  1. Hello Friends! This is not your typical "amp fizz" "squirrels" "Ghost in the machine" thread! I suspect there are several things at play here. First, the backstory. I've been having "fizz" troubles with my Helix for months, at their worst they result in massive volume dumps during live performances thru my (Matrix GT800) live rig. BUT recently its almost like they decay over time... I wouldn't be starting this topic if not for the fact that for the last 8 hours STRAIGHT it sounded amazing. Low end was tight, everything sounded amazing. I play through my headphone exclusively but when the fizz gets bad I make sure to diagnose, record it thru the USB, track it out the 1/4" in ouputs and even the sends. BUT THEN I opted to try to restore some old Factory Presets by loading old Firmware into the Helix. Well, I jumped to 3.01 and the fizz came back and hasn't left yet. I'm on my second round loading the firmware through the Helix from 3.01 -> 3.11 Hoping it helps. Attached are 3 stock Helix presets, not affected at all beyond making the impedance 1M. THEY CAN'T POSSIBLY BE THIS BAD YOU GUYS WHATS GOING ON. Jazz Rivet - 04A.mp3 WOrks just fine - 09A.mp3 SadSad - 01D.mp3
  2. Hello, I am trying to re-amp a dry signal recorded on GarageBand with the HX Stomp. I understand that Garageband output and input must be set to HX stomp, the dry signal send to output HX Stomp via USB 5-6 and the re-amp will be recorded on HX Stomp USB channel 1-2. I set all that. I have also changed the input of the HX flow to USB 5-6 as per explained in the manual (circle before the first block on the stomp itself) Here is my issue, the sound comes from GB (I can hear the dry guitar in the headset plugged into the HX stomp - only the usb is hooked to GB) but it doesn't sound like the signal is passed to the effects chain (no parallel split in my chain). Nothing is getting back to GB and again the sound in the headset is the dry sound. I found several videos explaining the output of the dry should be set to USB 5-6 but GB doesn't let you select that (I can only select HX stomp). Is there a way to do it? Any idea what could be set improperly ? Has anyone had any luck reamping with Garageband and HX stomp ? Thanks for your help Pat.
  3. Hi, I use a (Hardware-) Helix for all my recordings and especially the way of "recording dry and processing afterwards" (with Helix Native) works fine - but only for the source Guitar-In (USB-7). I recently tried to do the same with a mic-signal and expected the unprocessed signal being available on USB-8 but I have no opportunity to select the source "USB-8" in my DAW (Cubase 10 on Mac Catalina). A deeper look in the Studio Setup of Cubase reveals, that only the Inputs 1, 2 ,7 and Outputs 1,2 are marked active, the remaining ports are shown as "Inactive" (and I cannot alter the state in "Studio Setup" of Cubase). In Global Settings of Helix "Re-amp Source" points to USB-8 and is assigned to "Mic", which imho should be correct. So, any idea how to switch the "Inactive" ports to "Active"? Thanks in advance ;-)
  4. My Helix is not recognized by my computer most of the time. I've installed the driver, and after doing a factory reset, turning it on and off, I can eventually get Line 6 Updated to see the Helix. However, when I try to install updates I'm getting errors (I have a help desk ticket in, too...but my experience with that has not been great in the past). So, now I have no presets and can't install the updates to the firmware, and can't connect at all to the Helix edit app. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Joe
  5. For best results its recommended that the Apple branded USB Camera Connection Kit is needed for a proper connection with your iOS device. Non-Apple Camera Connection kits are could be subject to improper connection. Be sure you're using the correct adapter kit, if you have trouble connecting. Stated in the Spider V 20 manual: iOS device operation requires use of Apple USB Camera Connection Kit, sold separately. iOS version 10 or greater is required.
  6. Hi! So as the title says, my POD HD 500 can't boot up. When i start it up, the only thing i see is the Line 6 logo appearing in a loop, and wouldn't load the effects chains. This is kind a complicated situation.. So i've bought this unit (used) like a year ago, and couldn't use it once. The guy whom i bought it from didn't had a power supply to it. It took me like 2 months to get one from Ebay (UK) which had the UK power plug head (so i needed a converter). I'm from Central Europe (Hungary). It was strange because once i was able to boot it up to see the menu and such, but after days past and tried it to set it up with my friend it just gave up eventually. We weren't able to boot it up, we also tried to update it with the Line 6 Monkey, but the pc just couldn't see the unit via USB. After we tried to install the drivers it gave an error. I took it to a local guitar shop, where they replace the USB port since it was broken, but they also said that the circuit board was "short circuited" , and would need to be replaced. Which would cost me around 300 Euros, that's just Ludacris! (i don't really believe them, for my own reasons, but that's not the point right now). I can get it to "Update Flash Mode" while holding the "down" button on starting up but my pc can't detect the POD HD 500. As you can see in the screenshots i can't update the Firmware memory and neither the Flash memory. Also when i try to update the driver it gives an error message ("Failed to launch installer"). After that it takes me to the Line 6 downloads site to download it, which is fine, but after i install it manually it still says that there is no driver installed. What can i do to fix this? Do you think it's a power supply or a circuit board issue? I also tried it with multiple USB cables..
  7. is it okay for HX STOMP not to use Safely Remove from PC (during open Edit)
  8. I run my Helix plugged into my pc via USB and out to a pair of monitor speakers, I run all my pc sound through the Helix and it’s easy to run Helix Edit for experimenting with patches. Recently bought a Marshall DSL1HR and MX112 cab. Thought I’d try running the Helix into the front of that but I get horrendous white noise/static. After much swapping of cables it turns out that it’s the USB cable form the Helix to the PC that’s causing the issue, but only when I have the Helix plugged into the amp, not the monitors. Tries replacing the USB cable with one with two ferrite shields, one each end to no avail. Plugged the Helix into a USB hub which reduced the level of the noise but at the same time introduced a whine/hum type sound. If I connect the Helix to the amp (still connected to the pc) with my Xvive wireless it’s fine, no noise at all. So I could just use wireless, but then I need to remember to keep it charged and switch it off when I’m done Any ideas how to solve the noise issue when using cables? Have tried the ground lift button on the back of the Helix.
  9. Hello, how are you? I would like to know what I can do, I updated HX UPDATE AND HX EDIT, but I did not disconnect my HX STOMP and now my pc does not recognize it, it is not detected by windows or mac: '( What I can do ????
  10. Hi guys, I wanna start by saying I've followed the official line 6 guide to get this to work, but I can't manage it (Guitar is set to Re-amp Src USB 7). In cakewalk I've tried selecting "Left Digital Audio Interface (Line 6 Helix LT) 7/8" as well as putting the guitar onto 8 and trying "Right Digital ... 7/8" and also using "Stereo ... 7/8" none of them are working! I've done a global settings reset on my LT and still have the same problem, it makes me think I'm doing something wrong with cakewalk, has anyone else had this problem, or knows how to fix it? Any tips/advice is much appreciated, I'll try it all to make it work. Cheers, Jack
  11. I am using the Amplifi 75 and want to record with using a usb cable from the back of the amp directly into the pc. All drivers are updated. It works smoothly, except for one big issue. If I try to record something, the recording gets some sort of crackling sounds that come sporadically. I first thought this was due to a poor connection with the cable but I've changed it out with a new one. There are no problems when outputting sounds, but only recording. Is there any fix for this?example.mp3 I've attached an example of the problem, recorded through Audacity. Listen to the sound that comes after 4 seconds and around 15 seconds.
  12. Hi all Longtime lurker, first time poster. I've had a Variax 600 for years and have finally got around to getting a USB interface for it (one of the newer ones) and cable in order to use Workbench. Now I've read many posts about this (big thank you for that!) so made sure I downloaded the standard Workbench designed for an older Windows (I run Windows 10), get the 32bit Java, Line 6 Monkey etc but it doesn't recognise the guitar when plugged in with the CAT cable. I've got 2 green lights on the interface, it seems like all the drivers are up to date but I go into Workbench and I just get the message 'no device detected' even though it can detect the USB interface? Any ideas? anything I'm doing wrong? Thanks Nick
  13. Hi there, I'm trying to record my guitar using my macbook, audacity, and of course my HX Stomp. I read that no driver is required on Mac if I'm using 48Khz sample rate, so I simply plugged the stomp into the macbook and, indeed, it is detected by the system. But so far, I have not been able to get any sound from the usb audio interface. I set the HX stomp as recording device from the Audio MIDI Setup application, but I can't set master volume nor channels volume Yet, I tried to selected the proper interface and channel (1) in Audacity and expected a miracle : But of course I have a flat line. So is there something I missed (the audio output knob on the stomp is set at max) Many thanks !
  14. Hello! Can the Helix Control be used to control Native via USB? I am looking to play through Native housed in MainStage for live performance. If not, is this likely to come in future updates? What other product can do what I'm looking for? Thanks everyone!
  15. I'm trying to record into my DAW using the USB cable however I'm experiencing pops and clicks in my studio monitors and my headphones with audio playback or live guitar playing.. I've also noticed that the signal seems to double slightly when connected via usb. I've located the issue to the USB port causing the issue. I done this by changing the USB cable with another one to see if there was any noise and there still was. can someone please help as I will have to call technical support otherwise and mybe have to send back my new line6 helix :( and i don't want to do that because all the other audio connections work fine
  16. There is no jack on the V20 for a footboard. Are there any devices or is there any option to use the Micro USB to attach any footboards? Looking to add a Wah or ability to change/ cycle through sounds.
  17. Greetings! New to the forum but not to the Helix or Line6 products. So I have a weird audio problem that's driving me insane. Here is my equipment list: Helix Floor running 3.01 iMac running Catalina 10.15.7 Logic Pro 10.6.1 M-Audio reference monitors (direct XLR to the Helix) I'm using the Helix as the audio interface and was using a Focusrite Scarlett Studio, but had the same issue with the Focusrite. The issue is there is no audio if the USB cable is connected to my iMac (unless I do a few tweaks to each patch, please read on). "Without" connecting the USB cable to my Mac. 1. If I plug headphones into my Helix, it works fine. 2. If I plug my Helix into an amp, it works fine. "With" connecting the USB cable to my Mac. 1. If I plug headphones into my Helix, I get no audio 2. If I plug my Helix into an amp, I get no audio 3. When I monitor a track in Logic via my reference monitors, internal speakers or headphones, I get no audio This is driving me mad and I finally discovered that if through HD Edit or the manual buttons on the Helix, I turn off or delete the volume pedal within an actual patch, I get audio! Also if I set the "minimum position" to anything above 0, within an actual patch, audio works fine. (see screenshots). So I checked the global settings and made sure everything was reset to default factory settings, still no audio. Reset all patches, to default factory settings, still no audio. To recap, when my Helix is plugged into my iMac, there is no audio unless I turn off or delete the volume pedal within an actual patch. I thought maybe my Mac was jacked up so I reset what can be reset on a mac, no luck. I'm suspecting this is some global setting because it affects almost every patch. There are a few patches that work without disabling the volume pedal, but I can't see any difference between those few that work and the ones that do not in their respective settings. Discovered workarounds are.. 1. Disable volume pedal manually on every patch. 2. Increase "minimum position" to anything above 0 on every patch. 3. Rinse off my Helix in the sink. What I want to happen: 1. Helix works without having to change each patch to disable or delete the volume pedal. I suppose I can do those changes manually but it would be time consuming and then it will not work when a USB cable is not connected to the Helix!? Also Yes I tried a various USB cables and USB ports. Has anyone else seen this issue or have an idea of what I'm overlooking? My guess is it's so simple I'll want to punch myself in the face when I learn the fix. Thanks in advance!
  18. If I use the amplify via USB to record on my iMac, it will be clean or will I need to create a bank without cabinet, amp and effects? Thank you
  19. I’ve used my iPhone as an audio input into the USB port of my HX stomp to play along with backing tracks and songs. Since I updated to 3.0 (now 3.01) the iPhone won’t play sound through the USB into the Stomp, but instead keeps playing through its built-in speakers. The USB on the Stomp works, I can play audio from my laptop, just not from an iPhone or iPad. Any clues as to what might be going on?
  20. Anyone else have problems receiving MIDI messages into the USB input from other MIDI over USB pedals? I'm using a DA Electronics iCtrl-R Mini and with the Helix floor, HX Stomp, and PodGO using USB connections, I get nada. All settings for Trasnmitting/receiving MIDI over USB are correct. Any hints/Thoughts? http://www.daelectronics.com/
  21. Hi folks, I'm trying to plug my TC Harmonics G-TX pedal into my HX stomp. For those who don't know this pedal, it's a pedal meant to be used with a microphone, and which enhance your voice by adding 1 or 2 additional voices at different pitches. For this purpose, I removed every FX block from the chain of my preset to have the more neutral sound (as I discovered that enabling true bypass also disables USB output !) and while the sound is OK from the headphones (which are plugged in the HX stomp), it's awful once in GarageBand (basically, the harmony voices become like a weird cher-like auto-tune effect) I tried to play with the output settings (typically I tried to set "Line" instead of "Inst" everywhere I can) but same results : it's ok in head phones, not ok in the USB output result. Although the HX Stomp is meant to be used with a guitar/bass, I assume that as an audio interface it should be able to manage anything ? Any hint ? Thanks !
  22. No more. Just no more. I f*cking tired of this. Brand New laptop with win 10= blue screen of death. I tried literally everything, Just everything. And it goes to bsod again and again. Really? When i bought it i thought it's a dream machine. Now i see, that it is a piece of garbage. Dear line 6 support, i hope when you die, and you want to go to the heaven, you ll see bsod every f*cking time, when you try to do so. And i hope your company will vanish into dust for such sh*tty customer service. I'll switch to another interface, because i want to make music, not lollipop with settings, drivers, and all sh*t! Best community, f*cked corporation.
  23. Good morning, I would like to run my iPad through my Helix to be able to play along with tracks and rehearse. Via the helpful advice I received via another thread here in the L6 Helix Community (http://line6.com/support/topic/15619-helix-no-input-mp3cd-¿why/) I purchased the iPad camera kit to be able to connect it to the Helix via USB. It works perfectly, other than there does not appear to be a way to vary the iPad volume going through the Helix using this method: (1) The iPad volume control is disabled when using a USB interface and (2) there doesn't appear to be a way to vary the input volume on the Helix for an audio source being received into the Helix via the USB input (so as to control in the volume of the iPad audio signal via the Helix input). Question: Am I missing something - or is it true that there is no way to vary the iPad input volume with an input level control on Helix? Any insight here would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bradley GT
  24. For some weird reason the audio from my Helix LT USB records as midi. I have tried Reaper, GarageBand, and Audacity. All of them record the guitar as a midi file, and playback is just individual tones. I have confirmed that I am using the USB out connection and cable. I have confirmed my track output is USB. I have confirmed that I am using the correct input/output for each DAW. I have searched all over and can't find out what setting I have wrong. Can anyone help me out? I'm currently running: 2018 Macbook pro with Helix LT (updated to 2.92) connected via USB.
  25. After Windows 10 update my DAW no longer recognised Helix and there was a huge latency on USB 1/2. After unsuccessfully trying to solve by re-installing Helix Firmware I found a (non-helix-related) post on the web suggesting to uninstall USB host controllers. I did this on all USB Root Hubs and root Hubs (3) and it worked - however if you need to do this you will have to manually reboot your PC as your mouse/keyboard wont work until you reboot and USBs are re-installed.
