  1. hey guys...having a little trouble in live situations when i want the volume to go up slowly. on the hd500x, i had no issues by the time i got to the toe position it was a powerful volume with great incrementation in between...now...i start moving the toe pedal to down and the volume seems to come in strong at about 15%...which makes it harder to do some great swells....i do have the setting for non linear...but i still have that issue..please help...and thank you and the rest of the forum for all the great info...
  2. Hello and happy 2016 everybody! I have used my HD500x for USB recording for a year now but always in mono. So today I switched to stereo and noticed that the right channel is always much louder than left channel. This applies to all patches, including those which shipped with the product. But if I listen with headphones from device's headphone jack, everything is in balance. Any idea of why I'm having the issue with USB to DAW? Thanks in advance! PS: I'm on El Capitan, latest drivers and firmwares
  3. Hi all Just received my Helix :) It is awesome in every way except one :( After a few minutes of playing, regardless of which patch, the output volume just decreases by itself. Sorry if this has been covered before but does anyone know what causes it and, more importantly, if it can be fixed? Thanks to all who take the trouble to help and inform
  4. Hi fellow Line 6 owners, I purchased an hd500x several months ago for live use as the lead guitar player at our local church. I am very very impressed with the hd500x. It is by far the best multi fx unit I've had the pleasure of using. After searching multiple forums/posts I've come to you veterans for any advice or experience that you would be so kind to offer. I use the line 6 ex-1 exp pedal for volume and swells. I run it into the hd500x's "Pedal 2" input. It has great sound, but as many players have found, it isn't very good in the pedal-travel and durability department. So I thought, I'm gonna buy a heavier volume pedal with better travel/volume ratio. So after several hours of research I decided to try the Morley PVO+ Volume Plus Pedal. My error, I've found, is that it isn't compatible when plugged into the "Pedal 2" input on the hd500x. So I tried running my guitar into the morley, then from the morley into to the "guitar in" input on the hd500x. It works, but with inferior sound quality as compared to the ex-1 (Pedal 2 input). Not to mention I'm not impressed with it's volume taper, even after being "adjusted" multiple times with indiscernible results. So, my dilemma lies in finding a new external pedal to run into the (Pedal 2) input for volume and swells. Does anyone know of any well built pedals that are "compatible" to our beloved hd500x and its software? Any owners out there with success using other brands of volume or exp pedals in the (Pedal 2) input? I've read the forums and only found the Mission Engineering EP1-L6 For Line 6. Its nice and all, but $130? If that is my only option I'm inclined to stick with the ex-1. Thank you for patiently reading my lengthy post. Any advice or shared experiences would be very valuable to me as well as greatly appreciated. Sincerely, kkaustin
  5. Hi! I recently get a Spider iv of 75 watts. I was so excited about it, but then i start with trouble. I was playing...testing the presets and making mine but suddenly I realized that the volume was too high in some of them, I didnt want to change the master volumen every time I change my channel...so I start reading the manual and I start changing my channel volume....I was doing fine, until I try to change the channel volumen of one of my presets. An example Drive Bass Mid Treb Channel Vol. 7 6 4 8 3 (On the display and knobs) This is how i safe my preset Then I move chanel volumen becouse it was a little bit down so it end like this... Drive Bass Mid Treb Channel Vol. 7 6 4 8 5 (On the display and knobs) BUT!!! the volumen just went all the way down.... so I needed to turn the channel volume all the way up just to get a lower sound than the initial one. What am I doing wrong?
  6. Hi! I'm enjoying my new Pod HD 500X as my new "bass amp" but I'm having som problem with assigning effects to the EXP-pedal. I want the EXP 1 to control just my volume; and my EXP 2 controlling both the pitch glider and the volume, for a swell-whammy-type of thing. It works to assign either one just fine but, when i press the toe swith from EXP 2 back to EXP 1 the volume control is not working. Really anoying! Can someone please tell me the right way to do this?
  7. Ciao a tutti!
  8. Hello guys, I recently bought the Amplifi FX100, and I was wondering what is the best way to get my tones all at the same volume. I'm going to play live (in a few weeks) using the FX100, but I don't like the fact that I have to change the volume on my amplifier or the FX100 everytime I switch to a different tone. I use the pedal as a stompbox, so with no preset amp, but with my own amp (Fender Princeton Chorus). So what is the best/easiest way to get the tones to be in the same volume? Thanks! Joël
  9. Hello there, I have recently gotten a DT25 combo and a Pod HD500X to replace my aged and now defunct Spider III 120. I have enjoyed learning to use it and although i have come across a few quirks of using the two together and with other devices, I have so far been able to come up with a solution to all of my issues. However, a new issue has come up and I am hoping that this very knowledgeable forum can help! -Firstly, what I have been doing and enjoying; 1. DT25 is in LVM 1a. Looper is in post mode 2. Start on clean patch 3. Record chord progression 4. Exit overdub and exit looper to switch patches 5. Switch to lead patch (uses treadplate full and cab sims) 6. Loop is playing with the same volume as on previous patch, and I have my lead sound to solo with. 7. No issues with this method! It works how I would expect. :) -Here is where the issue arises. I had not noticed this yet as I had not had a chance to play with the DT in Normal Volume mode and use the looper; 1. DT25 is in Normal Volume Mode 1a. Looper is in post mode 2. Start on clean patch 3. Record chord progression 4. Exit overdub and exit looper to switch patches 5. Switch to lead patch (uses treadplate full and cab sims) 6. Loop is playing much louder as compared to the previous patch, and I have my lead sound to solo with. 7. What is causing this volume change when in this volume mode on the DT25? It makes it very hard to use the looper as the volume changes are quite abrupt and it creates a weird disparity between the original comp and the loop. I appreciate any comments that you all are able to offer, thank you! :)
  10. So, I have owned just about every pod there is...other than the original pod...they were all solid,..until I got the pod hd500...granted, the hd500 has more power and way better sounds than the other pods,..but..the tuner just stopped working....it was ok, everything else worked,..but that just bugged me...couldn't be fixed with updating or even backing up the flash memory....so I got a great deal on a like new hd500x!! so I picked that up,...and figured I'd use the hd500 with no tuner for a backup....little did I know how soon I'd have to break out the backup...now I get no wah or volume on any of my patches...you can hear the wah engaged, but the pedal does nothing...nor does volume....I don't remember any issues with my pod 2.0, the two pod xts I owned,..(with footpedal), the xt live,..or my pod x3...and those things got way more beatings than this does...I never gig with pods anymore...I use real amps,..but I used to use the xt and xt live for my metal band....I originally stopped using pods cuz I like a more organic tone for live,..,..but now I don't think they'll be reliable enough either....disappointing,..because I love the tones...it's my rig for at night for practice when I don't have the luxury of being loud...now I guess I have to find something new....spend a bazillion dollars on a kemper or axe fx...I hoped it wouldn't come to this.....
  11. Hi I am using a JTV59 through an HD500 into an Stagesource L3 live. The rig sounds really sweet but the volume seems to swing around a lot depending on the model on the Variax. It seems to be more noticeable since I added the L3. I know that an LP has a hotter signal than a Strat etc. and that L6 modelled the guitars to behave like the real thing. The thing is though that it's not very helpful in a live situation as I like to keep the number of patches to a minimum, using different JTV models within the same patch. Has anyone managed to match volumes across the model range? If so it'd be great if they could post.
  12. My setup: JTV59 > VDI > HD500 > USB > DAW JTV fw v2.21 HD500 fw v2.62 Chosen JTV model Lester Bridge unmodified compared against JTV59 bridge. Chosen HD500 patch - my own custom built using Marshall 100 model. The patch has a Hard Gate and then the Amp model, followed by a parametric EQ to remove the harshness around 3K, and then a Vintage pre EQ to remove bottom (80hz) and top (7khz) ends, and then finally a room reverb. And then a blank patch with both L + R sides boosted by 6db at mixer stage. Noted behaviour: On my custom patch the Lester Model drives the Marshall 100 amp model slightly harder than the JTV mags. (There is less difference on the recordings than I can hear on headphones A/B ing the two sounds - the mags always produce a clearer slightly less driven tone). On the blank patch the Lester Model has way less volume than the JTV mags. Attached sound file showing Marshall patch with Lester model followed by JTV mags, and then blank patch showing Lester model followed by JTV mags. Question: If the JTV mags are so much louder than the modelled Lester Bridge, then why does the modelled Lester bridge drive the Marhsall 100 model harder than the louder JTV mag bridge humbucker? I expected the louder pickup signal to drive the model amp harder but it is the other way around in this instance. JTV-Model-Mags-Compare.zip
  13. I've had a JTV59 for about 3 months, and I noticed that almost all the models have very quiet E, A, and D strings, while the G, B, and E are much louder. The B is the loudest, but that is typical of many guitars I've played. The problem is my higher treble notes drown out the deeper bass notes. Is this due to variations in the piezo pickup sensitivity in the bridge? The magnetic humbuckers don't suffer from this problem. This is what I've tried to correct the problem, and it helps a lot. In Workbench, I went through the models one by one and picked each string from low E to high E, listening for which strings were louder and by how much. Then I turn the individual string volume of loud strings down to between 60 and 80, depending on what sounds good with each model. Lastly, I raise the overall model volume by 2 to 5 db, to bring all the strings up to a good volume. The E, A, D strings still sound less expressive, less detail in the tone, but at least the volume is not completely drowned out by the treble strings. If the problem is the piezo, I imagine a replacement is expensive. I also noticed that raising the the overall db level on the Spank models actually helped them sound better, to me at least.
  14. When changing from one bank to another, the volume is lose, sometimes the POD X3 restart automatic and then start the sound. How can fix that?
  15. Right now there is a direct function of any volume and headphone volume for me. That is, if I want a hotter signal into Audacity no matter what is turn up..E.G. Master volume, computer volume, or mixer volume I hear it louder in my headphones. How can I get a hotter signal without hearing it loud? Thank you
  16. Hi I just bought a line 6 studio ux1 recording interface and after installation of the driver and pod farm 2.57 I can no longer hear any sounds on my computer. Nothing from youtube, no startup sound nothing. During installation I selected the ux1 driver instead of letting pod farm do that for me. I don't know if that screwed anything up for me. Please guide me through the process of fixing this please. Thank you, Marcipicus
  17. Hi everybody, I have a POD HD PRO X connected to an iMac with Yosemite. I´m using ProTools 11 too. I´d like to decrease the volume of the speakers without modifying the volume of the headphones and i´m not able to do it. Could anybody help me? Do I need something else? Thank you very much
  18. I'd like to see some pedals override the volume/wah feature on this pedal... I've been using the Digitech Whammy pedal clone on here, but I can't get the tones I want because there's no way to use it as an expression pedal on the fly? Is this a possible integration for the future, or is there another way to assign pitch shift to the expression pedal on it? I'd also like a tremelo on this pedal, with it speeding up as the expression pedal moves down. Many thanks, Kai.
  19. I am having problem adding a volume pedal and a wah pedal to my patch. In the HD500 edit software, on the controllers page I have the Volume Pedal set to EXP Toe switch....EXP-1....0%min and 10%max. I have the Vetta Wah set to EXP Toe switch.....EXP 2.....0%min and 100%max. However they do not work correctly. When I use the board, on EXP-2 I go no wah effect and on EXP-1 my tone completely changes to a right high chimey tome. I thought I had everything set correctly on the software but no matter what I do I can not get the Wah to work or the pedal to work and no change the tone..........What am I missing??
  20. I have pasted below something that I have just stumbled across online. The suggestion has never occured to me but I can't see why it wouldn't work. Does anyone out there control volume this way? "Extra Volume Pedal Adding a volume pedal to your signal chain on the HD500 takes up one of the eight available FX blocks. But there is a way of getting a volume pedal for free and leaving the eight blocks clear for other effects. Highlight your amp model on the screen and double click Move to open the expression pedal setting screen. The parameter you want is “output†and assign it to EXP1 or EXP2. Set the parameter minimum to zero percent and the maximum to whatever volume you’d originally set for the loudest on that patch. Voila, you can now control the amp model volume via the expression pedal without having to add a volume pedal block to your signal chain. And remember, as the channel volume doesn’t affect the tone this really is purely a volume control."
  21. I love the tube gain effect and the screamer and the fuzz! Honestly all of the stomp box distortion fx have something to offer but no matter how I adjust through gain/drive, master/channel volume, the gain fx always have a drop in volume when switched on, compared to the clean tone. I've tried setting them to Post instead of pre and that certainly boosts the volume quite a bit but it sounds awful, pre sounds great. I love being able to switch between clean and dirt as if using an actual pedal but that drop in volume... Anybody else run into this? Have any suggestions? It's pretty consistent throughout all the amp models but I generally use the clean red with tube gain effect, gain 100% drive somewhere between 50 and 85%.
  22. Hello I have a problem. My Pod hd500 does not respond to changes in volume. I have the same volume in this state and in this OS X Maverics. I hope for your help.

Today im just messing around with it and created a dual amp patch where i can switch from amp a to amp b. While creating it after inserting all the fx, i need to leave 2 blank space ( tge fx block in 500 edit software) as it stated DSP FULL please reduce usage. Anybody experience this and is this a common thing for 500x? e. Anybody experience this and is this a common thing for 500x? Then after successfully deleted the 2 blank effects i discover lost of volume although all the amps A and b cranked up.. i need to put the master knob to full in order to get a decent level of volume. But when i tested other patches downloaded from customtone and few my patches of my own everything is normal except my new created dual amp patch. Lastly, during soloing may i know what u guys use to boost up the volume? Is there any clean boost fx in the 500x. Thanx Reza
  24. Forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong section. After 10 years of being ont he sidelines, I'm gigging out again. I have the SPider Valve MKI and I love my tone in rehearsal. In a live venue, the tone turns tinny and harsh after about 25 feet out. I'm looking to mic the amp, but I'm wondering if I can use the direct out and run to the sound board. If I do, I'd still like to be able to hear my amp on stage. Does the DO cut the feed to the celestion speaker or does it act like a true cabinet extension? Thanks in advance, Matt
  25. Hey! Could someone point me to how to set up both a volume and wah pedal? I don't want to rely on the toe switch, I find I have to really lay into it and sometimes it is finicky when switching (it makes almost a crunching noise which is unnerving). Is it possible to use the switche(s) to toggle between the wah and volume pedal? I typically use the HD500 application to edit. If there is a customtone available I'd appreciate it. In an ideal world, I would want one switch to toggle between wah and volume...not sure that is possible. Thanks, Rick
