So, I bought a Vetta 1 combo today and it was working perfectly in the store. I brought I home and plugged it in and was presented with this (see image) the screen looks garbled and wonky. I took it back to the store because they have a 60 day warranty on used items and i won’t have it back for about 2 weeks. Does anybody know anything about this? I thought it had something to do with the internal battery but I just want to see if anyone here knows anything about this.

I recently purchased a POD HD500X. I already have a Vetta II amp and Spider Bogner amp. Has anyone run the HD500X into these amps? How did you set it up? David

Hello friends I have just gotten a Firehawk and I have som problems understanding a few (probably silly and easy) things with the alternative "four cable method" and the Firehawk. It's been correctly connected (thanks for all instructions about that) and when the FX Loop is turned on I can use all the effects nicely. But when I turn the FX Loop off of the FH there is no sound at all? It's like the amp I'm running FH through is turned off. And I cannot (FX Loop turned on or off) hear any of my playback music. The music that normally via bluetooth gets sent to the poweramp What can be the problem do you think? If I plug the FH stright inte the "guitar in" on my amp or just use my amp without FH then the amp works fine but somehow the 4 cable method seem to disconnect the poweramp in my amp (or something) Thanks in advance for help and have a bjotiful x-mas Fish ps. pic is to show my setup in my ipad ds

When using my Variax guitar with the digital cable with my Vetta II amp, how to I use external wah and whammy pedals? The loop does not seem to work correctly. Thanks, David McCarter

I just bought a used Vetta version 1. I bought it sight unseen with the longboard for a really good price. I really hoped that it already had the VDI expansion card installed, but alas.... it did not. Of course, I have had no luck sourcing one. I turn, in desperation to you all. Where can I find a VDI Expansion card for my Vetta. I have been reading about a lot of "dead" Vettas. I'd love to pick up a VDI card from someone who pulled it out of their old Vetta. Scott

i recently went back to using my Vetta II HD and re-bought a Marshall 1960B. i had been using my PODxt PRO with only the direct out for live applications. well, i upgraded my guitar as well. went from a Godin XTSA (with passive pickups) to an Epiphone Phophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX (with an EMG 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the neck...all from the factory). I loved EMG's when i used them from 2003-2007. never had issues. from the moment i've tried my new setup at rehearsal, i get a weird static/hum swell after stacatto palm mutes. like a delayed compressor kicking in for 1-2 seconds after i stop. it doesn't seem to happen on my guitars with passive pickups. but the sound only comes out of my cab, not through the PA via XLR direct out of the head. Is this an electrical grounding issue? i've tried different outlets in the basement and the issue remains. i use monster cables at rehearsal, but i have a Line 6 Relay G90 that i use live. i cannot figure out where the problem is.....today i'm going to try some foam between the bridge and tailpiece as well as behind the nut on the headstock....i dont know this is where the issue is coming from, but i can't seem to find any forums where other people are experiencing this. any help would be appreciated.

Hello there, Recently started playing in a band and bought an old Vetta 1 simply for sound and the FX and pedalboard. I have flashed 1.03 works fine except can't get the Vol and Pedal 1 to work as they should. IOW Select any amp and Vol does not work and neither the Expression pedal. Strange enough there are some presets where either of them works OK.. Any suggestions? Tried almost everything and getting a bit stressed. Pretty OK with s/w, flash, parameters and programming. Hopefully there is a simple solution out there. Thanks.

Hello good morning :) Excuse me, I am completely new to the daunting experience of recording my own stuff. This means that my question (s) might come across as completely naïve but please bare with me. I have a Vetta II that I am familiar with. A macbook pro, retina (2014). A GuitarPort (very old but works fine) and M-Audio USB MIDI interface (Uno). I have just bought Logic Pro X because I wanted to start recording stuff (GB is not my cup of tea) so... To my question: How do I set up my Vetta II to run the sound to my Mac direct? As it is now the sound comes out of the speakers and the mic in my mac picks the sound up. That is not how I want it. I want the sound from Vetta that I have dialed in to be sent digitally straight into the DAW. Bearing in mind what I have and how little I know, can somebody please tell me how this should be done? I am extremely greatful for any help in the matter //z

here is my conversation with line6 support this week RE 2.50 update for vetta: I can not believe they blatently lied..... I think its now time to get them to stand by their customers and finally get a revised 2.50 update out there, that WONT brick amps. i laid it out simply.... LINE6 KNOW THEIR VETTA 2.50 UPDATE IS FAULTY, AND ARE NOT WILLING TO SUPPORT THE GUYS WHO SUPPORTED THEM THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH A RECESSION polmacanraoi Sep 24, 17:58 PM do you have the syx version, as your recent l6 monkey does not recognise the vetta update path afisher Sep 24, 14:23 PM VettaCombo_2_50.vtf afisher Sep 24, 14:23 PM Hello, I have attached the update. By using it, you agree to the risks of bricking your amp and understand that we cannot repair your amp for free if it does brick. The file is "use at your own risk" only. Regards, Andrew Product Support Line 6 polmacanraoi Sep 23, 10:22 AM i have invested a considerable amount of time setting up my patches to include whammy etc, which do not come in any there update. and for the record, i have never bricked a vetta before, so it is very assuming of your service manager, that all vetta owners are complete morons. i have seen other users on the forum, receiving their updates, up to last month i therefore demand an update, or i will be seeking my legal options, as i feel i was sold a product, that line6 know has a system default. otherwise, why would they take the update down, when they could've simply went back to the drawing board, and either created a simple update app, or actually distributed something that worked. As a result, i have a vetta that doesn't work. polmacanraoi Sep 23, 06:16 AM So this means that a flagship amp that has an update, doesn't have an update?? Do you not think that line6 would work on a fix rather than disabling their customers?? I am not happy about this. And this will turn me off buying any further line6 products in the future. Your service manager needs to do his job properly!! afisher Sep 22, 16:51 PM Hello, Unfortunately we do not have the update available anymore. Since there have been way too many individuals breaking their amps while updating, the service manager has taken the download down and we do not have the firmware for distribution. Regards, Andrew Product Support Line 6 For shame Andrew, and his service manager!!! Anyone that needs the update, drop me a PM, i will be uploading it to my own webpage

Greetings, I used to come here many years ago. I´ve revived my passion for music and my amp is currently in the repair shop. The technician tells me the main board need to be replaced since one of the processors is fully damaged. I was wondering if it would be possible to find the replacement somewhere. I´d apprecciate any help. Thanks in advance, Ron

Please help! I have my original Vetta sitting in a room in my house for a while and I decided to dust it off and bring it on out to jam with. Everything works on it EXCEPT for the EDIT function. I can NOT edit any effects or change any settings by hitting this button. All my knobs work and I can change their settings, but when I hit let's say EDIT and then another button like StompBox 1 so I can change the settings, the screen appears like it wants to change to the different screen (very quick, under a second), but the screen won't go to the edit screen. So I cannot change any effect setting or change what type of effect for that matter. Any info is appreciated.

Hello, I have been trying to find some Vetta 4x12 cabinets for my Vetta ll HD. I have already found 3, but I need one more. Anyhow i have been looking online, mostly used guitar center and I have gotten lucky so far. BUT its so DIFFICULT to identify all the line 6 4x12's from each other. And there's NO info on past cabs with G12h-90 speakers. The legacy photos only shows the current line 6 logo? A few questions 1. What was the first VETTA 4x12? Meaning did Line 6 make the SAME cab for the Flextone as for the Vetta 1? I heard the Flextones had tubetone speakers in them? 2. Also the there's only 2 ways that I know how to identify Vetta 4x12's and thats they all have white piping on the front and they all have the OHMS selector on the back plate (320 watts max) 3. anyone selling one? thank you everyone

Hey all! I've been using a Vetta I amp for about the last 10 years, but I've come to a crossroad with it. The main display screen doesn't work any more (can't edit patches!) and over time an annoying hum has devolped when the amp is on(nothing plugged in). So at this point I can either pay to have a tech look it over/ fix it or spend that money on a new rig. My question is to anyone with experience using a Vetta. Do you feel that a DT50/HD 500 set up is a significant improvement? Do the effects/distortions/reverbs/etc sound better (less digital?) I'm hoping to crap my pants at the difference! I haven't personally demoed either, but I'm thinking of getting them from somewhere with a good return policy as I know a store testdrive isn't enough time to really get a feel for these things. Also, am I correct in thinking that 50w tube amp is equivilant in volume to a 100w solidstate amp? Convince me to drop $1800! ;)

Vetta II Post Delay Mix Issue On some patches with POST DELAY active, you will notice that if you turn DELAY off/on, the perceived mix will jump to %100. Please follow the steps below when the problem patch is active to resolve this issue: Select FOOT CONTROL. Scroll to Page 4 that say PEDAL 1. Use the black knob under DEST to assign PEDAL 1 to a different parameter (an fx you are not using on the patch), Go to page 5 and if PEDAL 2 is set to POST DELAY MIX, follow the same instructions above. Select SAVE twice to save the changes. Gain/Drive Reversal When Using Line 6 Edit Drive and gain for distortion effects are reversed when loaded into Line 6 Edit: After loading a tone or changing the model selection, the drive and gain values for distortion effects are reversed when comparing the amp display to Line 6 edit. When adjusting the drive or gain using Line 6 Edit or the amp, the correct control moves and jumps to match the value of the one you are moving. This effects all distortion effects, and also happens when loading a tone.

Q: How do I go about bypassing the amps and cabs in my Vetta? A: The amp models can be bypassed on any preset channel, simply turn the amp model knob to the left to amp model "1" this is amp model bypass, then "Save". With the amp model in bypass the cabinet model will follow, "No Amp, No Cab". Q: How can I set the volume pedal on the FBV or FBV Shortboard to be "always on"? A: All you have to do is "Save" it in the on position into each preset. Simply go into each preset, activate the volume pedal and press SAVE. Q: Can I load Vetta II presets into my original Vetta? A: No, Vetta II presets loaded into your non-updated Vetta can cause your amp to freeze up if they contain amps, effects, or other features that are not in the original Vetta. If this happens, simply turning the amp off and back on again should bring things back to normal, but you probably want to avoid that, especially at a gig or session. Q: Are the post effects in the Vetta routed after the cabinet modeling? A: Yes, the Post Effects come after the Cabinet Models. Q: Does the Vetta have an Acoustic Simulator? A: The Vetta does not include an acoustic simulator but it does feature two amp models that were designed to be used with acoustic guitars with piezo pickups and electric guitars that feature one of those fancy, newfangled bridges with the 'acoustic' pickup built in. Q: If I have a Variax plugged into a PODxt Live or Vetta, can I run Workbench and Line 6 Edit at the same time? A: No. Due to the MIDI connection between the Vetta II and the computer, there are some messages sent when running both programs that do not allow them to be run at the same time. Q: Is the Vetta Midi controllable? A: Yes. please consult the manual for the midi implementation list. Line 6 Manuals Q: Why doesn't Vetta do delay spillover? A: For delay and reverb trails to work correctly, you would need an entire second processing engine (or most of one), and a separate signal (or data) path. Let's take an simplified example from a PODxt: You've got a screamer and tube delay pre with 2 repeats, a Blackface Lux model, a Rotary Horn and a light plate reverb post. You switch to a different patch that has the delay switch to a digital in post with 6 repeats, shuts off the mod, but changes it to a U-Vibe and moves it pre, changes the reverb to a heavy Medium Hall, and switches the amp model to Insane. If you just take the delay buffer and dump it out, you get the sound of a tubescreamer (since what's in the buffer actually gets processed by the tube and wow and flutter models as it leaves the buffer) with none of the delay tonality, amp tone, no modulation, no reverb. Or, you run it through the new models and get something completely jarring. To make it sound reasonably natural, you need to process the buffer through the tube delay model, through the Blackface Lux model, through the Rotary Speaker, and through the plate reverb model. In other words, just about the exact same amount of processing that it takes to do a whole sound anyway. So, you have to have a second processor, just as powerful as the main one, that is only used to do this when switching patches (because if you use it to do anything else, you might not have enough horsepower available to do all the processing required. In other words, a second XT, lying fallow, except for those few seconds a night that you might need it). It's like buying a second car that you constantly have on a tow bar behind your regular car, just in case you run out of gas. Not very practical.

Q: Can I go direct from the Vetta to a recording console or PA system? A: Yes,the Vetta II can be used with or without speakers in a studio or live performance application directly through the board. Page 4.32 of the Vetta II Pilot's Handbook it describes how to turn the outside speaker cabs off in order to use the head to run direct. The second page that comes up from the Output Setups button lets you turn both the internal and any external speaker cabs off. When you have turned the speakers off, the Master Volume Control sets the level for the direct outs. Q: How do I hook up an external effects processor to my Vetta? A: While we've tried to anticipate all of your effects needs, you may still want to use other effects with Vetta. That's okay, we won't be upset. Obviously, if you've got actual physical world stompboxes you want to use, run them in front of Vetta as you would do with any other amp. If you've got rack mount effects or other devices that work at line level, these can be hooked up in Vetta's effects loop. This loop is switchable (from the front panel or from the FBX foot controller), the on/off state is remembered with each channel that you save, and you can even route the loop either series or parallel. To hook something up to Vetta's loop, you'll need a pair of what are commonly referred to as 'Y' or 'insert' cables. These cables have a 1/4-inch TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) plug on one end, and that splits out to a pair of 1/4-inch TS (Tip, Sleeve) plugs at the other end. You'll need one of these for Vetta's loop send, and one for the return. An effect insert uses these cables to allow input and output signals to both be connected at the one jack. If Vetta had an effect insert (like many mixing boards do), you'd jack the TRS end of a single one of these cables in this insert, then one of the split ends of the cable would go to the effect's input and the other would go to the effect's output. But as the picture shows, we're not doing that. Once you've got your external effects hooked up, press the LOOP button as needed to get the loop turned on. The next step is to set up the send and return levels for the loop. Press the Edit button. If the Loop page isn't showing already, press the Loop Button and it will be. You'll see something along these lines: The left most knobs, labeled Amp1/L Send and Amp 2/R Send control your signals differently depending on how your loop is routed. You'll want to check out Effect Routing on page 4.17 of your manual in order to get your loop properly set for the particular sonic madness you have in mind. When the loop is first in the chain of post effects or in any parallel routing, the loop sends are getting signals from the discrete outputs of Amp 1 and Amp 2, regardless of how the amps are panned. When it's not first in the post effects signal path, routed in series or chain, the sends are from the left/right outputs of the previous effect. When the loop is routed parallel or chain, set the mix control on the effect in the loop to 100% wet. Use the Return Mix knob on the display shown above to determine how much of the effect you want to hear. If you instead try to run your external effect at something other than 100%, you'll get a bad sonic experience known as 'comb filtering' to audio engineers if the external effect unit is digital, and you'll get your stereo signals collapsing to mono if your external effect unit sums its left/right inputs to mono (as many effects processors do). When the loop is routed series, use the mix control on the effect in the loop to set the mix. No worries about comb filtering here, but if your effect unit sums its left/right inputs to mono (often, the 'direct' signal is summed, even when the 'effect' part of the signal is stereo) then the fancy panning you set up on Vetta may be lost when you hit a chord. Q: What will happen if I connect a mono effect pedal to effect loop of the Vetta Combo? A: The effect from the mono pedal will only effect the "left" side of the signal when panning the signals hard left/right. We reccomend panning the center for both channels if you plan to use a mono effect in the stereo effect loop. Q: How can I get my Heilsound Talkbox plugged with a Vetta Combo? A: In order to use Heil Talkbox with the Vetta, connect a speaker cable from the Vetta's Left Speaker Outputs to the input on the Talkbox. Next, you'll need to customize the speaker leads connected to Vetta's left speaker. Basically, you'll need a cable that has a 1/4" speaker jack on one end (tip +, sleeve -) and two, crimp terminal clips on the other. Connect the 1/4" speaker jack to the Talkbox output and the two, crimp terminals to Vetta's left speaker. Make sure you keep track of which clip is positive and which clip is negative and make sure they are connected to the speaker correctly. If the sound coming from the speaker seems to be strange, you may need to reverse the clips. Connect the Talkbox tube and your microphone to your P.A. (or second amp) as instructed in the Talkbox manual. When connected in this manner you will hear the Talkbox coming out of the P.A. speakers (or second amp) and the amp's normal tone coming from Vetta's right speaker. If you want to mute the amp's normal tone and just hear the Talkbox, you will need to pan the Vetta's amp models all the way to the left, in the Vetta presets that you will be using with the Talkbox. This can be done via the Amp/Cab Details menu, Page 2, Amp Only knobs.

Q: I have a blank screen on my Vetta? A: If you can't see any characters on your Vetta when you are going through the update, please angle your Vetta or look very closely at the screen at an angle. You should see a faint readout on the screen. If you cannot see anything at all (and adjusting the contrast does not help), you will need to reinstall the firmware. See the Vetta Software Update/Reflash Procedure for the correct method for reflashing your Vetta. Line 6 recommends (but does not officially support) the M-AUDIO MIDISport Uno. Some MIDI to USB devices use an old technology known as "active sensing" and/or they cannot handle the large file transfer. Please ensure that you install the correct drivers directly from the M-Audio website. Q: I have slow patch changes on my Vetta? A: If program changes seem slow when switching from preset to preset after you've upgraded the Vetta's software, you will want to reset the program memory. Here's how: Press SAVE and scroll to page 11 "RESET FACTORY". While on this page, press SAVE to reset the Factory Bank. The right LCD will read "restoring FACTORY bank". When this process is complete, scroll to page 12 "RESET USER" and press SAVE once again. The right LCD will now read "restoring USER bank". Press TAP when the process is complete. Program change should now be back to normal. If this does not fix the problem, you want to reinstall the FLASH MEMORY on your VETTA II. This time when you are asked if you want to keep your existing patches, click NO. Q: Presets are not saved after I reboot my Vetta? A: The internal battery should be relaced. We use lithium batteries in the Vetta to store the user presets, a common replacement is the Panasonic BR2325-1HG. The current battery will need to be de-soldered and replaced with a new battery. If you are not confident in doing this replacement, it should be performed by an authorized Line 6 Service Center. Q: I get no sound when I plug my Variax into my Vetta's VDI? A: Ensure that the Variax is outputing signal and that your Vetta is receiving the informing by check the step in the Vetta manual (see 47 and 440 for more information). Also, press the "Output Setup" button then rotate the page knob to page 4/4. Look for "Format" section and turn the format knob (first from the left) to 44.1/16. Q: I am receiving an "access error" on my Vetta? A: This is an internal hardware error that needs to be serviced at an authorized Line 6 service center. Q: I am receiving eight "black boxes" in the display on my Vetta? A: This is an internal hardware error that needs to be serviced at an authorized Line 6 service center. Q: How do I find an authorized Line 6 Service Center? Click here to find a Service Center.
