  1. Hello I will start to use the X3 live as an audio interface for voice recording, I'm not really sure which would be the best mic, but for economical reasons...I'm tempepted to use my SM57 for it..and I have 2 concerns, 1- Would that mic be a good choice for vocal ? 2- Would the sound quality using the X3 live as an interface will be good enough for mastering ? I mean...at the end, will I be able to get a semi-professional sound? thanks Fabio
  2. Hi all, Today I find that I can no longer connect X3 live and kb37 with my Windows 10 PC. The latest Monkey software won't connect to either device. All my other USB musical devices are working perfectly fine with any cable. Windows 10(64 bit) does see my line6 gear but reports driver error..I have installed the latest drivers for both. The x3 was working perfectly fine with the PC a few weeks back..same with the kb37 a few months ago. Wondering if anyone else having this sort of issue. Thanks, TC
  3. Dear all, first of all, sorry for my bad english. I'm writing you from Italy. I'm owner of a Line6 X3 live since 2010. Some days ago, suddenly, the downer footswitches row (down bank, A, B, C, D, TAP switches) are dead. I've disassembled it, but by multimeter, all micro switches work well!. The wires strip and terminal strip get the signals properly to motherboard also. I've updated firmware and all possible by Monkey. But the problem doesn't fix. I can move anyway the A, B, C, D banks by a dedicated little scroller, but it is unconfortable. Obviosly, the tuner can't be working. How I can do? Please can someone to help me? I've already readed all threads I can try, without good results. I'm waiting your. Many thanks.
  4. Hi, i'm using x3 live. I replaced u17, u18, u19, u20 to oap2134ua and opa4134u. After replacement, i touched u18, the opa4134ua was very hot and i could only hear noise from the headphone jack. U30(5va regulator) also was hot. Chip temperature was about 65°C. I think u18and u20 shorted, so i removed u18, u20 and i could heard guitar sound. And, +15V and -15V rail also shorted each other. But, u30(5va regulator) was still hot(65°C). is the regulator temperature normal?
  5. Hi folks, So, a question on the POD series, and maybe they even fixed this with the POD HD series...I have a POD X3 Live that I bought used a couple years ago based on Lincoln Brewster's use and endorsement of the line, and I do like the sound of this thing quite a bit. However, one thing I really hate about it is that if I recall a patch and then go to adjust any of the physical knobs, the patch setting suddenly jumps to the current knob position as soon as I move it rather than allowing me to adjust it from it's currently saved setting. For example, if I want to tweak up the reverb a bit on a dry-ish sounding patch, and the physical Reverb knob is way up for whatever reason, as soon as I move the Reverb knob I'm suddenly playing in Shea stadium. Or, if my patch volume needs adjusting and I grab the Tone Volume knob, I may get a sudden blast of volume as soon as I move it if the knob is physically up high. Did the POD HD series and/or Helix series finally figure out how to fix this? I was looking at some used HD500's as I've gotten into looping, but I won't bother if they haven't fixed that issue. If the Helix fixed it, I'll hold out for one of those maybe. Thanks, Jeff
  6. Hi. I have a question about the volume/wah expression pedal. If I assign it to volume/wah, does it normally switches vice versa if I step the pedal all the way to my toe as said in the description because mine does not. I did follow the instruction for the settings but If I push it hard with my toes, no changes at all. Does the switch happen to be defective?
  7. Hi ANY help would be greatly appreciated as Im at the pinnacle of FRUSTRATION!!!!! I have a new (old) iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) Sierra OS 10 12 6 trying to sync up gear box to access tones on my POD X 3 Live tried individually opening the gearbox DMG- seemingly all is well until I launch GEarbox app I get messages such as, incompatible driver, ignoring pod x 3 live this device has an incompatible driver installed and the like in the line6 monkey app it says everything is up to date - the drivers, the flashware etc ... also got this "error opening midi ports code 80000005 unimplemented function called - " and there are NO MIDI devices in !!! Is anybody else having this problem ? is there a solution? I really love my x 3 live but losing hope on it now and thinking about using it as a boat anchor! Please help if you can Thx so much BE blessed Joe
  8. I own a X3 Pro and a X3 Live and I want to backup the X3 Pro and put these sounds to the X3 Live, so I switched to Kubuntu on the machine I used in my rehearsal room for recording, etc. AFAIK drivers are available by the actual Kernel/release but I'm not sure if A: these are only for soundcard purposes and B: f there's any software out that let me get my sounds from one Pod and put it on the other? Does anybody know such software or is there a way to use the line6 tools under kubuntu without the need of a virtual machine? WINE maybe?
  9. Hi all. I recently upgraded to WIndows 10 and have tried to get my X3 live to work as an ASIO device inside Cubase 5.1.2. It works fine stand alone in Gear box but when selectiing the device in audio manager in Cubas I get a BSOD. I have the latest drivers installed. Line 6 Monkey 1.72 X3 Live drivers 4.2.7.6 The computer is an ASUS ROG GL752VW Win 10 64-bit 16GB RAM The windows installation is an upgraded windows 8 installation. (It was delivered like that from the reseller) Could the be the issue? Idon't want to re-install windows if I don't have to. Thanks in advance. //Niklas
  10. Hi, Recently my POD X3 Live stopped working; I had an electrician look at it and he found out that the power switch wasn't working so he's sorted that for me - so I can use my X3 again; but it brought home how old it is and that I should probably replace it but here's my problem. These are the amp models that I use on my X3; exclusively in a Dual Tone setup with each amp panned 80% left/right. 2002 ANGEL P-Ball (2002 ENGL Powerball ch2) - not on the HD500X 2002 Bomber Uber (2002 Bogner Uberschall) HD500X 2002 Bomber X-TC (2002 Bogner Ecstasy) - not on the HD500X 1985 Cali Crunch (Mesa/Boogie Mark II-C+) - not on the HD500X 2003 Connor 50 (2003 Cornford mk50h) - not on the HD500X 2002 Criminal (2002 Peavey® 5150) - Pay to Win HD500X 2003 Deity Crunch (2003 Diezel VH4 ch3) - not on the HD500X 2003 Deity Lead (2003 Diezel VH4 ch4) - not on the HD500X 2003 Deity’s Son (2003 Diezel Herbert) - not on the HD500X 2001 Diamond Plate (Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier ch3) - not on the HD500X 2001 Treadplate Dual (Mesa/Boogie Dual Recitifier ch3) HD500X 2001 Zen Master (Budda Twinmaster) - not on the HD500X The Firehawk has the models sure, but it doesn't have Dual Tone. So from what I can tell there's no upgrade path from the X3 without loosing functionality; unless the firehawk has some secret way of doing dual tone? Anyone have any comments about this? Thanks.
  11. I have several dual tone patches. I would like to have the stomp switches control the effect for both tones simultaneously. The way it works now is if I stop on, say the verb, it only turns the verb off in tone 1 or tone 2 and the verb of the other is still running. Any way to do this?
  12. I original posted this under the X3 Live topics but I guess it would also apply to the HD 500... I was curious if there's any issue(s) with using the headphone input as an in ear monitor while playing live? I was playing in a church setting last night and I tried it. I didn't have any issues but just wanted to know if there are settings for this or if there could be issues using the X3 Live like this? The XLR output was taking my signal to the house. I did have a wedge monitor that was basically the singers mix that had mostly vocals and acoustic. To help the tech guy out, and needing more of me in the monitor, I plugged in my headphones. Using earbuds I was able to leave one ear in and the other ear free to pick up the stage volume and the drummer. Seemed to work but was just curious if anyone uses this set up as an option? If this is an options, are there separate volume levels to increase headphone levels without increasing the level to the house? I just put my master volume level around 1-2 o'clock position and that was enough to get what I needed in the ear and the sound man mixed me in with the band on his end. Thanks
  13. Hey guys, I recently had gotten a spider 120 amp, and no longer need my pod x3. Out of a job so I'm selling it with no reserve. Thought you guys would enjoy the chance to buy an x3 live. http://www.ebay.com/itm/262147282304
  14. Very new to this please help. Authorized the X3 and my laptop now what ....
  15. Hi Guys, I bought myself an introductory POD X3 Live. I have a Variax 300, and am connecting with the DVI cable, this is definitely working. I also mave a nice toy amp, a Roland Cube. I have no sound coming out at all. I have tried many combinations in the output screen, however I'm obviously missing something. Help me get sound please.
  16. I'm currently running on Yosemite 10.10.2 and have installed the updated copy of the Line 6 Monkey (v1.7) After updating the drivers and the x3 live firmware (it was seamless till this point), i tried installing the Gearbox v3.72 the conventional way but failed. So I searched up online and followed the instructions on this link: http://line6.com/support/topic/11126-gearbox-x3-live-yosemite-working/ . I did not manage to completely uninstall the drivers as suggested (i used the terminal app, but it still would let me install some drivers like the "AudiMidi" saying there's a newer version installed prior to this), but still manage to install the Gearbox found in the package contents. HOWEVER, the Gearbox that's running won't let me load up any patch/tone. When i try to do so, an error prompt “ UNABLE TO LOAD TONE (CODE 8000A009) UNSUPPORTED PATCH TYPE“ appears.. Tried uninstalling everything but still, the same problem persists. I'm pretty desperate here and its been many days trying to work this out... I would sincerely appreciate anyone who can help! Many thanks in advance, Jovyn
  17. Hi everyone, I own a X3 Live which is my gig companion for years, a true workhorse battered and proved. The years are passing, however, and I'm considering to leave it as a backup and purchase a newer unit. I have an eye on the HD500x, which seems to be overall good, except for one thing... On the X3L I use a headphone for stage monitoring, so I assign the master vol to control to XLR only, this way I have the 1/4 outs at full volume, and I can control the headphones volume with the master vol knob. I haven't seen any mention to this on the HD500x reference... can't it do this? Thanks in advance.
  18. i have two different boards i use, one with a line 6 delay, an overdrive, an tube screamer and a reverb pedal the other is my Pod x3 live, how do i effectively connect these two boards in sequence to be able to get more dynamic sounds, i have seen it done in pictures but cant seem to find a explination on it
  19. Edit won't recognise my X3 live. Monkey and Farm work fine and show it as connected. This is a real pain as I need to make some patches. I upgraded drivers, etc., with Monkey. I've never used edit before with the X3; it worked fine with my XT. The X3 Live is properly authorised to me and updated.
  20. Is Pod Farm 2.5 compatible with X3 Live??? I want to load an auto Swell effect into the x3 live using pod farm, both cost money...so i wanna know if that can be done b4 i do it and spend money. Thanks guys!
  21. hello all, I really like my current rig, comprising of Ibanez 321ex with BKP Blackhawks -> Line6 POD X3 live -> Matrix gt800fx -> Blackstar 412 with Celestions V30. It is very versatile, i can change sounds very fast, it has a nice ballsy punch and the x3 live lets me have a home recording device plus floorboard with expression pedal at hand. Also, the dual tone option of the X3 Live is something i really love, and the cab responds awesomely well, specially in stereo mode. However, since I'm upgrading my guitar to a of custom Hapas 7string guitar (set of BKP Juggs), i am thinking in selling my Ibby to finance some possible alterations to my rig. Not sure if it's important, i play prog death, so mostly high distortion, but also some clean and acoustic parts too. One option is to add a rack preamp to the rig, and I've been thinking of a 2nd handed HD Pro or Pro X (an AxeFx is too expensive and i don't think it is worth the extra cost). The idea would be to have the following rack: Hapas custom 7string with BKP Juggs -> Line6 POD X3 live -> (possible wireless system) -> Line6 POD HD Pro (X?) -> Matrix gt800fx -> Blackstar 412 I don't want to lose the versatility and the expression pedal i have with my current rig, and i am not insanely looking into make my sound perfect and flawless. But, with the money available, if i can get a better sound for a small investment whistle keeping the best Can i use the X3 for soundbank changing as well as expression pedal with the HD Pro? Would I be getting a noticeably better tone with this change? How much hassle should i expect out of this? thank you for your comments in advance!
  22. Hello friends.! I want to know how to add pitch in tones in x3 live ! Meanwhile how to assign pitch pedal to a tone !
  23. Can anybody help me to configure my X3 live for the bass tone of New York minutes by the Eagles
  24. Hello! First time posting here! I had bought a Pod X3 Live a couple of years ago but never went on with using it that much due to lack of time. I now have more time to dedicate to it so I tried incorporating it into my setup, I have some questions about the software in the computer however. As I understand, Gearbox is the GUI editor for the Pod series that changes, in real time, the parameters on the Pod, which I can monitor through an amp or with headphones. Other than using the outputs into the inputs of my soundcard, is there any other way I could monitor it through my computer rather than having to plug the headphones on the pod? Also, how can I set it up as a soundcard, in order to transmit either the clean or the processed signal of the guitar/bass/vocals etc? I suppose through the USB connection, right? Finally, what exactly is Podfarm? I understand that it is not a real-time graphical editor for the Pod but rather something like a software version of the Pod's processing capabilities, like a "Pod in a computer". In this case, is it any different than the X3 series? How is it meant to be used together with the Pod X3? Thank you in advance for your help and sorry for any stupid questions! Regards, koudis226 PS: I'm using Reaper within Windows 7 and Mac OS X Mavericks (currently using both, trying to fully migrate to OS X)
  25. Hello, Can anyone advise me on the POD Farm plug-in, my x3 Live shows all model packs and a podfarm 1 license, although I cannot seem to get POD farm to work in standalone mode when the X3 is connected, all the packs show up as installed on the splash screen then I get told that there is no compatible device connected. I have also tried the plugin from withing Ableton Suite and nothing shows up in the plugin section. Thanks for looking. Shane
