  1. The overall volume is the Master Volume control. This is controlled by the "big knob" when the LEDs are red (the default state). All of the other volumes happen before this one and it's ultimately how you control the output level while keeping everything relatively balanced by using all of the other controls. This is a global control. The Guitar Volume happens just before the master and is how you balance the guitar level against the Bluetooth streaming audio that is coming into the unit. This is also a global control and is accessed by pressing the big knob until the LEDs are white. The Channel Volume is like a Master for just the amp, and it is stored with the patch. It adjusts the output level without affecting the tone (like the Gain control on the amps would). This is the control you use to level your presets relative to each other. The slightly quirky thing here is that it does live in the amp processing slot, so it happens in the signal chain before the post effects. In v1.1 firmware and later, pressing the big knob until the LEDs are pink acts as a short cut to accessing this control without the app. The Gain on the amp panel is the per-patch parameter that affects the tone of the amp - also referred to as Drive The Volume Pedal is an additional real-time control whose value is not saved with the patch. You can see in the app where it lives in the signal path. The Master control on HD amps is considered a deep edit parameter (like sag, hum, etc.) that is saved with the patch and is exclusive to HD amps. It's the output level of the preamp to the power amp. When you load one of these models, the stored value is right for that amp in the default state and it's usually best to leave it where it is unless you are going for a very specific effect.
  2. The pins of the connection from input output board (1 to 6) to the A/D Board are shorten to the back casing. Isolating the caseing in this area whith tape solved the problem. nice mixing everyone M20D Rocks (pictures come later)
  3. My setup: JTV59 > VDI > HD500 > USB > DAW JTV fw v2.21 HD500 fw v2.62 Chosen JTV model Lester Bridge unmodified compared against JTV59 bridge. Chosen HD500 patch - my own custom built using Marshall 100 model. The patch has a Hard Gate and then the Amp model, followed by a parametric EQ to remove the harshness around 3K, and then a Vintage pre EQ to remove bottom (80hz) and top (7khz) ends, and then finally a room reverb. And then a blank patch with both L + R sides boosted by 6db at mixer stage. Noted behaviour: On my custom patch the Lester Model drives the Marshall 100 amp model slightly harder than the JTV mags. (There is less difference on the recordings than I can hear on headphones A/B ing the two sounds - the mags always produce a clearer slightly less driven tone). On the blank patch the Lester Model has way less volume than the JTV mags. Attached sound file showing Marshall patch with Lester model followed by JTV mags, and then blank patch showing Lester model followed by JTV mags. Question: If the JTV mags are so much louder than the modelled Lester Bridge, then why does the modelled Lester bridge drive the Marhsall 100 model harder than the louder JTV mag bridge humbucker? I expected the louder pickup signal to drive the model amp harder but it is the other way around in this instance. JTV-Model-Mags-Compare.zip
  4. I've had a JTV59 for about 3 months, and I noticed that almost all the models have very quiet E, A, and D strings, while the G, B, and E are much louder. The B is the loudest, but that is typical of many guitars I've played. The problem is my higher treble notes drown out the deeper bass notes. Is this due to variations in the piezo pickup sensitivity in the bridge? The magnetic humbuckers don't suffer from this problem. This is what I've tried to correct the problem, and it helps a lot. In Workbench, I went through the models one by one and picked each string from low E to high E, listening for which strings were louder and by how much. Then I turn the individual string volume of loud strings down to between 60 and 80, depending on what sounds good with each model. Lastly, I raise the overall model volume by 2 to 5 db, to bring all the strings up to a good volume. The E, A, D strings still sound less expressive, less detail in the tone, but at least the volume is not completely drowned out by the treble strings. If the problem is the piezo, I imagine a replacement is expensive. I also noticed that raising the the overall db level on the Spank models actually helped them sound better, to me at least.
  5. When changing from one bank to another, the volume is lose, sometimes the POD X3 restart automatic and then start the sound. How can fix that?

Master volume, computer volume, or mixer volume I hear it louder in my headphones. How can I get a hotter signal without hearing it loud? Thank you 0

  8. Hi I just bought a line 6 studio ux1 recording interface and after installation of the driver and pod farm 2.57 I can no longer hear any sounds on my computer. Nothing from youtube, no startup sound nothing. During installation I selected the ux1 driver instead of letting pod farm do that for me. I don't know if that screwed anything up for me. Please guide me through the process of fixing this please. Thank you, Marcipicus
  9. I'd like to see some pedals override the volume/wah feature on this pedal... I've been using the Digitech Whammy pedal clone on here, but I can't get the tones I want because there's no way to use it as an expression pedal on the fly? Is this a possible integration for the future, or is there another way to assign pitch shift to the expression pedal on it? I'd also like a tremelo on this pedal, with it speeding up as the expression pedal moves down. Many thanks, Kai.
  10. Hi everybody, I have a POD HD PRO X connected to an iMac with Yosemite. I´m using ProTools 11 too. I´d like to decrease the volume of the speakers without modifying the volume of the headphones and i´m not able to do it. Could anybody help me? Do I need something else? Thank you very much
  11. I have pasted below something that I have just stumbled across online. The suggestion has never occured to me but I can't see why it wouldn't work. Does anyone out there control volume this way? "Extra Volume Pedal Adding a volume pedal to your signal chain on the HD500 takes up one of the eight available FX blocks. But there is a way of getting a volume pedal for free and leaving the eight blocks clear for other effects. Highlight your amp model on the screen and double click Move to open the expression pedal setting screen. The parameter you want is “output†and assign it to EXP1 or EXP2. Set the parameter minimum to zero percent and the maximum to whatever volume you’d originally set for the loudest on that patch. Voila, you can now control the amp model volume via the expression pedal without having to add a volume pedal block to your signal chain. And remember, as the channel volume doesn’t affect the tone this really is purely a volume control."
  12. Had an issue the other day playing a festival where my rig dropped significantly in volume during a set. I haven't had this issue in the past. Luckily our sound guy was able to boost me in the main but still a concern. Signal Chain: Guitar > T.C. Electronic Polytune > Boss NS-2 > Pod HD500 >Crown XLS 1000 (running Input Y/Bypass into 2 cabs) What happened: Was playing fine at a normal volume, after a song I used my Polytune to tune. When I turned my tuner off my volume had dropped significantly. I don't believe it has anything to do with the tuner or NS-2 causing a sudden volume decrease as my tone was still the same (as I use the Pod as an amp modeler) all I had was a level drop. Is this an issue with the Pod? I updated firmware about 2-3 months ago but I will be updating tonight and will be downsizing to one cab which will hopefully resolve the issue but I was curious if this is a known issue with the Pods.
  13. Hi! I recently get a Spider iv of 75 watts. I was so excited about it, but then i start with trouble. I was playing...testing the presets and making mine but suddenly I realized that the volume was too high in some of them, I didnt want to change the master volumen every time I change my channel...so I start reading the manual and I start changing my channel volume....I was doing fine, until I try to change the channel volumen of one of my presets. An example Drive Bass Mid Treb Channel Vol. 7 6 4 8 3 (On the display and knobs) This is how i safe my preset Then I move chanel volumen becouse it was a little bit down so it end like this... Drive Bass Mid Treb Channel Vol. 7 6 4 8 5 (On the display and knobs) BUT!!! the volumen just went all the way down.... so I needed to turn the channel volume all the way up just to get a lower sound than the initial one. What am I doing wrong?
  14. Hello there, I have recently gotten a DT25 combo and a Pod HD500X to replace my aged and now defunct Spider III 120. I have enjoyed learning to use it and although i have come across a few quirks of using the two together and with other devices, I have so far been able to come up with a solution to all of my issues. However, a new issue has come up and I am hoping that this very knowledgeable forum can help! -Firstly, what I have been doing and enjoying; 1. DT25 is in LVM 1a. Looper is in post mode 2. Start on clean patch 3. Record chord progression 4. Exit overdub and exit looper to switch patches 5. Switch to lead patch (uses treadplate full and cab sims) 6. Loop is playing with the same volume as on previous patch, and I have my lead sound to solo with. 7. No issues with this method! It works how I would expect. :) -Here is where the issue arises. I had not noticed this yet as I had not had a chance to play with the DT in Normal Volume mode and use the looper; 1. DT25 is in Normal Volume Mode 1a. Looper is in post mode 2. Start on clean patch 3. Record chord progression 4. Exit overdub and exit looper to switch patches 5. Switch to lead patch (uses treadplate full and cab sims) 6. Loop is playing much louder as compared to the previous patch, and I have my lead sound to solo with. 7. What is causing this volume change when in this volume mode on the DT25? It makes it very hard to use the looper as the volume changes are quite abrupt and it creates a weird disparity between the original comp and the loop. I appreciate any comments that you all are able to offer, thank you! :)

Today im just messing around with it and created a dual amp patch where i can switch from amp a to amp b. While creating it after inserting all the fx, i need to leave 2 blank space ( tge fx block in 500 edit software) as it stated DSP FULL please reduce usage. Anybody experience this and is this a common thing for 500x? e. Anybody experience this and is this a common thing for 500x? Then after successfully deleted the 2 blank effects i discover lost of volume although all the amps A and b cranked up.. i need to put the master knob to full in order to get a decent level of volume. But when i tested other patches downloaded from customtone and few my patches of my own everything is normal except my new created dual amp patch. Lastly, during soloing may i know what u guys use to boost up the volume? Is there any clean boost fx in the 500x. Thanx Reza
  16. [Hi! Long-time player - first-time poster] I'm using my HD500x in Pedalboard mode with different effects assigned to each of the 8 foot switches. I would like to assign WAH and VOLUME to the Expression pedals, EXP 1 and EXP 2, but cannot figure out how to do that. I can take one of the FS and change it to WAH and then change the assignment to EXP 1, but then I lose the effect I had on that FS. I feel like this should be easy to do, but I just can't figure it out for some reason. What am I missing here? Thanks for your help.
  17. Forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong section. After 10 years of being ont he sidelines, I'm gigging out again. I have the SPider Valve MKI and I love my tone in rehearsal. In a live venue, the tone turns tinny and harsh after about 25 feet out. I'm looking to mic the amp, but I'm wondering if I can use the direct out and run to the sound board. If I do, I'd still like to be able to hear my amp on stage. Does the DO cut the feed to the celestion speaker or does it act like a true cabinet extension? Thanks in advance, Matt
  18. Hey! Could someone point me to how to set up both a volume and wah pedal? I don't want to rely on the toe switch, I find I have to really lay into it and sometimes it is finicky when switching (it makes almost a crunching noise which is unnerving). Is it possible to use the switche(s) to toggle between the wah and volume pedal? I typically use the HD500 application to edit. If there is a customtone available I'd appreciate it. In an ideal world, I would want one switch to toggle between wah and volume...not sure that is possible. Thanks, Rick
  19. I'm having a volume issue with my Spider II 75w combo. I can't get the volume to go below loud. I've had this amp for years, and I could usually use the master volume knob to level the sound at 'won't wake the neighbors' level. Within the last few weeks, however, I can no longer get it to go below about 8/10 -- on any preset or not. With the master turned all the way down, the channel volume all the way down, and no drive, the amp is still super loud. Moving any of these up does increase volume noticeably, but leaving them at 0 is still way loud! I've performed the factory reset, holding the 'A' button down for about 10 seconds while turning the amp on, but I'm still having the problem. Thanks in advance for any help or insight anyone can provide. Always grateful, Michael
  20. Some people have reported that after a JTV flash upgrade usually to v2.0 or v2.1, that the B and E strings have very low volume levels in comparison to the E,A,B,G strings on some models. Some have reported that a subsequent reflash or two fixed the problem, and others that they had to roll back to v1.9 to obtain models that had balanced string volumes, and finally some dived in to Workbench HD and tweaked the affected models to balance out the string sounds. I recently hit this issue when I upgraded to v2.1 and a subsequent reflash did not fix it, and as I had a gig coming up I had to roll back to v1.9 as a quick way to get back to balanced string volumes as I did not have the time to go in WB HD and manually adjust for the differences. I think It would be very useful to find out why this problem occurs and why it only affects some users and hopefully Line 6 can then fix the problem. So if we can gather plenty of useful data in this thread then we can pass it on to Line 6 to investigate. Please answer the following questions: if you have you ever had E and B strings at very low volume immediately following a flash upgrade? (a) what flash version were you upgrading from and to? ( B) what model JTV were you updating? © were you updating directly via JTV dongle or indirectly through an HD500 or HD500X or other device? (d) how did you fix the problem? (i) reflash firmware? How many times? (ii) tweaked string volumes global and models in Wokbench HD? (iii) roll back to v1.9 or another fw level? (e) have you ever experienced this problem on a fw release earlier than v2.0 and if so, what level was it? (f) which models had the problem? My answers: (a) v1.9 to v2.1 ( B) JTV59 © updated via HD500 (d) attempted 2 reflashes, but then rolled back to v1.9 (e) no (f) T-MOD positions 1,3,5 and SPANK 1 though 5 Thanks in advance for your help and answers.
  21. I have a spider iv 75 amp with FBV shortboard connected. Can someone tell me why the volume is so high when I turn it on? I have lower and raise the pedal to get the volume back under control.
  22. Hi, Is it possible to use the pedal expression to control the general volume of the guitar? How? Or does it allow to control only the presets of each effect? Thanks for your answers, Miquel (Barcelona)
  23. Recently I have been having issues with volume when connecting my HD500 to my DT50 via l6 link. I lost all my patches getting my HD500 serviced, and now when I go to import my setlist back into it from HD500 Edit...The volume is EXTREMELY low after i impoort the tones. I have the Halfstack DT50, and have to roll the volume up all the way up(volume knob pushed in, not pulled out) to barely get a practice volume. there is also a little bit of a hiss like the volume should be super loud, but something is preventing it. Before i imported the patches, i did update the firmware, but from what i can tell, all my output settings are how they should be, and I also tried a different cable for the l6 link. I also know it is not a tube issue, because when you plug a guitar directly into the dt50 without the hd500 hooked up, it sounds fine. Anybody else ever experience this? thoughts? Solutions?lol
  24. Hello, I have an issue with my first gen HD100. When plugged into my 2x12 Avatar cab, even with the master and channel volume all the way up, the amp is extremely quiet. It is still making noise and working but it isn't even as loud as a 5 watt amp. I have already tried changing the power tubes to a matched quad of JJ 6l6s and that did nothing. I am pretty sure it is an issue in the preamp stage since when I plug my guitar into the "poweramp in" I can get loud volumes out of the amp. Just not when running through the normal input... anyone have any ideas?
  25. Hi all, is it possible to control the volume of the looper on the M9 with an expression pedal? If so, how?
