and no guitar sound... I used the Line 6 UX2 before and I just had to plug in the guitar, the headphones and the USB and I had sound when watching youtube videos and stuff and guitar sound when I opened Pod Farm... Help me please! Greetings :) Edit: i dont know what I did, but i hear the sound the PC makes now, but still no guitar sound, although the signal is shown in Reaper and the Tuner is also working
  24. Hi, I've got myself a HD500X recently. I want to record music via USB. I had bit of an issues with signal level at the beginning but I've sorterd it out. Think that bugs is the playback level. When I record a track and I would like to decrease its volume before I will come up with another one - so I can hear what am I doing (especially when more of them is present into multitrack. Is there a global knob or setting of the playback level from recording sofware? Thanks for help!
  25. Greetings fellow forum-ites Recently bought a condenser mic to use with my Helix. Plug it in and turn on phantom power then start to bring up the mic gain and all is good..... ...plug in the USB cable and all of a sudden there is horrendous noise. This noise translates to recordings also. Moving the mouse around modulates the noise. This does not happen when using Variax or Guitar. I'm not really sure I understand why the USB input/output is involved in the gain and input for the microphone. As I said without the USB cable inserted there is no noise and everything is good. Anyone else experiencing this?
