  1. I have a new PD HD500X which am trying to connect to Edit software to download custom tones. I have successfully installed Line 6 Monkey and the USB connection is fine. Monkey recognizes the POD HD500X with no problem. All Drivers, Firmware, Flash, etc. is up to date. However, when I run Line 6 Edit, it will not recognize the POD HD500X, and immediately opens a midi connection screen as if I were trying to connect via MIDI cables which I am not. I have tried uninstalling drivers, the firmware, and the Edit software to no avail. Please help!
  2. Hello everyone! I've been using my POD UX1 together with POD Farm 2 for several months. I've been using it both as a recording tool and as a soundcard. A couple of months ago, all of a sudden (while in use), it has stopped working. Almost no sound comes from the output (very weak, only when I run audio files from the pc - and to hear them, I have to turn all the way up the volume on my speakers), I can't record nor use any instrument, because no sound would come out. On the POD Farm 2 program, the "LEDs" on the mixer (input and output) randomly light, like there was sound coming out from an instrument, but obviously no instrument is played. Turning the volume from the speakers up, i noticed a weak white noise coinciding with the random lights. I tried everything. Restarting the pc. Downloading drivers and updates. Uninstalling and reinstalling. Audio set up from my pc (it says that everything works as usual). Nothing changed. Can anyone help me? :-P Thank You. P.S.: I run Windows Vista as OS (yes, I have to change my pc!).
  3. Hallo, I have recently installed the KB37 interface onto my new computer. Everything works well except but when I using the MIDI input, the notes are getting stuck (not the physical kewboard but the sound produced by the virtual instrument). The only way to get these notes unstuck is by hitting the note one the keyboard that was stuck. Also, when rapidly playing a sequence of notes (but not unrealistically so) some are not being picked up in the headphones or the DAW (reaper). I have also tried to updated the USB firmware in monkey but this fails (error code: 8007105 Firmware Verify Failed). When restarting monkey, it says that the latest USB firmware is installed (1.08) but I'm not sure if this is correct. Any assistance would be most appreciated
  4. Hi, I have been using an Shortboard mkii with Snow Leopard on my 2007 MacBook Pro to control Ableton Live for about a year. I have recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro running Mavericks. To get the Shortboard to function properly, I have to plug it in to the USB AFTER the Mac has booted THEN run Monkey. If I don't do this, Live 9 sees the Shortboard but won't receive messages from it. Weird - never had to do that on my old setup. According to Monkey, I have the latest firmware and software. The Shortboard is being plugged directly into one of the Mac's USB ports - I am also using a USB keyboard controller and a USB Korg Nano Kontrol but these never caused problems with my Shortboard on my old setup. Any one else having this issue? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Steve
  5. So I just upgraded the firmware on my HD500 to the latest version, v2.20, and noticed that when using it as USB audio, there is no more audio drop in my DAW software when I change preset on HD500! Great for my jam/live setup! Now, I don't have to use the mp3 input of HD500 (from computer internal audio interface) and just use HD500 as USB audio interface and guitar effects at the same time. Awesomeness, thanks Line6!
  6. I use my Bass Pod XT live as a guitar preamp by the DI output for my EMU 1212m, it works just fine. But I also want to use the same Bass POD XT as a MIDI controller. But as soon as I plug in the USB into the Bass POD XT, the DI output turns into model output. I know it works like that with the headphone but hre there's just no way there's a common wiring between the USB and the DI output. Any way I set the thing within the control panel, it only affects the sound for (and of) the computer, not the outputs. a.) is this normal? b.) If so, why? There's no reason why USB should affect the outputs. It doesn't turn the bass pod xt into a stereo soundcard or anything. c.) Is there any way I can get the unprocessed sound through the DI output while using the pod as a MIDI controller without unplugging the POD from the USB (so neither Bypass nor a 5-pole MIDI cable is a solution)? Thanks in advance.
  7. How to disconnect or eject the USB port of the POD HD from window or mac properly? I cannot find the usb eject option like other usb devices. So I just turn off the POD HD. But after I do that, the window xp will go to the out memory blue screen and the mac os will restart immediately. Do anybody have the same experience? How do you disconnect or eject usb port of the POD HD from window or mac?
  8. Hello, all: I am the proud owner of the "shred" version of the JTV, which I got for a great price. But I was sad to see that it is missing the workbench hardware (didn't do my research...). So I am looking to buy the workbench interface for a reasonable price. Please contact me at esiegel2@gmail.com if you have one to sell. I hope this is within the rules of the forum. best eric siegel

  10. I looked around manuals and I couldn't find anything about using a USB hub and a wifi adapter at the same time to remote with an iPad and record or playback a USB flash drive or USB hard drive. I will try this myself some time but I haven't got a iPad yet so has anyone had success doing this?
  11. Hey everyone, Im trying to use my old Pod xt live as an audio interface to record on Ableton Live 8. Ive got everything set up to where I get a signal on Ableton, but Im getting two output signals from my Pod to my monitors. One signal goes from the pod output straight to the monitors and the other one goes to Ableton through the usb cable and then back through the pod to the monitors. (So that if my Pod tone is clean and I have a distortion effect enabled on Ableton I hear both the clean and distorted tones at the same time) The only output cable I have is a 1/4" from the l/mono output on the pod to the monitors inputs and my Pod is connected to my pc via the usb cable. Is there any way to have only the signal from Ableton play through the monitors? I want to use effects from the pod as well as effects on ableton.
  12. I'm using OSX and an HD500X upgraded to the latest firmware. When using garageband with the HD500X connected via USB, the sound quality is terrible. It is distorted badly compared to plugging headphones directly into the HD500X. I've lowered the OS X input level in system utilities to make sure I'm not clipping. I'm using garageband for monitoring and master and track levels are correct. I've also made sure I'm using a "real instrument" and not adding anything to the audio. So checked all the obvious stuff. I owned an HD500 before the 500X and there was a known issue with audio via USB where it was unusable because of noise on the input. Something about a chipset conflict or incompatibility. I ended up having to use analog out from the HD500. So I'm wondering if this is the same issue with the HD500X that is still unresolved? Anyone else having this same issue or have any insights to share? Thanks, Mark.
  13. First, connect the FBV via USB to the computer and use the FBV Control software. In the File>Open menu, select the ‘Gearbox’ preset for the FBV. This will store on the FBV automatically. Close FBV Control. Then, start Gearbox with the FBV still connected to the computer. Go to the Edit>Preferences window, and in the ‘MIDI/Control’ tab, select USB Audio Device for MIDI Input. Hit Apply and then, OK. The FBV will now control certain parameters of the program including Wah/Volume sweep and toggling. If you would like to change the behavior of the switches, you should than exit Gearbox and go back to FBV Control once again to assign MIDI CC Toggle messages that correspond with what they want to control in the program. You can reference the chart for Gearbox MIDI CC messages starting on page 2.14 of the following Gearbox MIDI CC Reference Guide: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593546810e/application/pdf/MIDI%20Continuous%20Controller%20Reference%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20F%20).pdf
  14. Hi folks I am thinking about updating my X3 live but need to know how many simultaneous tracks you can record via USB with the HD500X. I heard the HD500 couldn't do wet/dry at once. I downloaded every manual on the L6 site but nothing details this at all which makes me think no. Can anyone confirm or deny? Cheers Tim
  15. Can ayone reccomend a moderately priced laptop that works with HD500? I have a Dell Latatitude with Windows 7 and an Acer with Windows 7. Neither works with the HD500 and multiple discussions and supplying info to Line 6 could not resolve the issue. I think it may have to do with the multiple USB ports. Line 6 says not to use a USB hub and as these laptops have multiple USB inputs I am thinking an internal hub could be the issue. So as I purchasing a new laptop, I'd like to avoid any issues. Any reccomendations apprecciated.
  16. Deutsch Français In order for your computer to recognize your device when you are connected via USB, you will first need to install the appropriate drivers. Here is what you will need to do to install drivers on a Windows computer: 1) Download and launch the latest version of Line 6 Monkey, which is your intelligent updater program for Line 6 gear. See the following link for more information on Line 6 Monkey: Line 6 Monkey Installation and F.A.Q. 2) Turn off all other programs and disconnect all non-essential USB and Firewire devices (printers, cameras, mp3 players, etc.) from the computer (USB mouse and keyboard can be an exception if you do not have an alternative). 3) Launch Line 6 Monkey. If your unit is not connected (or there are no previous drivers installed), Monkey will ask you to choose the Line 6 device you wish to configure. For this tutorial we will select a Line 6 Guitarport from the dropdown menu. 4) Once the Guitarport is selected in the configuration window, select "OK". 5) In the Updates tab, highlight Drivers and select "Update Selection" on the right hand side of Line 6 Monkey's user interface. 6) Monkey will connect to our server and download the appropriate drivers for your Line 6 device. 7) After the drivers are downloaded, Line 6 Monkey will exit so the Driver Install Wizard can launch. 18. Hey all, Took a while to solve this so I thought I'd post for anyone else hunting. Persistent clicking with UX2 on Win8 x64 (AMD A10 + discrete gfx, SSD & 16G). The system runs plenty fast enough, so I was surprised to be getting drop-outs & clicks in all playback apps, especially on basic activity like switching app focus. Tried adding ASIO driver to Foobar2000 & adjusting buffers, latency and bitrates in the Line6 control panel and everything with no success. Culprit in the end: the UX2 was plugged into a USB 3.0 port. Plugging in to a USB 2.0 port fixed the problem. Unsure if a particular controller was the problem (Gigabyte F2A85X-UP4 has both native AND A85X chipset and Etron EJ168 controllers). Bought a board with extra USB3 ports thinking I was doing myself a favour -- only 2 USB2 ports on the back panel -- jeez. LOL Anyway, fixed -- hope this maybe helps someone.
  19. Hello everyone! I am about to buy a DT25 combo to use with my POD HD500. I read somewhere, when you connect both devices through L6 Link, HD500 USB out goes quiet and only works as a MIDI interface (no sound signal). I used to make my recordings directly from HD500 USB out to a PC USB and directly to a DAW (Audacity, Reaper, etc...). Is there any way of continuing recording digitally, while playing HD500 connected to DT25 via L6 Link? If not, my enthusiasm on that Amp goes completely down the drain and I might call the deal off :( Anyone could give me a hint? Thank you all! Miguel
  20. Hi, I've had this problem since I upgraded to the latest firmware and drivers. When I try to record via USB to Garageband I get significant distorition. Below are the notes on the issue. Has Line6 done anything to fix this yet? I haven't seen any posts that truly have a solution to this issue besideds 'don't use USB' (which is not very helpful). It seems like a large enough issue. -The distortion does NOT occur on output to my amp or headphones. -The distortion is only on the guitar, the other mic input seems to work fine -The distorition occurs when Im running a patch (say dual tones - Acoustic / Vocal 5) or running through completely clean. -I've swapped in/out all the cables and they seem to work fine. -I've tried turning up the master and down the input on my mac and vice versa -There is no 18db checkbox on the mac, but my current input is set below that on the midi controller (it's set to 9.5 for the guitar input channel) and 18db on the vocal. -The distortion occurs with muliple types of guitars. -This occurs both in the recording and when I turn on the computer speakers as a monitor. I can't figure this out. Can someone please help me out? Thanks so much!
  21. Hello everyone. I've purchased a new JTV-89 yesterday and now that I got it at home, I'm having some issues getting things to actually play. Perhaps a small bit of backstory - I'm a newbie guitarist and have only played on a cheap classical guitar up to this point, however, getting an electric was always my goal (of course mastering said electric is my next goal ;) ). As such, I don't have a lot of audio equipement related to electric guitars. I do, however, have a pretty darn good computer (with an old, but good Audigy 2 sound card running kX audio drivers with custom DSP settings), and a nice amplifier and a pair of columns connected to that computer. As such, the JTV-89 seemed like a superb idea, because wouldn't have to buy extra equipement and could put more money into getting a good guitar rather than other set pieces for getting said guitar to play (amps, cables, whatnots). Before purchasing this JTV-89 guitar I had a chance to listen to it - it was then connected to a POD 500 and a laptop. As such, the USB interface, the battery - all those things were still sealed in their origial packages - I feel this is important information, as it suggests the guitar itself should be fine and the trouble I'm about to describe might be with one of the connecting elements, unless something had happened during transport, but the guitar was safely tucked in it's bag and the ride was smooth. Now at home I've unpacked the whole thing, charged the battery (after pluggin it into the guitar the little "battery meter" on the back of the Variax showed a full charge), and plugged everything to my computer (after installing the latest version of Workbench). However, the app said I still need to do some installations, because it couldn't detect the Variax (and suggested I run Monkey). I did so - I downloaded Monkey, installed it, and it said I have everything up to date (it DID detect the USB interface, but not the guitar itself). At this point I noticed red light on the USB Interface - flashing on the guitar side. Now, I've tried to connect things using a standard Ethernet cable (rather than the one that came with the guitar) - no luck there. Here are some other things I noticed: - The guitar port on the USB interface seems awfully loose, at least compared to similar ports on my computer or router. - The two knobs on the guitar (for changing the model and tunings) don't light up - I was under the impression that all you need to do is tap on them, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I may be a complete idiot (given that this is my first electric guitar ever, that's highly possible) and am simply doing something wrong. In fact, I'd prefer this to be the case, because then I'm sure anyone here will be able to easily point out my mistake and all will be fine with the world (if not my pride :P ). Otherwise, this might mean I've got a more serious problem on my hands, and since I'm in Poland, getting things fixed might not be easy. PS. My computer is running Windows 7 x64.
  22. Help! I just just received My Hd500 today and when i plug it into the usb i get a stupidly loud buzz through my amp
  23. About a week a go my X3 Live started picking up some weird looping cracking static sounding interference when recording. It only happens when I record enable a track in Logic or record. When playing with headphones on its fine and it doesn't happen. I have read a few posts about ground loop interference, but that is usually something to do with it being run through a laptop. I'm using a MacMini. My set up is as follows: X3 Live into a MacMini using Logic Pro via USB. I've tried using different USB ports, cables. Turning of speakers, printer, even my display to try and figure out what is happening. It all seems to be down to the USB though. Any ideas? As I love my X3 and it's great for home recording, I'd like to keep using it.
  24. Hello Everybody, New Pod hd300. Works perfectly with headphone connected directly into the pod. Installed all drivers in iMac, latest udpates done. Monkey is updated. Pod300 Edit installed and recognizes the pod. When I change a knob on the pod it changes at the same time on the iMac in the pod hd300 edit software. So I guess connection is ok. I also see the pod as midi device in the midi manager So far so good. But in Garageband nothing happens. Does not seem to recognize the pod. Nevertheless in preferences the I did select the pod and when I go to the amp I also see the pod as input source. What am I doing wrong. Any suggestion. Thanks in advance Markus
