Hello there.. I am very new to any computer recording whatsoever.I have a pc laptop. I am looking to start recording some basic guitar tracks, and then hopefully some vocals over that. I would like to do all of this from my laptop, on a fairly tight budget. I am thinking of using reaper. Does anyone reccommend Reaper? Pros/Cons? What type of interface should I use? Can i use my mk2 express as an interface? Thanks for any help....

I am currently attempting to properly connect my Edirol MA10D Powered Speaker Monitors to my Line 6 UX2 toneport. For now I have it hooked up from the headphone jack of the UX2 device (1/8 inch cable with 1/4 adapter), to the line inputs behind the speaker monitor (other end of cable splits into left and right RCA jacks seen in photo: http://www.sweetwater.com/images/closeup/750-ma10d_img_rear.jpg). The problem is I am concerned this is not the optimal way to connect my speakers. I am also concerned this will cause latency when recording and with playback. I tried plugging the cable into one of the "Analog outputs" found on the back of the UX2, but the sound quality isn't nearly as good and the volume is not as loud. What is the correct way to connect my make/model speakers to the Line6 US2 toneport? Maybe go from left and right RCA line inputs to both Analog outputs??? Thank you.

Hello! I'm having some serious issues with the Line 6 TonePort UX2 model interface. I have gearbox all set up along with Reaper as well to start tracking guitar, bass, drums, etc. But whenever I plug my guitar into the Instrument Input (i.e. Normal input on the front) I get no sound coming from my computer. I'm not sure if the 1/4-inch headphones are really required in order to run the system through a computer and listen to it, or if I can just listen to what I'm play directly through the interface to the computer. So my questions are as follows: 1. How to I get sound out of my interface to my computer to listen to what I'm doing in real time? 2. What would be the proper settings to set on the interface to listen to what I'm doing through the speakers on the computer? I'd also like to know how to record what I'm doing. Whether I have to record through gear box to reaper, or record a track separate on gear box, then master it on reaper? 3. How do I record with the TonePort UX2? 4. How do I get it set up with/through the reaper program?

Hello. My problem is the difference of the sound while monitoring and the sound of the recorded track. I use the PodStudio UX2 with PodFarm 2.57 (Standalone) and Cubase 7. I'm montoring with the Sony SMS-1P. While I play the guitar on hi-gain I hear the nice bright sound, but when I listen to the recorded track, the sound seems to be more dry and "grey", there is more sand in it. And when I play it on clean, the monitoring sound is bright and light but when i listen it in cubase, it's rather deeper, dirtier and not bright at all. I record in 96kHz, 24bit (i set it in project setup in Cubase). I also tried to make a bigger asio buffer size, but i can't see the difference, and i don't know the optimal value for the better quality. So, any thoughts about this?

Does anyone know if there is a way to set up any sort of footswitch (maybe MIDI) to toggle through tones in Pod Farm? I have a ux1 running into a Mac Book Pro. I'm trying to make Pod Farm hands free. Let me know if you have any info. Thanks!

I just purchased Guitar Pro 6 and I want to directly capture my (guitar, keyboards, etc) in order to write the tabulature. I know that the GP6 can capture midi files directly. Can I use my UX2 to capture midi while playing? I use reaper as my recording software and POD Farm 2 for tones. Would I need any additional software or devices to be able to do this? Thanks for any help that you can give me

Although I can hear both vocals and guitar through my UX2, I can't seem to find any way of recording two separate mono tracks at the same time using Reaper as my DAW. Basically I want to record my guitar and vocals at the same time, then end up with two tracks that I can play about with and mix later on. I can get the UX2 to send the guitar out on channel 1-2 and the vocal out on channel 3-4 but when it comes to recording it in to Reaper, I really am stuck. On Reaper I can select my first input as input 1 (or 2) and the guitar records fine, but the second input 3 (or 4) is totally dead when I sing into the mic. If anyone has done this successfully on Reaper pls let me know. I have wasted a few hours trying to figure this out myself and all the google answers seem to be based on very old versions of Reaper :-/ Help! Here is my set up: UX2 using PodFarm2 Reaper latest version (Jan 2014) Windows 7 SM 58 Mic/Epiphone electric guitar And screenshots attached on what I have attempted so far, the UX2 set up I have, Main Reaper view and audio settings on Reaper. Thanks.

Hi there... I've Googled round for a lot of my answers, but just need some final confirmations. I have just got the UX2 and now I am after an expression pedal. Not too fussed about assignments, I just want a basic wah facility. Is there a cheap and cheerful solution? What about the FBV MKII - will this work with the UX2? Cheers, Lee PS - no metronome on the UX2 - have I missed something?

Hi, I'm having a few problems with connecting these two devices. I've set the UX2 up to recognize the mic so I'm getting signal and can hear it but I have to crank the input gain to about 9 to get anything decent out of it! And I'm using the word "decent" very lightly. The resulting sound is full of reverb and noise. I'm wondering if this is a general problem when using a UX2 and a condenser mic. I've borrowed this mic off a friend who uses it with a Sapphire Pro 14 and he gets beautiful recordings. Clear and crisp. Do I need to amp the signal before it reaches the UX2 preamp? Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks Patrick

So I have just downloaded podfarm 1 from the line6 page and I can't get any of the tones to load. I have owned a UX2 for years and now find that gearbox no longer works. I have registered my UX2 with the line6 monkey but cant find a way to register podfarm. the error i get when i try to load a tone is "failed to load tone" "(code 80001003) access denied to file or folder." any help would be greatly appreciated. gearbox used to work perfectly.

Hello all, Currently, I have been recording some songs on my UX2 and everything is turning out pretty good. The program I'm using at the moment is GarageBand (might get Reaper) and I have questions regarding the program and recording. 1) How do I go about recording vocals and guitar at the same time BUT on separate tracks? (if that makes any sense at all, the weird diagram down there should 'hopefully' explain my objective). |Guitar|~~~~~~~ |Vocals|~~~ ~~ 2) What my problem is, is that I record the both the guitar and vocals but the two come out on the same track. I have even tried making a separate track (like the diagram up there) and I still get the same result. What am I doing wrong and what do I need to fix? Multi-tracking didn't work either but I assume I'd still need to multi-track if I'm going to record vocals and guitar at the same time, right? 3) I usually mic up the guitar as well, but am I better off just putting the guitar into the UX2's input? If there is a link that answers this question, by all means share. Thank you in advance :)

Hi, a friend of a friend is selling his UX2 and I was thinking of getting it but I had a few questions. The POD Farm license, doe she have to transfer it to me? does it follow the device? Don't really want to buy the device if I have to buy an additional licence I have a POD XT Live with the Metal Shop pack. Will I be able to use it with the UX2? Thanks

So I was looking into buying the POD Studio UX1, but I was wondering if there was any to record certain tracks that go into the pod by themselves. So for example, could i have both my guitar and my ipod playing through the POD at the same time, but only record the guitar signal? If not, is there anyway to do this without UX2 or any other POD? Thanks.

Hello, this problem has been doing my head in for ages. When I plug my headphones into the POD and select the device in Cubase or in any other program such as Guitar Rig it only outputs sounds to the left headphone. I am using an Jack to Aux adapter to plug my headphones into. I have tried many other adapters and many other sets of headphones but still the same result. Any help would be appreciated.

I updated my MacMini (end 2012 with internal 750Gb SSD) to OS X 10.9.1. I am using a Line6 UX2 with drivers 7.3.6 (Monkey : 1.65) I ma using Logic X (last version) And I have big crackling and popping issues when I try to record my guitar or bass (on both instrument inputs). I tried to make a bigger buffer in the system prefs and/or Logic X, but it changes nothing. Impossible to have a "clean" recording without a periodic crackling noise (periodicity depending on the buffer size, from aprox 0.3 to 1 second space) The only way to get it clean again is : 1/ to deactivate "core audio" in Logic X. But then I loose all the cool guitar and bass effects... and that's (partly) why I bought Logic in the first place !! 2/ I plug my little Apogee Jam (which I bought for my iPad) and there i gat Logic Audio working perfectly !! But I bought mu Line6 UX2 to use it !!! So please people : fix the UX2 drivers for Maverick !! Or tell me what's wrong with my UX2 ? .. In the meantime, I've lost too much time trying to fix Line 6 core audio problems ! If you can't make drivers for the mac, just say it !! I'm selling my line 6 junck and switching to MOTU ! They have a REAL customer support for Mac OS and CARE about us !!

Hello, I would like to ask the question. Is it possible to connect my guitar amp Roland Cube XL20 (AUX IN) into the Line6 UX2? Somewhere I read that it is not recommended to conect amp via phones output so I have decided to use left and right analog outs on UX2 and connect it into AUX IN in my Roland Amp (by using a cable like that in the file attached). Is it a good idea? Or, do you recommend another solution? Thanks a lot for your answers. JiR

I have a Jackson JSX-94 Concept, with Jackson Single-Coil pickups, I'm running it through my Line6 UX2 into my PC and recording with Reason 7. Ive noticed when I have some of the more distortion'y effects I get what sounds like a digital interference, I don't know if this is the hard-drive, the fan or power-supply... or something else... I've recorded the sound I get when the volume is turned up only slightly. If anybody knows whats causing the noise, and what I can do to fix it. Cheers, Jimmy. Interference.wav

Pod Farm (ux2) Has Muffled, Dark Sound?
MichaelFJ posted a topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
I got POD Farm a while ago with my UX2, but it has always had a bad sound. It sounds like it's being played through one of those little 9V-battery-powered amps, rather than a professional, high quality amp, even when the volume is turned up. No matter how much I turn up the gain (I've even boosted my treble to the max and cut the low-mids out), it still sounds like it's muffled, and it sounds really bad. Even when I plug the cable into it and it makes the buzzing sound that usually happens, even that sounds muffled. It sounds like I'm plugging it into a $15 interface rather than a professional guitar amplifier. NOTICE: I play different songs on YouTube that have the same settings as I use, and the songs I listen to there have a high-quality tone. So I'm almost certain it's not the speakers. HERE IS MY EQUIPMENT: -MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.8.5) PROCESSOR: 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MEMORY:3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM -Creative Inspire T3300 Speakers (They have a 1/8" input jack that I connect to the "headphones" input on the UX2 using an adapter) -High-quality guitar cable -Agile Interceptor Pro 930 with 30" scale and active pickups -This guitar is HIGH-QUALITY and has a very bright tone, and it should have one on POD Farm, but it doesn't. Is there a reason for the tone sounding really bad? Are there settings on my computer or something that I can change? OR could I upgrade my sound card? -
Hi there Line6 users! Do you know what impedance use the Pod studio UX2 in Instrument inputs (active and passive) and in Line inputs? I' ve done a weird thing but it can work IMHO: I've plugged in the line input my little guitar amp through the phones output but the recorded guitar make a lot of noise. Perhaps must I put a DI box between the amplifier's phones output and the pod and connect the the DI box output to a Pod's Mic input? Thx, and keep on rockin'!

Hello Line 6 community, I recently received the Line 6 UX2 POD studio as a gift. I previously had the GX POD on a different system and decided it was time to step up. After updating all my drivers and having everything up to date, I was still a little peeved that I could only have access to the same amp models as when I had my GX. I had updated my POD farm to the latest version, un-installed, and did it again with no luck. I was able to run my pod setup through my DAW (I use reaper) and record, I even put out a track to test the new hardware. However, today after a session crash I was afraid that I blew it, because the lights on the level meters would not turn on. After rebooting, the POD worked again but I decided it was time to get my amp models. Then, I ran the License Manager. I had previously registered my device through the line 6 site. After running the license manager and registering my product and my computer, I opened my pod farm to find all my missing tones! However, now my UX2 POD was not picking up any signal. I would plug in my speakers and see the two level meters register, but my POD farm still was not recognizing signal from my guitar. I rebooted my comp, and now my POD studio doesn't register a thing. TL:DR; UX2 POD studio worked fine prior to running the License Manager from Line 6 Monkey. Now I can't get POD farm to recognize my guitar signal. -Chuck

Hi there. First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong topic. Closest one I could find. I've been using a Line 6 GuitarPort with GearBox for 5+ years, but recently bought PodFarm 2.5 (and I have all the expansion tone packs). I was wondering, if I upgrade to a UX2, will there be any difference/improvement in sound quality between using the GuitarPort and the UX2, as it will be running on the same software and I'll be using the same guitar? Also wondering if there's any cheaper option of buying the UX2 - I already have PodFarm, so I don't really want to have to pay for it again. And last but not least - will the expansion packs I've bought work on my UX2 as well as the GuitarPort? I've seen a few threads saying they struggled to get the licenses working on more than one interface. Thanks for your time, and any feedback would be appreciated.

I have an extremely weird problem thats been going on for a while but is getting worse. I practice by connecting my M-audio keyboard to garageband. Garageband then outputs the sound to my UX2 which then connects to a PA system. The problem is that sometimes (or very often recently) a large pop goes of and once the pop goes of the keyboard still has its blue lights on to show its connected, but playing it doesn't do anything. Here's the weirdest part; if I turn the keyboard on and off it starts to work but the sustain pedal starts working in reverse! No matter how many times I turn it on and off, whether the pedal is depressed when I do this or not, the problem remains. The only way to solve it is to wait maybe 20 minutes or unplug and plug back in the UX2! Its strangest problem and I don't know what is causing it. The keyboard requires no drivers and all mu UX2 ones are up to date. Please could someone make some suggestions as to what the problem might be?
